The Northern Cricket League Review

On a day when the rain once again effected all the 15th round matches for the Northern Premier Cricket League.
Blackpool and Kendal the only winners with Garstang and St Annes having winning draws
The matches between Leyland v Longridge and Vernon Carus v Netherfield were abandoned

Blackpool v Lancaster

Blackpool won the toss at Stanley Park and invited the visitors to bat frst, Laurie Atkinson and Eddie Steinson opened the batting but on 12 Steinson was caught behind by Ben Howarth off Matthew Grindley for 5 (19 balls) 12-1

Irfan Khan came in at three and with Atkinson took the score to 54 when two wickets fell, first to go was Laurie Atkinson lbw to Naushad Shafi Shaikh for 22 (43 balls) 54-2, the new batsman Jamie Heywood was out two balls later bowled by Naushad Shafi Shaikh for 0, 54-3

Ben Simm joined Khan but was soon out caught by Naushad Shafi Shaikh off Matthew Grindley for 2 (8 balls) 61-4. Kieran Moffat replaced Simm, but once again two wickets fell on the same score, Irfan Khan was stumped by Ben Howarth off Naushad Shafi Shaikh for 34 (39 balls) 75-5, Kieran Moffat was then run out by Kasim Munir for 7 ( 10 balls) 75-6

Steven Fisher and Luke Phillips tried to move the score along but on 88 Naushad Shafi Shaikh had Luke Phillips caught by Joshua Boyne for 7 (21 balls) 88-7, Liam Moffat was the new batsman but was out caught Boyne bowled Naushad Shafi Shaikh for 1 (4 balls) 95-8

Lee Sparks was in at ten but lost partner Steven Fisher caught Boyne bowled Jamie Thomson for 17 (24 balls) 102-9, the innings came to a close on 114 in 31 overs with Chris Beales run out by Jamie Thomson for 1 (3 balls), Lee Sparks was undefeated on 12 (5 balls)

Naushad Shafi Shaikh was Blackpool's best bowler with 5-31 from 9 overs with Matthew Grindley 2-32 off 12 and Jamie Thomson 1-21 from 4

Due to the weather Blackpool were set a revised total of 117 in 31 overs. Liam Moffat struck two early blows trapping Tomas King lbw for 4 (3 balls) 4-1, then bowling Joshua Boyne for 7 (24 balls) 19-2, Naushad Shafi Shaikh joined Kasim Munir and they took control but with one run required for victory Naushad Shafi Shaikh was out lbw to Chris Beales for 56 (48 balls) 116-3

Dylan Henshall came to the wicket and watched Kasim Munir 48no (74 balls) hit the winning run as Blackpool secured vitory reaching 117-3 in 24.1 overs

Liam Moffat took 2-52 from 11 overs with Chris Beales 1-7 off 1

Chorley v Garstang

Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and put the visitors in to bat in a reduced 62 over match, Garstang made 164-7 in their 31 overs thanks to the lower order with Danny Gilbert 39, Dan Curren 34no and Punit Bisht 31

The wickets were shared out amongst the Chorley bowlers, Roshen Silva 2-16 from 3 overs, James Lee 1-19 off 4, Edwin Moulton 1-34 from 8, Will Moulton 1-41 off 8 and Sam Steeple 1-49 from 8

In reply Chorely were 122-9 in there 31 overs with Joseph Tiffin top scoring with 31no

The Garstang bowlers like Chorley shared out the wickets, Ian Walling taking 3-42 from 8 overs, Joel Anthony Derham 2-14 off 8, Danny Gilbert 2-18 from 7 and Jacob Proctor 1-43 off 8

Leyland v Longridge

Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and asked the visitors to bat first, Only 7.2 overs were bowled as Longridge were 20-1 when the match was abandoned , Luke Platt the man out caught by James Critchley off Andrew Jacques for 0, Rhys Morgan 16 and Tom Howarth 5 were the not out batsmen

Penrith v Kendal

Penrith won the toss at Tynefield Park and decided to bat first, Ben Ellis and Nicky Burns opened and took the score to 22 when disaster struck for the home side losing three wickets without addition

The first to go was Ben Ellis bowled by Kuldeep Singh for 0 (20 balls) 22-1, two balls later Singh bowled Ollie Greenwood for 0, 22-2, Nicky Burns followed caught by Rongsen Jonathan off Harry Lee for 16 (33 balls) 22-3

Mohit Kale and Greg Cameron were the new batsmen and they battled to save the innings but with 51 on the scoreboard Greg Cameron fell caught behind by Sam Fletcher off Kuldeep Singh for 24 (27 balls) 51-4.

