The Northern Cricket League Review

It is the 6th round of matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League. There were wins for Blackpool, Chorley, Fulwood & Broughton, Garstang, Longridge and St Annes

Blackpool v Penrith

Penrith won the toss at Stanley Park and elected to bat first, they made 171-6 in their 50 overs, Mohit Kale top scored with 73 (91 balls) supported by Jack White 33 ( 63 balls) and Alister Craig 23 (73 balls)

The wicket takers for Blackpool were Joshua Boyne 3-38 from 12 overs, Matthew Grindley 1-24 off 15 and Alex Ryder 1-27 from 7

In reply Blackpool knocked off the runs in 43.2 overs closing on 175-3, Joshua Boyne 99no (131 balls) (14x4) lead the way with Kasim Munir making 62 (109 balls)

For Penrith Jack White took 2-23 from 10 overs and Mohit Kale 1-52 off12

Chorley v Lancaster

Lancaster won the toss at Windsor Park and invited the hosts to bat first, They were bowled out in 40.5 overs for 157 thanks to Alfie Dobson 52 and Roshen Silva 39 with a late flourish from Keiran McCullagh 25no

Liam Moffat had the remarkable figures of 7-20 from 15 overs with Ifan Khan 2-48 off 14 and Kieran Moffat 1-41 fro 10.5

In reply the visitors were always struggling and were bowled out for 95 in 31.3 overs. No 8 David Steinson top scored with 23 with only Steven Fisher 14 and Irfan Khan 12 the other batsmen to reach double figures

The wickets were shared amongst five Chorley bowlers, Will Moulton 2-9 from 10 overs, Edwin Moulton 2-13 off 7, Ian Oakes 2-13 from 1.3, Sam Steeple 2-29 off 6 and Louis Johnson 1-15 from 3

Garstang v Kendal

Garstang won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and put the visitors into bat first, Chris Miller and Max Winskill opened but with the score on 9 Winskill was run out by Ryan Pearson for 2 (17 balls) 9-1

Two runs had been added when Chris Miller was caught by Punit Bisht off Rizwan Patel for 3 (30 balls) 11-2, Paul Dodds joined Rongsen Jonathan and they began to rebuild the innings until Jonathan was out lbw to Rizwan Patel for 19 (44 balls) 39-3

Sam Flecher replaced Jonathan but was soon out lbw to Danny Gilbert for 2 (6 balls) 42-4. without any addition to the score Paul Dodds was bowled by Rizwan Patel for 8 (40 balls) 42-5.

Harry Lee came in at 6 but was out caught behind by Matthew Crowher off Danny Gilbert for 0 (14 balls) 44-6. Oliver Yarker and Kuldeep Singh tried to stem the flow but they both fell with the total on 49

Kuldeep Singh was the first to go bowled by Ian Walling for 1 (20 balls) 49-7, followed by Yarker bowled by Ben Woodruff for 3 (34 balls) 49-8. Matthew Park and Matthew Yarker did their best to keep the scoreboard moving but on 72 Yarker was out lbw to Punit Bisht for 3 (27 balls) 72-9

The innings closed two runs later on 74 in 46.3 overs when Punit Bisht bowled Doug Yaker for 1 (4 balls) with Matthew Park undefeated on 15 (44 balls).

Taking the wickets for the hosts were Rizwan Patel 3-11 from 13 overs, Punit Bisht 2-6 off 3.3, Danny Gilbert 2-18 from 10 and Ian Walling 1-16 off 13

Michael Wellings and Michael Walling opened and took the score to 22 when Wellings was caught by Max Winskill off Kuldeep Singh for 11 (14 balls) 22-1. Punit Bisht joined Walling but on 9 (15 balls) he was bowled by Kuldeep Singh. 38-2

The only other success for the visitors was Kuldeep Singh bowling Mark Walling for 2 (1 ball). Michael Walling 30no and Ryan Pearson 15no saw the hosts home closing on 80-3 in 14.3 overs

Kuldeep Singh took 3-22 from 6 overs

Leyland v St Annes

Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and elected to bat first, Nasir Nawaz and Jacob Wright opened but were parted with the toal on 17, Nawaz was caught by Mitch Bolus off Lukman Vahaluwala for 2 (15 balls) 17-1.

