The eighth round of matches in the Northern Premier League 2024 season saw Fleetwood have a wiining draw against Settle and remain top, Chorley and Netherfield win to got second and third.
There were also wins for Blackpool, Garstang and Kendal
DIVISION ONE:
Fleetwood v Settle
Fleetwood won the toss at Broadwater and elected to bat first, they were bowled out for 193 in their fifty overs.
Vathsal Govind top scored with 54, there were contributions from Harry McAleer 32, Tomas King 27, Jeremy Davies 20, Charlie Clark 18 and Andy Drake 13.
Amar Ullah was Settle's best bowler with 5-54 from 15 overs with Eddy Read 2-27 off 6, Ashen Silva 1-47 from 13, Lloyd Smith 0-20 off 6 and Tom Davidson 0-38 from 10
In reply Settle were 182-9 in their fifty overs, Archie Philllipson lead the way with 39, Lloyd Smith 33no saved the match for the visitors. Other players to help the cause were Ashen Silva 24, Benjamin Hulse 20.
For Fleetwood Declan Clerkin took 4-52 from 15 overs, Vathsal Govind 3-50 off 13, Matthew Siddall 2-45 from 12, Jeremy Davies 0-17 off 5 and Kian Farnworth 0-21 from 5.
Fulwood & Broughton v Chorley
Chorley won the toss at the Highfield ground and invited the hosts to bat first, The two openers Matthew Smith and Mark Smith went cheaply, Matthew Smith was caught by Sam Steeple off James Dunn for 5 (7 balls), 7-1, Mark Smith followed bowled by Edwin Moulton for 1 (23 balls), 13-2.
Brendan Morris and Simon Kerrigan were the new batsmen and took the score to 33, Miller Childs was the man to break the partnership having Brendan Morris caught by James Dunn for 17 (39 balls), 33-3.
James McWiiliam came in next but soon fell to Miller Childs caught by Kieran Yould for 0 (11 balls.),48-4. One run had been added when Muhammad Zaid was caught by Sunny John off Sam Steeple for 0 (5 balls), 49-5.
Lewis Wellings joined Simon Kerrigan and they slowly moved the score along until Matt Dawson made the breakthrough, Lewis Wellings caught behind by Ben Simpkins for 21 (64 balls), 98-6. Dawson struck again with the valuable wicket of Simon Kerrigan caught by Edwin Moulton for 39 (105 balls), 107-7.
Ben Parkinson 11no (28 balls) and Khalil Patel 14no (18 balls) saw the hosts close on 135-7 in their 50 overs.
The Chorley bowling was Miller Childs 2-10 from 7, Matt Dawson 2-30 off 9, Edwin Moulton 1-8 from 10, James Dunn 1-14 off 7, Sam Steeple 1-19 from 6, Will Moulton 0-12 off 5 and Marques Ackerman 0-17 from 6
The hosts got off to a bad start in their reply losing Sunny John caught by Matthew Smith for 0 off Khalil Patel in the first ball of the innings, 0-1.
Will Moulton came in at three, the score was 35 when two wickets fell, Will Moulton was caught by Brendan Morris off Khalil Patel for 13 (41 balls), 35-2, opener Miller Childs quickly followed caught by Ben Parkinson off Simon Kerrigan for 20 (37 balls), 35-3.
Marques Ackerman and Zayn Wadiwala were the new batsmen, Khalil Patel claimed his third wicket Zayn Wadiwala caught behind by James McWilliam for 7 (12 balls), 58-4. Simon Kerrigan quickly accounted for Kieran Yould caught by James Lupton for 0 (3 balls), 59-5.
Edwin Moulton joined Marques Ackerman, Ackerman decided to go on the attack and saw the visitors home on 139-5 in 28.2 overs with a score of 78no (36 balls), (6x4, 7x6) with Edwin Moulton 17no (40 balls).
Khalil Patel took 3-27 from 10 overs, Simon Kerrigan 2-57 off 7.4, Chris Brookes 0-10 from 4, Lewis Wellings 0-21 off 4 and James Lupton 0-21 from 2.4.
Leyland v Garstang
Garstang won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and chose to bat first, Tom Higson and Michael Walling got the visitors off to a brilliant start with an opening partnership of 89 broken by Andrew Jacques having Tom Higson caught by Karl Cross for 56 (57 balls), 89-1
Imran Butt was in next but soon became Andrew Jacques second victim caught by Zak Willox for 4 (9 balls), 97-2. Disaster struck for the visitors with new batsman Mark Walling run out by Zak Willox for 0 (11 balls), 102-3.
Hugo Croft replaced Walling and struggled for runs, he fell caught behind by Adam Sexton off Iain Critchley for 4 (24 balls), 131-4. Joseph Pearson joined Michael Walling. The visitors lost two wickets with the score on 158, Joseph Pearson was caught by Jacob Wright off Kurtis Watson for 8 (15 balls), 158-5, The Wright/Watson combination removed Ian Walling for 0 (5 balls), 158-6.
