The Northern Cricket League Review

It is the 4th round of matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League and wih have new leaders, Longridge go top with their win over Leyland

There were also wins for Blacxkpool, Kendal and Netherfield.

Garstang had a winning draw over Chorley and Fulwood & Broughton the same over St Annes

Fulwood & Broughton v St Annes

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at the Highfield gound and elected to bat, Matthew Rosbottom and Ben Parkinson opened with a stand of 14, Parkinson was caught by Tom Higson off Lukman Vahaluwala for 3 (24 balls) 14-1

Mike Sambell came in at three and with Rosbottom added 58 runs before Sambell was bowled by Mitch Bolus for 31 (33 balls), 72-2. Sonal Dinusha joined Rosbottom and they had a stand of 73 when Rosbottom was caught by Nathan Bolus off Tom Bradley for 56 (123 balls) 145-3

Tom Bradley struck two balls later bowling Lewis Wellings for 0, 145-4, Zach Proctor was Dinusha's next partner and they kept the scorebaord ticking over, with 56 runs added Dinusha was caught by Tom Higson off Nathan Bolus for 58 (62 balls) 201-5

Muhammed Zaid was next in but was trapped lbw by Lukman Vahaluwala for 2 (2 balls) 214-6. Zach Proctor 54no (47 balls) and Jon Fenton 4no (8 balls) saw the hosts to the close of their innings on 229-6 from 50 overs

For St Annes Lukman Vahaluwala took 2-32 from 11 overs, Tom Bradley 2-38 off 9, Nathan Bolus 1-41 from 8 and Mitch Bolus 1-43 off 7

Tom Higson and Luke Jardine got the visitors off to a good start but with 34 on the board Higson was bowled by Jon Fenton for 20 (24 balls) 34-1. Yohan De Silva was in at three and with Jardine put on 23 runs when Jardine was bowled by Chris Brookes for 16 (45 balls) 57-2

Nathan Bolus was next but was trapped lbw by Sonal Dinusha for 0 (12 balls) 62-3. Andy Drake replaced Bolus and battled away with De Silva, the total was 95 when Drake was stumped by Mike Sambell off Dom Jackson for 10 (46 balls), 95-4.

Sonal Dinusha struck a double blow for the hosts having Yohan De Silva caught by Ben Parkinson for 39 (75 balls), 97-5. then he had Lukman Vahauwala caught by Muhammed Zaid for 3 (6 balls) 107-6

Nathan Bend was joined by Tom Bradley but with only twelve runs added Bend was run out for 11 (6 balls) 119-7, James Bradley joined Tom Bradley and the hero's of last weekend had to do a repeat performance, Their partnership took the visitors to within thee overs to save the game when James Bradley was caught by Lewis Wellings off Sonal Dinusha for 23 (36 balls) 166-8

Tom Bradley 37no (44 balls) and Mitch Bolus 0no (6 balls) saw the visitors to the close on 170-8 in their 50 overs

The Fulwood & Broughton wicket takers were Sonal Dinusha 4-47 from 15 overs, Jon Fenton 1-21 off 7, Chris Brookes 1-27 from 13 and Dom Jackson 1-36 off 10

Garstang v Chorley

League leaders Chorley won the toss at the Riverside Sports gound and invited the hosts to bat first, Garstang made 219-7 in their 50 overs thanks to Tom Wells 52, Michael Walling 48 with Danny GIlbert 39

For Chorley Gaurav Dhar took 2-27 from 8 overs, Sam Steeple 2-30 off 11, James Lee 1-15 from 4, Will Moulton 1-17 off 8 and Edwin Moulton 1-48 from 11

In reply Chorley struggled to 159-9 in their 50 overs due to Harry Barclay 69no and Andrew Holdsworth 29

The Garstang wicket takers were Ian Walling 3-43 from 15 overs, Punit Bisht 2-10 off Danny Gilbert 2-37 from 11 and Michael Walling 1-22 off 9

Kendal v Penrith

Penrith won the toss at Shap Road and put the hosts into bat, Openers Darren Nightingale and Joseph Dodds reached 28 when Nightingale was caught by James Bowman off Dylan Simpson for 17 (17 balls) 28-1.

