DIVISION ONE:
Fleetwood v Penrith - Broadwater
Fleetwood catapulted themselves to top of the Northern Premier League as they comprehensively beat Penrith on a pleasant day at Broadwater.
After winning the toss and electing to bat the Fleetwood top order made steady progress as the top four batsmen each recorded scores in excess of 30.
Penrith captain Kris McLean was on the wrong end of some powerful hitting as his 12 deliveries went for 30 runs. Penrith eventually managed to regain some control as the ever reliable Paul Hindmarch 3-61 and Michael Hay 3-53 picked up wickets, however Fleetwood still made good on their start as they posted 219-8 at the 50 over mark.
Faced with a considerable target the Tynefield Park outfit did not make a good start as Travis Dean removed the two openers for a combined total of four runs, he also removed the dangerous Michael Hay
This brought together Chris Marrow 40 and Paul Hindmarch 53, they began to rebuild the innings and were making good progress until Adam Parker bowled Marrow and Mike Clinning (3-31 removed Hindmarch, it was then left to Clinning and Patrick Ashton 3-57 to clean up the Penrith tail leaving the Eden Valley side at the bottom of the table as they head into a bank holiday double header.
Lancaster v Darwen - Lune Road
Lancaster returned to winning ways as they came out on top in a close encounter against Darwen at Lune Road.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl Ben Simm's side got off to a fantastic start as Liam Moffat 2-12 bowled John Painter and Iain Perrieman had David Bowden caught at the wicket.
John Cordindley 23 was the only Darwen batsmen to offer any resistance as the Lancaster attack picked up wickets at regular intervals with Ben Simm 3-27 and Charlie Swarbrick 3-17 both collecting three wickets as Darwen were bowled out for 93 in the 41st over.
What should have been a relatively straightforward task for Lancaster was made all the more difficult as Chris Wade 3-13 and John Cordingley 4-20 began to make their way through the Lancaster batsmen at quite a rate, fortunately for the Lune Valley side Charlie Swarbrick 40 batted watchfully to score a good portion of the required runs.
It was left to Lee Sparks and Iain Perrieman to marshal Lancaster home leaving them only 10 points behind second placed Barrow in the Northern League table.
Leyland v Barrow - Fox Lane
Barrow pulled off a stunning coup as they trounced Leyland in a low scoring encounter at Fox Lane.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Barrow made stoic progress as Kaustubh Pawar 24 picked up where he left off last week, but it was not to be for the Indian as he was caught and bowled by Karl Cross who collected three for 27 from 17 miserly overs as he prevented the Barrow batsmen from scoring at any great rate.
Michael Wellings 27 and Javed Khan 25 provided some impetus for the middle and lower order as they all chipped in with valuable runs to leave the Cumbrian side 133 all out in the 40th over.
Leyland would certainly have been confident in their ability to score the required runs but the opening pairing of Javed Khan 2-29 and Daryl Wearing 4-34 were soon making inroads into the strong Leyland batting line up.
Javed Khan removed Richardt Frenz for 5 the task became somewhat more achievable and wickets continued to fall at an alarming rate of knots.
Stand-in skipper Chris Parkinson (51) could do little but watch from the other end as wickets toppled around him and the same fate soon befell the opener as he was bowled by Greg Reynolds 3-3 leaving the Leyland tail exposed and ensuring that Barrow could claim victory in the 36th over to propel themselves to second in the table.
Netherfield v Chorley - Parkside Road
Netherfield picked up 15 points in a comfortable victory for the Cumbrian side as they beat Chorley at Parkside Road.
Ben Barrow won the toss and had little hesitation in asking Ian Dickinson's men to bat and they were soon amongst the wickets as Andrew Holdsworth 7 was bowled by Mark Clarkson 1-30'
This brought Ian Dickinson 35 to the crease, both he and Stuart Naden 49 batted attentively to put on 81 for the 2nd wicket.
