The Northern Cricket League Review
Round 7 of the Northern Premier League saw St Annes register their first win of the season,
There were also wins for league leaders Longridge, Netherfield, Blackpool and Kendal.
The other game was a winning draw for Morecambe against local rivals Lancaster
Chorley v Netherfield
Netherfield won the toss at Windsor Park and chose to bat first, they made 206-8 in their 50 overs.
Shrikant Mundhe lead the way with 115 supported by Oli Wileman 28no and Finlay Richardson 25
Sam Steeple was Chorley's best bowler with 3-16 from 10 overs, Gaurav Dhar took 3-54 off 9 with Louis Johnson 1-22 from 6 and Siddash Lad 1-42 off 11.
In reply Chorley were bowled out in 44.4 overs for 137. Will Moulton 26 and Harry Barclay 22 were their top scorers.
The wickets were shared amongst the Netherfield bowlers, Isaac Medhurst 3-18 from 9 overs, Samuel Medhurst 2-18 off 7.4, Oli Wileman 2-23 from 8, Matt Jackson 2-27 off 8 and Richie Forsyth 1-24 from 7
Fleetwood v Blackpool
Blackpool won the toss at Broadwater and put the hosts into bat, Fleetwood were bowled out for 94 in 44.3 overs
The home side's batsmen struggled all afternoon Tom Wilson top scored with 25no, the top order were decimated by Matthew Grindley removing all of the first five batsmen.
Matthew Grindley took 5-21 from 15 overs with Shivam Chauan 3-27 off 9.3 and Matthew Siddall 2-20 from 9
In reply Blackpool knocked off the runs making 95-2 in 25.2 overs with Sam Dutton making 57no
Fulwood & Broughton v Longridge
Longridge won the toss at the Highfield ground and elected to bat first, Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin opened for the visitors and lost Platt trapped lbw by Abhay Negi for 8 (15 balls), 23-1.
James Whitehead came to the crease and with Mullin took control of the match, their partnership was 151 when Mullin was caught by Sam Berry off Matthew Smith for 92 (122 balls), 174-2
Daniel Wilkinson Jnr joined Whitehead and they took the score to 192 when Whitehead was stumped by Mike Sambell off Matthew Smith's bowling for 68 (114 balls) 192-3
No 5 was Thomas Turner and with Wilkinson Jnr put on 27 runs when Wilkinson Jnr became Matthew Smith's third victim caught by Sam Berry for 25 (23 balls), 219-4
Turner was next out bowled by Abhay Negi for 19 (11 balls) 232-5, Matthew Smith struck again trapping Daniel Wilson lbw for 4 (5 balls) 239-6.
In the last over of the Longridge innings Abhay Negi bowled Tom Wood for 6 (4 balls). The innings closed two balls later with the visitors on 241-7

The Fulwood & Broughton reply got off to a steady start with Mark Smith and Matthew Rosbottom taking the score to 38 when disaster struck for the home team losing three wickets without addition to the score.
First to go was Mark Smith caught by Tom Wood off Jonathan Millward for 27 (37 balls) 38-1, then Matthew Rosbottom trapped lbw by Daniel Wilson for 10 (40 balls) 38-2, Jonathan Millward took his second wicket bowling Ben Parkinson for 0 (4 balls) 38-3
Matthew Smith and Abhay Negi took on the task to rebuild the innings but having put on 15 runs Smith was out lbw to Millward for 4 (19 balls) 53-4, Mike Sambell was next in but fell caught by William Vause off Daniel Wilson for 3 (16 balls) 58-5
The hosts were in trouble figting to save the game, Sam Berry joined Negi and they took the total to 71 when Daniel Wilson had Negi caught behind by Thomas Turner for 27 (37 balls) 71-6
Berry was the next wicket to fall caught by Tom Wood off Caleb Bradford for 13 (24 balls), 89-7. Caleb Bradford took the visitors closer to victory when he had Dominic Jackson caught by James Whitehead for 3 (16 balls) 90-8
Jon Fenton had been battling away but his innings came to an end when he was trapped lbw by William Vause for 19 (47 balls) 105-9.
No 11 Chris Brookes was going down fighting hitting three fours before being bowled by Wiiliam Vause for 12 (7 balls) resulting in the hosts being bowled out for 117 in in 45.4 overs
The wickets were share around , Jonathan Millward took 3-22 from 12 overs, Daniel Wilson 3-31 off 15, Caleb Bradford 2-30 from 11 and William Vause 2-33 off 7.4
Kendal v Lancaster
Lancaster won the toss at Shap Road and invited the hosts to bat first, Chris Miller and Darren Nightingale opened for Kendal and took the score to 58 when Darren Nightingale was caught by Laurie Atkinson off Ben Simm for 31 (38 balls), 58-1.