This brought Alister Craig to the wicket who was the first man out in a Kuldeep Singh hat-trick, Craig was caught behind by Sam Fletcher for 0 (8 balls) 57-5, next ball Finlay Hansford was bowled for 0 56-6, James Ellis was the hat-trick bowled for 0, 57-7

Things did not improve for the home side with only one run added two more wickets fell, Joe Robinson was bowled by Chris Miiier for 0 (1 ball), 58-8, Mohit Kale who had being watching the disaster at the other end was next to go becoming Kuldeep Singh'd seventh wicket caught behind by Sam Fletcher for 12 (29 balls) 58-9

Nathan Ellwood and Ben Johnston battled until Matthew Park brought the hosts innings to a close on 84 all out in 30.1 overs by bowling Ben Johnston for 13 (36 balls) with Nathan Ellwood 13no (23 balls)

The Penrith destroyer was Kuldeep Singh with 7-23 from 15 overs with Matthew Park 1-0 off 1 ball, Chris Miller 1-21 from 7 and Harry Lee 1-36 off 8

St Annes v Fulwood & Broughton

St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and elected to bat first, Tom Higson and Yohan De Silva opened, Higson was out in the first over caught by Sonal Dinusha off Chris Brookes for 0 (4 balls) 0-1

Lukman Vahaluwala came in at three but lost partner Yohan De Silva run out by Chrtis Brookes for 9 (11 balls) Nathan Bolus was in next but fell to Chris Brookes caught by Dom Jackson for 13 (14 balls) 42-3

Nathan Armstrong replaced Bolus but was soon out caught by Ben Parkinson for 1 (6 balls) 49-4, Alex Bradley joined Vahaluwala and they began to rebuild the innings until Vahaluwala was caught by Dom Jacksom off Chris Brookes for 34 (57 balls) 69-5

The incoming batsman was Andy Drake and with Bradley put on 40 runs, the partnership was broken with Andy Drake out lbw to Sonal Dinusha for 24 (35 balls) 109-6. Nathan Bend was in at Eight but fell bowled by Sonal Dinusha for 2 (8 balls) 113-7

Harry Birkman was Alex Bradley's new partner and they batted steadily taking the score to 151 when Birkman was stumped by Mike Sambell off Sonal Dinusha for 21 (36 balls) 151-8, James Bradley came in at 10 but was out for 8 (14 balls) caught by Ben Parkinson off Lewis Wellings for 8 (14 balls) 172-9

Alex Bradley 56no (105 balls) had held the innings together and with Mitch Bolus 3no (4 balls) saw the hosts to the close on 182-9 in 49 overs

The Fulwood & Broughton wicket takers were Sonal Dinusha 4-46 from 15 overs, Chris Brookes 3-32 off 13 and Lewis Wellings 1-24 from 6

Ewen Mansford and Ben Parkinson opened for the visitors and like the hosts the visitors lost an early wicket Ben Parkinson caught behind by James Bradley off Harr Birkman for 0 (8 balls) 9-1

Sonal Dinusha came in at three and with Mansford looked to have put the visitors in a wiining position, Lukman Vahaluwala broke the partnership having Dinusha caught by Nathan Armstrong for 50 (59 balls) 112-2

Ben Rosbottom replaced Dinusha and with Mansford slowly moved the score on, with the score on 145 Mansford's long innings ended stumped by James Bradley off Yohan De Silva for 78 (122 balls) 145-3

The pendulum began to swing in the hosts favour with a flurry of wickets, Muhammad Zaid joined Rosbottom but was soon out caught by Nathan Armstrong off Harry Birkman for 1 (8 balls) 148-4. Yohan De Silva accounted for Rosbottom stumped by James Bradley for 19 (53 balls) 153-5

Mike Sambell came in but was out first ball bowled by Lukman Vahaluwala for 0, 153-6. Lewis Wellings joined Zach Proctor but fell caught behind by James Bradley off Yohan De Silva for 5 (6 balls) 158-7

Jon Fenton was Proctor's next partner but in the 46th over the rains came with the visitors 7 rins short of victory on 176-7 in 46.2 overs, Proctor was 6no (10 balls) and Fenton 8no (7 balls)

For St Annes Yohan De Silva took 3-49 from 13 overs, Lukman Vahaluwala 2-27 off 13.2 and Harry Birkman 2-40 from 13

Vernon Carus v Netherfield

The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled
