The Twenty Fourth round of matches in the Northern Premier League 2024 season saw Netherfield beat Chorley and keep the pressure on Fleetwood,
There were also wins for Blackpool, Kendal Euxton and Fulwood & Broughton. St Annes had a winning draw against Leyland.
There were problems with the Play-cricket site which meant some scorecards were not as complete as they usually are.
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Longridge
Longridge won the toss at Stanley Park and chose to bat first, they made 185-6 in their 50 overs with Luke Platt top scoring with 60 supported by Alex Mason 40, Zac Christie 36 and Tom Howarth 20no.
The Blackpool bowling was Josh Boyne 2-43 from 14, Jamie Thomson 2-44 off 15, Dylan Henshall 0-17 from 4, Ali Munir 0-19 off 6 and Arran Lewin 0-51 from 11.
In reply Blackpool knocked off the runs in 48.1 overs reaching their target of 186-9 thanks to Josh Boyne 70, Dylan Henshall 50, number nine Cameron Brookes 15 and number ten Paul Danson 14no.
Jake Durnell took 4-36 from 15 overs, Gabriel Dowthwaite 3-44 off 9, Alex Mason 2-53 from 15, Tom Howarth 0-24 off 3.1 and Jacob Proctor 0-27 from 6.
Kendal v Garstang
Kendal won the toss at Shap Road and invited the visitors to bat first, Tom Higson and Michael Walling gave Garstang a good start, their partnership was broken when Michael Walling was bowled by Freddie Fallows for 7 (44 balls), 40-1.
Number three was Matthew Crowther but he soon lost his partner Tom Higson caught by Sam Dutton off Chris Miller for 27 (61 balls). 44-2. Joseph Pearson came in next but was soon out lbw to Chris Miller for 5 (12 balls), 56-3.
Chris Miller quickly removed the incoming batsman Mark Walling out first ball lbw for 0 (1 balls), 56-4. Michael Wellings replaced Walling, once again two wickets fell without addition, Michael Wellings was bowled by Freddie Fallows for 1 (6 balls), 59-5, Chris Miller struck having Matthew Crowther caught by Lewis Richardson for 9 (21 balls), 59-5.
We had two new batsmen in Adam Ball and Ian Walling, Chris Miller claimed his fifth wicket Adam Ball bowled for 0 (7 balls), 62-7.
Danny Gilbert joined Ian Walling and they began to rebuild the Garstang innings. Their partnership was 51 when disaster struck the last three wickets fell without a run being scored. Danny Gilbert was the first to go bowled by Chris Miller for 20 (22 balls), 113-8, Miller then had Joe Barlow caught by Sam Sharp for 0 (3 balls), 113-9. The innings closed on 113 all out in 33.1 overs with Freddie Fallows bowling Ian Walling for 33 (27 balls) leaving Josh Woodhead 0no.
Chris Miller took 7-55 from 14 overs, Freddie Fallows 3-26 off 12.1, Sam Sharp 0-12 from 3 and Louis Backhouse 0-4 off 4.
Garstang struck an early blow Ian Walling bowling Evan Williams for 5 (16 balls), 18-1, Finlay Richardson came in at three and with Freddie Fellows were moving the score along until Freddie Fallows was out lbw to Tom Higson for 23 (29 balls), 40-2.
Max Winskill was the new batsman, disaster struck the Kendal innings losing four wickets for two runs, Tom Higson began the collapse having Max Winskill caught by Michael Walling for 5 (16 balls), 52-3, Ian Walling then took three wickets, Finlay Richardson was caught by Michael Walling for 18 (31 runs), 52-4. one run later he bowlled Sam Dutton for 0 (3 balls), 53-5. Bradley Earl was next out lbw to Walling for 2 (7 balls), 54-6.
The hosts were in trouble and Lewis Richardson and Sam Sharp were given the task of turning it round, They batted carefully and it was Ian Walling who made the breakthrough with his fifth wicket having Sam Sharp lbw for 13 (38 balls), 86-7.
Chris Miller replaced Sharp and continued to support his partner, Danny Gilbert took the important wicket off Lewis Richardson lbw for 14 (51 balls), 90-8.
Louis Backhouse was in at ten and with Chris Miller edged closer and closer to victory, The scores were level when Danny Gilbert bowled Louis Backhouse for 17 (13 balls)(4x4), 113-9.
Kuldeep Singh was last mman in and scored a run off his first ball to give the hosts victory on 114-9 in 38.5 overs with Chris Miller 4no (33 balls).
Ian Walling took 5-28 from 15 overs, Danny Gilbert 2-33 off 7.5, Tom Higson 2-50 from 15 and Joe Barlow 0-3 off 1.