James Rounding was in at 3 but fell caught by Nathan Bend off Lukman Vahaluwala for 3 (10 balls), 32-2. Kurtis Wason joined Wright and they had taken their partnership to 95 when Wright was caught behind by James Bradley off Harry Birkman for 74 (112 balls) 127-3

Karl Cross replaced Wright and with Watson took the score to 196 when Watson became Vahaluwala's third victim bowled for 67 (115 balls), 196-4, Andrew Makinson was in next but lost Cross caught by Luke Jardine off Tom Higson for 41 (38 balls) 204-5.

Iain Critchley was at 7 but was run out fot 0, 205-6. Ben Weaver 2no (2 balls) took over from Critchley and with Andrew Makinson 6no (10 balls) saw the host's innings to close on 211-6 in their 50 overs.

Lukman Vahaluwala took 3-43 from 13 overs, Harry Birkman 1-32 off 5.3 and Tom Higson 1-39 from 11

Tom Higson and Luke Jardine opened for the visitors with a score of 28 when Jardine was caught by Karl Cross off Kurtis Watson for 11 (19 balls) 28-1, Yohan De Silva came in at three and with Higson kept the scorebaord ticking over but on 67 Higson was bowled by Iain Critchley for 25 (37 balls) 67-2

Lukman Vahauwala joined De Silva and their partnership was 85 when De Silva was caught and bowled by Kurtis Watson for 55 (69 balls) 152-3, Nathan Bolus replaced De Silva but was soon run out by Nasir Nawaz for 9 (10 balls) 165-4

Vahaluwala's next partner was Nathan Bend, Bend was out for 26 (18 balls) in their partnership of 32, 197-5. that was the last success for the home team as Vahaluwala 73no (110 balls) and Alex Bradley 9no (11 balls) saw the visitors home on 212-5 in 45.4 overs

Kurtis Watson took 3-68 from 12.4 overs and Iain Critchley 1-40 off 11

Netherfield v Fulwood & Broughton

Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and invited the visitors to bat first, Matthew Rosbottom and Matthew Smith opened and gave the visitors a good start reaching 37 when Rosbottom was caught behind by Finlay Richardson for 16 (28 balls), 37-1

Mike Sambell was in at three and with Smith took the score to 96 when Smith was caught by Astutosh Singh off Daniel Bernet for 59 (80 balls) 96-2, Sonal Dinusha replaced Smith but lost Sambell caught by Matt Jackson of Ashutosh Singh for 22 (54 balls) 102-3

Simon Kerrigan was in next but with only two runs added Dinusha was caught by Josh Dixon off Daniel Bernet for 6 (7 balls) 104-4. Kerrigan followed caught by John Mason off Ashutosh Singh for 5 (10 balls) 111-5

Ben Parkinson and Zach Proctor tried to steady the ship but on123 Parkinson became Bernet's third victim bowled for 9 (29 balls) 123-6. Jon Fenton replaced Parkinson but with only eleven runs added Proctor was lbw to Samuel Medhurst for 14 (44 balls) 134-7

Muhammed Zaid was in next hitting 23 (13 balls) (including 3x6) falling caught behind by Finlay Richardson off Samuel Medhurst, 165-8, Jon Fenton's new partner was Dom Jackson but was soon out lbw to Matt Jackson for 0 (2 balls) 168-9

Jon Fenton 16no (32 balls) and last man Chris Brookes 2no (2 balls) saw the vistors to the close of their innings on 175-9 in their 50 overs

The home team wicket takers were Daniel Bermet 3-32 from 12 overs, Samuel Medhurst 3-34 off 10, Ashutosh Singh 2-49 from 14 and Matt Jackson 1-27 off 9

