Match Day 4th September 2021 The Northern Cricket League Review Round 22 of the Northern Premier League saw the final relegation place decided, three teams were involved Chorley, Morecambe and St Annes. Chorley defeated Fleetwood meaning St Annes had to gain 6 points from their match and Morecambe 5 St Annes gained 6 bonus points in their defeat at Leyland but Morecambe could only gain 2 in their loss v Garstang so Morecambe fill the final relegation spot A Lancaster win against Fulwood & Broughton and defeat for Longridge at Kendal see Lancaster as Runner's up The Champions Blackpool lost at home to Netherfield The Champions - Blackpool Runners Up - Lancaster. Relegated - Fleetwood and Morecambe Blackpool v Netherfield Netherfield won the toss at Stanley Park and elected to bat first, their opening partnership was 14 when Josh Dixon was bowled by Jamie Thomson for 0 (15 balls) 14-1 James Bowman joined Ben Barrow and they batted steadily taking the score to 42 when Bowman was stumped by Ben Howarth off Matthew Siddall for 24 (42 balls) 42-2, Ben Barrow followed suffering the same fate stumped Howarth bowled Siddall for 22 (60 balls) 57-3 The visitors now had two new batsmen at the crease, Shrikant Mundhe and Finlay Richardson, they began to take control of the game but with the total on 155 Finlay Richardson became Matthew Siddll'a third victim bowled for 35 (53 balls) 155-4 Siddall struck again bowling Bradley Earl for 2 (9 balls) 163-5, Shrikant Mundhe was going along at a run ball but lost his next partner Thomas Anderton caught by Jamie Thomson to give Matthew Siddall his fifth wicket for 15 (13 balls) 199-6 The Nerthfield innings closed on 214-6 in their 50 overs with Shrikant Mundhe 107no (105 balls)(14x4 2x6) and Oli Wileman 3no (3 balls) Matthew Siddall took 5-69 from 15 and Jamie Thomson 1-43 off 8 The Blackpool reply was the same as the visitors losing an early wicket, Sam Dutton lbw to Matt Jackson for 0 (4 balls) 11-1, Fellow opener Tomas King was next out caught by Ben Barrow off Shrikant Mundhe for 20 (27 balls) 28-2 Ciaran Johnson and Sachithra Serasinghe were watchful of the visitors attack but on 50 Johnson was bowled by Samuel Medhurst for 14 (28 balls) 50-3, Jake Muncaster replaced Johnson and had made 13 (36 balls) when he was caught by Josh Dixon off Reece Irving, 86-4 Serasinghe was next to fall caught by Bradley Earl off Oil Wileman for 36 (45 balls) 104-5, Ben Howarth and Joshua Boyne had put on 24 when Boyne was caught by Bradley Earl off Thomas Anderton for 12 (20 balls) 128-6 The champions were staring defeat in the face when Matthew Grindley was trapped lbw 3 (12 balls) by Oli Wileman 138-7, followed quickly by Ben Howarth caught by Bradley Earl off Oli Wileman for 34 (32 balls) 141-8 The Blackpool tail were fighting a rearguard action but Oli Wileman had other idea's, he had Jamie Thomson caught by Bradley Earl (his fourth catch) 13 (9 balls) 161-9, he then trapped Paul Danson lbw for 27 (27 balls) to close the innings on 186 in 43.4 overs. Matthew Siddall was 6no (16 balls) The Netherfield wicket takers were Oil Wileman 5-42 from 11.4 overs, Shrikant Mundhe 1-22 off 7, Thomas Anderton 1-26 from 6, Samuel Medhurst 1-27 off 7, Reece Irving 1-29 from 4 and Matt Jackson 1-38 off 8 Fleetwood v Chorley This was a match that Chorley must win to keep their hopes of avoiding relegation alive, Fleetwood won the toss at Broadwater and chose to bat first, They were bowled out in 35.2 overs for 105 with Declan Clerkin top scoring with 20 and Alex Ryder making 19 The Chorley heroes were Will Moulton taking 5-38 from 13.2 overs and Samuel Steeple 5-42 off 15 In reply Chorley took just 24.4 overs to score the required runs ending on 107-1, Siddesh Lad was 65no and Ben Simpkins made 28 The visitors could now only wait for the results at Leyland and Morecambe to know their fate Kendal v Longridge Kendal won the toss at Shap Road and put the visitors into bat, Luke Platt and Joshua Mullin opened but Mullin was soon out lbw to Toby Tyson for 0 (4 balls) 8-1 Matt Joyce joined Platt and they steadily built the score until both were out with the score on 22, firstly Joyce was bowled by Toby Tyson for 11 (30 balls) 22-2, then Platt was bowled by Chalana De Silva for 9 (38 balls) 22-3 The introduction of Chris Miller into the attack saw him take two wickets in his first over, Daniel Wilson was bowled for 1 (10 balls) 27-4, followed two balls later by Jonathan Millward lbw for 0 27-5 Zac Christie and Thomas Turner battled to rebuild the visitors innings, with 13 runs added Chalana De Silva bowled Thomas Turner for 13 (41 balls) 48-6. Mansford took his sith wicket trapping Irfan Qayyum for 0 (2 balls) 205-7 Atharva Taide had reached his century and was keeping one end going, Damar Grahm was the next to support Taide but was run out by |Mansford for 11 (19 balls) 232-9. Ewen Mansford closed the Lancaster innings bowling Lee Sparks for 6 (6 balls) with the total on for 247 in 46.4 overs. Saliya Saman top scored with 50 (78 balls) with Jacob Wright 20 (46 balls), Karl Cross 13 (23 balls) and vital contributions from No 9 Andrew Jacques 12 (47 balls) and no 10 Ian Farrington 19no (49 balls) Tom Higson lead from the front taking 4-27 from 9.2 overs, Tom Bradley 4-33 off 12 and Harry Birkman 2-29 from 9. St Annes in bowling out the hosts claimed 3 bonus points needing only three more for safety In reply Tom Higson gave the visitors a chance with 47 (55 balls), Nathan Armstrong and Alex Bradley looked to have put St Annes in sight of victory but the introduction of Nathan McDonnell changed all that. Morecambe won the toss at Woodhill Lane and elected to bat first The opening pair of Lewis Smith and Kieran Moffat had reached 21 when Danny Gilbert had Lewis Smith caught by Dan Curwem for 9 (33 balls) 21-1, two balls later he bowled Rongsen Jonathan for 0 (2 balls) 21-2 Things did not improve for the home side with Kieran Moffat falling to Ian Walling's first ball of the over caught behind by Matthew Crowther for 12 (30 baslls) 29-3. with his third ball of the over he had Luke Pearson caught by Mark Walling for 0 (2 balls) 29-4 Morecambe were in trouble Ryan Pearson and Andy Bird fought to rebuild the innings but with the total on 50 Morecambe for the third time lost 2 wickets on the same score.