Michael Walling's long and fighting innings came to an end lbw to Iain Critchley for 80 (152 balls), 172-7, In the last over of the Garstang innings Iain Critchley caught and bowled Matthew Crowther for 13 (22 balls), 185-8. he had number ten Gregour Carr caught by James Critchley for 0 (1 ball) as Garstang closed on 185-9 in 50 overs.
Iain Critchley took 4-41 from 15 overs, Andrew Jacques 2-40 off 13, Kurtis Watson 2-57 from 12 and Ross Bretherton 0-34 off 10.
The hosts got off to a bad start in their reply losing James Critchley bowled by Ian Walling for 3 (14 balls), 10-1. Zak Willox was in at three but on reaching 12 (30 balls) he was bowled by Ian Walling, 48-2, Jacob Wright joined Karl Cross and were going well until Michael Walling had Karl Cross lbw for 54 (90 balls), 92-3.
The new man in was Kurtis Watson. Michael Walling claimed his second wicket Jacob Wright caught and bowled for 20 (51 balls), 109-4. Ross Bretherton joined Kurtis Watson, Ian Walling broke what looked like a dangerous partnership having Kurtis Watson caught by Imran Butt for 30 (38 balls), 147-5.
Tom Higson trapped incoming batsman Andrew Makinson lbw for 0 (5 balls), 148-6. Higson claimed his second wicket bowling James Rounding for 7 (13 balls), 164-7.
The game ended in disaster for the hosts losing their last three wickets without addition, Matthew Crowther stumped Ross Bretherton off Ian Walling for 26 (46 balls), 158-8, Andrew Jacques was run out by Imran Butt for 0 (2 balls), 158-9, the innings closed on 158 all out in 48.4 overs with Iain Critchley lbw to Ian Walling for 1 (3 balls), Adam Sexton was 0no without facing.

Longridge v Kendal
Longridge won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and decided to bat first, the innings did not get off to the best of starts losing Joshua Mullin caught by Max Winskill off Sam Sharp for 0 (9 balls), 0-1.
Opening batsman Taariq Chiecktey had made 22 in 21 balls when he was bowled by Louis Backhouse, 22-2, the new batsmen were Luke Platt and Zac Christie, Runs were hard to come by but with the total on 50 Zac Christie fell caught by Max Winskill off Sam Sharp for 8 (27 balls), 50-3.
Rob Hollinghurst replaced Christie, Luke Platt was the next to go, his battling innings came to an end caught by Max Winskill off Freddie Fallows for 27 (75 balls), 68-4. Chris Miller then had Rob Hollinghurst lbw for 9 (34 balls), 68-5.
Zach Proctor and Alex Mason were the new batsmen and slowly built the score until Zach Proctor was stumped by Finlay Richardson off Freddie Fallows for 6 (20 balls), 80-6., Rhys Morgan joined Mason and they took the score past the hundred, Chris Miller broke the partnership bowling Alex Mason for 16 (29 balls), 104-7.
The hosts innings came to a disastrous end losing three wickets on 109 in 41.3 overs, first to go was Rhys Morgan bowled by Chis Miller for 15 (19 balls), 109-8, next Freddie Fallows had Jake Durnell caught by Max Winskill for 4 (10 balls), 109-9 and finally Chris Miller bowled Jonathan Millward for 0 (4 balls) 109 all out in 41.3 overs leaving Jacob Proctor ono (3 balls).
The Kendal bowling was Chris Miller 4-18 from 8.3 overs, Freddie Fallows 3-26 off 10, Sam Sharp 2-17 from 11, Louis Backhouse 1-23 off 6, Evan Williams 0-7 from 3 and Kuldeep Singh 0-18 off 3.
In reply Kendal got off to a blistering start with Freddie Fallows hitting 22 runs off the first over but lost Evan Williams bowled by Jonathan Millward in the second for 0 (1 ball), 22-1
Max Winskill came in next, Freddie Fallows attacking innigs came to an end caught by Zac Christie off Jacob Proctor for 59 (25 balls)(4x4, 6x6), 67-2. The introduction of Alex Mason into the attack had immediate success Sam Dutton caught by Jacob Proctor off Mason for 0 (2 balls, 67-3).
Bradley Earl was Max Winskill's next partner and they looked to be cruising to victory when two wickets fell on the same score, Jacob Proctor bowled Bradley Earl for 14 (12 balls), 96-4, two balls later he bowled Finlay Richardson for 0 (2 balls), 96-5.
Alex Mason gave the hosts some hope with three wickets and put some doubt into the visitors minds, Taariq Chiecktey stumped Lewis Richardson off Mason for 5 (4 balls), 101-6, Max Winskill followed caught behind by Taariq Chiecktey off Mason for 14 (57 balls), 105-7.
