The Northern Cricket League Review
It is the 9th round of matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League. Garstang remain top despite having an exciting winning draw against Fulwood and Broughton, there were wins for Chorley, Kendal, Netherfield and Penrith. The Blackpool v Vernon Carus has been rearranged to the 21st August
Chorley v St Annes
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and elected to bat first, They made 169-8 in their 50 overs, Roshen Silva top scored with 43 supported by Alexander Howarth 39, Andrew Holdsworth 29 and Gaurav Dhar 26
The St Annes wicket takers were Harry Birkman 3-24 from 10 overs, Tom Higson 3-29 off 9 and Mitch Bolus 2-63 from 15
In reply St Annes were bowled out for 62 in 26 overs, only three players reached double figures, Alex Bradley 24, Tom Higson 15 and Yohan De Silva 12
Edwin Moulton took 4-25 from 8 overs, Will Moulton 3-16 off 9, Louis Johnson 2-2 from 4 and Sam Steeple 1-13 off 5
Garstang v Fulwood & Broughton
Garstang won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and chose to bat first, Michael Wellings and Allan Cook opened, with the score on 12 Michael Wellings was caught by Dom Jackson off Chris Brookes for 10 (12 balls) 12-1
Mark Walling came in at three but with only ten runs added Allan Cook was bowled by Jon Fenton for 11 (24 balls) 22-2, Punit Bisht was next in and with Walling put on 105 runs when Walling was caught by Simon Kerrigan off Sonal Dinusha for 26 (80 balls) 127-3
Ryan Pearson replaced Walling but fell caught by Muhammad Zaid off Sonal Dinusha for 1 (6 balls) 138-4, Tom Wells joined Bisht and their partnership of 51 was broken when Punit Bisht was caught by Lewis Wellings off Dom Jackson for 116 (90 balls) (18x4 1x6) 178-5
Danny Gilbert came in at seven but on 9 (11 balls) he was bowled by Sonal Dinusha, 199-6, Tom Wells was next out caught and bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 20 (37 balls) 201-7, twelve runs had been added when two wickets fell, Matthew Crowther caught and bowled by Sonal Dinusha for 5 (16 balls) 213-8, Simon Kerrigan had Ian Walling caught by Jon Fenton for 8 (11 balls) 213-9
Ben Woodruff 5no (6 balls) and Rizwan Patel 3no (3 balls) saw the hosts to the close of their innings on 222-9 in 50 overs
Sonal Dinusha took 4-52 in 15 overs with Simon Kerrigan 2-66 off 12, Jon Fenton 1-15 from 6 and Chris Brookes 1-27 off 8
Ewen Mansford and Ben Parkinson began the visitors reply, with the total on 29 Ben Parlnson was caught by Ben Woodruff off Ian Walling for 15 (31 balls) 29-1
Sonal Dinusha joined Mansford but with only 9 runs added Mansford became Walling's second victim caught by Mark Walling for 11 (46 balls). 38-2, Simon Kerrigan was in next and fell caught by Mark Walling off Danny Gilbert for 1 (9 balls) 55-3
Danny Gilbert strruck again two balls later trapping Lewis Wellings lbw for 0, 55-4, Zach Proctor was Dinusha's next partner and they added 111 when Dinusha was bowled by Danny Gilbert for 72 (84 balls) 166-5
Teddy Gipson replaced Dinusha and with Proctor took the score to 206, Danny Gilbert once again made the break through taking the wicket of Zach Proctor caught and bowled for 77 (94 balls), 206-6
Muhammad Zaid came to the wicket with 18 balls remaining and 17 runs required for victory, Danny Gilbert claimed his fifth wicket with the first ball of the last over Muhammad Zaid caught by Mark Walling for 3 (4 balls) 216-7
Five balls remained with seven rquired for victory, two runs were needed off the last ball but only one was scored meaning the scores were level 222-7 in 50 overs with Teddy Gipson 30no (28 balls) and Jon Fenton1no (2 balls)
Danny Gilbert took 5-65 from 14 overs with Ian Walling 2-50 off 14
Kendal v Longridge
Longridge won the toss at Shap Road and chose to bat first, Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin were their opening pair, an opening stand of 28 was broken when Luke Platt was caught behind by Sam Fletcher off Kuldeep Singh 7 (22 balls) 28-1
Tom Howarth came in at three but fell lbw to Rongsen Jonathan for 5 (24 balls) 49-2, Zac Christie joined Mullin and added 46 runs when he was cayght behind by San Fletcher off Matthew Park fopr 24 (49 balls) 95-3
James Whitehead was no 5 but was out for 7 (22 balls) caught by Oliver Yaker off Matthew Park, 127-4, Joshua Mullin was keeping one end going, his next partner was Thomas Turner, Kuldeep Singh returned to the attack and caught and bowled Turner for 16 (20 balls) 149-5
Singh struck again having Rhys Morgan caught by Matthew Park for 3 (9 balls) 160-6, the next batsman William Vause was bowled by Chris Miller for 3 (6 balls) 183-7, Jake Durnell took two runs off the last ball as the visitors closed on 185-7 in their 50 overs
Joshua Mullins had carried his bat and was undefeated on 111 (148 balls)(16x4) with Jake Durnell 2no (1 ball)
