It is the 16th round of matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League.
The leaders Garstang win and extend their lead at the top,
There were also wins for Chorley, Fulwood & Broughton, Lancaster and Netherfield but the extrordinary result was the win by Leyland bowling Vernon Carus out for 9 with Kurtis Watsom taking 7 wickets for 6 runs taking four wickets in four balls
Chorley v Blackpool
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and invited the visitors to bat first, Tomas King and Kasim Munir opened but were separated by Edwin Moulton trapping Tomas King lbw in the first over for 0 (5 balls) 0-1
Joshua Boyne came in at three but lost Munir bowled by Edwin Moulton for 2 (34 balls), 16-2, Naushad Shafi Shaikh replaced Munir and with Boyne had to fight for their runs, Sam Steeple broke the partnership having Joshua Boyne caught behind by Harry Barclay for 15 (37 balls) 24-3
Dylan Henshall was in next and continued the fight but lost Naushad Shafi Shaikh caught behind by Harry Barclay off Ian Oakes for 18 (49 balls) 65-4, Jake Muncaster joined Henshall but when he had made 9 (28 balls) he was bowled by Ian Oakes, 82-5
Ben Howarth was in at seven but soon fell caught by Joswph Tiffin off Will Moulton for 1 (8 balls) 83-6, Matthew Grindley was Henshall's next partner, Henshall's battling innings came to an end bowled by Keiran McCullagh for 36 (68 balls) 97-7
Alex Ryder was next in but with the score on 114 Matthew Grindley was run out by Sam Steeple fot 4 (37 balls), 114-8, Paul Danson came to the wicket but with only thirteen runs added Edwin Moulton had Danson caught behind by Harry Barclay for 3 (19 balls) 127-9.
Edwin Moulton closed the visitors innings having Jamie Thomson caught behind by Harry Barclay for 0 (1 ball) 127 all out in 48 overs with Alex Ryder 11no (14 balls)
The wicket takers were Edwin Moulton 4-16 from 10 overs, Ian Oakes 2-20 off 10, Sam Steeple 1-21 from 7, Keiran McCullagh 1-24 off 6 and Will Moulton 1-31 off 15
Andrew Holdsworth and Will Moulton opened for the hosts but found runs hard to come by, their partnership was 22 when Moulton was bowled by Matthew Grindley for 2 (28 balls) 22-1
Roshen Silva was number three and they took the score to 48 when both he and his partner were out, Holdsworth went first caught by Naushad Shafi Shaikh off Jamie Thomson for 30 (74 balls) 48-2, Silva followed lbw to Matthew Grindley for 7 (20 balls) 48-3
The visitors got on top with three quick wickets, Alfie Dobson was bowled by Matthew Grindley for 4 (15 balls) 55-4, Harry Barclay soon followed lbw to Naushad Shafi Shaikh for 3 (17 balls) 57-5, Matthew Grindley had Alexander Howarth caught by Kasim Munir for 1 (5 balls) 59-6
The hosts were rocking but Edwin Moulton and Joseph Tiffin knuckled down and guided them home to close on 117-6 in 41.1 overs with Moulton undefeated on 30 (50 balls) and Tiffin undefeated on 27 (38 balls)
For Blackpool Matthew Grindley took 4-22 from 15 overs with Naushad Shafi Shaikh 1-12 off 7 and Jamie Thomson 1-48 from 11
Fulwood & Broughton v Longridge
Longridge won the toss at the Highfield ground and elected to bat first, Luke Platt and Rhys Morgan got them off to a good start but on reaching 36 they were both out, Morgan was run out by Mike Sambell for 31 (33 balls) 36-1, Luke Platt followed caught behind by Mike Sambell off Jon Fenton for 5 (22 balls) 36-2
The two new batsmen were Matt Greenall and Tom Howarth, Greenall was soon out caught by Zach Proctor off Chris Brookes for 1 (6 balls) 42-3, Zac Christie joined Howarth who fell lbw to Chris Brookes for 7 (26 balls) 52-4
James Whithead replaced Howarth but was out caught and bowled by Sonal Dinusha for 0 (12 balls) 63-5, next in was Thomas Turner who became Sonal Dinusha's second victim stumped by Mike Sambell for 14 (21 balls) 82-6
William Vause was Zac Christie's next partner but soon became another victim for Sonal Dinusha caught by Lewis Wellings for 6 (21 balls) 96-7, Ollie Mullin came to the crease but lost his partner Zac Christie bowled by Dom Jackson for 34 (70 balls) 102-8
Jake Durnell came in at ten but became Sonal Dinusha's fourth victim lbw for 0 (10 balls) 103-9, the visitors innings came to an end on 121 all out in 47.1 overs with Caleb Bradford lbw to Jon Fenton for 7 (27 balls), Ollie Mullin was 13no (35 balls)
The Fulwood & Broughton wicket takers were Sonal Dinusha 4-11 from 15 overs, Chris Brookes 2-25 off 9, Jon Fenton 2-28 from 8.1 and Dom Jackson 1-40 off 11
