The Match between Netherfield and Penrith was postponed due to a serious injury to Ben Ellis of Penrith CC. Our thoughts and good wishes go to Ben, family, friends and Penrith CC
Round 9 of the Northern Premier League saw the battle of last season's champions Garstang versus the current League leaders Longridge with Garstang coming out winners.
There were also wins for Chorley, Fulwood & Broughton and Kendal with Blackpool having a winnning draw against Leyland
We now have joint leaders in Chorley and Kendal, new comers Eccleston (Chorley) deserve a mention coming very close to their first win in their match against Kendal
Blackpool v Leyland
Leyland won the toss at Stanley park and invited the hosts to bat first, the opening partnership of Tomas King and Jake Muncaster was broken by Kerwin Mungroo having Jake Muncaster caught behind by Adam Sexton for 0 (1 ball), 8-1
The inform Shavim Chaudhary came in at three and with Tomas King were making good progress until Tomas King was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Kurtis Watson for 16 (18 balls), 31-2. Josh Boyne was the new man in and with Chaudhary looked to be steering the hosts to a big score, Iain Critchley had other idea's he had Boyne caught behind by Adam Sexton for 31 (56 balls), 110-4
Shivam Chaudhary's new partner was Dylan Henshall who was out bowled by Andrew Jacques for 6 (14 balls), 110-4, Stuart Ashford was next in and battled away until he was bowled by Kurtis Watson for 6 (32 balls), 138-5
Matthew Grindley joined Chaudhary but soon became Iain Critchley's second wicket caught by Andrew Jacques for 5 (17 balls), 154-6, Shivam Chaudhary moved to his fourth century of the season but lost his partner Izatullah Stankzai caught by Karl Cross off Kurtis Watson for 8 (14 balls)169-7
Kurtis Watson claimed his fourth wicket bowling new batsman Paul Danson for 1 (9 balls), 173-8, William Vause was in next but with the score on 200 he was caught behind by Adam Sexton off Kerwin Mungroo for 0 (8 balls), 200-9
Last Man in was Jamie Thomson 1no (2 balls) and with Shivam Chaudhary 121no (133 balls) saw Blackpool close on 207-9 in their 50 overs
The Leyland bowling was Kurtis Watson 4-71 from 15 overs, Kerwin Mungroo 2-33 off 10, Iain Critchley 2-42 from 15 and Andrew Jacques 1-52 off 10
The visitors reply got off to a bad start losing both openers cheaply, James Rounding was first bowled by William Vause for 2 (10 balls), 4-1, Jacob Wright followed caught behind by Stuart Ashford off Matthew Grindley for 3 (19 balls) 10-2
Zak Willox and James Critchley were the new batsmen, Matthew Grindley struck having James Critchley caught by Tomas King for 11 (12 balls), 34-3, Andrew Makinson replaced Critchley but soon became Grindley's third victim bowled for 1 (12 balls), 42-4
Kurtis Watson joined Zak Willox and they slowly began to rebuild the innings, Izatullah Stankzai broke the partneship trapping Zak Willox lbw for 31 (61 balls), 68-5, Karl Cross took over and continued the fight, the partnership had nearly doubled the score when Karl Cross was caught by Josh Boyne off Matthew Grindley for 28 (48 balls), 127-6
Iain Critchley 17no (25 balls) was the next man in and with Kurtis Watson 62no (113 balls) saw the visitors close on 168-6 in their 50 overs
For Blackpool Matthew Grindley took 4-48 from 15 overs, William Vause 1-26 off 5, Izatuulah Stankzai 1-35 from 11, Josh Boyne 0-23 off 11 and Jamie Thomson 0-23 from 8
Chorley v Fleetwood
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and chose to bat first, all their batsmen were in the runs, Alfie Dobson lead the way with 97 supported by Roshen Silva 64, Joshua Pistorius 53no, Will Moulton 36 and Zayn Wadiwala 13no as the hosts closed on 270-3 in their 50 overs
The Fleetwood bowling was Tiaan Van Vuuren 2-69 from 15 overs, Declan Clerkin 1-88 off 15, William Haddow 0-18 from 4, Rizwan Patel 0-34 off 4 and Jack Wilkinson 0-55 from 12
Fleetwood made a valiant effort but were bowled out on the last ball for 245, Charlie Clark was top scorer with 51 with runs form Harry McAleer 50, Nathan Bend 31, Declan Clerkin 31 and Andy Drake 26
The wickets were shared amongst the Chorley bowlers with Joshua Pistorius leading the way with 4-59 from 12 overs, Sam Steeple 2-43 off 11, Will Moulton 1-19 from 6, Ian Oakes 1-31 off 7, Edwin Moulton 1-33 from 9 and Jamess Dunn 0-36 off 5