Ben Barrow and Josh Dixon opened for the hosts and had put on 27 when Barrow was caught by Sonal Dinusha off Simon Kerrigan for 12 (35 balls). Dixon followed one run later caught by Dom Jackson off Sonal Dinusha for 12 (33 balls) 28-2

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts losing two more quick wickets, Reece Irving lbw to Simon Kerrigan for 2 (6 balls) 30-3, Finlay Richardson followed caught by Mike Smith off Sonal Dinusha for 4 (3 balls) 35-4

Ashutosh Singh and Bradley Earl were left to pick up the pieces, they had put on 54 runs when Earl was caught by Simon Kerrigan off Dom Jackson for 21 (37 balls) 89-5. new batsman Daniel Bernet lasted 12 balls lbw to Dom Jackson for 5, 97-6

John Mason was AShutosh Singh's next partner and they worked hard to save the game but Dom Jackson had Mason stumped by Mike Sambell for 13 (32 balls) 116-7.Samuel Medhurst replaced Mason and fell caught and bowled by Sonal Dinusha for 1 (8 balls) 119-8

Dom jackson accounted for Louis Backhouse bowled for 1 (4 balls)120-9. Last man out was Ashutosh Singh caught by Jon Fenton off Sonal Dinusha for 48 (84 balls) as the home team were bowled out for 124 in 42.5 overs with Matt Jackson 0no (4 balls)

The visitors wicket takers were Dom Jackson 4-29 from 9 overs, Sonal Dinusha 4-37 off 13.5 and Simon Kerrigan 2-30 from 11

Vernon Carus v Longridge

Longridge won the toss at the Vernon Carus Sports & Social club and chose to bat first, Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin opened for the visitors against tight bowling from the home side and had reached 22 when Platt was caught by Christian Ash off Max Livesey for 6 (33 balls)

Connor Rutland repaced Platt and took control of the match, the partnership with Joshua Mullin was 151 when Mullin was caught behind by Bob Bridges off Matthew Timms for 71 (127 balls) 173-2, Zac Christie came in at four but was quickly out caught behind by Bob Bridges off Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage for 0 (4 balls) 176-3

James Whitehead was Rutland's next partner and they took the visitors to 275-3 at the close of their innings with Connor Rutland undefeated on 164 (114 balls)(9x4 13x6)and James Whitehead undefeated on 19 (25 balls)

Max Livesey took 1-31 from 6 overs, Matthew Timms 1-75 off 15 and Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage 1-88 from 15

Wes Royle and Alan Maguire opened facing the daunting task of chasing the big score but with only seven on the board the hosts lost two wickets, firstly Maguire was bowled by William Vause for 5 (19 balls) 7-1, next ball Vause had Jamie Rigby caught behind by Thomas Turner for 0, 7-2

Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage and Thomas Bailey were the new batsmen but on 16 Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage fell lbw to Jonathan Millward for 5 (12 balls) 16-3, Jack Airey came in next but lost Thomas Bailey caught behind by Thomas Turner off William Vause for 5 (8 balls) 35-4

Wes Royle was battling away and with Airey added 32 runs when Airey was caught by Luke Platt off Caleb Bradford for 5 (18 balls) 67-5, Christian Ash replaced Airey but after only two balls retired hurt.

Bob Bridges came in next but lost Royle caught behind by Thomas Turner off Jake Durnell for 45 (62 balls) 69-6, new batsman Jacob Holland and Bridges kept the scoreboard ticking over but on 90 Holland was stumped by Thomas Turner off Caleb Bradford for 13 (20 balls) 90-7

Matthew Timms came in at 10 but was run out by Luke Platt for 4 (7 balls) 96-8, the end came when Max Livesey was caught by James Whitehead off Caleb Bradford for 1 (9 balls). with Christian Ash unable to return the hosts were all out for 103 in 29.3 overs

The Longridge wicket takers were William Vause 3-5 from 6 overs, Caleb Bradford 3-20 off 8.3, Jake Durnell 1-19 from 6 and Jonathan Millward 1-39 off 7
