The fourteenth round of matches in the Northern Premier League 2024 season saw leaders Fleetwood v fourth placed Kendal and second placed Netherfield travel to third placed Leyland.
Fleetwood had a winning draw in a rain effected game at Kendal, Leyland beat Netherfield and move into second place
Congratulations to Euxton on their first win in the league against Mawdesley.
There were also wins for Blackpool against Fulwood & Broughton, Chorley over Longridge and Garstang verus Settle.
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Fulwood & Broughton
Blackpool won the toss at Stanley Park and invited the visitors to bat first, They got off to a terrible start losing both openers for two runs, James McWilliam was first out caught by Shivam Chaudhary off Matthew Grindley for 2 (3 balls), 2-1, Ben Parkinson followed caught behind by Ben Howarth off Harry Birkman for 0 (9 balls), 2-2.
Brendan Morris and Ben Rosbottom were the new batsmen, Matthew Grindley claimed his second wicket Brendan Morris lbw for 7 (20 balls), 21-3, Muhammad Zaid came in next and with Rosbottom they began to slowly build the score. Disaster struck for the visitors with Jamie Thomson claiming two quick wickets, his first Ben Rosbottom bowled for 20 (31 balls), 41-3, to balls later he had Lewis Wellings caught by Shivam Chaudhary for 0, 41-5.
Usama Abrar replaced Wellings, Jamie Thomson claimed his third wicket Muhammad Zaid caught by Josh Boyne for 15 (45 balls), 57-6. James Lupton was Abrar's new partner but with only sixteen runs added Usma Abrar was caught by Shivam Chaudhary off Josh Boyne for 9 (25 balls), 73-7.
Khalil Patel came in next and dug in. The re-introduction of Matthew Grindley into the attack had an immediate effect with two wickets, He bowled James Lupton for 17 (26 balls), 87-8, next ball he trapped Dom Jackson lbw for 0, 87-9.
The Fulwood & Broughton innings came to an end on 103 all out in 36.5 overs with Marcus Allen caught by Josh Boyne off Shivam Chaudhary for 9 (20 balls) leaving Khalil Patel 10no (40 balls).
The Blackpool bowling was Matthew Grindley 4-21 from 14 overs, Jamie Thomson 3-15 off 8, Shivam Chaudhary 1-1 from 1.1, Harry Birkman 1-28 off 6 and Josh Boyne 1-18 from 7.
In reply the hosts were soon in trouble, both openers went on the same score, Josh Boyne was the first to go lbw to Khalil Patel for 8 (9 balls), 14-1, Rishit Sharma followed also lbw to Marcus Allen for 5 (10 balls), 14-2.
The two new batsmen were Shivam Chaudhary and Andrew Needham, Marcus Allen soon accounted for Andrew Needham caught by Lewis Wellings for 0 (11 balls), 20-3. Stuart Ashford was next in but lost his partner Shivam Chaudhary bowled by Khalil Patel for 3 (6 balls), 22-4.
Ben Howarth replaced Chaudhary but on reaching 6 (12 balls) he was caught behind by James McWilliam off Marcus Allen, 29-5.
Blackpool looked to be in serious trouble but Arran Lewin joined Stuart Ashford and they carefully guided the hosts to vistory withouut further loss reaching 104-5 in 31.2 overs. Stuart Ashford was 43no (86 balls) and Arran Lewin 29no (57 balls).
The Fulwood & Broughton bowling was Marcus Allen 3-16 from 8 overs, Khalil Patel 2-41 off 11.2, Usama Abrar 0-6 from 1, Brendan Morris 0-7 off 4 and Lewis Wellings 0-27 from 7.
Kendal v Fleetwood
Fleetwood won the toss at Shap Road and decided to bat first, they looked to be off to a good start until Tomas King was caught by Chris Miller off Sam Sharp for 12 (24 balls), 23-1.
Vathsal Govind was in at three and with Andy Drake was keeping the scoreboard ticking over, the introduction of Freddie Fallows into the attack saw the breakthrough, in his second over he bowled Andy Drake for 26 (61 balls), 56-2.