Chris Miller came in at three but quickly lost Dodds lbw to James Ellis for 3 (36 balls) 30-2. Rongseng Jonathan replaced Dodds and with Miller added 27 runs when Miller was caught by James Bowman off Bruce Glendinning for 8 (33 balls) 57-3

Oliver Tyson joined Jonathan and they took the score to 101 with Tyson on 16 (42 balls) he was caught behind by Alister Craig off Bruce Glendinning 101-4, Oliver Killner was next in but fell for 6 (13 balls) caught by Finlay Hansford off Greg Cameron, 112-5

Sam Fletcher was Jonathan's next partner and they kept the scoreboard ticking over nicely until with their partnership at 43 Fletcher was lbw to James Ellis for 20 (28 balls) 155-6, Harry Lee was run out for 0 (2 balls) 155-7

Rongsen Jonathan was quickly progressing to his century, which he reached with Paul Dodds as his partner, Dodds fell caught James Ellis off James Bowman for 13 (230 balls) 209-8.

The Kendal innings came to a close on 221-8 in their 50 overs with Rongsen Jonathan 118no (6x4 7x6) and Kuldeep Singh 1no (1 ball)

For Penrith Bruce Glendinning took 2-46 from 15 overs, James Ellis 2-56 off 10, Dylan Simpson 1-17 from 4, James Bowman 1-35 off 6 and Greg Cameron 1-56 from 15

The visitors reply got off to a disastrous start losing Alister Craig bowled by Kuldeep Singh for 0 (3 balls) 1-1, then no3 Ollie Greenwood lbw to Harry Lee for 2 (10 balls) 8-2, and finally Nicky Burns run out by Darren Nightingale for 2 (1 0 balls) 10-3.

James Bowman and Samuel Hall had the task of rebuilding the innings, they had taken the score to 32 when Hall was bowled by Chris Miller for 14 (17 balls) 32-4, Greg Cameron replaced Hall but on 16 (20 balls) he was bowled by Matthew Park 51-5.

Matthew Park struck two balls later having Finlay Hansford caught by Sam Fletcher for 0, 51-6, James Bowman's fighting innings came to an end caught by Kuldeep Singh off Chris Miller for 21 (60 balls) 64-7

Chris Miller trapped Dylan Simpson lbw for 2 (25 balls), 65-8, James Ellis and Bruce Glendinning dug in but Miller bowled Ellis for 8 (35 balls) 74-9. Richard Ellwood joined Gledinning and they took the score to 88 when Ellwood was caughtr by Oliver Killiner off Matthew Park for 0 (5 balls) resulting in Penrith all out for 88 in 35.3 overs with Glendinning 9no (29 balls).

The Kendal wicket takers were Chris Miller 4-37 from 14 overs, Matthew Park 3-16 off 11.3, Kuldeep Singh 1-9 from 4 and Harry Lee 1-22 off 6

Lancaster v Blackpool

Lancaster won the toss at Lune Road and invited the visitors to bat first, Blackpool were 168 all out in 49.5 overs, Joshua Boyne top scored with 55 supported by Arran Lewin 26 and Ben Howarth 23

For Lancaster Liam Moffat took 4-39 from 15 Ben Simm 4-40 off 14 and Irfan Khan 2-32 from 7.5

In reply Lancaster were bowled out for 72 in 19 overs with Irfan Qayyum 16 and David Steinson 10 the only players to reach bouble figures.

Richard Gleeson did the damage with 6-32 from 9 overs with Matthew Grindley 4-23 off 10

Longridge v Leyland

Leyland won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and elected to bat first, Jacob Wright and James Rounding opened and had made 26 when Rounding was bowled by Connor Rutland for 13 (19 balls) 26-1.

