On the 2nd round of matches for the Norther Premier Cricket League there were wins for Chorley, Garstang, Leyland, Longridge and St Annes with the Netherfied v Blackpool game abandoned
Fulwood & Broughton v Chorley
Chorley won the toss at the Highfield ground and chose to bat first. Andrew Holdsworth and Amman Sarguru opened and they took the score to 29 when Sarguru was bowled by Chris Brookes for 3 (27 balls) 29-1
Harry Barclay was in at 3 and struggled, he was out for 2 (36 balls) stumped by Mike Sambell off Simon Kerrigan, 38-2. Kerrigan struck again next ball trapping Roshan Silva lbw for 0 (1 ball), 38-3
It was a disaster for the visitors when Andrew Holdsworth 29 (68 balls) was run out by Matthew Rosbottom 41-4. Alfie Dobson was the next to go caught by Jon Fenton off Zach Proctor for 6 (27 balls) 53-5
Edwin Moulton and Joseph Tiffin fought to keep the scoreboard ticking over and had added 36 runs when Tiffin was caught and bowled by Sonal Dinusha for 13 (17 balls) 89-6
Will Moulton was in next and had made 13 (16 balls) when he was run out by Sonal Dinusha, 107-7. Keiran McCullagh was the next wicket to fall lbw to Simon Kerrigan for 3 (17 balls) 115-8
Jon Fenton finnished off the visitors innings trapping Edwin Moulton lbw for 30 (74 balls) 125-9. Ian Oakes was bowled first ball for 0 so Chorley were 125 all out in 49.2 overs
The Fulwood & brought bowlers shared the wickets Simon Kerrigan 3-28 from 15 overs, Jon Fenton 2-33 off 8.2, Chris Brookes 1-1 from 6, Zach Proctor 1-11 off 3 and Sonal Dinusha 1-24 from 15
Matthew Rosbottom and Ben Parkinson opened for the hosts, there was 7 runs on the board when Ben Parkinson was caught behind by Harry Barclay off Edwin Moulton for 1 (4 balls) 7-1
Sonal Dinusha came in at 3 and with Rosbottom took the score to 42, Dinusha was trapped lbw by Keiran McCullagh for 29 (38 balls), 42-2. Matthew Smith was in next but was soon out caught behind by Harry Barclay off Keiran McCullagh for 8 (8 balls) 51-3
Simon Kerrigan replaced Smith but fell lbw to Will Moulton for 8 (30 balls), 66-4, Matthew Rosbottom had been battling away but was out caught behind by Harry Barclay off Keiran McCullagh for 18 (79 balls) 66-5
Mike Sambell and Mark Smith tried to stop the rot and 16 runs had been added when Smith became Keeper Harry Baeclay's fourth victim caught off Ian Oakes for 8 (15 balls) 82-6, it soon became 84-7 with Mike Sambell lbw to Will Moulton for 5 (22 balls)
Ian Oakes took his second wicket that of Zach Proctor caught by Edwin Moulton for 7 (15 balls) 92-8, Will Moulton took the remaining two wickets having James Lupton lbw for 4 (8 balls) 96-9 and then bowling Jon Fenton for 2 (20 balls) closing the hosts innings on 99 in 40.4 overs. Chris Brookes was 0no (5 balls)
The Chorley wicket takers were Will Moulton 4-18 from 12.4 overs, Keiran McCullagh 3-21 off 8, Ian Oakes 2-9 from 3 and Edwin Moulton 1-16 off 10
Leyland v Lancaster
Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and elected to bat first, Jacob Wright and James Rounding opened but with only 14 on the board Jacob Wright was trapped lbw by Liam Moffat for 5 (8 balls) 14-1
Kurtis Watson replaced Wright and with the total on 60 Watson was caught behind by Lee Sparks off Liam Moffat for 31 (30 balls) 60-2. Nasir Nawaz came in at 4 and with Rounding put on 77 runs when Rounding was run out by Liam Moffat for 58 (72 balls) 137-3
Nathan McDonnell joined Nawaz but lost his partner caught behind by Lee Sparks off David Steinson for 44 (52 balls) 141-4. Andrew Makinson was next in and with McDonnell had a partnership of 77 runs when McDonnell became David Steinson's second victim caught by Irfan Qayyum for 38 (46 balls) 199-5
Karl Cross came in at 7 but when he had made 8 (20 balls) he was caught behind by Lee Sparks off Ben Simm, 229-6. Four runs had been added when Iain Critchley was caught by Kieran Moffat off Irfan Qayyum for 6 (6 balls) 233-7
Ben Weaver was run out by Liam Moffat for 0 (1 ball) 234-8. Liam Moffat had James Critchley caught behind for 0 (3 balls) 235-9. Andrew Makinson 54no (62 balls) and Michael Birchall 0no (0) saw the hosts to the close finnishing on 246-9 in their 50 0vers
The Lancaster wicket takers were Liam Moffat 3-52 from 11 overs, David Steinson 2-78 off 12, Irfan Qayyum 1-46 from 9 and Ben Simm 1-48 off 15.