Charkie Clark was the new man but with his score on 9 (26 balls) he was run out by Tim Boyd, 78-3. Jeremy Davies joined Govind and they were going well when Freddie Fallows took two wickets, Jeremy Davies was stumped by Finlay Richardson for 31 (53 balls), 141-4, next in Harry McAleer was bowled first ball for 0, 141-5.
Declan Clerkin replaced McAleer but after only one ball of the 44th over the weather intervened and the innings closed on 149 -5 in 44.1 overs with Vathsal Govind 52no (100 balls) and Declan Clerkin 1no (3 balls).
Freddie Fallows lead the way for Kendal with 3-44 from 15 overs, Sam Sharp took 1-19 off 6, Evan Williams 0-21 from 5 and Louis Backhouse 0-22 off 7.
When play resumed the hosts had a revised total of 170 from 50 overs for victory, they got off to the worst start losing Freddie Fallows caught by Vathsal Govind off Declan Clerkin off the second ball of the innings, 0-1.
Max Winskill came to the wicket and with Evan Williams began to move the score along until Evan Williams was caught behind by Harry McAleer off James Amor for 5 (21 balls), 28-2.
Bradley Earl was next in but on 3 (11 balls) he was bowled by James Amor, 32-3. Finlay Richardson replaced Earl and with Winskill were looking dangerous, Vathsal Govind broke the partnership having Finlay Richardson caught by Nathan Bend for 21 (34 balls), 82-4.
Lewis Richardson joined Winskill and they looked to be swinging the game into the hosts favour until Vathsal Govind bowled Max Winskill for 61 (110 balls), 134-5.
Tim Boyd was the new man but the re-introduction of Declan Clerkin saw him take two wickets in two balls, He had Tim Boyd caught behind by Harry McAleer for 2 (4 balls), 139-6, next ball Sam Sharp was stumped by Harry McAleer for 0, 139-7.
Louis Backhouse came in at nine but fell bowled by Declan Clerkin for 1 (5 balls), 151-8. The innings closed on 160-8 in 43 overs just ten short of victory with Lewis Richardson 52no (75 balls) and Chris Miller 2no (5 balls).
For Fleetwood Declan Clerkin took 4-31 from 10 overs, Vathsal Govind 2-38 off 13, James Amor 2-50 from 11, Jack Wilkinson 0-13 off 4 and Jeremy Davies 0-25 from 5.
Leyland v Netherfield
Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and put the visitors into bat, Netherfield started well until Ross Bretherton made the breakthrough bowling Reece Irving for 11 (39 balls), 33-1.
Ben Barrow came in at three but with only eight runs added two wickets fell, Josh Dixon was caught by Zak Willox off Andrew Jacques for 21 (55 balls), 41-2, In the next over Ben Barrow was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Ross Bretherton for 0 (13 balls), 41-3.
We now had two new batsmen John Huck and Riley Vernon, there was a feeling of deja vu as two wickets fell once again eight runs later, John Huck was caught by Karl Cross off Andrew Jacques for 4 (12 balls), 49-4, three balls later Jacques bowled Will Beeden for 0 (3 balls), 49-5.
Lewis Edge replaced Beeden but soon lost his partner Riley Vernon lbw to Ross Bretherton for 12 (16 balls), 57-6, Oli Wileman was next in but for the third time in this innings two wickets fell on the same score, Ross Bretherton claimed his fifth wicket Oli Wileman stumped by Adam Sexton for 4 (12 balls), 69-7, his replacement Samuel Medhurst quickly followed caught by James Critchley off Ross Bretherton for 0 (7 balls), 69-8.
Josh Wills was next in but lost his partner Lewis Edge caught by James Critchley off Andew Jacques for 10 (29 balls), 72-9. Kurtis Watson brought the innings to an end having Matt Jackson caught by Iain Critchley for 18 (13 balls) as Netherfield were bowled out for 97 in 33.3 overs with Josh Wills 5no (8 balls).