Leyland v St Annes
St Annes won the toss at the Stanning Memorial gound and elected to bat first, they lost Yohan De Silva caught and bowled by Ross Bretherton for 2 (7 balls), 3-1.
Lukman Vahaluwala was in at three and with Nathan Armstrong began to build a score until Vahaluwala was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Andrew Jacques for 21 (29 balls), 46-2.
Nathan Bolus joined Armstrong and they were going well until they were both out on the same score, Nathan Bolus was first to go caught by Jacob Wright off Luke Hands for 33 (54 balls), 128-3. Nathan Armstrong followed caught behind by Adam Sexton off Kurtis Watson for 64 (76 balls), 128-4.
The two new batsmen were Luke Jardine and Gurman Bains, their partnership was approaching fifty when Gurman Bains was bowled by Ross Bretherton for 17 (32 balls). 174-5.
James Bradley replaced Bains and with Jardine took the total passed the two hundred. now in the last five overs Luke Jardine was out caught by Karl Cross off Andrew Jacques for 52 (62 balls), 212-6.
The visitors were now looking for runs and incoming batsman Mitch Bolus was soon out caught by Iain Critchley off Andrew Jacques for 3 (7 balls), 216-7.
Next in was Ryan Birkman who lost his partner James Bradley run out for 14 (25 balls), 222-8. Ryan Birkman was next out caught behind by Adam Sexton off Kurtis Watson for 5 (10 balls). 225-9
Will Trohear 3no (2 balls) and James Sargeant 0no (1 ball) saw St Annes close on 228-9 in their 50 overs.
For Leyland Andrew Jacques took 3-54 from 15, Kurtis Watson 2-57 off 10, Ross Bretherton 2-61 from 14, Luke Hands 1-15 off 2 and Iain Critchley 0-32 deom 9.
In reply the hosts got off to a bad start losing two early wickets, Karl Cross fell from the second ball of the innings caught by Yohan De Silva off Lukman Vahaluwala for 0 (2 balls), 0-1.
The Leyland number three Luke Hands was run out by Luke Jardine for 1 (17 balls), 4-2. Kurtis Watson joined James Critchley but was soon out bowled by Mitch Bolus for 12 (20 balls), 22-3.
Ross Bretherton came in next, James Sargeant was introduced into the attack and in his second over he had James Critchley caught by Ryan Birkman for 20 (46 balls), 39-4.
Andrew Makinson replaced Critchley but he too fell to Sargeant caught by Mitch Bolus for 13 (30 balls), 65-5. Jacob Wright was Bretherton's next partner but with olny seventeen runs added Ross Bretherton became wicket number three for James Sargeant caught by Yohan De Silva for 26 (49 balls), 82-6.
The new batsman was James Rounding but with the score on 100 he was caught by Will Trohear off Lukman Vahaluwala for 10 (24 balls), 100-7. Iain Critchley came to the wicket but was trapped lbw by Yohan De Silva for 1 (9 balls), 105-8.
There were twelve overs remaining and two wickets required, number ten Adam Sexton and Jacob Wright fought to save the game but with five overs to go James Sargeant had Adam Sexton caught by Will Trohear for 7 (22 balls), 131-9.
Andrew Jacques came in at eleven and scored over a run a ball as Leyland survived and closed on 163-9 in their 50 overs with Jacob Wright 46no (62 balls) and Andrew Jacques 22no (19 balls).
James Sargeant's figures were 4-52 from 13 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala took 2-53 off 15, Mitch Bolus 1-15 from 7 and Yohan De Silva 1-37 off 15.
Mawdesley v Fulwood & Broughton
Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at Rectory Field and chose to bat first, after losing some early wickets with Brendan Morris making 20, James McWilliam 68no (67 balls) and Ben Rosbottom 65no (108 balls) took over and saw the visitors reach 181-4 in their fifty overs.
The Mawdesley bowling was Dominic Hendricks 2-47 from 15 overs, Joshua Adamson 1-32 off 10, Joshua Unsworth 1-56 from 13 and Neil O'Malley 0-43 off 12.
In reply Mawdesley were bowled out for 156 in 47.2 overs with Dominic Hendricks almost bringing victory to the hosts with his 89 (120 balls) supported by Will Caunce 22 (48 balls), Joshua Aamson 16 (44 balls) and Lee Berrie 16 (20 balls).
Jon Fenton with 5-32 off 14 overs doing the main damage but Muhammad Zaid 2-16 off 6 and Ewen Mansford 2-16 from 6 taking the vital wicket of Hendricks and removing the tail. The other bowlers Khalil Patel took 1-46 off 13 with Lewis Wellings 0-18 from 8 and Bendan Morris 0-37 off 4.
Netherfield v Chorley
Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and asked the visitors to bat first, they got off to a steady start but then lost three wickets for three runs.