Ewen Mansford and Mattew Smith gave the hosts a very good start with an opening partnership of 58 broken with Matthew Smith caught and bowled by Ollie Mullin for 38 (46 ball) 58-1, Sonal Dinusha joined Mansford but with the total on 78 Mansford fell lbw to Jake Durnell for 16 (71 balls) 78-2
Ben Rosbottom replaced Mansford and with Dinusha saw the hosts home on 122-2 in 31.3 overs with Sonal Dinusha 35no (36 balls) and Rosbottom 24no (34 balls)
For the visitors Ollie Mullin took 1-22 from 4 overs and Jake Durnell 1-33 off 11
Garstang v Penrith
Penrith won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and chose to bat first, They were bowled out for 89 in 35 overs with Asher Hart top scoring with 29, only three other players reached double figures, Nicky Burns 12, Greg Cameron 10 and Sulosan Thiru 10no
Danny Gilbert with 5-29 form 13 overs did most of the damage supported by Ian Walling 3-22 off 11 and Joel Anthony Derham 2-15 from 6
In reply Garstang lost both openers early Michael Wellings bowled by James Ellis for 2 and Michael Walling caught behind by Sulosan Thiru off Finlay Hansford for 5, Punit Bisht 38no and Mark Walling 36no saw the league leaders over the line reaching 91-2 in 14.2 overs
James Ellis took 1-37 in 7 overs with Finlay Hansford 1-41 from 7
Kendal v Lancaster
Lancaster won the toss at Shap Road and elected to bat first, Laurie Atkinson and Drupad Parmar opened but were soon parted as Parmar was out lbw to Kuldeep Singh for 2 (12 balls) 5-1
Irfan Khan came in at 3 and with Atkinson moved to score to 23, Atkinson fell caught by Matthew Park off Chris Miller for 10 (36 balls) 23-2, Eddie Steinson was next in but was out for 1 (8 balls) bowled by Kuldeep Singh, 30-3
Ben Simm replaced Steinson but was run out fot 4 (19 balls) by Sam Fletcher, 39-4, Steven Fisher joined Khan but on 8 (21 balls) he was trapped lbw by Chris Miller, 59-5, Kieran Moffat was next in and with Khan took the total to 86 when Moffat was caught by Alec Carradus off Toby Tyson for 9 (18 balls) 86-6
Irfan Khan was keeping the scoreoard ticking over and his next partner was David Sreinson, they had added 44 runs when Steinson was caught by Rongsen Jonathan off Toby Tyson for 16 (29 balls) 130-7, Liam Moffat came to the wicket but was out for 0 (6 balls) bowled by Matthew Park, 132-8
Matthew Paek closed the innings on 136 all out in 42 overs by first removing Lee Sparks bowled for 0 (5 balls) 136-9 then having Chris Beales caught by Chris Miller for 0 (2 balls). Irfan Khan was undefeated on 78 (97 balls)
The wickets were shared amongst the KendaL bowlers, Matthew Park 3-8 from 3 overs, Chris Miller 2-30 off 13, Toby Tyson 2-45 from 11 and Kuldeep Singh 2-50 off 15
The Kendal reply got off to a bad start losing both openers with the score on 3, first to go was Toby Tyson lbw to Liam Moffat for 0 (9 balls), 3-1, David Batty had the same fate lbw to Kieran Moffat for 3 (10 balls) 3-2
Chris Miller and Rongsen Jonathan were the two new batsmen and were making progress until Rongsen Jonathan was out lbw to Liam Moffat for 21 ( 28 balls) 28-3, next in was Terry Hunte but he lost his partner Chris Miller caught behind by Lee Sparks off Kieran Moffat. 30-4
Sam Flecher joined Hunte but soon became the fourth Kendal batsman to be out lbw to Liam Moffat for 1 (12 balls) 31-5. Harry Lee was next in and with Hunte were making progress and had taken the score to 53 when both were out, Lee was bowled by Kieran Moffat for 6 (26 balls) 53-6, Hunte followed lbw to Ben Simm for 18 (36 balls) 53-7
New batsman Oliver Yarker lasted only three balls bowled for 1 by Kieran Moffat 54-8. Matthew Park became Kieran Moffat's fifth victim caught by Chris Beales for 6 (15 balls) 64-9. The visitors innings closed on 66 all out in 32 overs with Kuldeep Singh caught by Laurie Atkinson off Ben Simm for 4 (19 balls) with Alex Carradus 0no (4 balls)
Kieran Moffat took 5-28 from 15 overs with Liam Moffat 3-27 off 11 and Ben Simm 2-7 from 6
Netherfield v St Annes
St Annes won the toss at Parkside Road and chose to bat first, Tom Higson and Yohan De Silva opened, Tom Higson was the first out caught by Finlay Richardson off Matt Jackson for 12 (14 balls) 17-1
Lukman Vahaluwala was in at three and with De Silva were going along nicely until Lukman Vahaluwala was caught by Matt Jackson off John Mason for 33 (54 balls) 84-2, Nathan Bolus was in next but almost immediately lost De Silva bowled by Thomas Kaber for 35 (70 balls) 86-3
Nathan Armstrong replaced De Silva but was run out by Thomas Kaber for 0 (9 balls) 90-4, Alex Bradley was in next but on 2 (11 balls) he was stumped by Ben Barrow off Thomas Kaber, 108-5.