Unfortunately for Chorley, Dickinson was removed by Tom Bruce 3-20 and a further wicket fell on 99 as Naden was removed by the perennial Marc Hadwin 4-25 and this sparked something of a collapse for the Windsor Park outfit as three wickets, including that of Wihan Lubbe then fell with the scoreboard showing 108.
Luckily the tail end pairing of Ed Moulton 14 and James Lee 18 batted vigilantly to add a valuable 29 runs for the 10th wicket taking Chorley to 149 all out in the 50th over.
The Cumbrian response got off to a steady start as the openers Ben Barrow 14 and Nathan Dixon 35 added 27 for the first wicket before Keiran McCullagh 1-33 removed Barrow, fresh from a century against Morecambe, Ben Phillips could not continue his form as he was caught off the bowling of James Lee 1-12.
This brought the flamboyant Tom Bruce 53no to the crease and he did not waste any time in dealing with the task at hand as he and Bradley Earl 32 put on a rapid 64 for the sixth wicket.
Perhaps fittingly it was left to Bruce and his compatriot Dan Ingham to claim a four wicket victory for Netherfield in the 36th over.
Preston v Kendal - West Cliff
Kendal came out on top at West Cliff as they picked up their first 15 point haul of the season against Preston.
Preston captain Sajid Patel won the toss and elected to field but his decision was not wholly rewarded as, despite two early scalps from Andrew Starkie 3-44, Shane Hyland 47 and Syed Ali 42 batted carefully to give Kendal a reasonable base from which to build.
Wesley Fernando 33 offered some further support with the bat before Preston managed to pick up a few late wickets to restrict Kendal to 166-8 in the 44th Over.
In reply the Ribble Valley outfit never really got going as wickets fell at regular intervals thanks to some tight bowling from Chris Miller 4-21 and Adnan Ghaus 2-47, the only real defiance came from Lukman Vahaluwala 29 and skipper Sajid Patel 28 as they attempted to keep Preston in the game.
After Vahaluwala was removed by Fernando 2-29 the innings began to falter and the West Cliff side were eventually all out in the 44th over to give Kendal their first victory of the season.
St Annes v Morecambe - Vernon Road
Morecambe staved off the St Annes attack as they fought tooth and nail to ensure that St Annes could not claim victory as the sun set on the Fylde Coast.
In a 31 over game which started at 16:10 Morecambe won the toss and elected to field, this was a decision which was rewarded as wickets fell with regularity, however this did not prevent the batsmen from scoring as the Vernon Road top order all chipped in with valuable knocks to take St Annes to a respectable total of 128-7 from their 31 overs.
Morecambe faced a tough task in the ever diminishing light and it was made even more difficult as Shadley Van Schalkwyk 3-23 tore through their top order to leave Morecambe's innings in tatters
Tom Higson also began to apply pressure as he spun his way to his first five wicket haul for St Annes since he joined from Palace Shield side Thornton Cleveleys.
However, the Woodhill Lane outfit did not give up without a fight and Matthew Derham 24 batted admirably to keep the reigning champions in the game, when the 9th wicket fell, the scoreboard read 64-9
With 7 overs remaining and Morecambe were very much up against it but Jake Smith 10) and Jamie Cassidy 16 rebuffed the St Annes bowlers with composure to ensure that they could not claim the crucial tenth wicket leaving Morecambe 90-9 in as time was called.

Division Two
Division 2 Round Up:
Neither Chorley nor Netherfield could take advantage of Blackpool's weekend off as persistent rain ensured that their fixture could not go ahead and they had to settle for five points apiece leaving them in 4th and 2nd place respectively.
Meanwhile each of the remaining fixtures went ahead and Leyland put in a comprehensive performance to beat Barrow at Fox Lane.
After being asked to bat Leyland were in a spot of bother as both openers were removed early in the piece, this brought Richard Everett 32 and James Rounding together and they began to make some headway as the Barrow attack were made to work hard.
Everett was eventually dismissed and this lead to a collapse of sorts as Sam Henderson 4-42 made short work of the Leyland middle order, Rounding was not for moving however and he brought up a richly deserved century to finish 102no at the 45 over mark.
