The eleventh round of matches in the Northern Premier League 2024 season saw the weather once more have its say
There were three games abandoned without a ball being bowled and two played with reduced overs and only one full game played.
The one full game played was between St Annes and Mawdesley with Mawdesley winning their first game of the season. In the reduced over games Fulwood & Brougton defeated Chorley and Euxton had a winning draw against leaders Fleetwood.
the matches between Garstang v Netherfield, Kendal v Longridge and Settle v Leyland were abandoned.
On Sunday Chorley beat Mawdesley in a rearranged game.
DIVISION ONE:
Chorley v Fulwood & Broughton
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park in a reduced over match of 50 overs, the hosts invited the visitors to bat first, the openers Matthew Smith and James McWilliam got off to a good start ended when James McWilliam was run out by Ben Simpkins for 16 (17 balls), 38-1.
New man in was Brendan Morris, he lost his partner Matthew Smith caught by Marques Ackerman off Sam Steeple for 25 (33 balls), 45-2, Morris soon followed stumped by Ben Simpkins off Matt Dawson for 4 (12 balls), 49-3. Sam Steeple struck with two wickets in two balls, bowling Simon Kerrigan for 3 (10 balls), 51-4, next ball having Muhammad Zaid lbw for 0, 51-5.
Ben Rosbottom 29no (41 balls) and Ben Parkinson 34no (37 balls) saw the visitors close on 114-5 in their 25 overs.
The Chorley bowling was Sam Steeple 3-31 from 8 overs, Matt Dawson 1-31 off 8, James Dunn 0-21 from 5 and Edwin Moulton 0-28 off 4.
The Chorley reply got off to a bad start losing three early wickets, Khalil Patel doing the damage, he trapped Will Moulton lbw for 0 (10 balls), 6-1, four balls later he had Harry Barclay caught by Brendan Morris for 0 (4 balls), 6-2. he then took the prize wicket of Marques Ackerman caught behind by James McWilliam for 8 (8 balls), 14-3.
Miiler Childs and Zayn Wadiwala began the rebuild and were kepping the scoreboard ticking over until Simon Kerrigan broke the partnership, Miller Childes was the man out caught by Marcus Allen for 14 (39 balls), 43-4.
Two runs had been added when Kerrigan bowled Edwin Moulton for 1 (2 balls), 45-5. Zayn Wadiwala and Ben Simpkins were batting steadily, In the 22nd over Khalil Patel broke the partnership having Ben Simpkins caught by Ben Parkinson for 21 (25 balls), 83-6.
There were three overs left when disaster struck for the home side losing three wickets in three balls without further addition to the score, Zayn Wadiwala was stumped by James McWilliam for 34 (44 balls), 83-7, next ball James Dunn was run out by Simon Kerrigan for 0, 83-8, Joseph Tiffin was caught by Matthew Smith off Simon Kerrigan for 0 (2 balls), 83-9.
The visitors claimed victory when Khalil Patel took his fifth wicket having Matt Dawson caught by Simon Kerrigan for 4 (6 balls) as Chorley were bowled out for 88 in 23.4 overs with Sam Steeple 1no (1 ball).

Euxton v Fleetwood
Fleetwood won the toss at Balshaw Park and put the hosts into bat in a reduced 44 over match. Exton got off to a bad start osing Joseph Barker in the first over stumped by Charlie Clark off Declan Clerkin for 0 (5 balls), 0-1.
Ben Houghton and James Bone began scoring freely, Matthew Siddall broke the partnership Ben Houghton caught and bowled for 33 (23 balls) (7x4), 58-2.
Aneeq Hassan was next in but soon fell to Matthew Siddall caught by Andy Drake for 8 (11 balls), 75-3, Zane Gilder was the new batsmen and was scoring at a run a ball until he was lbw to Vathsal Govind for 12 (13 balls), 90-4.
In came Jack Shovelton and kept the momentum going, he was next out caught behind by Charlie Clark for 17 (11 balls), 113-5. James Bone 55 no (62 balls) lead the way as Euxton closed on 137-5 in their 22 overs with Max Harper 7no (8 balls).
For Fleetwood Matthew Siddall took 3-37 from 7 overs, Vathsal Govind took 1-38 off 7, Declan Clerkin 1-39 from 6 and Kian Farnworth 0-20 off 2.
The visitors needed a good start but lost both openers cheaply, Jack Shovelton bowled Tomas King for 3 (7 balls), 7-1, Charlie Clark followed run out by James Bone for 5 (24 balls), 18-2.
Vathsal Govind and Andy Drake steadied the ship, Zane Gilder joined the attack and had Vathsal Govind caught by Max Harper for 15 (27 balls), 57-3, Declan Clerkin was next in but disaster struck for the visitors as two wickets fell without addition, Declan Clerkin was caught by Aneeq Hassan off Zane Gilder for 10 (9 balls), 72-4, new batsman Nathan Bend followed two balls later bolwed by Gilder for 0, 72-5.
Callum Birtwell-Jones came in but was quickly run out by Jack Shovelton for 0 (1 ball), 77-6. Joseph Davies joined Andy Drake and both were out in the last of their twenty two overs, James Bone bowled Joseph Davies for 18 (16 balls), 105-7, then had Andy Drake on the last ball of the innings caught by Aneeq Hassan off James Bone for 37 (49 balls) as Fleetwood closed on 110-8 with William Haddow 3no (2 balls).
