The Northern Cricket League Review

It is the 19th round of matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League.
Garstang win and are one win away from the title, There were wins for Blackpool, Fulwood & Broughton, Kendal, Netherfield and St Annes.
The defeat of Vernon Carus against Kendal means they are relegated to the Moore & Smalley Palace Shield.

Blackpool v Longridge

Longridge had first knock at Stanley Park with Joshua Mullin and Like Platt opening, they were going steadily along until Matthew Grindley had Luke Platt caught by Ockert Erasmus for 20 (43 balls) 33-1.

Tom Howarth came in at three but quickly fell to the same combo caught Erasmus bowled Grindley for 0 (2 balls) 35-2. Zac Christie was the incoming batsman but lost Joshua Mullin caught behind by Ben Howarth off Matthew Grindley for 20 (43 balls) 48-3

Hugo Croft joined Christie but was soon out caught and bowled by Steven Mercer for 6 (15 balls) 57-8, James Whitehead was next in and became Matthew Grindley's fourth victim caught behind by Ben Howarth for 0 (4 balls) 58-5

Tom Turner replaced Whitehead but lost partner Zac Christie caught behind by Ben Howarth off Ockert Erasmus for 17 (63 balls), 69-6. William Vause was in next but was out lbw to Steven Mercer for 1 (5 balls) 74-7

Jake Durnell joined Tom Turner and they were making progess until Turner became Steven Mercer's third victim caught by Matthew Grindley for 29 (63 balls) 109-8, Jake Durnell was out next caught by Jake Muncaster off Ockert Erasmus for 17 (28 balls) 111-9

Caleb Bradford and Jonathan Millward were the last pair and were split by Joshua Boyne bowling Caleb Bradford for 1 (8 balls) as the visitors were 114 all out in 45.1 overs with Jonathan Millward 1no (9 balls)

The Blackpool wicket takers were Matthew Grindley 4-37 from 15 overs, Steven Mercer 3-26 off 15, Ockert Erasmus 2-30 from 8 and Joshua Boyne 1-0 off 1.1

The visitors got off to a great start with Jonathan Millward bowling Tomas King with the first ball of the innings 0-1, Joshua Boyne joined Jake Muncaster and they took the score to 24 when Muncaster was bowled by William Vause for 11 (21 balls) 24-2

Ockert Erasmus was in next but was stumped by Tom Turner off Caleb Bradford for 1 (15 balls) 37-3. That was the last success for the visitors as Joshua Boyne 54no (87 balls) and Dylan Henshall 35no (37 balls) saw the hosts home on 115 for 3 in 25.3 overs

For Longridge Jonathan Millward took 1-18 from 6 overs, William Vause 1-27 off 7 and Caleb Bradford 1-30 from 8

Chorley v Netherfield

Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and chose to bat first, Andrew Holdsworth and Will Moulton opened, Matt Jacksom broke the partnership having Will Moulton caught behind by Bradley Earl for 6 (9 balls) 15-1

Roshen Silva came in at three but soon lost his partner Andrew Holdsworth bowled by Samuel Medhurst for 14 (16 balls) 22-2, Harry Barclay came to the wicket but fell lbw to Matt Jackson for 0 (5 balls) 28-3

Alexander Howarth joined Roshen Silva and they took the score to 55 when Howarth became Matt Jackson's third victim caught behind by Bradley Earl for 16 (21 balls), 55-4. Edwin Moulton was the new batsmen and stayed with Roshen Silva until Louis Backhouse trapped Roshen Silva lbw for 19 (49 balls) 72-5

Louis Backhouse claimed his second wicket bowling Joseph Tiffin for 0 (3 balls) 72-6. Kyle Dixon was Edwin Moulton's next partner, Moulton had battled to stay there but fell caught by Matt Jackson off Sagar Udeshi for 0 (36 balls) 74-7.

Keiran McCullagh replaced Edwin Moulton but lost Kyle Dixon caught behind by Bradley Earl off Louis Backhouse for 1 (11 balls), 74-8, James Dunn came in at ten but was soon out bowled by Sagar Udeshi for 0 (8 balls) 79-9

The Chorley innings came to a close on 89 all out in 33.1 overs with Kieran McCullagh caught by Louis Backhouse off Daniel Bernet for 14 (25 balls) with Ian Oakes 0no (17 balls).