Lancaster did not get off to a good start losing Steven Fisher lbw to Kurtis Watson for 0 (9 balls) 3-1. Jamie Heywood soon followed also lbw to Karl Cross for 2 (11 balls) 14-2
Irfan Qayyum and Eddie Steinson began the fight back moving the score onto 41 when Qayyum was bowled by Kurtis Watson for 29 (21 balls) 41-3. David Steinson joined Eddie and they doubled the score when Eddie Steinson was caught by Ian Critchley off Ben Weaver for 36 (42 balls) 84-4 Kieran Moffat was bowled by Ben Weaver for 0 (2 balls) 84-5
The collapse continued for the visitors with the loss of two more quick wickets, firstly David Steinson was stumped by Jacob Wright off Michael Birchall for 17 (30 balls) 88-6, Rik Ghosh followed without any addition to the score bowled by Michael Birchall for 0 (1 ball) 88-7
Drupad Parmar and Ben Simm dug in the try and save the match but when their partnership had reached 27 Simm was caught by Karl Cross off Kurtis Watson for 18 (28 balls) 115-8. Liam Moffat continued the fight but lost partner Parmar bowled by Kurtis Watson for 17 (43 balls) 148-9
Kurtis Watson finnished off the visitors innings taking his fifth wicket bowling Liam Moffat for 26 (22 balls) with Lee Sparks 0no (4 balls) Lancaster were bowled out for 149 in 35.1 overs
Kurtis Watson's figures were 5-45 from 10.1 overs supported by Michael Birchall 2-17 off 6, Ben Weaver 2-24 from 5 and Karl Cross 1-33 off 8
Longridge v Penrith
Penrith won the toss at the Newsham Memorial ground and invited the hosts to bat first, Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin opened but Mullin was soon out caught by Greg Cameron off Jack White for 4 (2 balls) 5-1
Connor Rutland joined Platt but quickley deoarted caught and bowled by Greg Cameron for 8 (9 balls) 14-2. Zac Christie was Platt's next partner and they added 49 runs when Platt was lbw to Bruce Glendinning for 9 (49 balls) 53-3
James Whitehead replaced Platt and with Christie were going along nicely until the introduction of James Bowman into the attack. In his second over he had Christie caught by Jack White for 76 (95 balls) 129-4
Bowman then trapped Thomas Turner lbw first ball for 0 129-5. Jake Durnell and Whitehead continued to keep the score moving along until Bowman struck again having Durnell caught and bowled for 10 (16 balls) 148-6
Bowman took two quick wickets bowling Rhys Morgan for 5 (6 balls) 155-7, and then James Whitehead for 30 (66 balls) 159-8. William Vause and Jonathan Millward settled in to see the hosts to the close of their innings but their partnership of 34 runs was broken with Bruce Glendinning bowling William Vause for 20 (34 balls) 193-9.
No 11 Matt Greenall was run out on the last ball by Greg Cameron for 9 (6 balls) leaving Jonathan Millward undefeated on 18 (21 balls) as Longridge were 206 all out in 50 overs
James Bowman took 5-20 from 7 overs, Bruce Glendinning 2-47 off 10, Jack White 1-20 from 8 and Greg Cameron 1-55 off 15
In reply Penrith were bowled out for 187 in 47.5 overs with Greg Cameron top scoring with 48. He was supported by Alister Craig 35, Jack White 33 and Owen Jones 22.
Jake Durnell was the man who did the damage taking 6-56 from 14.5 overs with Jonathan Millward 2-33 off 15 and William Vause 2-36 from8
Netherfield v Blackpool
Netherfield won the toss at Parkside Road and elected to bat first, Ben Barrow and Josh Dixon opened and made steady progress but on 34 both openers were out, Dixon was caugh by Tomas King off Richard Gleeson for 17 (27 ballS) 34-1, then Barrow was caught by Stuart Ashford off Matthew Grindley for 16 (28 balls) 34-2
Matthew Grindley took three more wickts Finlay Richardson caught by Richard Gleeson fpr 0 (6 balls) 34-3, then Ashutosh Singh also caught by Gleeson for 2 (14 balls) 37-4, then John Mason lbw for 0 (6 balls) 38-5.