Nathan Bend joined Nathan Bolus and he kept the scoreboard ticking over until he was stumped by Ben Barrow off Daniel Bernet for 26 (31 balls) 147-6, Nathan Bolus had been keeping one end going but his innings came to an end when he was lbw to Daniel Bernet for 32 (61 balls) 162-7
The two new batsmen were Harry Birkman and Tom Bradley, Bradley was quickly out caught and bowled by Daniel Bernet for 0 (6 balls) 170-8, Mitch Bolus was Birkman's next partner but became Daniel Bernet next victim lbw for 1 (7 balls) 173-9
James Bradley was last man in and supported Harry Birkman who was scoring at a run a ball, the visitors innings closed 196 all out in 50 overs with James Bradley run out by Daniel Bernet for 1 (6 balls), Harry Birkman was undefeated on 35 (35 balls)
Daniel Bernet was the hosts leading wicket taker with 4-23 from 8 overs, Thomas Kaber took 2-57 off 13 with John Mason 1-24 from 10 and Matt Jackson 1-25 off 7
Ben Barrow and Josh Dixon opened for the visitors but had a bad start losing Ben Barrow caught behind by James Bradley off Harry Birkman for 1 (11 balls) 3-1. Finlay Richarson came in at three but on 15 (11 balls) he was bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala. 26-2
Bradley Earl was next in but was quickly out caught and bowled by Harry Birkman for 3 (15 balls) 37-3, Thomas Kaber replaced Earl and with Dixon put the hosts in a strong position but then Lukman Vahaluwala had Kaber caught behind for 63 (92 balls)174-4
Daniel Bernet joined Dixon but fell caught by Tom Bradley off Harry Birkman for 3 (4 balls) 188-5, Ollie Wileman came to the wicket but was out after only four balls for 0 caught by Nathan Armstrong off Lukman Vahaluwala, 191-6
Josh Dixon had batted all through and reached his hundred in the last over as Netherfield ran out winners closing on 197-6 49.5 overs with Dixon 100no (158 balls) and Samuel Medhurst 1no.
The St Annes opening attack shared the wickets with Harry Birkman 3-42 from 7.5 overs with Lukman Vahaluwala 3-44 off 15
Vernon Carus v Leyland
Vernon Carus won the toss at the Vernon Carus Sports and Social Club ground and elected to bat on what turned out to be an extraordinary day, Matthew Stevenson and Wes Royle opened for the hosts, Stevenson was bowled by Andrew Jacques the first ball of the game for 0, 0-1
Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage was in at number three but then witnessed a procession of batsmen disappear at the other end, Wes Royle had made 1 (3 balls) when he was caught behind by Alex Williams, 2-2,
Bob Bridges replaced Royle and was the first of four wickets to fall in four balls to Kurtis Watson, With the fifth ball in his second over he had Bob Bridges caught by Alex Williams for 0 (5 balls), 2-3, the sixth ball of the over saw Jamie Rigby bowled for 0, 2-4
He began his third over by bowling Jack Ashworth first ball for 0 2-5, and with the sceond ball of the over having Ben Duerden caught behind by Alex Williams for 0 2-6,
Jacob Holland joined Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage and they tried to rebuild the shattered innings but Kurtis Watson claimed the first of two wickets in his sixth over Jacob Holland caught by Jacob Wright for 4 (25 balls) 8-7, Matthew Timms fell to the last ball of the over caught behind by Alex Williams (victim no 4) for 0 (4 balls). 8-8
Andrew Jacques followed his opening partner by taking two wickets in the same over, Ben Thomas was bowled for 0 (2 balls) 9-9,and two balls later Kashif Jamil was trapped lbw for 0 as Vernon Carus were bowled out for 9 in 12.5 overs. This being the second lowest score in League history
Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage was left stranded and finished on 4no (32 balls)
The Leyland bowlers remaekable figures were Kurtis Watson 6 overs, 4 maidens 6 runs 7 wickets also Andrew Jacques 6.5 overs 4 maidens 3 runs 3 wickets.
The surprises were not over as the visitors quickly lost their openers, James Rounding was caught by Ben Duerden for 0 (4 balls) 3-1, Jacob Wright fell caught behind by Bob Bridges off Kasun Ekanayake Mudiyanselage for 3 (12 balls), 3-2
The drama for the day was over as Karl Cross 8no (10 balls) and Kurtis Watson 2no (3 balls) saw the visitors home on 13-2 in 4.5 overs
