Lancaster v Chorley

Report courtesy of The Lancaster Guardian

Lancaster's match with Chorley at Lune Road was abandoned due to the rain on Saturday, as both teams had to settle for five points each.

Lancaster captain Charlie Swarbrick won the toss and elected to field first, the visitors finishing on 96 all out in 32.2 overs.

Edwin Moulton 15 and Jack Bentham opened for Chorley, the latter failing to score a single run after being caught by Reuben Orr off Kasun Madushanka's bowling.

Orr was in the thick of most of the early action as he also caught Moulton off the bowling of Liam Moffat, and the same combination struck again when Chorley's leading run scorer on the day Gayan Maneeshan was dismissed for 39.

Moffat was in fine form with the ball and bowled Will Moulton 0.

He then made his mark in the field as well, catching Alexander Howarth 0 as Ben Simm got in on the act with his only wicket of the day.

Chorley captain, Kyle Dixon tried to increase the run rate but he soon fell to Madusanka, Heywood catching him out.

Moffat's day got even better when he bowled Harry Barclay, the Chorley man another batsman who was unable to get off the mark and get on the scoreboard.

Kieran Moffat also got himself a wicket, Andy Flear 17 falling when Madusanka took a nice catch to leave the visitors up against it.

Chorley's tail end were soon mopped up, Ian Oakes 0 was bowled by Madusanka, while Chris Harty managed just one run before being bowled by Kieran Moffat as his side were all out for 96, leaving Lancaster a very good target to chase.

However, the Lune Road side managed just 18.3 overs before the rain struck.

Heywood 6 was out LBW to Edwin Moulton, Joseph Hills 0 was bowled, again by Moulton, Swarbrick 2 was caught and bowled by Lee and Kieran Moffat was caught and bowled by Will Moulton leaving them on 41-4 as the game was abandoned.

Morecambe v Kendal

The bottom of the table clash between Morecambe and Kendal was abandoned due to rain.

The Auld Greys who batted first collapsed from 46-0 to 134 all out, after Jamie Cassidy returned figures of 5-41.

However Kendal had Morecambe under some pressure in their innings when Jason Dawes picked up the wicket of Mark Woodhead before two rain delays saw the game called off with Morecambe on 21-1.

Kendal made a positive start after Zachary McCaskie and Ryan Shepherd put on a first wicket stand of 46.

Both openers looked in good touch as Kendal played with confidence however the hosts soon gained the initiative after Edward Read bowled Shepherd for 19 off 44 balls.

Once the first wicket fell Kendal struggled onto 50-4 as Cassidy picked up the wicket of Dawes who was caught behind by Damian Gudgeon, while Ashan Priyanjan removed McCaskie and Kendal captain Chris Miller. McCaskie, who fell for 28 off 47 balls, picked out Adam Derham, while Miller was bowled by the Sri Lankan club professional.

Ben Phillips and Lachlan Stewart offered some resistance with a fifth wicket stand of 23, as Kendal recovered onto 74.

However two quick wickets saw Kendal under further pressure on 74-6 when Stewart was stumped by Gudgeon off the bowling of Prijanjan, while Phillips was trapped LBW by Cassidy.

Paul Dodds and Saeed Bariwala battled back with a steady seventh wicket stand of 31 before Dodds picked out Ryan Pearson off Prijanjan's delivery.

Kendal from that point struggled as Cassidy bowled Bariwala and dismissed Richard Dakin.

Toby Tyson and Edward Price battled bravely before Cassidy dismissed Tyson for five as Kendal were all out for 134 off 48.5 overs.

In reply Morecambe made a slow start as Kendal bowled well before both sides went off for rain.

Once the rain had relented, the game resumed and Dawes claimed the wicket of Mark Woodhead who was caught by McCaskie. More rain fall saw the game called off with the game evenly poised.