Netherifeld were in trouble and Bradley Earl and Daniel Bernet began the fight back with a partnership of 66 when Earl was caught behind by Ben Howarth off Jamie Thomson for 38 (54 balls) 104-6
Lee Hogg was in next and continued the fight but fell for 9 (34 balls) caught by Dylan Henshall off Arran Lewin 127-7. Lewin claimed his second victin Samuel Medhurst caught Kasim Munir for 6 (15 balls) 146-8
Daniel Bernet's fighting innings came to an end when he was caught by Jamie Thomson off Arran Lewin for 63 (99 balls) 159-9. Richard Gleeson bowled Matt Jackson for 0 (1 ball) as the hosts were bowled out for 159 in 48.1 overs
The Blackpool wicket takers were Matthew Grindley 4-40 from 11 overs, Arran Lewin 3-45 off 13, Richard Gleeson 1-28 from 9.1 and Jamie Thomson 1-40 off 15
The match was then abandoned due to the weather
St Annes v Kendal
Kendal won the toss at Vernon Road and invited the hosts to bat first, Openers Tom Higson and Luke Jardine gave St Annes a good start when Higson was out lbw to Chris Miller for 26 (30 balls) 51-1
Yohan De Silva replaced Higson and with sixteen runs added Jardine was run out by Rongsen Jonathan for 30 (52 balls) 67-2. Matthew Park was introduced into the attack and bowled very tightly resulting in De Silva 10 (33 balls) driving the ball straght back at Park who took a good catch. 74-3
Lukman Vahaluwala joined Nathan Bolus but was bowled by Matthew Park for 0 (4 balls) 74-4 Alex Bradley was Bolus's next partner and they took the score to 91 when Park claimed his third victim Bolus caught by Chris Miller for 15 (30 balls) 91-5
Andy Drake was next in and with Bradley slowly began to build the total upto 117 when Bradley was caught behind by Sam Fletcher off Rongsen Jonathan for 20 (47 balls) 117-5
Kendal had been bowling very tightly and restricting the home batsmen but the incoming batsman Nathan Bend had other ideas and set about the Kendal bowling assisted by Andy Drake they saw the hosts reach 207-6 in their 50 overs
Nathan Bend was undefeated on 63 (44 balls)(which included 7x4 and 3x6) with Andy Drake undefeated on 37 (60 balls)
For Kendal Matthew Park took 3-36 from 15 overs, Chris Miller 1-46 off 8 and Rongsen Jonathan 1-50 from 15
The Kendal reply started badly losing Darren Nightingale bowled by Mitch Bolus for 0 (2 balls) 3-1. then with the score on 13 two more wickets fell, Harry Lee caught by Andy Drake off Mitch Bolus for 4 (8 balls) 13-3 then Max Winskill was run out by Tom Bradley for 5 (8 balls) 13-3
Rongsen Jonathan and Tom Aspinwall dug in and began the fight back but with the score on 66 Aspinwall was bowled by Tom Bradley for 14 (28 balls) 66-4, Oliver Tyson continued the fight but on 12 (27 balls) he was caught behind by James Bradley off Tom Bradley. 85-5
Tom Bradley then took the prize wicket of Rongsen Jonathan caught by Yohan De Silva for 43 (54 balls) 90-6. Tom Higson took two quick wickets to push the visitors closer to defeat, firstly trapping Sam Fletcher lbw for 3 (5 balls) 93-7 then having Chris Miller caught behind by James Bradley for 5 (8 balls) 94-8
Joseph Dodds and Kuldeep Singh did their best to try and save the game until Dodds was bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala for 2 (25 balls) 106-9. Tom Higson closed the innings on 109 all out in 30.5 when he bowled Matthew Park for 1 (8 balls), Kuldeep Singh was undefeated on 7 (18 balls)
The wickets were shared by the St Annes bowlers Tom Higson took 3-22 from 10.5 overs, Tom Bradley 3-22 off 8.1, Mitach Bolus 2-38 from 5 and Lukman Vahaluwala 1-21 off 7
Vernon Carus v Garstang
Garstang won the toss at Factory Road for the first Northern Premier League game for Vernon Carus and invited the hosts to bat first. Yasin Patel and Wes Royle opened and took the score to 21 when Patel was caught by Michael Walling off Rizwan Patel for 16 (32 balls) 23-1
Only six runs had been added when Rizwan Patel took two wickets, firstly James Rigby caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 1 (11 balls) 29-2, then Adam Parker trapped lbw first ball for 0. 29-3
Things did not improve for the hosts when Patel bowled James McDonagh for 2 (9 balls) 35-4. Wes Royle was battling at one end and lost another partner when Bob Bridges was trapped lbw by Danny Gilbert for 3 (15 balls) 43-5
Jacob Holland replaced Bridges and with Royle began to rebuild the innings, their partnership was 73 when Holland was out lbw to Punit Bisht for 21 (63 balls), 116-6. David Sullivan continued to support Royle with a partnership of 24 before he was caught by Michael Walling off Punit Bisht for 6 (11 balls) 140-7
Unfortunately for the hosts Wes Royle's innings came to a close when he was caught by Danny Gilbert off Ian Walling for 82 (138 balls) 147-8. Punit Bisht bowled Ben Thomas for 0 (3 balls) 148-9
Ian Walling bowled Matthew Timms for 1 (5 balls) as Vernon Carus were all out for 152 in 48.2 overs with Max Livesey 0no (2 balls)
Rizwan Patel took 4-37 from 13 overs, Punit Bisht 3-17 off 7, Ian Walling 2-26 from 13.2 and Danny Gilbert 1-20 off 8
Michael Wellings and Michael Walling opened for the visitors and put a stand 0f 108 when both batsmen were out, first Michael Wellings was run out by Bob Bridges for 78 (65 balls) 108-1 then Michael Walling was caught by Adam Parker off Ben Thomas for 25 (51 balls) 108-2
The new batsmen Punit Bisht 20no (28 balls) and Mark Walling 24no (29 balls) saw the visitors to victory closing on 153-2 in 28.3 overs
Ben Thomas was only wicket taker with 1-23 from 6
