The sixth round of matches in the Northern Premier League 2024 season saw new leaders with Chorley's win over St Annes.
There were also wins for Blackpool, Garstang, Kendal, Leyland and Longridge.
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Mawdesley
Blackpool won the toss at Stanley Park and invited the visitors to bat first, They started badly losing both openers for five runs, Lee Berrie was the first to go caught by Dylan Henshall off Matthew Grindley for 1 (8 balls), 3-1, Daniel Unsworth followed bowled by Richard Gleeson for 0 (10 balls), 5-2
Dominic Hendricks and Jon Stone were the new batsmen and they found runs hard to come by, the partnership was broken with Jon Stone caught and bowled by Josh Boyne for 8 (54 balls), 22-3
Christopher Andrews was next in but fell caught by Shivam Chaudhary off Matthew Grindley for 0 (13 balls), 27-4. Nathan Trengrove was Hendricks next partner, they made slow progress until Nathan Trengrove was caught by Paul Danson off Shivam Chaudhary for 1 (21 balls), 42-5.
Fyffe Dennis replaced Trengrove but with only two runs added he was bowled by Shivam Chaudhary for 1 (22 balls), 44-6, B Munslow came in next but was run out by Dylan Henshall for 0 without facing, 50-7.
Dominic Hendricks was fighting to hold the innings together taking most of the bowling, Joshua Unsworth was his next partner but on reaching 7 (26 balls) he was caught by Matthew Grindley off Josh Boyne, 61-8.
Joshua Adamson 16no (14 balls) joined Dominic Hendricks 46no (132 balls) and they saw the visitors to 88-8 in their 50 overs.
The wickets were shared amongst the Blackpool bowlers, Shivam Chaudhary took 2-14 from 9 overs, Josh Boyne 2-18 off 12, Matthew Grindley 2-21 from 15 and Richard Gleeson 1-29 off 14.
In reply the hosts lost Kasim Munir caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Joshua Unsworth for 5 (10 balls), 7-1, Shivam Chaudhary came in at three but fell caught by Lee Berrie off Christopher Andrews for 19 (14 balls), 34-2.
Andrew Needham joined Dylan Henshall, Eight runs had beed addded when Dylan Henshall was caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Neil O'Malley for 9 (19 balls), 42-3.
New batsman Josh Boyne 30no (28 balls) and Andrew Needham 24no (42 balls) saw the hosts home on 89-3 in 18.5 overs.
For Mawdesley Joshua Unsworth took 1-13 from 4 overs, Neil O'Malley 1-24 off 5.5, Christopher Andrews 1-35 from 5 and Dominic Hendricks 0-16 off 4
Chorley v St Annes
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and elected to bat first, Lukman Vahaluwala made a quick breakthrough taking two wickets in two balls, Will Moulton was caught by Ashen Daluwattage for 2 (3 balls), 2-1, next ball Harry Barclay was caught by Nathan Bolus for 0 (1 ball), 2-2.
Marques Ackerman joined Miller Childs and they kept the scoreboard moving along, the score was 136 when both men were out, Miller Childs was bowled by Yohan De Silva for 33 (71 balls), 136-3, Marques Acherman followed lbw to Ashen Daluwattage for 95 (77 balls)(10x4, 4x6), 136-4.
Zayn Wadiwala and Edwin Moulton were the new batsmen, Yohan De Silva claimed his second wicket Edwin Moulton caught by Ryan Birkman for 5 (9 balls), 145-5, Kieran Yould was Wadiwala's new partner and they took the score passed the two hundred, Lukman Vahaluwala broke the paternership bowling Zayn Wadiwala for 42 (55 balls), 211-6.
Tom Bradley's return to the attack saw him take two wickets Kieran Yould caught by Ryan Birkman for 23 (58 balls), 221-7, followed by Ben Silmpkins caught by Yohan De Silva for 13 (18 balls), 229-8. James Dunn was run out by Tom Bradley for 1, Sam Steeple 2no (4 balls) and Matt Dawson 1no (4 balls) saw the hosts close on 233-9 in their 50 overs.
The St Annes bowling was Lukman Vahaluwala 3-54 from 15 overs, Yohan De Silva 2-26 off 7, Tom Bradley 2-71 from 15, Ashen Daluwattage 1-36 off 10 and Ryan Birkman 0-26 from 3.
