Once again the weather was perfect for playing cricket, Fulwood & Broughton won their first Northern Premier League match, there were also wins for Blackpool, St Annes, Netherfield and Morecambe
DIVISION ONE:
Barrow v Netherfield
Barrow won the toss at the Ernest Pass Memorial Ground and elected to bat
They did not get off to a good start with Toby Mowat run out for 0, 2-1, the score had moved on to 13 when Ryan Gilmour was caught by John Boyle off the bowling of Harrison Cox for 5
Matt Jackson struck having Robin Adams caught behind by Lewis Edge for 6, 27-3, Grant Roelofsen and Greg Reynolds dug in and began to regain some control
After a stand of 47 Greg Reynolds's patient innings came to a close when he was trapped lbw by Marc Hadwin for 16 off 42 balls, 74-4
Daryl Wearing joined Roelofsen and had made 14 when he was bowled by Marc Hadwin, 100-5, Glen Kermode followed on the same score for 0 another Hadwin victim, 100-6
The seventh wicket fell on 113 Sam Henderson caught by Ben Barrow off Harrison Cox for 7, Barrow were in deep trouble Patrick Allington becoming another Cox victim bowled for 1, 122-8
One run had been added when the nineth wicket fell Tom Penny lbw to Marc Hadwin for 0 123-9
The innings came to an end when Grant Roelofsen's innings of 67 off 102 balls came to an end last out with the score on 132
Harrison Cox was Netherfield's best bowler with 4-18 off 12.1 overs ably supported by Marc Hadwin 4-37 off14 and Matt Jackson 1-14 off 8
The Netherfield reply had reached 15 when Bradley Earl was caught by Grant Roelofsen off Toby Mowat's bowling for 1.
Ben Barrow and John Boyle took control and took the score to 117 when Boyle was caught by Daryl Wearing off the bowling of Patrick Allington for 45 off 82 balls
The match was won shortly afterwards Netherfield reaching 133-2 off 29.2 overs with Ben Barrow ubdefeated on 71 off 80 balls
Toby Mowat took 1-23 and Patrick Allington 1-18 for Barrow
Blackpool v Fleetwood
On a glorious sunny day at Stanley Park Fleetwood won the toss and decided to bat
All the Fleetwood batsmen got in but failed to make a big score, Dean Bell was top scorer with 46 follwed by Alex Ryder 32no with Jeremy Davies 25, Neels Bergh 20, Declan Clerkin 17, Matt Clark 16 and Adam Shorrocks 13
Jovaun Van Wyngaardt took 2-25 off 10, Matthjew Siddall and Jamie Thomson both took 1-34 with Matthew Grindley taking 1-60 from 17 overs
The Blackpool reply got off to a disastrous start with Tomas King stumped for 0 and Joshua Boyne caught by Neels Bergh for 0 both off the bowling off Sam Bell
Matthew Houston and Joavaun Van Wyngaardt set about retrieving the situation, Van Wyngaardt made 19 bowled by Neels Bergh. Jake Muncaster was Blackpool's saviour with 62no aided by Houston 44 and Andy Furniss 20
The match was all over in 40 overs with Blackpool 175-7 with Jake Muncaster 62no and Matthew Grindley 10no seeing the hosts over the line
Sam Bell took 3-36 off 11 overs with Neels Bergh 2-42 off 14, Joe Bell 1-19 and Damien Hutchinson 1-48
Chorley v Leyland
Chorley won the toss at Windsor Park and chose to bat, after the loss of Stuart Naden for 17 and Edwin Moulton for 1 Wian Van Zyl took charge and made 134 (11x4, 9x6) as Chorley declared on 267-8 off 46 overs
Van Zyl was supported by Andrew Holdsworth 36, Gayan Maneeshan 34, Harry Barclay 23 and Will Moulton 15
For Leyland Will Jacques took 3-59, Andrew Jacques 3-68, Ross Bretherton 2-37 and Umar Waheed 0-65 off 17
In reply Leyland lost the early wicket of Jake Peake caught by Andrew Holdsworth off Edwin Moulton for 7, Tom Reece and Umar Waheed fought to get Leyland back in the game