Sam Sharp was trapped lbw by Mason for 2 (9 balls), 105-8. Louis Backhouse 4no (4 balls) hit a four for the winning runs with Chris Miller 2no (4 balls) as Kendal closed on 110-8 in 19.4 overs.
Alex Mason took 4-25 from 6 overs, Jacob Proctor 3-33 off 5.4, Jonathan Millward 1-10 from 5, Zach Proctor 0-15 off 2 and Jake Durnell 0-22 from 1.
Mawdesley v Blackpool
Blackpool won the toss at Rectory Field and put the hosts into bat, Mawdesley got off to a terrible start losing three quick wickets, Daniel Unsworth was first to go lbw to Ansar Noorstani for 3 (16 balls). 3-1
Matthew Grindley had fellow opener Ffyfe Dennis caught by Jake Muncaster for 0 (8 balls), 3-2, three balls later he bowled Ben Munslow for 0 (3 balls), 3-3.
Dominic Hendricks and Lee Berrie had the task to rebuild the innings, Matthew Grindley stopped their efforts by taking two wickets in three balls, first Dominic Hrendricks was bowled for 18 (20 balls), 24-4, new man Nathan Trengrove went the same way bowled for 0 (2 balls), 24-5.
Alexander Berry joined Lee Berrie and they dug in, Josh Boyne bowled Lee Berrie for 3 (32 balls), 36-6, Lewis McKinnon was in next and they doubled the score, Shivam Chaudhary broke their partnership bowlng Alexander Berry for 36 (68 balls), 72-7.
Arran Lewin had incoming batsman Louis Rothwell caught by Matthew Grindley for 1 (4 balls), 73-8, he then trapped Neil O'Malley lbw for 0 (3 balls), 73-9.
Matthew Grindley claimed his fifth wicket and closed the Mawdesley innings on 94 all out in 40.1 overs with Ben Howarth stumping Lewis McKinnon for 21 (63 balls), Joshua Adamson was 5no (24 balls).
For Blackpool Matthew Grindley took 5-37 from 14.4 overs, Arran Lewin 2-11 off 7, Shivam Chaudhary 1-12 from 6, Ansar Noorstani 1-14 off 5, Josh Boyne 1-14 from 7 and Dylan Henshall 0-1 off 1.
Kasim Munir and Dylan Henshall opened with a partnership of 27 broken by Joshua Adamson bowling Dylan Henshall for 21 (25 balls), 27-1. Shivam Chaudhary was number three and was out caught by Ben Munslow off Dominic Hendricks for 20 (23 balls), 63-2.
Andrew Needham joined Kasim Munir, Dominic Hendricks struck again having Kasim Munir caught by Alexander Berry for 11 (63 balls). 76-3. New man in was Josh Boyne 14no (11 balls) and with Andrew Needham 13no (22 balls) saw the vistitors to victory on 95-3 in 23.5 overs
The bowling was Dominic Henricks 2-12 from 4 overs, Joshua Adamson 1-19 off 8, Neil O'Malley 0-25 from 3.5 and Nathan Trengrove 0-31 off 8.
St Annes v Netherfield
St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and elected to bat first, Samuel Medhurst broke the opening partnership bowling Yohan De Silva for 8 (18 balls), 14-1.
Nathan Bolus came in at three, Disaster struck for the home side losing two wickets on 24, Nathan Bolus was first to go caught behind by Lewis Edge off Samuel Medhurst for 5 (9 balls), 24-2, Luke Jardine followed caught behind by Lewis Edge off Josh Wills for 9 (24 balls), 24-3.
Things did not improve for the home side, Will Trohear was lbw to Samuel Medhurst for 0 (16 balls), 38-4, Medhurst then had new man Josh Taylor caught by Josh Dixon for 0 (4 balls), 39-5.
Nathan Armstrong and Mitch Bolus began to rebuild the innings, Geeth Kumara made the breakthrough having Nathan Arnstrong lbw for 22 (36 balls), 56-6.
Ryan Birkman joined Mitch Bolus and they were making progress until Geeth Kamara had Mitch Bolus caught by John Huck for 12 (36 balls), 71-7, next over he had Tom Bradley caught behind by Lewis Edge for 0 (4 balls), 71-8
The incoming batsman was Ashen Daluwattage but soon became Kumara's fourth victim caught by Josh Wills for 1 (8 balls), 75-9. The St Annes innings came to an end on 101 all out in 40.2 overs with Samuel Medhurst claiming his fifth wicket James Bradley caught by John Huck for 3 (33 balls) leaving Ryan Birkman 31no (58 balls).
Samuel Medhurst took 5-38 from 12.3 overs, Geeth Kumara 4-19 off 12, Josh Wills 1-15 from 7, Oli Wilman 0-11 off 3 and Matt Jackson 0-12 from 6.
In reply Netherfield knocked off the runs in 23.3 overs closing on 103-0 with Reece Irving 53no (64 balls) and Josh Dixon 49no (77 balls).