Faced with an uphill task Barrow encountered a further setback as Steve Pallet 3-9 nipped out both openers before they had chance to trouble the scorers, Elliot Boardman 3-14 also took early wickets to leave Barrow in dire straits.
There was something of a fightback as Ian Allington 27 and Robin Adams 27 showed the value of experience as they managed to keep the Leyland bowlers at arm's length, however the Barrow innings soon faded after they were removed, leaving the Cumbrian side 95 all out in the 43rd over.
Darwen and Lancaster were involved in a thrilling game at Birch Hall, owing to the aforementioned rain, the game was shortened to 22 overs per side and Lancaster managed to post a reasonable total of 117-6 from their allocation.
This was thanks in part to wicketkeeper Lee Marshall who accumulated 56 at the top of the order, he was ably assisted by the evergreen Danny Welbourne who hit 37 to give Lancaster something to bowl at.
The Birch Hall outfit started positively enough as openers Zac Whalley 18 and Scott Jackson 11 kept the scoreboard ticking over, they were assisted by Andrew Brown 20 and Reece Willets 10 as Darwen had the finish line in sight.
However, some accurate bowling from Elliot Mason 3-46 kept Lancaster in it and it was left to Gary Jackson 27 to hit six from the final delivery of the day to tie the scores and ensure Lancaster had to settle for a winning draw.
Preston picked up their second win of the season as they beat Kendal at Shap Road.
The West Cliff outfit won the toss and elected to bat. Whilst wickets fell at regular intervals, the Preston batsmen did manage to pick up runs with regularity and crucially they managed to bat 45 overs allowing them to maximise their total as they made 141-9 from their allocation.
The pick of the bowlers for the Cumbrian side was debutant Ethan Ellwood who collected 4-26 from his seven overs.
The Preston bowlers soon made inroads and Kendal were in trouble as the top order fell foul of some excellent bowling from the opening pairing of Hamza Ahmed 4-34 and Akmal Shah 3-27, despite some watchful batting from the tail Kendal could not withstand the West Cliff attack and they were eventually bowled out for 72 in the 27th over.
St Annes travelled to Woodhill Lane to face a Morecambe side that have had a tough start to the season.
The Fylde Coast side were asked to bat and they wasted little time as Geeth Malinda 40 and Alex Bradley 30 got them off to a fantastic start.
The runs continued to flow as each of the top order batsmen contributed to the cause, there was a late flurry of wickets as the St Annes batsmen looked to attack, Morecambe bowler Charlie Wilkinson benefited as he picked up three for 25 from six overs. St Annes finished up on 184-8 from their allocation.
The Vernon Road attack was soon into its stride as the Morecambe top three were dismissed for a total of 28 runs, this brought Gulam Maje 53 to the crease and he was the only Morecambe player to offer any real resistance and this was ended as Max Livesey 4-35 had him caught by Josh Taylor, this left the tail exposed and allowed St Annes to bowl Morecambe out for 129 in the 42nd over.
Fleetwood made the trip to the Eden Valley to face a Penrith side that has had a decent start to the season, and this continued as Penrith won the toss and elected to bat.
They got off to a fine start as Mark Osborne 47 and number three Samuel Hall 57 batted attentively to build a solid foundation for the Cumbrian outfit.
This paid off as number 5 Kieron Trevaskis batted magnificently in hitting 36 from 15 balls in an innings which contained four sixes and two fours as he and the lower order guided Penrith to 207-9 in 45 overs.
Jack Wilkinson 3-62 and skipper Jonathan Amor 3-37 were the pick of the bowlers for the Broadwater side.
After the break Penrith struck early as they collected the crucial wicket of Paul Willis with only 10 runs on the board, this left Wayne Clarke 35 and Joe Davis 24 to recover the innings and they were going well until Clarke was dismissed by Dan Morland 3-35.
Wickets then began to fall at regular intervals and it was left to Sam Wakefield 20no and Will Reader 31no to limit the damage to a losing draw for Fleetwood as they finished 160-7 in the 45th Over.
