The Northern Cricket League Review

The weather intervenes helping Nertherfield widen the gap at the top. Netherfield beat Preston while nearest rivals Blackpool and St Annes have their matches abandoned

Penrith beat Morecambe and Fleetwood beat Chorley on revised scores with Barrow having a winning draw at Fulwood & Broughton

DIVISION ONE:

Chorley v Fleetwood

Fleetwood won the toss at Winsor Park and invited the host's to bat, they were bowled out in 50 overs for 225

Edwin Moulton was their top scorer with 73 with contributions from Gayan Maneeshan 51, Andrew Holdsworth 30. 27 from Alexander Howarth and Stuart Naden 23

The wickets were shared by the Fleetwood bowlers Alex Ryder 2-40 from 9 overs, Neels Bergh 2-57 off 17, Damien Hutchinson 2-77 from 15 and Joe Bell 1-22 off 4 with 2 run outs

Due to rain Fleetwood were set a revised total of 203, they claimed victory with 205-7 in 38 overs thanks to Adam Sharrocks 54no and Joe Bell 26no with major contributions from Neels Bergh 39 and Declan Clerkin 37

Gaurav Dhar took 4-60 from 11 overs, Edwin Moulton 2-54 off 10 and Ian Oakes 1-38 from 6

Fulwood & Broughton v Barrow

Barrow batted first at the Highfield ground and were bowled out in 47 overs for 151, Robin Adams top scored with 39 supported by Ryan Gilmour 38 and Toby Mowat 22, Arbab Munir took 7-58 from 16 overs

In reply Fulwood & Broughton mader 62-6 in 26 overs, Rana Pratap Singh Thakur Shiv top scoring with 28, Daryl Wearing took 3-14 from 10 overs and Toby Mowat 3-26 off 11

Garstang v Blackpool

Blackpool won the toss at the Riverside Sports ground and put the host's into bat and had an early success Matthew Grindley bowling Michael Walling for 3, 3-1

Fayaz Ughradar and Michael Wellings had taken the score to 27 when Wellings was caught by Ciaran Johnson off Jovaun Van Wyngaardt for 10, 27-2

Mark Walling joined Ughradar and they had moved the total to 42 when Van Wyngaardt struck having Ughradar caught behind by Ben Howarth for 20, 42-3

Next in was Coen Oosthuysen and with Walling took the score to 88 when Andy Furniss bowled Mark Walling for 13, 88-4, Oosthuysen fell on the same score lbw to Matthew Siddall for 32, 88-5

The sixth wicket fell on 96 when Matthew Crowther was lbw to Andy Furniss for 2, three runs later and Furniss bowled Ian Walling for 6, 99-7

Mark Winstanley soon followed lbw to Matthew Siddall for 1, 100-8, Naqib Rahman had made 8 when he was trapped lbw to Matthew Siddall, 110-9,

Danny Gilbert and Travis Pieters had a last wicket stand of 30 before Gilbert was out lbw to Matthew Grindley for 20, Pieters was undefeated on 7 as Garstang were bowled out in 47.1 overs for 140

Andy Furniss took 3-10 from 7 overs, Matthew Siddall 3-25 off 8, Jovaun Van Wyngaardt 2-30 from 11 and Matthew Grindley 2-33 off 16.1 overs

Blackpool had faced only 4 overs when the rains came and the match was abandoned

Penrith v Morecambe

Morecambe won the toss at Tynfield Park and elected to bat, Lewis Smith and Gurdeep Farma had taken the score to 25 when Gurdeep was caught by Nicky Burns off Greg Hall for 13, 25-1

Luke Jongwe fell for 4 bowled by Greg Hall 35-2, Jamie Heywood and Smith steadily began to build an innings but with the total on 63 Lewis Smith was bowled by Ashwin Hebbar for 24, 63-3

Heywood soon followed caught by Henry Marshall off Greg Hall for 25, 75-4, the score moved on to 90 when the fifth wicket fell Alex Briggs caught by Henry Marshall of Ashwin Hebbar for 7

90-5 became 90-6 when Hebbar struck again bowling Reuben Orr for 0, Ryan Pearson was running out of partners and he lost Daniel Edwards for 8 bowled by Jonathon Osborne 104-7

Jamie Cassidy was run out by Alister Craig with the score on 121, 121-8, Ryan Pearson was next out caught by Nicky Burns off Greg Camerson for 30 , 121-9

The Morecambe innings had been reduced to a maximum of 40 overs and at the close they were 148-9 with Joel Derham 14 no and Louis Backhouse 13 no

Ashwin Hebbar had 3-21 from 11 overs, Greg Hall 3-56 off 17, Greg Cameron 1-11 from 3 and Jonathon Osborne 1-55 off 12

Due to the weather Penrith were set a revised total of 119 from 24 overs, they got off to a bad start losing the prize wicket of Ashwin Hebbar for 3 caught by Ryan Pearson off Luke Jongwe, 3-1

Henry Marshall and Nicky Burns dug in and had taken the score to 59 when Burns was bowled by Jamie Cassidy for 30, 59-2, Greg Cameron joined Marshall and they took the score in sight of victory when Marshall was caught and bowled by Daniel Edwards for 27, 104-3

Greg Hall was next in and he and Cameron saw the host's home with 4 balls to spare closing on 119-3, Cameron 38no and Hall 8no

Jamie Cassidy , Luke Jongwe and Daniel Edwards took a wicket

Preston v Netherfield

It was top v bottom at West Cliff, Netherfield won the toss and asked Preston to bat, they bowled out the host's in 21.1 overs for 101 with Asif Mahmood 36 and Nazan Patel 31 with Matt Jackson taking 5-28 off 9 overs

Netherfield took only 13.1 overs to secure victory on 102-1 with Lewis Edge 63no, Ben Barrow the only wicket to fall run out by Nizam Patel for 28

St Annes v Leyland

St Annes won the toss at Vernon Road and invited the visitors to bat in a reduced overs gane of 39 over each, Tom Higson struck early having Henry Thompson caught by Henry Higson for 3, 12-1

Tom Reece and Umar Waheed took the score to 42 when Waheed was caught and bowled by Tom Higson for 22, 42-2, only 1 run had been added when Amar Ullah had Ross Bretherton caught behind by Richard Staines for 0, 43-3

Tom Higson then took charge, having Tom Reece caught behind by Richard Staines for 22, 47-4, on 66 he trapped Kurtis Watson lbw for 9 66-5, Amar Ullah took the next wicket bowling Andrew Makinson for 13, 70-6

Higson struck again having James Rounding caught by Andy Drake for 6, 77-7, the Higson/Staines combination was responsible for the next two wickets, Ian Farrington caught by Staines for 5, 83-8 and Jake Peake stumped by Staines for 11 92-9

The Leyland innings closed in the 39th over on 113 when Amar Ullah bowled Alex Willams for 14 with Will Jacques 5no

Tom Higson had figures of 7-43 off 17 overs with Amar Ullah 3-45 off 12.1

The rains came in the tea interval and the match was abandoned