Kurtis Watson came in at three but on 7 (19 balls) he was trapped lbw by Connor Rutland, 38-2. Nasir Nawaz replaced Watson and was on 14 (18 balls) when he was bowled by Caleb Bradford for 14 (18 balls 69-3

Karl Cross joined Wright and they had a partnership of 66 which was broken by Cross being trapped lbw by Caleb Bradford for 28 (48 balls) 135-4, Andrew Makinson was Wright's next partner and their stand was 38 when Makinson was stumped by Thomas Turner off Caleb Bradford for 17 (30 balls) 173-5

Jacob Wright's battling innings came to a close becoming Caleb Bradford's third victim caught by Connor Rutlland for 95 (137 balls), 182-6. Ian Farrington was next to fall caught by Zac Christie off William Vause for 7 (10 balls), 198-7

Connor Rutland returned to the attack taking two wickets, firstly bowling Ben Weaver for 13 (16 balls), 201-8, next ball trapping Iain Critchley lbw for 0 201-9. Michael Pallet 0no (12 balls) and Joe Shackleton 3no (1 ball) saw Leyland close on 204-9 in their 50 overs.

For Longridge Connor Rutland took 4-26 from 7 overs, Caleb Bradford 4-66 off 15 and William Vause 1-51 from 10

Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin opened in reply and gave the home side a brilliant start with a stand of 96, Platt out lbw for 43 (64 balls) 96-1. Connor Rutland joined Mullin and they had a partnership of 84 when Mullin was bowled by Kurtis Watson for 74 (114 balls) 180-2

Zac Christie joined Rutland and they saw the hosts home closing on 205-2 in 43.5 overs with Connor Rutland 54no (64 balls) and Zac Chistie 17no (21 balls)

Ben Weaver trook 1-26 from 7 overs and Kurtis Watson 1-41 off 10

Netherfield v Vernon Carus

Netherfield won he toss at Parkside Road and invited the visitors to bat first, Matthew Stevenson and Wes Royle opened but Stevenson was soon out bowled by John Mason for 5 (13 balls) 5-1

Jamie Rigby came in at three but lost Royle lbw to John Mason for 11 (29 balls) 18-2, Jack Airey joined Rigby but with only six runs added Rigby was bowled by Matt jackson for 7 (32 balls) 26-3

Christian Ash was in next but was caught by Ben Barrow off Ashutosh Singh for 2 (23 balls)36-4, Incoming batsman Bob Bridges and Airey dug in and started to see progress with a stand of 32 when Airey was caught by Ben Barrow off Daniel Bernet for 35 (83 balls) 68-5

Jacob Holland replaced Airey but lost Bridges caught by John Mason off Daniel Bernetr for 12 (47 balls) 75-6,

Daniel Bernet then cleaned up the rest of the tail, David Sullivan caught Ashutosh Singh for 6 (13 balls) 83-7, next Jacob Holland caught and bowled for 5 (17 balls) 83-8, Matthew Timms became victim number five caught by Ashutosh Singh for 7 (11 balls) 92-9

Max Livesey was bowled by Bernet for 0 (2 balls) resulting in the visitors being all out for 93 in 46 overs with Ben Thomas 1no (6 balls)

Daniel Bernet took 6-21 from 9 overs, John Mason 2-21 off 14, Matt Jackson 1-15 from 9 and Ashutosh Singh 1-343 off 14

Ben Barrow and Josh Dixon opeded for the hosts but were separated with the score on 10, Barrow caught by Jack Airey off Jacob Holland for 6 (8 balls) 10-1

Josh Dixon soon followed caught behind by Bob Bridges off Matthew Timms for 12 (18 balls) 20-2. Lee Hogg and Ashutosh Singh dug in but with only nineteen runs added Hogg was caught by Jacob Holland off Matthew Timms for 7 (27 balls) 39-3

Finlay Richardson joined Singh and they were cruising to victory when they were both out with the score on 92, Richardson was bowled by Max Livesey for 23 (41 balls) 92-4, next Singh was caught by Wes Royle off David Sullivan for 39 (45 balls) 92-5

John Mason was out next stumped by Bob Bridges off David Sullivam for 0 (4 balls)93-6. Bradley Earl 4no (3 balls) and Daniel Bernet 0no (1 ball) saw the hosts home on 97-6 in 24.3 overs

The Vernon Carus wicket takers were David Sullivan 2-15 from 4 overs, Matthew Timms 2-32 off 8, Max Livesey 1-21 from 4.3 and Jacob Holland 1-25 off 8