Reece was out for 28 lbw to Joe Barker followed by Ross Bretherton 2 Nathan Braithwaite 10 and Karl Cross 2 Leyland were in trouble
Captain James Rounding steadied the ship but lost Waheed for 62 (7x4) and Ian Farrington for 9, but saw Leyland through the the close on 44no with the total 186-7 off 54 overs
Joe Barker took 3-13 off 7 overs, Stuart Naden 2-29 off 14 with Edwin Moulton taking 2-52 also off 14
Fulwood & Broughton V Penrith
Fulwood & Broughton won the toss and decided to bat on a fabulous sunny dat at Highfield
Amin Patel was on 11 when he was bowled by Greg Hall with the score on 11, Rana Pratrap Singh Thakur Shiv was joined by Rob Dingle but with the total on 35 Dingle became Greg Hall's second victin caught by Alister Craig for 9
Charlie Rossiter came to the wicket but lost Thakur Shiv for 38, 86-3, professional Simon Kerrigan joined Rossiter and were in a partnership of 37 when Rossiter was bowled by Greg Hall for 35, 123-4
With no addition to the score Matthew Smith fell to Greg Hall caught by Alister Craig for 0, the sixth wicket fell on 136 falling to the Hall Craig combination with Simon Kerrigan out for 32
Richard Turner and Jon Fenton took the score to 167-7 when Fenton fell caught by Mark Osborne off the bowling of Samuel Hall for 15, Turner became Greg Hall's sixth victim caught by Ashwin Hebbar for 24 with the score on 186
Fulwood & Broughton were bowled out for 192 with Samuel Hall taking the last two wickets bowling both Charlie Brookes for 13 and Usman Sadaqat for 1
Greg Hall was the pick of the Penrith bowlers with 6-48 from his 17 overs, Samuel Hall took 3-43 off 11 and Ashwin Hebbar 1-35
The Penrith reply did not start well with Matthew Smith removing both openers to leave Penrith 5-2, Nick Hodgson the first to go caught by Simon Kerrigan for 1 followed by Ashwin Hebbar caught by Charlie Rossiter for 3
The total had moved on to 29 when Smith struck again bowling Greg Cameron for 10, 29-3, Smith had not finished removing Nicky Burns caught by Jon Fenton for 18 36-4
36-4 quickly turned to 36-5 when Greg Hall was lbw to Charlie Brookes for 0, Penrith made a mini recovery with a stand of 23 between Jonathon Osborne and Alister Craig when on 59 Osborne was caught by Charlie Rossiter off the bowing of Jon Fenton for 9
Craig was the next wicket to fall caught by Rossiter off Arbab Munir for 25, 68-7, Penrith were now stuggling to save the game and on 98 Samuel Hall was bowled by Usman Sadaqat for 19
Sadaqat struck again with the score on 114 taking the nineth wicket that of Eddie Robson lbw for 9, their first victory in the Northern Premier League came two runs later when Mark Osborne was bowled by Arab Munir for 15 off 61 balls
Garstang v St Annes
St Annes won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and invited the host's to bat
Garstang made 186-7 in their 50 overs with Michael Walling top scoring with 40 with contributions from Matthew Crowther 39no and 21 from Mark Walling
Amar Ullah was the pick of the St Annes bowlers with 3-41 off 14 overs
The St Annes reply was steady with Nathan Armstrong 20, Henry Higson 13 and Jamar Ifill 16, Mohamed Nadeem and Amar Ullah put St Annes in a strong positon, Nadeem was out for 52
Muhammad Imran- Sadiq joined Ullah and they saw the visitors home in 41 overs closing on 190-4, Ullah 54 no and Imran-Sadiq 21no
Preston v Morecambe
Morecambe batted first at West Cliff and made 237-3 in their 50 overs with Luke Pearson making 97 and Luke Jongwe 56
Preston were bowled out in 27 overs for 61, Jamie Cassidy taking 4-23 off 8, Daniel Edwards 3-9 off 6.3 and Tommy Clough 1-26 from 11