Josh Wills made the breakthrough having Ben Simpkins caught and bowled for 12 (27 balls), 24-1, Harry Barclay was the Chorley number three but fell one run later bowled by Isaac Medhurst for 0 (6 balls), 25-2, Jurie Snyman was in next but lost Miller Childs caught by Ben Barrow off Josh Wills for 14 (45 balls), 27-3.
Zayn Wadiwala joined Snyman and their partnership was fourteen when both were out, Isaac Medhurst claimed wicket number two Jurie Snyman caught by Josh Dixon for 14 (18 balls), 41-4, Zayn Wadiwala followed caught behind by Lewis Edge off Samuel Medhurst for 0 (9 balls), 41-5.
Kieran Yould and Joseph Tiffin were the batsmen with the task of rebuilding the innings, Matt Jackson broke the partnership Joseph Tiffin caught by Josh Dixon for 17 (12 balls), 66-6
Matthew Sedgman replaced Tiffin but was soon out caught behind by Lewis Edge off Reece Irving for 6 (15 balls), 77-7, new batsman Sam Steeple did not fare any better lbw to Matt Jackson for 8 (17 balls), 88-8.
Kieran Yould had been keeping one end going and with his new partner James Lee proided the best partnership of the innings, Oli Wileman brought the innings to an end with two wickets in two balls. Kieran Yould's fighting innings came to an end caught behind by Lewis Edge for 38 (68 balls), 121-9 next ball Wileman bowled Matt Jackson for 0 (1 ball) as Chorley were 121 all out in 40.3 overs.
The wickets were shared amongst the Netherfield bowlers, Oli Wileman 2-9 from 3.3 overs, Matt Jackson 2-13 off 7, Isaac Medhurst 2-29 from 10, Josh Wills 2-32 off 9, Reece Irving 1-14 from 6 and Samuel Medhurst 1-24 off 5.
The Netherfield opening partnership was broken when Ben Barrow was caught behind by Harry Barclay off Jurie Snyman for 4 (35 balls), 28-1. Reece Irving joined Josh Dixon and they were scoring freely but with the total approaching the hundred Reece Irving fell caught behind by Harry Barclay off Joseph Tiffin for 24 (32 balls), 92-2
John Huck was the new batsman but with victory in sight he was caught by Ben Simpkins off Joseph Tiffin for 13 (15 balls), 116-3. Josh Dixon 72no (73 balls) and Will Beeden 2no (3 balls) saw the hosts to victory on 122-3 in 36.3 overs.
The win keeps the championship race open with only two games to go.
The Chorley bowling was Joseph Tiffin 2-12 from 3 overs, Jurie Snyman 1-27 off 15, Miller Childs 0-3 from 4, Sam Steeple 0-19 off 5, Matt Dawson 0-23 from 4 and James Lee 0-31 off 5.3.
Settle v Euxton
Settle won the toss at Marshfield and put the visitors into bat, Zane Nirodi and Aneeq Hassan gave them a great start with an opening partnership of 87 broken by Amar Ullah bowling Zane Nirodi for 33 (75 balls), 87-1.
Jack Morgan was in at three and continued the good progress, Aneeq Hassan was the next wicket to fall caught by Will Vause off Amar Ullah for 44 (119 balls), 122-2.
James Bone joined Morgan but lost his partner bowled by Tom Davidson for 36 (64 balls), 138-4. Jack Shovelton came in next but with only two runs added Amar Ullah had James Bone caught by Lloyd Smith for 3 (8 balls), 140-4
Ben Houghton replaced Bone, Amar Ullah struck having Jack Shovelton caught by William Davidson for 10 ( balls), 153-5. Daniel Barber came to the wicket but became wicket number five for Amar Ullah stumped by Benjamin Hulse for 3 (9 balls), 163-6.
That was the last success for the hosts as Euxton closed on 177-6 in their 50 overs with Ben Houghton 18no (11 balls) and Joseph Barker 6no (6 balls).
Amar Ullah took 5-40 from 15 overs, Tom Davidson 1-37 off 8, Eddy Read 0-14 from 8, Lloyd Smith 0-14 off 5, Ashen Silva 0-19 from 3, will Vause 0-11 off 2 and William Davidson 0-25 from 9.
In reply Settle were bowled out for 168 in 46.2 overs with eight players reaching double figures but not one scoring thirty or above,
Archie Phillipson top scored with 28 (23 balls) other scores were Tom Davidson 26 (25 balls), Amar Ullah 19 (32 balls), Lewis Smith 18 (39 balls), Ashen Silva 17 (34 balls), Benjamin Hulse 16 (32 balls), William Davidson 10 (15 balls) and Eddy Read 10 (18 balls).