Ross Bretherton and Andrew Jacques did the damage with Ross Bretherton 5-26 from 15 overs, Andrew Jacques 4-39 off 11 and Kurtis Watson 1-28 from 7.3
Karl Cross and James Critchley opened for the hosts and got them off to a good start, The stand was broken by Samuel Medhurst having Karl Cross caught by John Huck for 28 (17 balls), 37-1.
Zak Willox was the number three but soon lost his partner James Critchley caught behind by Lewis Edge off Matt Jackson for 14 (20 balls), 43-2. Kurtis Watson was in next and became Matt Jacson's second victim bowled for 9 (20 balls), 65-3.
Ross Bretherton joined Zak Willox, Matt Jackson gave the visitors a glimmer of hope when he had Zak Willox caught behind by Lewis Edge for 22 (33 balls), 74-4.
Jacob Wright replaced Willox but with only nine runs added the Edge/Jackson combination saw the end of Ross Bretherton for 8 (16 balls), 83-5. That was the last success for the visitors as Jacob Wright 16no (20 balls) and Andrew Makinson 2no (11 balls) saw the hosts to victory on 101-5 in 22.4 overs.
Matt Jackson took 4-33 from 9.4 overs, Samuel Medhurst 1-29 off 6, Josh Wills 0-18 from 2 and Riley Verno 0-21 off 5.
Longridge v Chorley
Chorley won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and elected to bat first, The openers Will Moulton amd Miller Childs got them off to a good start, Jake Durnell made the breakthrough having Will Moulton caught by Rob Hollinghurst for 37 (30 balls), 53-1.
The Chorley number three was Harry Barclay, He lost his partner Miller Childs caught and bowled by Jake Durnell for 22 (40 balls), 82-2. Marques Ackerman came to the wicket but he soon lost Harry Barclay bowled by Jake Durnell for 25 (34 balls), 95-3.
Zayn Wadiwala joined Ackerman but on reaching 8 (12 balls) he was bowled by Alex Mason, 118-4, Edwin Moulton was next in but was soon out caught behind by Tom Turner off Gabriel Dowthwaite for 2 (10 balls), 138-5.
Ben Simpkins was Ackerman's new partner they took control with a partnership of 82 runs, Ben Simpkins was the man out caught behind by Tom Turner off Alex Mason for 24 (25 balls), 220-6. Joseph Tiffin replaced Simpkins but was run out by Gabriel Dowthwaite for 7 (13 balls), 231-7.
The arrival of James Dunn at the wicket saw Marques Ackerman reach his century with a six, He then went on the attack scoring 49 runs in the next five overs, he was next out caught by Rhys Morgan off Alex Mason for 148 (84 balls) (6x4, 14x6), 294-8
Sam Steeple was in at ten and was trapped lbw for 1 (7 balls) by Jacob Proctor. Chorley declared their innings on 295-9 in 45.4 overs with James Dunn 13no (19 balls).
The Longridge bowling Alex Mason 3-56 from 13 overs, Jake Durnell 3-89 off 15, Jacob Proctor 1-56 from 6.4, Gabriel Dowthwaite 1-75 off 9 and Jonathan Millward 0-14 from 14.
Joshua Mullin and Rhys Morgan gave the hosts a brilliant start chasing the large total, Rhys Morgan was the first out caught by Will Moulton off Sam Steeple for 31 (35 balls), 63-1.
Luke Platt came in but quickley lost Joshua Mullin bowled by Sam Steeple for27 (43 balls), 66-2. Zac Christie was the new batsman but fell early bowled by Matt Dawson for 6 (8 balls), 79-3.
Rob Hollinghurst replaced Christie and with Luke Platt took the score past the hundred then he was trapped lbw by Sam Steeple for 20 (17 balls), 102-4. Tom Turner was next in and was soon out caught behind by Harry Barclay off Edwin Moulton for 3 (9 balls), 109-5.