Yuvrav Chhabra was no 3 but was soon out lbw to Atharva Taide for 0 (3 balls) 61-2, Ben Simm struck another blow for the visitors trapping Chris Miller lbw for 23 (50 balls) 67-3, Tom Aspinwall came in at no 5 but fell for 2 (7 balls) bowled by David Steinson, 78-4
Ben Phillips joined Chalana De Silva and they steadily began to build a total for the home side, they had added 48 runs when De Silva became the third batsman to be trapped lbw this time by Atharva Taide for 36 (43 balls) 126-5
Taide struck again without any addition to the score having Joseph Dodds caught by David Steinson for 0 (4 balls) 126-6, the home side looked in trouble when with only one run added Saeed Bariwala was caught by Laurie Atkinson off David Steinson for 0 (1 ball 127-7
Ben Phillips took charge of the Kendal innings and with Harry Lee put on 35 runs when Lee was caught by Damar Graham for 9 (22 balls) 162-8, Simm then struck a blow for the visitors bringing an end the Ben Phillips innings having him caught by Laurie Atkinson for 53 (76 balls) 163-9
The final pair put on 21 runs as Kendal were bowled out for 184 in 49 overs, Last man out was Richard Dakin stumped by Steven Fisher off Atharava Taide for 11 (32 balls) Kuldeep Sigh was undefeated on 10 (21 balls)
The Lancaster wicket takers were Ben Simm 4-37 from 11 overs, Atharva Taide 4-65 off 15 and David Steinson 2-31 from 10
The visitors got off to a diastrous start losing both openers with the scopre on 8, Irfan Qayyum was caught by Joseph Dodds off Tom Aspinwall for 4 (7 balls), next Steven Fisher was caught behind by Richard Dakin off Kuldeep Singh for 2 (13 balls) 8-2
Atharva Taide came in at no 3 and lost two partners with the total on 15, Lewis McGinley was run out by Ben Phillips for 1 (3 balls) 15-3, Tom Aspinwall bowled Laurie Atkinson for 0 (1 balls) 15-4
The Lancaster reply was in tatters but Taide and Andrew Chubb worked hard to rebuild innings, they moved the score to 82 when Chris Miller trapped Chubb lbw for 10 (40 balls) 82-5
Ben Simm joined Taide and had a partnership of 54 when Simm fell lbw to Kuldeep Singh fo 17 (51 balls) 136-6, Kuldeep Singh took his third wicket bowling Danny Welbourne for 1 (18 balls) 140-7
Any chance of the visitors saving the game went when Atharva Tiade was out caught by Chris Miller off Chalana De Silva for 91 (106 balls) 147-8
The Lancaster tail fought to save the game but Damar Graham was bowled by Chris Miller for 4 (22 balls) 151-9.
The innings closed 7 runs later when Kuldeep Singh gave Kendal victory trapping Lee Sparks lbw for 7 (4 balls) 158 all out in 45.3 overs with David Steinson 2no (17 balls)
Morecambe v Leyland
Leyland won the toss at Woodhill Lane and put the hosts into bat first, Gareth Pedder and Luke Peason opened with a psrtnership of 27 when Pearson was out caught behind by Joe Wallwork-Woods off Karl Cross for 17 (30 balls) 27-1
Charlie Swarbrick was no 3 and with Pedder moved the score on to 89 when Pedder was caught and bowled by Iain Critchley for 50 (71 balls) 89-2. Rongsen Jonathan joined Swarbrick and they put the home side in charge with a partnership of 132 when Jonathan scoring at a run a ball was caught by James Rounding off Saliya Saman for 52 (50 balls) 221-3
Swarbrick was next out caught by Kurtis Watson off Ben Weaver for 101 (89 balls)(7x4 7x6) 226-4.