The wickets were share amongst the Netherifled bowlers, Louis Backhouse 3-6 from 8 overs, Matt Jackson 3-25 off 8, Sagar Udeshi 2-16 from 9, Daniel Bernet 1-1 off 1.1 and Samuel Medhurst 1-26 from 6

Bradley Earl and Josh Dixon opened for the visitors and were half way to their target when Josh Dixon was caught by James Dunn off Kieran McCullagh for 9 (19 balls) 44-1, Lee Hogg joined Bradley Earl but soon lost his partner as Earl was out lbw to Ian Oakes for 42 (31 balls) 54-2

Reece Irving was next in but on reaching 4 (10 balls) he was caught and bowled by James Dunn, 78-3. Daniel Bernet was Lee Hogg's new partner and they saw the visitors to victory closing on 93-3 in only 15.2 overs with Lee Hogg 33no (28 balls) and Daniel Bernet 2no (4 balls)

The Chorley wicket takers were James Dunn 1-11 from 1.2 overs with Ian Oakes 1-29 off 6

Garstang v Leyland

Garstang won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and invited the visitors to bat first, Leyland made 133 in 44.4 overs with Andrew Makinson top scoring with 32, Kurtis Watson made 19 as did no11 Joe Shackleton with No10 Alex Williams 10no

Ian Walling lead the way with 4-24 from 11.4 overs with Danny Gilbert 3-40 off 12, Joel Anthony Derham 2-32 from 9 and Rizwan Patel 1-32 off 12

In reply Garstang knocked off the runs reaching 136 for 3 in 23.5 overs thanks to Michael Walling 53 and Punit Bisht 46no with Ryan Pearson 25no

The two Leyland wicket takers were Andrew Jacques 2-21 from 5 overs and Iain Critchley 1-25 off 5

Kendal v Vernon Carus

Kendal won the toss at Shap Road and invited the visitors to bat first, the visitors got off to a disastrous start losing Jack Airey bowled for 0 by Kuldeep Singh with the first ball of the match. 0-1

Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage came in at three and with Wes Royle were going well until their stand was broken by Toby Tyson having Wes Royle caught by Paidi Robinson for 9 (44 balls), 51-2

Matthew Stevenson was next in and battled away until Matthew Park bowled him for 6 (41 balls) 67-3, Park then bowled Christian Ash for 0 (7 balls) 70-4, James Rigby replaced Ash but was soon out bowled by Chris Miller for 0 (5 baslls) 71-5

Matthew Park dominated the rest of the visitors innings, he claimed his third wicket trapping Ben Duerden lbw for 0 (5 balls) 78-6. Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage had been keeping one end going but he became Park's next victim bowled for 56 (97 balls) 85-7

Hasan Zaman became the next Park victim lbw for 1 (9 balls) 86-8 Matthew Timms was out first ball lbw to Park for 0. 86-9. Matthew Park took his seventh wicket bowling Jacob Holland for 5 (30 balls) as the visitors were bowled out for 95 in 43 overs with Kashi Jamil 3no (19 balls)

Matthew Park had figures of 7-19 from 7 overs, Kuldeep Singh had 1-13 off 8, Toby Tyson 1-21 from 5 and Chris Miller 1-24 off 15

The hosts got off to a bad start losing both openers very quickly, Paul Dodds was out lbw to Matthew Timms for 4 (12 balls) 4-1 quickly followed by Paidi Robinson run out by James Rigby for 0 (1 ball) 8-2

Rongsen Jonathan and Oliver Tyson were the new batsmen and they took contol and saw the hosts home on 99-2 in 20 overs with Rongsen Jonathan undefeated on 64 (59 balls) and Oliver Tyson 30no (49 balls)

Matthew Timms took 1-26 from 7 overs

The defeat today means that Vernon Carus are relegated to the Moore & Smalley Palace Shield Premier Division

Lancaster v St Annes

St Annes won the toss at Lune Road and put the hosts into bat. Lancaster got off to the worst start possible losing their top five batsmen for only ten runs, Mitch Bolus started the rot bowling Ben Simm for 4 (9 balls) 6-1