Garstang v Longridge
It was the current League champions Garstang v the current League leaders at the Riverside Sports ground, Longridge won the toss and decided to bat first, James Whitehead and Joshua Mullin opened for the visitors, Ian Walling with the third ball of the match bowled James Whitehead for 0 (3 balls), 0-1
Matthew De Villiers was the Longridge number three and with Mullin steadily moved the score on, Their partnership was broken by Michael Walling bowling Joshua Mullin for 8 (38 balls), 38-2, next in was Zac Christie but he soon lost Matthew De Villiers caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Waris Khan for 35 (48 balls), 48-3
The incoming batsman was Luke Platt and with Christie took the score past the hundred, Ian Walling claimed his second wicket Zac Christie caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 34 (48 balls), 113-4, Zach Proctor joined Luke Platt and was the next to go bowled by Michael Walling for 12 (35 balls), 142-5
Luke Platt's patient innings came to an end caught behind by Matthew Crowther off Gregour Carr for 52 (83 balls), 146-6, the two new batsmen were Tom Turner and Caleb Bradford but with only ten runs added Caleb Bradford became Gregour Carr's second wicket bowled for 8 (9 balls), 156-7
Jake Durnell joined Turner but soon fell to Gregour Carr caught and bowled for 9 (13 balls), 180-8, Gregour Carr picked up wicket number four bowling Matt Greenall for 2 (4 balls), 182-9. Tom Turner 19no (21 balls) and last man Jonathan Millward 0no (2 balls) saw the visitors close on 185-9 in their 50 overs
The Garstang bowling was Gregour Carr 4-32 from 8 overs, Michael Walling 2-39 off 15, Ian Walling 2-54 from 15, Waris Khan 1-27 off 5 and Joel Anthony Derham 0-27 from 7
Michael Walling and Luke Platt opened for the champions and put the hosts in strong position until Matt Greenall claimed two quick wickets, he had Michael Walling caught by Zach Proctor for 34 (50 balls) 77-1, shortly afterwards Matthew Crowther was caught behind by Tom Turner for 2 (13 balls), 81-2
The new batsman was Mark Walling who was caught by Matthew De Villiers off Caleb Bradford for 4 (7 balls), 87-3. Ryan Pearson joined Luke Smith and they began to look dangerous for the visitors until Jake Durnell bowled Luke Smith for 58 (70 balls), 125-4
Jake Durnell turned the screw for the visitors by taking two wickets, Hugo Croft was caught by Luke Platt for 3 (24 balls), 133-5, he then had Ashton Charles caught behind by Tom Turner for 3 (14 balls), 139-6.
Ian Walling was the new batsman and with Ryan Pearson looked to be steering the hosts to victory until Joanthan Millward struck taking two wickets in two balls, he bowled Ryan Peareson for 44 (69 balls), 167-7, next ball he trapped Gregour Carr lbw for 0 (1 ball), 167-8
The game was evenly balanced, the hosts required 21 runs and the visitors two wickets, Ian Walling lead the way to victory with 27no (34 balls) supported by Joel Anthony Derham 4no (11 balls) as Garstang closed on 188-8 in 48.2 overs
The Longridge bowling was Jake Durnell 3-34 from 15 overs, Matt Greenall 2-44 off 11, Jonathan Millward 2-57 from 13.2, Caleb Bradford 1-33 off 6 and Matthew De Villiers 0-12 from 3
Kendal v Eccleston (Chorley)
Eccletson (Chorley) won the toss and elected to bat first, they lost both openers early, Adam Norris was bowled by Toby Tyson for 1 (14 balls), 5-1. without any addition to the score Martyn James Brierley followed caught by Chirag Khurana off Kuldeep Singh for 4 (12 balls), 5-2
The two new batsmen were Thomas Foster and Matthew Ashcroft, they were turning the game around when Thomas Foster was out lbw to Kuldeep Singh for 10 (24 balls), 30-3. Nathan McDonnell joined Ashcroft and they took the score past the hundred, Chris Miller broke the partnership having Matthew Ashcroft caught by Toby Tyson for 47 (69 balls), 104-4
Next in was Reece Thomas but soon lost his partner Nathan McDonnell lbw to Chirag Khurana for 47 (48 balls), 112-5, Thomas Wilinson was the new batsman but fell bowled by Max Winskill for 1 (7 balls), 138-6. Michael Atkinson joined Thomas, Max Winskill claimed his second wicket having Reece Thomas caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 28 (28 balls), 144-7
