The Northern Cricket League Review for 17th September 2016

DIVISION ONE:

Blackpool v Leyland - Stanley Park

This was winner takes all match as the top two fought it out on the last day oot the season for the championship

Blackpool won the toss and decided to bat first.

The innings never got off the ground as they were bowled out for 63 in 35.4 overs only Tom Jefferson 17 and Andy Furniss 12 in double figures.

The Leyland wicket takers were Brett Pelser 4-22 off 17 overs, Karl Cross 3-18 off 8, David Makinson 2-15 off 7 and Ross Bretherton 1-5 off 3.4

Leyland took only 15.5 overs to make 65-3, Chris Parkinson 26 laying down the foundation for victory with Henry Thompson 19no and Brett Pelser 13no saw them home and the 1st Division Championship

Daryl Mictchell took 3-25 off 8 overs

Chorley v Morecambe - Windsor Park

Morecambe were put into bat and made 183-5 in their 50 overs with Saeed Anwar Jnr top scoring with 66 supported by Ryan Pearson 46

Chorley won the match on the last ball of the game making 187-6 with Edwin Moulton 53 and Will Moulton 36 giving them a foundation for Andrew Holdswoth 54no claim the victory

Fleetwood v Lancaster - Broadwater

Lancaster were asked to bat first and made 129 in 45.5 over with Lawrie Atkinson making 56, Paris Pervaiz 27 and Dakshina De Silva 21

Lancaster fell to the spin attack of Patrick Ashton 5-44 and Michael Clinning 4-3

Fleetwood knocked off the runs 130-4 in 35.3 overs thanks to an unbeaten 60 from Paul Willis

The 5 wicket haul by Patrick Ashtom meant that he became the Division 1 leading wickt taker with 56

Kendal v Darwen - Shap Road

In their last ever match in the Northern Premier League Darwen put Kendal into bat and bowled them out for 101 with Ben Phillips top scoring with 47

The Darwen wicket takers were Reece Davies 3-26, John Cordingley 2-11 and David Bowden 2-39 off 17 overs

Darwen took only 26.1 overs to knock off the required runs 102-3 with Scott Friend 43no and John Cordingley made 31

Penrith v Barrow - Tynefield Park

Barrow won the toss and chose to bat making 119 in 47.3 overs with 4 players in the twenties. Robin Adams 23, Dean Wiiliams 22, Daryl Wearing 21 and Toby Mowat 20

Paul Hindmarch 6-34 off 16 overs doing the damage supported by Kriss McCLean 2-7 with Michael Hay and Nicky Burns taking 1 wicket

In reply Penrith struggled but thanks to 63 from James Price reached their target 120-6 in 20.4 overs

Daryl Wearing 3-39 off 14 and Greg Reynolds 3-21 off 6 took the wickets for Barrow

Preston v St Annes - West Cliff

Preston won the toss and elected to bat making 126 all out in 50overs. Mustafa Mursaleen 50 top scored with Sajid Patel 35 and Jibran Khsn 21

Tom Higson bowling 16 overs took 5-34 with Mitchell Bolus taking 4-36 off 14 and Matthew Grindley 1-24 off 9

The St Annes reply fell just 13 runs short as tyey were all out for 113 in 39.4 overs. Tom Higson scoring 22, Gurman Bains 19, Luke Wilks 18 and Henry Higson 18

The Preston wicket takers were Lukman Vahaluwala 4-38 off 14 overs, Andrew Starkie 3-12 off 10.4 with Afzal Kapadia, Rizwan Ali and Jibran Khan taking 1 each

Division Two

Division 2 Round Up:

Barrow v Penrith

Barrow were put into bat and were bowled out for 90 in 43.2 overs with Matthew Wall top scoring with 18

Richard Errington did the damage taking 6-27 off 11.2 overs

Barrow made Penrith work for their victory taking 9 wickets as Penrith crossed the winning line of 91 in the 30th over

Penrith can thank Kieron Trevaskis his 37no ensuring the win.

The valiant Barrow bowlers were Sam Henderson 5-29 off 11, Paul Riley 3-23 off 10.5 and Ciaran Dawes 1-6

Darwen v Kendal

Kendal decided to bat first and were all out for 70 in 29.2 overs with Finlay Richardson making 21 and Paul Fearnyough 20

Christain Davies was Darwens leading wicket taker with 4-5 off 9 overs supported by Matthew Crompton 3-10 off 7, Greg Lawrenson 2-20 off 7 and Nathan Jackson 1-0 off 2 balls

Darwen knocked off the runs 73-2 in 25 overs, Ben Hall 20 and Michael Horsfield 22no with Nathan Jacksin 11no seeing Darwen home

Lancaster v Fleetwood

Lancaster conceded the match as they were unable to raisr a side.

Leyland v Blackpool

Like Division 1 this was a match were the winner would be Division 2 champions

Blackpool invited Leyland to bat and they made a good start with an opening partnership of 75 when Tom Reece was out for 42.

Hamza Khan soon followed for 37 and with Dale Vardy 24 and Ian Farrington 20 Leylnad were 153-8 in their 45 overs

Sam Owen lead the Blackpool bowlers with4-27 off 12 overs with Chris Bains 3-45 off 10

Blackpool had to go for the win and were bowled out for 86 in35.2 overs with Stuary Ashford scoing 28 and Chris Bains 18no

Steven Pallett 4-9 off 11 overs and Andrew Jacques 4-20 off 11 broke the Blackpool innings with Elliot Boardman and Michael Birchall taing a wicket each

The win gave Leyland the Championship of Division2

Morecambe v Chorley

Morecmbe invited Chorley to bat first and bowled them out for 134 in 43.3 overs. William Harvey top scored with 43 and there was a late flurry from Chris Harty 30 and James Lee 21

The wickets were spread amongst the Morecambe bowlers Uzair Shah 3-23, Joel Derham 3-29 Lloyd Smith 2-28 and Tommy Clough 1-29

Morecambe had to work hard for their victory, Opener Luke Pearson made 18 then there was a collapse but no6 Lloyd Smith 30 and no7 Andy Bird 43 swung the game into Morecambe's favour with Tommy Clough 7no and Liam Pemberton 0no seeing them home

St Annes v Preston

Preston were put into bat and made 189-5 off their 45 overs, Opener Moshin Patel 67no was their top scorer aided by Mohammed Ilyas 38, Mahmud Akhtar 30 Syed Abbas Shah 20 and Akmal Shah 25no

Richard Thomas was St Annes best bowler with 3-20 off 12 overs

St Annes took on the challenge with openers Paul Williams 54 and Alex Bradley 63 giving St Annes a great foundation

Josh Taylor 20 with Andy Drake 20no and David Bartholomew 21no could only manage the same score as Preston as St Annes finiished on 189-5 to give Preston the winnig draw

The Preston wicket takers were Mustaq Tailor 3-35 and Abdullah Kadva 2-53