The Leyland bowlers started to fight back Saliya Saman had Ryan Pearson caught by Lloyd Tennant for 7 (12 balls) 242-5
Ben Weaver bowled Kieran Moffat for 0 (2 balls) without further addition to the score, 242-6, only two runs had been added when Saliya Saman ran out Lewis Smith for 1 (3 balls) 244-7, Weaver struck again having Alex Briggs caught by Iain Critchley for 12 (19 balls) 248-8
Leyland took their nineth wicket when Reuben Orr was stumped by Joe Wallwork-Woods off Ben Weaver for 8 (11 balls) 255-9, The innings closed after their 50 overs on 269-9 with Liam Moffat 12no (6 balls) and Louis Backhouse 4no (7 balls)
The Leyland wicket takers were Ben Weaver 4-57 from 8 overs, Saliya Saman 2-46 off 15, Karl Cross 1-40 from 8 and Iain Critchley 1-53 off 8
In reply the Leyland opening pair had taken the score to 27 when Louis Backhouse struck trapping Karl Cross lbw for 14 (14 balls) 27-1 then two balls later having Kurtis Waton lbw for 0 (2 balls) 27-2
Saliya Saman came in at no 4 to join James Rounding but only four runs had been added when Rounding was caught behind by Reuben Orr off Liam Moffat for 17 (24 balls), 31-3. Moffat struck again shortly afterwards having Lloyd Tennant caught behind by Reuben Orr for 2 (5 balls) 39-4
Andrew Makinson was Saman's next partner and they steadily began to rebuild the innings, their partnership was 60 when Liam Moffat trapped Makinson lbw for 21 (53 balls) 99-5.
Jacob Wright came in next and with Saman took the total to 125 when Wright was caught by Ryan Pearson off Rongsen Jonathan for 14 (22 balls) 125-6
Saman was the Leyland anchor and hoping to find a parter to stay with him, Iain Critchley did his best to support his partner but when they had added 50 Critchley was bowled by Rongsen Jonathan for15 (36 balls) 175-7
Leyland's no 9 was Joe Walwork-Woods who added 23 runs with Saman before he was run out for 5 (10 balls) 198-8. Gareth Pedder then had Ben Weaver lbw for 0 (2 balls) without any addition to the score 198-9
David Makinson was Leyland's last batsman and with Saman saw the visitors innings to the close ending on 202-9, Makinson was 0 no (2 balls) and Saliya Saman was 105no (130 balls) (11x4 3x6)
Liam Moffat took 3-51 from 15 overs, Rongsen Jonathan 2-24 off 9 Louis Backhouse 2-37 from 8 and Gareth Pedder 1-8 off 2
St Annes v Garstang
St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and invited the visitors to bat first, Garstang lost opener Joseph Pearson bowled by Harry Birkman for 0 (18 balls) 0-1
Mark Walling joined Michael Wellings and they took the score to 22 when Wellings was caught by Nathan Bolus off the bowling of Mitch Bolus for 20 (24 balls) 22-2
Punit Bisht came in at four and struggled until he was out caught behind by Alex Bradley off Tom Bradley for 12 (31 balls) 44-3, Tom Bradley struck again when he had Mark Walling caught by Luke Jardine for 11 (37 balls) 53-4
Things did not improve for the visitors Mohammed Yusuf was caught by Tom Bradley off Mitch Bolus for 2 (10 balls) 60-5, Matthew Crowther and Dan Curwen dug in an effort to revive the Garstang innings.
Their partnership was 52 when Curwen was out lbw to Harry Birkman for 27 (48 balls) 112-6, Danny Gilbert joined Crowther and they had added 60 when Gilbert was out to a fine catch by Luke Jardine off Harry Birkman for 43 (46 balls) 172-7
Ian Walling soon followed to a good catch by Harry Birkman off Tom Higson for 1 (3 balls) 182-8. The innings closed with Garstang 186-8, Matthew Crowther 38no (82 balls) with Toby Lush 1no
Harry Birkman took 3-37 from 11 overs, Tom Bradley 2-16 off 8 Mitch Bolus 2-28 from 15 and Tom Higson 1-49 from 10
In reply St Annes got off to a bad start, with only seven runs on the board Andy Drake was caught by Punit Bisht off Danny Gilbert for 0 (10 balls) 7-1
Gurman Bains came in at three but had only made 1 (11 balls) when he was caught by Dan Curwen off Ian Walling, 9-2. Ian Walling struck again bowling Tom Higson for 10 (7 balls) 19-3
Alex Bradley was playing the anchor role and was joined by Nathan Bolus, they dug in and patiently played their way out of trouble and put the home team in with a match winning opportuity
Their partnership had taken the score to 145 when Alex Bradley was bowled by Mohammed Yusuf for 63 (113 balls), 145-4. That was the last success for the visitors as Nathan Bolus 84no (131 balls) and Nathan Armstrong 14no (14 balls) saw St Annes home to their first victory of the season at 187-4 in 47.3 overs
The Garstang wicket takers were Ian Walling 2-54 from 14 overs, Danny Gilbert 1-36off 15 and Mohammed Yusuf 1-52 from 11.3