The Kendal wicket takers were Kuldeep Singh 3-38 from 13 overs, Matthew Park 2-25 off 7, Rongsen Jonathan 1-31 from 8 and Chris Miller 1-65 off 15
Chris Miller and Harry Lee opened for the hosts and soon lost Miller lbw to William Vause for 3 (8 balls) 5-1. David Batty came in next and with Lee they took the score to 51 when Lee was out lbw to Jonathan Millward for 7 (63 balls)51-2
Jonathan Rongsen replaced Lee and with Batty had a stand of 57 broken when Batty was caught by Joshua Mullin off Rory McDowell for 57 (100 balls) 107-3, Sam Fletcher was no 5 and with Jonathan saw the hosts to victory closing on 188-3 in 46.1 overs, Jonathan was 71no (77 balls) and Fletcher 42no (35 balls)
For Longridge William Vause took 1-23 from 7 overs with Jonathan Millward 1-49 off 15
Lancaster v Netherfield
Lancaster won the toss at Parkside Road and elected to bat first, Faizan Khan and Eddie Steinson opened but lost Khan for 1 (3 balls) caught by Reece irving off Matt Jackson, 1-1
Irfan Khan was next in but with the total on 27 the visitors lost two wickets, Eddie Steinson caught behnd by Finlay Richardson off Louis Backhouse for 4 (11 balls) 27-2, followed by Anthony Chubb lbw to Louis Backhouse for 0 (4 balls) 27-3
Steven Fisher joined Khan and they dug in and took the score to 100 when again two wickets fell, Khan was caught by Bradley Earl off John Mason for 76 (97 balls)100-4, two balls later Luke Phillips was lbw to John Mason for 0 100-5
John Mason struck again with two wickets, firstly Steven Fisher caught by Ben Barrow for 19 (68 balls) 111-6, one run later accounting for David Steinson caught by Reece Irving for 1 (9 balls) 112-7
Ben Simm and Lee Marshall fought to rebuild the innings but on 136 John Mason claimed his fifth wicket Lee Marshall bowled for 13 (48 balls) 136-8, Mason had wicket no 6 Lee Sparks caught by Louis Backhouse for 1 (4 balls) 137-9
The visitors innings came to a close on 140 all out in 48.4 overs with Ben Simm caught by Louis Backhouse off Matt Jackson for 13 (48 balls).
John Mason took 6-21 from 13.4 overs with Louis Backhouse 2-19 off 6 and Matt Jackson 2-24 from 7
Ben Barrow and Josh Dixon opened for the hosts with a stand of 63 when Dixon was caught by Luke Phillips off Irfan Khan for 28 (76 balls) 63-1, that was the last success for the visitors as Ben Barrow 68no (100 balls) and Finlay Richardson 31no (43 balls) saw the hosts home on 142 in 36.5overs

Penrith v Leyland
Leyland won the toss at Tynefield Park and invited the hosts to bat first, Nicky Burns and Ollie Greenwood opened and they both fell to Kurtis Watson, Greenwood was lbw for 5 (29 balls) 8-1, Burns followed bowled for 4 (33 balls) 9-2
The new batsmen Owen Jones and Mohit Kale carefuuly began to rebuild the innings but on 28 Jones was caught by Kurtis Watson of Nasir Nawaz for 10 (38 balls) 28-3, James Bowman replaced Jones and he continued the fight until on 71 he was lbw to Nathan McDonnell for 21 (37 balls) 71-4
Greg Cameron came in at six and with Kale took the score to 95 when Kale was caught by James Rounding off Ben Weaver for 36 (65 balls) 95-5, Jack White was Cameron's next partner but was out for 11 (19 balls) bowled by Kurtis Watson 126-6
Samuel Hall joined Cameron and they kept the scoredboard moving until on 156 Hall was caught by James Rounding off Nasir Nawaz for 26 (25 balls) 156-7, Greg Cameron was next out lbw to Nathan McDonnell for 50 (46 balls) 170-8
James Ellis was out on the last ball of the innings for 9 (6 balls) bowled by Nasir Nawaz as the hosts closed on 184-9 in thier 50 overs with Ben Ellis undefeated on 6 (3 balls)
The Leyland wicket takers were Kurtis Watson 3-37 from 14 overs, Nasir Nawaz 3-44 off 8, Nathan McDonnell 2-38 from 8 and Ben Weaver 1-33 off 6
The Leyland reply was destroyed by Jack White removing the top order with only 19 on the board, he had Nasir Nawaz caught behind by Ben Ellis for 5 (12 balls) 12-1, he then bowled Jacob Wright for 8 (12 balls) 13-2, he bowled Kurtis Watson for 0 (10 balls), 18-3
James Ellis had Karl Cross caught by Jack White for 1 (4 balls) 19-4, Jack White took his fourth wicket James Rounding lbw for 4 (9 balls) 19-5,
Andrew Makinson and Nathan McDonnell had a mountain to climb but set about their task and thier partnership was broken on 84 with Makinson lbw to Greg Cameron for 34 (47 balls) 103-6
Ben Weaver came to the crease but fell lbw to Greg Cameron for 1 (9 balls) 108-7, Michael Pallett replaced Weaver but was soon out caught behind by Ben Ellis off Greg Cameron for 1 (16 balls) 116-8
Nathan McDonnell's fighting innings came to an end bowled by Greg Cameron for 60 (51 balls) 123-9, Greg Cameron took his fifth wicket and claimed victory for the hosts trapping Will Smith lbw for 5 (13 balls) as Leyland were all out for 128 in 31.3 overs
Greg Cameron took 5-33 from 8.3 overs, Jack White 4-42 off 10 and James Ellis 1-22 from 7