The visitors got off to the worst start losing Yohan De Silva bowled by James Dunn for 5 (6 balls), 8-1. Nathan Bolus was the St Annes number three and with Luke Jardine moved the score along until Will Moulton trapped Nathan Bolus lbw for 19 (25 balls), Lukman Vahaluwala joined Jardine and were going well until Lukman Vahaluwala was caught by Edwin Moulton off Matt Dawson for 44 (50 balls).
Nathan Armstrong was Jardine's new partner. Disaster struck for the visitors losing three wickts for two runs, Nathan Armstrong caught by Marques Ackerman off Matt Dawson for 2 (5 balls), Luke Jardine who was holding the innings together went next bowled by Edwin Moulton for 63 (126 balls). Matt Dawson then bowled Ryan Birkman for 2 (6 balls)
Mitch Bolus and Joe Davies had the task to try and save the game, Edwin Moulton struck, bowling Joe Davies for 9 (9 balls), trapping Ashen Daluwattage lbw for 6 (7 balls), then bowling Tom Bradley for 1 (6 balls). The innings closed with Will Moulton bowling Mitch Bolus for 3 (22 balls) as St Annes were bowled out for 175 in 43.4 overs with James Bradley 0no (1 ball).
Edwin Moulton's had 5-53 from 10.4 overs, Matt Dawson 3-21 off 12, James Dunn 1-13 from 4, Will Moulton 1-40 off 10 and Sam Steeple 0-12 from 7.
Euxton v Longridge
Euxton won the toss at Balshaw Park and put the visitors into bat, Joshua Mullin and Taariq Chiecktey gave Longridge a great start with an opening partnership of 83 broken when Joshua Mullin was caught behind by Danny Curtis off Aneeq Hassan for 25 (68 balls), 83-1.
Zac Christie joined Chiecktey but Chiecktey had to retire hurt with his score on 50no (44 balls), Luke Platt came in and with Christie and took the score to 126, James Bone had Platt caught by Jack Shovelton for 25 (40 balls), 126-2.
New batsman Tom Turner 7no and Zac Christie 81no (68 balls) saw the visitors close on 191-2 in their 50 overs.
The Euxton bowling was Aneeq Hassan 1-48 from 10 overs, James Bone 1-68 off 11, Joseph Bowden 0-11 from 3, Jack Shovelton 0-14 off 4, Chris Pearson 0-21 from 3 and Louis Sweeney 0-28 off 7
The hosts got off to a terrible start in their reply losing four wickets for only six runs, Joseph Barker was caught by Zac Christie off Jonathan Millward in the first over for 0 (6 balls). 0-1
Opener Zane Gilder followed caught by Taariq Chiecktey off Zach Proctor for 2 (7 balls), 2-2, Number three Max Harper was caught behind by Tom Turner off Jonathan Millward for 0 (8 balls), 2-3.
Zach Proctor bowled Aneeq Hassan for 1 (7 balls), 6-4. The hosts were in trouble but James Bone and Jack Shovelton set about the task of rebuilding the innings.
Their partnership was 62 when disaster struck losing three wickets without addition, James Bone was caught by Zac Christie off Alex Mason for 16 (23 balls), 68-5, Jack Shovelton followed caught by Jake Durnell off Jonathan Millward for 44 (36 balls), 68-6, new batsman Dave McCabe was run out by Rob Hollinghurst for 0 (10 balls), 68-7.
Alex Mason began the death knoll with two wickets, Louis Sweeney stumped by Tom Turner for 0 (5 balls), 73-8, he then had Chris Pearson caught by Joshua Mullin for 7 (24 balls), 76-9. The innings closed on 85 in 24.2 overs with Joseph Bowden lbw to Jake Durnell for 0 (9 balls). Danny Curtis was 9no (13 balls).
Each of the Longridge bowlers took a wicket, Alex Mason 3-15 from 7 overs, Jonathan Millward 3-22 off 8, Zach Proctor 2-31 from 5 and Jake Durnell 1-16 off 4.2
Garstang v Fulwood & Broughton
Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at the Riverside Sprots ground and asked the hosts to bat first, Michael Walling was out caught by Lewis Wellings off Khalil Patel for 0 (2 balls), 7-1. Imran Butt was in at three and was batting steadily until he was caught by Lewis Wellings off Chris Brookes for 16 (32 balls), 38-2.