Alex Mason was Luke Platt's new partner but became Edwin Moulton's second victim caught by Marques Ackerman for 3 (10 balls), 119-6. Gabriel Dowthwaite joined Platt and they began to keep the scoreboard ticking over until Luke Platt was caught by Will Moulton off Marques Ackerman for 33 (60 balls), 141-7.
Gabriel Dowthwaite followed soon after caught by Will Moulton off Matt Dawson for 17 (34 balls), 147-8. Marques Ackerman finished off the Longridge innings, Jake Durnell was caught by Zayn Wadiwala for 5 (11 balls), 151-9, In his next over he had Jacob Proctor lbw for 0 (3 balls) s Longridge were bowled out for 151 in 39.2 overs with Jonathan Millward 0no (7 balls).
The wickets were shared amongst the Chorley bowlers, Marques Ackerman 3-27 from 8.2 overs, Sam Steeple 3-28 off 7, Matt Dawson 2-27 from 8, Edwin Moulton 2-29 off 11 and James Dunn 0-35 from 5.
Mawdesley v Euxton
Euxton won the toss at Rectory Field and chose to bat first, The hosts got off to a bad start losing Ben Houghton on the third ball bowled by Joshua Unsworth for 0, 0-1.
James Bone was the visitors number three and with Aneeq Hassan were starting to build the innings when Hassan was run out by Thomas Proctor for 17 (35 balls), 29-2.
The new man in was Sam Sweeney and the partnership was 28 broken by Daniel Unsworth having Sam Sweeney caught behind by Thomas Proctor for 10 (21 balls), 57-3.
Max Harper joined Bone and they were going well when they lost two quick wickets, James Bone was first to go caught by Ben Munslow off Daniel Unsworth for 40 (78 balls), 97-4, one run later new man Jack Shovelton was caught and bowled by Dominic Hendricks for 0 (5 balls), 98-5.
Zane Nirodi was Max Harper's new partner and were making progress until Dominic Hendricks claimed his second wicket Zane Nirodi caught by Christopher Andrews for 15 (14 balls), 120-6.
Joseph Barker replaced Nirodi but lost his partner Max Harper caught by Christopher Andrews off Daniel Unsworth for 31 (55 balls), 128-7.
Joseph Barker and Louis Sweeney battled on but the last three wickets went for four runs, Louis Sweeney was the first to go caught by Dominic Hendricks off Daniel Unsworth for 8 (25 balls), 146-8, two runs later Joshua Unsworth was caught and bowled by Joseph Barker for 15 (21 balls), 148-9. Daniel Unsworth claimed his fifth wicket Danny Curtis caught behind by Thomas Proctor for 2 (6 balls) as the Euxton innings closed on 150 all out in 43.3 overs with Joseph Bowden 0no (1 ball)
Daniel Unsworth lead the way with 5-45 form 13.3 overs supported by Dominic Hendricks 2-23 off 7, Joshua Unsworth 2-29 from 11, Neil O'Malley 0-18 off 4 and Joshua Adamson 0-30 from 8.
The Mawdesley opening partnership of Daniel Unsworth and Ben Munslow did well until both became Jack Shovelton victims, Daniel Unsworth was lbw for 11 (17 balls), 36-1, Ben Munslow was bowled for 24 (30 balls), 39-2.
We now had two new batsmen Christopher Andrews and Dominic Hendricks, The introduction of James Bone into the attack saw him take two quick wickets, He bowled Dominic Hendricks for 3 (4 balls), 46-3, next he trapped Lee Berrie lbw for 0 (9 balls), 46-4.
Nine runs were added when Joseph Barker took two wickets on the same score, Alexander Berry was out lbw for 1 (6 balls), 55-5, Nathan Trengrove was bowled for 0 (4 balls), 55-6.
James Bone claimed his third wicket Joseph Unsworth caught by Jack Shovelton for 0 (4 balls), 60-7. Christopher Andrew's battling innigs came to an end stumped by Danny Curtis for 22 (44 balls), 69-8.