The Euxton bowling was Zane Gilder 3-37 from 6 overs, James Bone 2-4 off 1, Jack Shovleton 1-25 from 7, Chris Pearson 0-11 off 4 and Joseph Barker 0-24 from 4.

St Annes won the tos at Vernon Road and chose to bat first, Yohan De Silva went cheaply caught by Dominic Hendricks off Joshua Adamson for 4 (8 balls), 9-1
Nathan Bolus was in at three and with Lukman Vahaluwala leading the way were making progress until Nathan Bolus was caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Joshua Unsworth for 3 (14 balls) 33-1
Gurman Bains replaced Bolus but was soon out bowled by Joshua Adamson for 2 (10 balls), 44-3. Joshua Adamson struck with twowickets in three balls, Lukman Vahaluwala out lbw for 27 (34 balls) 60-4. Mitch Bolus followed bowled for 0 (2 balls), 60-5
James Bradley joined Tom Bradley and they had the task to try and recover the situation, Daniel Unsworth broke the partnership having James Bradley caught by Matthew Parkinson for 3 (20 balls). 75-6
Ryan Birkman was next in and with Tom Bradley were making good progress until both were ouut on the same score, Ryan Birkman went first bowled by Dominic Hendricks for 16 (33 balls), 112-7, Tom Bradley followed bowled by Joshua Unsworth for 46 (82 balls), 112-8.
Joe Davies and Joe Hayton were the new batsmen and were keeping the scoreboard ticking over until Joe Davies was bowled by Dominic Hendricks for 14 (28 balls), 146-9
Last man in was Ashen Daluwattage who was soon out caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Joshua Unsworth for 1 (3 balls) as St Annes were bowled out for 149 in 42.3 overs with Joe Hayton 22no (21 balls).
The Mawdesley bowling was Joshua Adamson 4-29 from 10 overs, Joshua Unsworth 3-46 off 13.3, Dominic Hendricks 2-37 from 11 and Daniel Unsworth 1-27 off 8
The visitors got off to a great start with an opening partnership of 79 broken by Joe Hayton having Fyffe Dennis caught by Gurman Bains for 37 (71 balls), 79-1, Dominic Hendricks came in at three but lost Daniel Unsworth bowled by Joe Hayton for 43 (92 balls), 94-2.
Ben Munslow joined Hendricks and gave him support, the return of Lukman Vahaluwala gave the hosts hope with the fall of three wickets for four runs, Dominic Hendricks was caught by Nathan Bolus off Vahaluwala for 34 (28 balls), 124-3, two runs later new man Christopher Andrews was caught behind by James Bradley off Joe Hayton for 1 (18 balls), 126-4, Vahaluwala struck again with Ben Munslow caught by Joe Hayton for 6 (29 balls), 128-5.
New batsmen Lee Berrie and Nathan Trengrove kept the scoreboard ticking over but with victory in sight Trengrove was caught behind by James Bradley off Mitch Bolus for 4 (18 balls), 143-6. Lee Berrie hit the first two balls off the next over for four to give Mawdesley their first win in the league closing on 151-6 in 45.2 overs. Lee Berrie was 14no (16 balls) and Joshua Unworth 0no.
Joe Hayton took 3-24 from 12 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala 2-36 off 12.2, Mitch Bolus 1-27 from 8, Ashen Daluwattage 0-26 off 5 and Yohan De Silva 0-28 from 8.
Sunday 16th June
Mawdesley v Chorley
In this re-arranged match from early on in the season Mawdesley won the toss in a 66 over game at Rectory Field and invited the visitors to bat first. The decision looked a good one with the taking of three ealry wickets, Joshua Unsworth did the damage, bowling Will Moulton for 7 (21 balls), 8-1, four balls later he bowled Harry Barclay for 0 (4 balls), 8-2. Opener Miller Childs was his third victim bowled for 6 (13 balls), 14-3.
Ben Simpkins joined Marques Ackerman and with Ackerman leading the way they took the score past the hundred, Joshua Adamson made the breakthrough having ben Simpkins caught by Dominic Hendricks for 17 (35 balls), 105-3, two runs later he had Kieran Yould out the same way caught by Dominic Hendricks for 0 (8 balls), 107-5.
Joseph Tiffin was next in but lost his partner Marques Ackerman caught and bowled by Joshua Adamson for 81 (61 balls)(9x4 3x6), 124-6. Matthew Sedgman was the new batsman but fell caught behind by Fyffe Dennis off Daniel Unsworth for 6 (11 balls), 138-7.
Sam Steeple was Joseph Tiffin's next partner, Chorley were going for the runs when Daniel Unsworth bowled Joseph Tiffin for 29 (34 balls), James Lee was run out by Daniel Unsworth on the last ball of the innings for 1 (1 ball) as Chorley closed on 173-9 in 33 overs with Sam Steeple 14no (12 balls).
The Mawdesley bowling was Joshua Unsworth 3-44 from 10 overs, Joshua Adamson 3-50 off 3, Daniel Unsworth 2-40 from 9 and Dominic Hendricks 0-33 off 4.
In reply the hosts collapsed with only Nathan Trengrove 35 and Joshua Unsworth 24 reaching double figures as Mawdesley were bowled out for 112 in 29 overs.
The wickets were shared out amongst the Chorley bowlers. Sam Steeple lead the way with 4-21 from 10 overs supported by Matt Dawson 3-40 off 9, Miller Childs 2-15 from 5 and Marques Ackerman 1-27 off 5.