Mark Walling came in next but lost partner Tom Higson bowled by Dom Jackson for 36 (40 balls), 60-3. The new batsman was Hugo Croft, Chris Brookes claimed his second wicket Mark Walling caught by Brendan Morris for 12 (38 balls). 76-4.
Matthew Crowther joined Croft, with their partnership on 34 Hugo Croft was caught by Dom Jackson off Brendan Morris for 28 (56 balls), 110-5. Ashton Charles came to the wicket but was bowled by Dom Jaqckson for 8 (10 balls), 133-6.
Two wickets fell for the hosts for three runs, Matthew Crowther was stumped by James McWilliam off Brendan Morris for 25 (57 balls), 139-7, Danny Gilbert was run out by James McWilliam for 3 (4 balls), 142-8.
Ian Walling was joined by Charlie Parkinson, their partnership was 27 when Ian Walling was caught by Matthew Smith off Dom Jackson for 25 (32 balls), 169-9. The hosts innings closed on 173 all out in 49.3 overs, Gregour Carr caught behind by James McWiilam off Khalil Patel for 3 (9 balls) with Charlie Parkinson 6no (17 balls).
The bowling was Dom Jackson 3-42 from 15 overs, Khalil Patel 2-34 off 6.3, Chris Brookes 2-37 from 15, Brendan Morris 2-37 off 8, James Lupton 0-3 from 2 and Lewis Wellings 0-12 off 3.
The Fulwood & Broughton reply never got off the ground, Matthew Smith was out in the second over of the innings caught by Danny Gilbert off Charlie Parkinson for 1 (4 balls), 1-1. Brendan Morris came in and fell caught by Imran Butt off Ian Walling for 3 (14 balls), 8-2.
Things did not improve for the visitors opener Richard Turner was caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Charlie Parkinson for 8 (16 balls), 12-3. Seven runs were added when two further wickets fell, New batsman James McWilliam became Charlie Parkinson's third wicket bowled for 2 (10 balls), 19-4, Ben Parkinson followed three balls later bowled by Charlie Parkinson for 0 (3 balls), 19-5.
Muhammad Zaid and Lewis Wellings tried to rebuild the innings, Gregour Carr had other ideas and Muhammad Zaid was lbw for 7 (31 balls), 28-6, Khalil Patel was the new batsman but lost his partner Lewis Wellings caught by Hugo Croft off Danny Gilbert for 11 (37 balls), 34-7.
James Lupton joined Patel and stayed around for a while, the return of Charlie Parkinson to the attack was rewarded with the wicket of James Lupton caught by Danny Gilbert for 8 (28 balls), 59-8, one run later Tom Higson had Dom Jackson stumped by Matthew Crowther for 1 (5 balls), 60-9.
The Fulwood & Broughton innings came to an end on 82 all out with Chris Brookes bowled by Tom Higson for 11 (13 balls) and Khalil Patel 24no (51 balls).
Charlie Parkinson was the hero with 5-27 from 10 overs supported by Tom Higson 2-18 off 4, Danny Gilbert 1-7 from 7, Ian Walling 1-8 off 7 and Gregour Carr 1-18 from 7.
Netherfield v Leyland
Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and asked the visitors to bat first, Karl Cross and James Critchley were the opening pair, their stand was broken with Karl Cross caught by Josh Dixon off Josh Wills for 3 (16 balls), 32-1.
Zak Willox was in at three but soon lost James Critchley caught by Samuel Mehurst off Matt Jackson for 31 (37 balls), 48-2, Kurtis Watson was the new batsman and with Zak Willox were going well until Samuel Medhurst had Kurtis Watson caught by Josh Dixon for 30 (36 balls), 95-3.
Ross Bretherton replaced Watson. The introduction of Oli Wileman into the attack saw him have Zak Willox caught by Reece Irving for 55 (58 balls), 126-4. Jacob Wright joined Bretherton but with only six runs added Ross Bretherton was caught by Josh Dixon off Matt Jackson for 8 (24 balls), 132-5.
The new batsman was Andrew Makinson who found runs hard to come by and on 3 (23 balls) he was caught behind by Lewis Edge off Oli Wileman, 149-6, James Rounding came in next but lost Jacob Wright caught by Ben Barrow off Oli Wileman for 17 (38 balls), 160-7.
