The Northern Cricket League Review

Round 5 of the Northern Premier League was once again effected by the weather, only two games could be played Garstang defeated Netherfield and Kendal and Fleetwood tied.

Chorley v Longridge

The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Fulwood & Broughton v St Annes

The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Garstang v Netherfield

Netherfield batted first at the Riverside Sports ground and made 143-7 off 46 0vers. The visitors were in trouble but no 7 Finlay Richardson 34no and James Bowman 31 gave them a total to defend

Josh Dixon 22, Ben Barrow 20 and Richie Forsyth 18 were the other batsmen to reach double figures.

The wickets were shared out amongst the Garstang bowlers, Ian Walling 2-45 from 14 overs, Ashar Zaidi 1-26 off 15, Mohammed Yusuf 1-6 from 2 and 1-53 off 13 for Danny Gilbert

Due to rain the hosts were set a reduced total of 126 for victory, this was achieved after a scare reaching 126-8 in 35 overs

The Garstang hero was Michael Walling with 68no, Walling and Ashar Zaidi were seemingly guiding the hosts to victory but the introduction of Oli Wileman into the attack through a spanner in the works.

He had Zaidi caught by Bradley Earl for 31 and then took a further 4 wickets but Walling and Danny Gilbert 4no saw Garstang home.

Oli Wileman took 5-20 from 7 overs, Matt Jackson 1-15 off 8, Richie Forsyth 1-19 from 8 and Shrikant Mundhe 1-45 off 7

Kendal v Fleetwood

Fleetwood won the toss at Shap Road and put Kendal in to bat, they made a quick break through with Declan Clerkin bowling Darren Nightingale for 1 (5 balls), 2-1

Edward Price joined Chris Miller and the Kendal batsmen were made to fight for their runs, they had taken the total to 36 when Chris Miller was caught by Tom Wilson off James Amor for 27 (56 balls), 36-2

No 4 was Chalana De Silva and with Price had a partnership of 25 when Price was caught and bowled by Dyllan Matthews for 14 (56 balls) 61-3. The next batsman was Saeed Bariwala but had only made 1 (11 balls) when he was bowled by James Amor. 66-4

Dyllan Mathews struck wothout further addition to the score trapping De Silva lbw for 21 (23 balls) 66-5. Runs were not easy to come by and 12 runs had been added when William Price was caught by Ben Reader off Jack Wilkinson for 4 (20 balls) 78-6

Things did not improve for the hosts as three runs later Oliver Killiner became Jack Wilkinson's second victim caught by Declan Clerkin for 7 ( 14 balls) 81-7

Harry Lee and Richard Dakin batted sensibly and took the total to 104 when Lee was bowled by Jack Wilkinson for 9 (17 balls), 104-8

Kuldeep Singh joined Dakin and they began to build a score that would give the hosts a chance, their partnership was 52 when Dakin was stumped by Harry McAleer off Dyllan Matthews for 35 (42 balls), 156-9

The innings closed without further addition when Kuldeep Singh was caught by Charlie Clark off Jack Wilkinson for 29 (24 balls) 156 all out, Matthew Park was 0no (3 balls)

Jack Wilkinson took 4-36 from 9.1 overs, Dyllan Matthews 3-48 off 12, James Amor 2-40 from 14 and Declan Clerkin 1-25 off 10

The Fleetwood opening pair of James Gregson and Charlie Clark had taken the score to 14 when Gregson was caught by Harry Lee off Kuldeep Singh for 10 (15 balls) 14-1.

No 3 Declan Clerkin soon followed caught by Saeed Bariwala off Chalana De Silva for 2 (8 balls), 18-2. Chris Miller struck 12 runs later having Dyllan Matthews caught and bowled for 4 (10 balls) 30-3

Harry McAleer and Clark had a partnership of 22 when Miller bowled McAleer for 15 (23 balls) 52-4, Tom Wilson was the next batsman and with Clark moved the score to 86 when Wilson was trapped lbw by Kuldeep Singh for 14 (25 balls) 86-5

The chances of a Fleetwood victory took a knock when anchor Charlie Clark was bowled by Matthew Park for 43 (85 balls) 88-6. One run later Ben Reader was out caught by Saeed Bariwala off Kuldeep Singh for 0 (3 balls) 89-7

The revised total of 147 looked along way off but Fleetwood battled on, Mat Clark fell with the total on 103 bowled by Chalana De Silve for 1 (10 balls) 103-8

Captain Adam Sharrocks was going along at around a run a ball and with Jack Wilkinson took the score to 139 just 8 short of victory when Sharrocks was bowled by Kuldeep Singh for 41 (45 balls) 139-9

Victory was in sight but who for, Fleetwood required 8 and Kendal 1 wicket, the match ended when Chris Miller trapped James Amor lbw for 1 (2 balls) meaning Fleetwood were 146 all out and the match was tied. Jack Wilkinson was undefeated on 15 (21 balls).

The Kendal bowlers were Kuldeep Singh 4-42 from 11 overs, Chris Miller 3-47 off 11.1, Chalana De Silva 2-29 from 14 and Matthew Park 1-28 off 5

Leyland v Lancaster

The match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Morecambe v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at Woodhill Lane and invited the hosts to bat first.

Morecambe had made 47-0 from 9 overs when the game was abandoned

Gareth Pedder was 22no and Luke Pearson 23no. For Blackpool Matthew Grindley bowled 5 overs for 27 and Richard Gleeson 4 for 18