Joshua Adamson and Thomas Proctor were the new batsmen, James Bone took his fifth wicket Thomas Proctor caught by Aneeq Hassan for 11 (8 balls), 83-9, Mawdesley were bowled out for 88 in 24.5 overs when Neil O'Malley was caught by Aneeq Hassan off Joseph Barker for 4 (4 balls) with Joshua Adamson 4no (19 balls).

Settle v Garstang
Garstang won the toss at Marshfield and chose to bat first, Imran Butt and Michael Walling looked to be going well until Imran Butt was caught by James Snowden off Lloyd Smith for 22 (21 balls), 33-1.
Matthew Crowther came in at three but with only eight runs added Tom Davidson struck with two wickets in two balls, Michael Walling was caught behind by Robbie Davidson for 16 (28 balls), 39-2, next ball Tom Higson was caught by Jurie Snyman for 0, 39-3.
Mark Walling joined Matthew Crowther and they had doubled the score when Mark Walling was caught by Benjamin Hulse off Amar Ullah for 11 (34 balls), 78-4. Joseph Pearson was next in and with Crowther were going well until once again Tom Davidson claimed two wickets in two balls, Joseph Pearson was the first to go bowled for 27 (57 balls), 148-5, next ball he trapped Danny Gilbert lbw for 0, 148-6.
Ernie Collinson was Matthew Crowther's new partner, Tom Davidson claimed his fifth victim the prize wicket of Matthew Crowther caught behind by Robbie Davidson for 71 (112 balls), 169-7.
Alfie Greaves came to the wicket with five overs to go, he was scoring at a run a ball until he was bowled by Amar Ullah for 6 (6 balls), 176-8. Ian Walling replaced Greaves but soon became Amar Ulaah's third wicket caught by John Davidson for 0 (3 balls), 184-9.
In at number eleven was Edward Pearson 3no (8 balls) and with Ernie Collinso 35 no (30 balls) saw the visitors close on 204-9 in their 50 overs.
Tom Davidson took 5-69 from 15 overs, Amar Ullah 3-34 off 15, Lloyd Smith 1-40 from 8, Will Smith 0-14 off 2 and Benjamin Hulse 0-35 from 10.
The hosts did not get off to the best of starts losing both openers to Danny Gilbert for 19, Lewis Smith was lbw for 10 (11 balls), 16-1, John Davidson was caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 5 (20 balls), 19-2.
The two new batsmen were Jurie Snyman and Amar Ullah with the task to get the innings back on course, Ian Walling had other ideas and Amar Ullah was caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 6 (23 balls), 40-3.
Danny Gilbert swung the game in the visitors favour with three wickets for two runs, Jurie Snyman was caught by Imran Butt for 22 (36 balls), 48-4, Archie Phillipson was his fifth wicket lbw for 0 (3 balls), 48-5, two runs later he bowled James Snowden for 2 (7 balls), 50-6.
Benjamin Hulse was joined by Tom Davidson and when it looked as if they were making progress Danny Gilbert struck again having Benjamin Hulse caught by Tom Higson for 11 (31 balls), 73-7.
Lloyd Smith replaced Hulse and continued the fight. Michael Walling broke the partnership, Tom Davidson caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 18 (27 balls), 94-8.
Robbie Davidson was in next and dug in to try and save the game but lost his partner Lloyd Smith caught by Ian Walling off Tom Higson for 15 (38 balls), 102-9.
The last man in was Will Smith with 14 overs to go, Victory came to the visitors when Robbie Davidson was caught by Imran Butt off Tom Higson 16 (61 balls) as Settle were bowled out for 126 in 48.2 overs with Will Smith 13no (33 balls).
The Garstang hero was Danny Gilbert with 6-51 from 15 overs supported by Tom Higson 2-25 off 10.2, Micchael Walling 1-1 from 6, Ian Walling 1-19 off 11, Imran Butt 0-1 from 2 and Edward Pearson 0-22 off 4.