Lukman Vahaluwala had Laurie Atkinson caught behind for 1 (19 balls) 7-2, he then bowled Jamie Heywood for 2 (18 balls) 10-3, Mitch Bolus trapped Maduwartha Promod lbw for 1 ( 9 balls) 10-4, Jack Lord quickly followed caught by Andy Drake off Lukman Vahaluwala for 0 (5 balls) 10-5

Eddie Steinson and Steven Fisher had a mountain to climb, they had taked the score to 27 when Mitch Bolus claimed his third victim Steven Fisher bowled for 8 (18 balls),27-6. he then had Eddie Steinson caught by Nathan Bend for 5 (19 balls) 28-7

Kieran Moffat and Luke Phillips took on the fight but Mitch Bolus had other ideas, he bowled Kieran Moffat for 10 (6 balls) 41-8 then he had new batsman Lee Sparks caught behind by James Bradley for 1 (2 balls) 43-9

Lukman Vahaluwala closed the Lancaster innings on 66 in 25.1 overs by having Liam Moffat caught behind by James Bradley for 6 (6 balls) with Luke Phillips 20 no (41 balls)

The St Annes opening bowlers figures were Mitch Bolus 6-40 from 13 overs and Lukman Vahaluwala 4-20 off 12.1

Tom Higson and Yohan De Silva opened with a partnership of 46 broken with Tom Higson out lbw to Maduwartha Promod for 21 (24 balls), Lukman Vahaluwala replaced Higson and with De Silva saw the visitors home on 69-1 in 12.2 overs with Yohan De Silva 28no (44 balls) and Lukman Vahaluwala 13no (7 balls)

Maduwartha Promod took the only wicket for 28 in 6 overs

Penrith v Fulwood & Broughton

Penrith won the toss at Tynefield Park and chose to bat first, Nicky Burns and Asher Hart opened, Nicky Burns was caught behind by Mike Sambell off Jon Fenton from the fourth ball of the match for 0, 0-1

Shrikant Mundhe came in at three to become Jon Fenton's second victom bowled for 4 (9 balls) 11-2, Owen Jones joined Asher Hart and they were keeping the scoreboard ticking over, the introduction of Sonal Dinusha into the attack saw him have Owen Jones caught by Dom Jackson for 6 (19 balls) 40-3

Dinusha struck again having new batsman Greg Cameron lbw for 0 (6 balls) 44-4, Incoming batsman James Bowman did not fare any better bowled by Simon Kerrigan for 0 (1 ball) 49-5.

Jack White replaced Bowman and with Asher Hart took the score past the the hundred only to lose Asher Hart bowled by Dom Jackson for 64 (78 balls), 103-6, Jack White followed soon after caught by Muhammad Zaid off Simon Kerrigan for 28 (53 balls) 110-7

Alister Craig and Dylan Simpson were the new batsmen, Sonal Dinusha claimed a wicket in successive overs, first Dyan Simpson was bowled for 0 (2 balls) 111-8, then James Ellis caught by Muhammad Zaid for 0 (5 balls) 113-9

The final pair added 23 runs thanks to Alister Craig who was the last man out caught by Jon Fenton off Sonal Dinusha for 29 (63 balls) as Penrith were 136 all out in 40.3 overs with Nathan Ellwood 0no (3 balls)

Sonal Dinusha had 5-47 from 9.3 overs, Jon Fenton 2-15 oof 7, Simon Kerrigan 2-29 from 11 and Dom Jackson 1-18 off 6

Ewen Mansford and Matthew Smith opened for the visitors, Jack White made an early break through bowling Matthew Smith for 4 (7 balls) 5-1, incoming batsman Sonal Dinusha became White's second victim bowled for 14 (19 balls) 26-2

Zach Proctor joined Ewen Mansford and they were along nicely until Zach Proctor was caught by Owen Jones off Asher Hart for 33 (21 balls).

Simon Kerrigan replaced Proctor and with Mansford saw the visitors home on 137-3 in 30.2 overs with Ewen Mansord hitting the winning runs and reaching his fifty at the same time, Mansford was 51no ((97 balls) and Simon Kerrigan 26n0 (40 balls)

Jack White took 2-23 from 10 overs with Asher Hart 1-6 off 3