Iain Critchley replaced Wright, the score was 188 and Josh Wills toook two wickets in two balls, he had James Rounding caught by Oli Wileman for 28 (41 balls), 188-8, next ball Adam Sexton was caught behind by Lewis Edge for 0 (1 ball), 188-9. Iain Critchley 12no (14 balls) and Andrew Jacques 8no (13 balls) saw the visitors close on 200-9 in their 50 overs.
The Netherfield bowling was Oli Wileman 3-32 from 14 overs, Josh Wills 3-54 off 13, Matt Jackson 2-38 from 11, Samuel Medhurst 1-38 off 6 and Isaac Medhurst 0-36 from 6
Josh Dixon and Reece Irving opened but with only seven on the board Kurtis Watson bowled Josh Dixon for 2 (12 balls), 7-1, Ben Barrow was number three, Kurtis Watson claimed his second wicket Reece Irving caught by Ross Bretherton for 6 (20 balls), 20-2.
John Huck was Ben Barrow's new partner, they were steadily moving along until Ben Barrow was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Ross Bretherton for 31 (54 balls), 44-3, Will Beeden joined Huck. Disaster struck for the hosts with the loss of four wicket for four runs. John Huck fell caught by Zak Willox off Andrew Jacques for 15 (35 balls), 60-4.
Two Runs had been added when two wickets fell, Ross Bretherton had Will Beeden caught by James Critchley for 3 (10 balls), 62-5, New batsman Lewis Edge was out caught by James Rounding off Andrew Jacques for 0 (6 balls), 62-6.
Andrew Jacques bowled new batsman Iaasc Medhurst for 0 (7 balls), 64-7. Oli Wileman and Samuel Medhurst tried to stem the tide, Iain Critchley broke the partnership bowling Oli Wileman for 13 (23 balls), 85-8.
The end came ten runs later with the last two wickets falling on the same score, Samuel Medhurst was caught by Jacob Wright off Kurtis Watson for 17 (31 runs), 95-9, The hosts were bowled out for 95 in 33.5 overs with Iain Critchley bowling Josh Wills for 2 ( 9 balls), Matt Jackson was 0no (1 ball).

Settle v Kendal
Settle won the toss at Marshfield and invited the visitors to bat first, Kendal got off to a good start with an opening partnership of 41, Evan Williams was first out caught behind by Robbie Davidson off Tom Davidson for 7 (36 balls), 41-1.
Max Winskill was next in and lost his partner Freddie Fallows to the Robbie Davidson/ Tom Davidson combination for 41 (49 balls), 52-2, Sam Dutton came to the wicket, Max Winskill was finding runs hard to come by and with 22 added to the score he was caught by Lewis Smith off Ashen Silva for 11 (49 balls), 74-3
Ashen Silva then accounted for new batsman Bradley Earl bowling him for 2 (6 balls), 78-4. Finlay Richardson joined Sam Dutton and they took the score to 150. three wickets fell for 1 run, Sam Dutton was caught by John Davidson off Amar Ullah for 43 (62 balls), 150-5, One run later Lewis Richardson was out lbw to Tom Davidson for 0 (3 balls) 151-6, Tom Davidson next ball repeated the feat having Sam Sharp lbw for 0 (1 ball), 151-7

The opening pair of Archie Phillipson and Lewis Smith were separated by Sam Sharp trapping Archie Phillipson lbw for 5 (10 balls), 14-1.
Ashen Silva was the new batsman, Kuldeep Singh struck taking two wickets in an over, he had Lewis Smith caught by Chris Miller for 10 (14 balls), 24-2, five balls later John Davidson caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 0 (5 balls), 24-3.
Disaster struck for the home team with Sam Sharp taking four wickets with the total on 32, Ashen Silva was caught by Chris Miller for 7 (21 balls), 32-4, Amar Ullah was lbw for 0 (2 balls), 32-5, Tom Davidson followed caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 0 (3 balls), 32-6, finally William Davidson was caught by Freddie Fallows for 0 (5 balls), 32-7.
There was no way back for the hosts, Kuldeep Singh bowled Robbie Davidson for 1 (13 balls), 38-8, one run later Lloyd Smith was caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Loius Backhouse for 1 (7 balls).
The Settle innings came to an end with Benjamin Hulse run out by Finlay Richardson for 4 (33 balls) as the hosts were 40 all out in 19.3 overs with Will Smith 1no (6 balls).
