The Northern Cricket League Review
Round 3 of the Northern Premier League saw Longridge and Netherfield with 100% records defeating Garstang and St Annes respectively.
There were also wins for Blackpool, Fulwood & Broughton and Fleetwood with Morecambe having a winning draw against local rivals Lancaster.
Chorley v Fulwood & Broughton
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and were bowled out for 105 in 30.1 overs. Joseph Tiffin top scored with 44, Ben Simpkins 17, Will Moulton 11 and No10 Ian Oakes 11no were the only other batsmen to reach double figures
Abhay Negi was the man who did the damage with 15 overs 4 maidens 26 runs and 6 wickets, he was supported by Matthew Smith 3.1 overs 2-26 and Jon Fenton 12 overs 2-48.
In reply Fulwood & Broughton were given a fright as James Lee took three early wickets, Abhay Negi and Mark Smith steadied the ship, Smith fell for 14 to be replaced by Mike Sambell, with Negi they steered the visitors in sight of victory when Negi was out for 29
Sambell and Jon Fenton pushed on but Fenton fell for 13, Sambell 28no and Teddy Gipson 2no saw the visitors home on 108-6 in 31.2 overs
James Lee finished with 3-23 from 7 overs. The other wicket takers being Louis Johnson 1-8 off 5, Siddesh Lad 1-14 from 5.2 and Samuel Steeple 1-29 off 5
Garstang v Longridge
Longridge won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and chose to bat first, they made 195-4 in their 50 overs, Luke Platt 85no carried his bat, he was supported by Zac Christie 47 and Joshua Mullin 27.
The Garstang bowlers had a tough afternoon, Danny Gilbert took 2-63 from 15 overs, Mansoor Amjad 1-41 off 11 and Ian Walling 1-52 from 15
The Garstang reply struggled from the start, Opener Michael Wellings top scored with 37, fellow opener Michael Walling 10 and Mohammed Yusuf 13 were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Garstang were bowled out for 95 in 40.3 overs
Daniel Wilson 4-29 from 14 overs was the visitors leading wicket taker, Caleb Bradford 2-11 off 8.3 and Jonathan Millward 2-31 from 12 were the other wicket takers.
Kendal v Blackpool
Kendal won the toss at Shap Road and elected to bat, they got off to a steady start with openers Chris Miller and Darren Nightingale, the score had reached 31 when Miller was caught by Jake Muncaster off Chris Baines for 8 (16 balls), 31-1.
Tom Aspinwall joined Nightingale and they moved the total to 55 when Nightingale was trapped lbw by Matthew Grindley for 30 (38 balls), 55-2, Grindley struck again without further addition to the score trapping Ben Phillips lbw for 0 (4 balls) 55-3
Grindley was on fire and took two quick wickets, having Chalana De Silva caught by Tomas King for 6 (4 balls) 63-4, then having Saeed Bariwala caught behind by Ben Howarth for 1 (9 balls). 65-5
Kendal's situation did not improve Tom Aspinwall's battling innings came to an end caught by Shivam Chauhan off Matthew Siddall for 21 (46 balls), 71-6, Siddall took his second wicket that off William Price lbw for 11 (28 balls) 83-7
The Kendal tail battled away but succumbed to the persistence of Matthew Grindley, Shane Hyland was caught by Tomas King off Grindley for 10 (31 balls) 91-8, Harry Lee became another lbw victim to Grindley for 0 (17 balls) 91-9.
Grindley closed the innings with his seventh wicket Matthew Park caught and bowled for 0 (22 balls), Kendal were all out for 98 in 36.5 overs
Matthew Grindley's figures were 14.5 overs 7 maidens 38 rund 7 wickets supported by Matthew Siddall 2-16 from 12 and Chris Baines 1-30 off 6
The Blackpool innings got off to a shock start, Tomas King was trapped lbw by Kuldeep Singh for 6 (10 balls) 7-1, then Sam Dutton was caught behind by Shane Hyland off Chalana De Silva for 3 (10 balls) 15-2
Shivam Chauhan joined Ciaran Johnson and moved the score to 43 when Chauhan was bowled by De Silva for 17 (16 balls) 43-3. Joshua Boyne was next in and with Johnson took control seeing the visitors home without further loss.
Joshua Boyne made 39no from 47 balls and Ciaran Johnson 37 off 53 balls.
For Kendal Chalana De Silva took 2-53 from 12 overs and Kuldeep Singh 1-19 off 4
Lancaster v Morecambe
Lancaster won the toss at Lune Road and invited the visitors to bat first. Morecambe declared on 314-4 after 45 overs with Rongsen Jonathan 127 (13 fours and 5 sixes) and Charlie Swarbrick 124 (13 fours and 3 sixes).
It was a hard day in the field for the Lancaster bowlers, Atharva Taide took 2-58 from 13 overs and Damar Graham 2-84 off 12.
The Lancaster reply was never going to be near the visitors toal but they battled away and were 185-9 from 55 overs at the close.
Atharva Taide top scored with 77, David Rippengal made 38 with Ben Simm 18no and Faizan Khan 11no
Louis Backhouse took 4-41 from 12 overs with Liam Moffat 2-26 off 14 and Rongsen Jonathan 2-43 from 11
Leyland v Fleetwood
Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and asked the visitors to bat first, Fleetwood made 187-6 in their 50 overs, Jack White was 95no (10 fours 3 sixes) (120 balls), supported by Tom Wilson 30 (43 balls) and James Gregson 22 (73 balls)
Kurtis Watson had the best figures of the Leyland bowlers with 4-42 from 15 overs, Ben Weaver 1-36 off 11 and Joe Shacleton 1-40 from 10
Leyland in reply battled but were bowled out for 136 in 35.4 overs, No 9 Ben Weaver with 40 (51 balls) top scored with Jon Wallwork-Woods 28 (37 balls), Iain Critchley 20 (39 balls), Jacob Wright 18 (37 balls) and James Rounding 14 (14 balls)
The Fleetwood openening bowlers did the damage Jack White 4-46 from 13 overs, Alex Ryder 4-51 off 15 with Jack Wilkinson 1-4 from 2.4 and Will Reader 1-28 off 5
Netherfield v St Annes
St Annes won the toss at Parkside Road and decided to bat, They were bowled out for 127 in 46 overs, Nathan Bolus top scored with 37 with contributions from Tom Higson 25 and Gurman Bains 25.
The Netherfield hero was Matt Jackson 6-38 from 13 overs with support from Richie Forsyth 3-24 off 13 and Oli Wileman 1-28 from 10
In reply Netherfield reached their total of 128-5 in 33 overs with Ben Barrow 48 top scoring assited by Shrikant Mundhe with 25
The St Annes wicket takers were Tom Bradley 2-26 from 5, Matthew Yeadon 2-32 off 9 and Mitch Bolus 1-18 from 7
