The Northern Cricket League Review

It was a day of surprises only Blackpool of the top four win to close the gap on Netherfield

Barrow beat Netherfield, Garstang beat St Annes and Leyland beat Chorley with Morecambe and Fulwood & Broughton winning the duels at the bottom of the table

DIVISION ONE:

Fleetwood v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at Broadwater and invited the host's to bat, they lost Damien Hutchinson for 16 caught by Joshua Boyne off Matthew Grindley's bowling

Spinner Matthew Siddall then took over taking 8-23 off 13.1 overs as Fleetwood were bowled out in 30.1 overs for 69, Joshua Boyne took the other wicket

Blackpool wasted no time in knocking off the runs taking only 14 overs to reach 70-1 with Joshua Boyne 48no

Leyland v Chorley

Leyland won the toss at the Stanning Memorial ground and decided to bat, they made 215-7 in their 50 overs, Umar Waheed top scoring with 91, supported by Andrew Makinson 42, Karl Cross 19, James Rounding 17no and Kurtis Watson 15

The Chorley bowling figures were Edwin Moulton 3-44 off 12 overs, Joe Barker 2-49 from 9, Gaurav Dhar 1-25 off 5 and James Lee 1-51 from 13

The Chorley reply got off to a bad start losing two early wickets but Gayan Maneeshan and Edwin Moulton fought back, however once they had departed Maneeshan 44 and Moulton 36 the host's were fighting to save the game

Chorley were bowled out for 141 in 48.2 overs, the wickets were shared out Andrew Makinson taking 3-18 from 11 overs, Ross Bretherton 3-27 off 9.2, Umar Waheed 3-42 from 13 and Andrew Jacques 1-24 off 9

Morecambe v Preston

Preston won the toss at Woodhill Lane and batted but could only make 79 in 29.4 overs, Ifran Patel 15 and Tousif Patel 13 the only batsmen to reach double figures,

Daniel Edwards doing the damage with 6-17 from 11.4 overs with Jamie Cassidy 3-32 off 13 and Stefan Dixon 1-12 from 2

Preston took two early wickets but Morecambe soon raced to victory making 80-3 in 22.5 overs, Luke Jongwe 28no, with Peter Deeks 18 and Ryan Pearson 16no

Netherfield v Barrow

Barrow won the toss at Parkside Road and elected to bat, the score was 8 when Robin Adams was caught by John Huck off Matt Jackson for 6

Grant Roelofsen joined Toby Mowat and they had a partnership of 137 when Grant Roelofsen was out caught behind by Lewis Edge off Matt Jacson for 87 (91 balls), 145-2

Toby Mowat quickly followed caught by John Boyle off Marc Hadwin for 51 (115 balls), 153-3, Ryan Gilmour and Greg Reynolds carried on the attack and took the total to 212 when Reynolds was bowled by Harrison Cox for 29, 212-4

The innings closed after their 50 overs with Barrow 223-4, Matt Jackson took 2-34 from 13 overs with Harrison Cox and marc Hadwin taking a wicket each

The Netherfield start mirrored that of the visitors with the score on 8 Josh Dixon was out caught by Daryl Wearing off the bowling of Toby Mowat for 2, 8-1

Ben Barrow and John Boyle moved the total on to 27 when Barrow was out lbw to Toby Mowat for 20, 27-2, Mowat struck again taking the prize wicket of John Huck lbw for 0 27-3

John Boyle and Bradley Earl began to salvage something from the bad start but with the score on 69 Earl was bowled by Greg Reynolds for 7, 69-4,

Lewis Edge joined Boyle and the took the total to 122 when Reynolds struck again having Lewis Edge caught by Ryan Gilmour for 8, 122-5, Lewis Richardson was Boyle's next partner and they had reached 147 when Richardson was bowled by Gary Collins for 16, 147-6

The league leaders were now in trouble and things got worse when Harrison Cox was bowled by Collins for 0, 153-7, the wicket that Barrow needed was next out John Boyle run out for 95 off only 105 balls, 158-8

Ryan Gilmour mopped up the tail having Marc Hadwin caught by Toby Mowat for 4, 159-9, then the same combination had Nathan Chambers out caught Mowat bowled Gilmour for 2 leaving Matt Jackson 2no

Penrith v Fulwood & Broughton

Fulwood & Broughton won the toss at Tynefield Park and asked the host's to bat, Penrith had a good start but the introduction of Jon Fenton to the attack saw a change as he had Ashwin Hebbar caught behind by Mark Smith for 26, 49-1

Henry Marshall and Nicky Burns moved the score on to 86 when Burns was trapped lbw to Fenton for 8, 86-2, the third wicket soon followed with Alsiter Craig lbw to Simon Kerrigan for 0 89-3

Henry Marshall was next out caught by Sam Berry off Simon Kerrigan for 51 (103 balls), 114-4, Greg Cameron and Greg Hall dug in and had taken the total to 132 when Camerson was caught by Matthew Smith off Jon Fenton for 27, 132-5

Fenton struck again having Nick Hodgson caught by Charlie Rossiter for 1, 145-6, Samuel Hall was next out lbw to Kerrigan for 3, 148-7, the eighth wicket fell on 161 Jonathon Osborne bowled by Richard Turner for 9

The innings closed with Chris Stockdale run out for 11 by Jon Fenton with the score 177-9, Greg Hall was 24no

For Fulwood and Broughton Jon Fenton took 4-51 from 13 overs with Simon Kerrigan 3-47 off 17 and Richard Turner 1-30 from 9

When Fulwood & Broughton replied Mark Smith fell lbw to Greg Hall for 4, 14-1, Rana Pratap Singh Thakur Shiv and Simon Kerrigan then took the score to 64 when Thakur Shiv was out caught by Ashwin Hebbar bowled Samuel Hall for 16, 64-2

Three soon became four as Samuel Hall struck again having Matthew Smith lbw for 5, 72-3, Kerrigan and Charlie Rossiter had a partnership of 40 when Rossiter was caught by Nick Hodgson off Greg Cameron for 19, 112-4

Richard Turner was next to go caught by Jonathon Osborne off Jake Marshall for 4, 124-5, Marshall struck again soon after having Simon Kerrigan caught by Jonathon Osborne for 67 off 105 balls, 129-6

The game was finely balanced but Jon Fenton and Christopher Ward edged the visitors towards victory but Ward fell bowled by Ashwin Hebbar for 15, 152-7, Jon Fenton 21no and Sam Berry 11 no saw the visitors home closing on 178-7 in the last over

For Penrith Jake Marshall took 2-20 from 5 overs, Samuel Hall 2-47 off 17, Greg Cameron 1-12 off 1 and Greg hall 1-19 from 7

St Annes v Garstang

Garstang won the toss at Vernon Road and decided to bat and were bowled out in 36.4 overs for 109 with Ian Walling top scoring with 32 and Michael Walling making 30

Amar Ullah had 4-29 off 8.4, Tom Higson 4-43 from 17 and Mohamed Nadeem 1-23 off 8

St Annes were bowled out in 42.3 for 97 with only Richard Staines with 31 and Jamar Ifill 13 reaching double figures

Coen Oosthuysen took 4-36 off 14, Travis Pieters 3-14 from 11.3 with Danny Gilbert 1-17 off 7 and Ian Walling 1-23 from 10