Michael Atkinson had a new partner in Jordan Bentham and they moved the score along until Chirag Khurana caught and bowled Jordan Bentham for 10 (23 balls), 165-8, Chirag Khuruna finished off the tail, Nick Fowler was caught by Toby Tyson for 0 (10 balls) 169-9. He closed the innings on 187 all out in 46.3 overs by having Jack McKenna caught and bowled for 10 (12 balls), Michael Atkinson was undefeated on 12 (36 balls)
For Kendal Chirag Khurana took 4-31 from 11.3 overs, Max Winskill 2-18 off 2, Kuldeep Singh 2-33 from 11, Toby Tyson 1-22 off 7, Chris Miller 1-23 from 3, Louis Backhouse 0-28 off 5 and Freddie Fallows 0-32 from 7
Freddie Fallows and Oliver Tyson opened, Freddie Fallows hit 18 off the first over of the innings bowled by Reece Thomas, in the fourth over Oliver Tyson was caught by Jack McKenna off Michael Atkinson for 5 (8 balls), 41-1
Max Winskill came in at three but soon lost his partner Freddie Fallows caught by Michael Atkinson off Nathan McDonnell for 43 (24 balls), 57-2, Chirag Khurana was next in and was soon out caught by Nick Fowler off Reece Thomas for 10 (15 balls), 70-3,
Bradley Earl joined Winskill, Nathan McDonnell claimed his second wicket Earl caught by Thomas Wilkinson for 23 (18 balls), 99-4. The incoming batsman was Finlay Richardson who fell lbw to Nathan McDonnell for 0 (5 balls), 101-5, the game swung towards the visitors with the loss of Lewis Richardson bowled by Thomas Foster for 2 (8 balls), 108-6, Chris Miller followed caught by Thomas Foster off Nathan McDonnell for 2 (16 balls), 119-7
The game was looking good for the visitors they required 3 wickets with 20 overs to go and the hosts needing 70 runs for victory. Toby Tyson was the new batsman and with Max Winskill kept the scoreboard ticking over, Reece Thomas broke the partnership having Max Winskill caught by Matthew Ashcroft for 45 (113 balls), 148-8
The game could go either way with twelve overs left two wickets for the visitors 40 runs for the hosts, making his Kendal debut was Louis Backhouse and with Toby Tyson continued the move towards victory, Thomas Foster caught and bowled Toby Tyson for 21 (36 balls), 172-9, Seven overs 1 wicket or 16 runs
Last man in was Kuldeep Singh 6no (8 balls) and with Louis Backhouse 26no (28 balls) saw the hosts to victory closing on 189-9 in 46 overs. Eccleston (Chorley) were so close to their first win but it must have given them hope for the future.

St Annes v Fulwood & Broughton
St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and decided to bat first, Openers Yohan de Silva and Tom Higson batted carefully, Simon Kerrigan broke the partnership having Tom Higson lbw for 11 (13 balls), 26-1
Nathan Bolus came in at three, seven runs had been added when disaster struck for the home team losing three wickets without addition, Simon Kerrigan had Yohan de Silva lbw for 19 (36 balls), 33-2, next ball Kerrigan had Nathan Armstrong stumped by Mike Sambell for 0 (1 ball), 33-3.
Luke Jardine came to the wicket and lost Nathan Bolus caught behind by Mike Sambell of Khalil Patel for 1 (11 balls), 33-4, things did not improve with the loss of two wickets on the same score for the hosts with new batsman Alec McGloughlin caught by Simon Kerrigan off Khalil Patel for 6 (9 balls). 39-5. two balls later Khalil Patel had Harry Birkman caught by Dom Jackson for 0 (2 balls), 39-6
Mitch Bolus was the next batsman but became Simon Kerrigan's fourth victim caught by Dom Jackson for 0 (14 balls), 44-8. James Bradley joined Luke Jardine and they battled to rebuild the innings and had doubled to score when Khalil Patel struck trapping Luke Jardine lbw for 23 (68 balls), 92-8
Ryan Birkman was the number ten batsman and was soon out lbw to Hareen Buddila for 4 (13 balls), 99-9, Khalil Patel claimed his fifth wicket and ended James Bradley's fighting innings bowled for 23 (85 balls) as St Annes were 99 all out in 42.1 overs with Keith Reid 0no (1 ball)
Khalil Patel took 5-29 from 12.1 overs, Simon Kerrigan 4-20 off 15, Hareen Buddila 1-13 from 8, Dom Jackson 0-12 off 4 and James Lupton 0-19 from 3
In reply the visitors needed only 18.1 overs to reach their goal 100-0, Matthew Smith 71no (57 balls) (11x4, 2x6) and Ben Parkinson 27no (52 balls).
