DIVISION ONE:
Barrow v St Annes - Ernest Pass Memorial Ground
Barrow maintained pace with the group of frontrunners which are emerging at the top of the Northern League table after claiming a comfortable victory over St Annes at Ernest Pass.
Batting first the Cumbrian side made a steady start as Kaustubh Pawar 22 and Toby Mowat 71 batted with composure at the top of the order.
However, when the first wicket arrived courtesy of Shadley Van Schalkwyk 4-40 the complexion of the game soon changed as Barrow lost three quick wickets, leaving Dean Williams 29no with the unenviable task of steadying the ship in the face of some accurate bowling from the St Annes attack.
After Tom Higson 3-34 removed Mowat for a well-made 71 the Barrow innings began to fizzle out and they were eventually dismissed for 151 in 47 overs.
In response the St Annes batsmen didn't find life easy as Daryl Wearing 5-27 and Javed Khan 3-32 tore through the top order as each of the top five batsmen failed to make double figures.
With such a start it was always going to be an uphill task and despite the best efforts of Tom 25 and Henry Higson 29, St Annes eventually capitulated in the 34th over as they were all out for 107 leaving Barrow with a well-earned 15 points.
Chorley v Fleetwood - Windsor Park
Fleetwood kept themselves at the head of the chasing pack as they demolished Chorley to place a major dent in any title aspirations that the Windsor Park outfit may have held.
On winning the toss and electing to bat Chorley were made to work hard under close examination from the Broadwater openers, Travis Dean and Adam Parker.
It was Dean that made the initial breakthrough as he removed both Stuart Naden and Ian Dickinson before Parker got in on the act claiming the key wicket of Chorley pro Nekoli Parris for 10.
From then on in it was something of a procession as Travis Dean 5-19) and Adam Parker 4-38 decimated the Chorley batting order as both openers bowled superb 17 over spells to reduce Chorley to 62 all out in the 35th over.
In defence of their meagre total the Windsor Park outfit started brightly as both of the aforementioned tormentors were dismissed in the opening overs, along with Wayne Clarke to give Fleetwood something of a fright.
Fortunately for Mat Clark, Dean Bell 25no and Tom Wilson 32no were on hand to steer a course to the winning post as Fleetwood reached 66-3 at the 19 over mark to claim a valuable 15 points.
Darwen v Netherfield - Birch Hall
Darwen made it three from three as the East Lancashire side enter something of a purple patch after claiming a comprehensive victory over Netherfield at Birch Hall.
After winning the toss and electing to bat the Birch Hall outfit were placed on the back foot with both openers falling cheaply as Mark Clarkson 3-56 bowled a typically accurate opening spell.
John Cordingley 31 and sub-professional Shaun Von Berg, who currently plays for Rishton in the Lancashire League, then began to rebuild and they did so with aplomb as the runs began to flow.
After stand-in skipper Cordingley fell to Joel Bibby 1-11, Dave Bowden 35 joined Von Berg and the pair continued to apply pressure as the South African made a splendid 89 before being dismissed by Dan Ingham, eventually the East Lancashire side finished 201-7 at the 50 over mark.
In defence of their total Darwen were never really in any danger as Dave Bowden spun his way through the top order to leave the Netherfield response in smithereens and claim an eye-watering 5-16 from a 15 over spell which included 9 maidens.
The only Parkside Road batsman to offer any real resistance was Ben Barrow who made 29 before he was dismissed by Von Berg who topped his batting performance with 4-25 from 8.5 overs to leave Netherfield 70 all out in the 31st over.
Kendal v Blackpool - Shap Road
Blackpool fell agonisingly short of claiming 15 points at Shap Road as they claimed the lion's share of the spoils in an important fixture for the leaders of the Northern League.
Batting first the Stanley Park outfit made a not insurmountable total of 189-7 from their allotted overs as openers Matthew Houston 35 and Ciaran Johnson 31 batted ardently under close scrutiny from LCCC seamer Tom Bailey 2-33 who coupled well with Chris Miller 3-57 and it was the latter that made the breakthrough as he removed both top order men.
This brought Daryl Mitchell to the crease and the Kiwi all-rounder made a key contribution of 50 from 68 balls as he took advantage of the foundations which were earlier laid by the openers.
Wickets fell at a steady rate throughout the innings but a number of contributions from the lower and middle order, including a sprightly 27 not out from Josh Boyne, took Blackpool above the 180 mark.
Kendal made a steady start with the bat, but this was soon undone as Chris Baines 4-24 demolished the Shap Road top order as he had both openers caught at the wicket before claiming the wicket of Ben Phillips.
A period of stability then followed as Shane Hyland 27 batted watchfully in tandem with Wesley Fernando and Tom Bailey.
However, this stability was then rocked as Dan Pile removed Hyland and Bailey as he went on to collect 3-19 and Baines returned to remove Fernando.
Led by Oliver Field 30no the Kendal tail then began the rear guard action as they attempted to resist the Blackpool attack, wickets did continue to fall but Blackpool could not claim the crucial tenth wicket as Chris Miller batted stoically to deny the Fylde coast outfit and leave them with 11 points, which sees their lead cut to 18 points at the top of the table.
Leyland v Lancaster - Fox Lane
It proved a straightforward afternoon for Leyland as they picked up 15 points at Fox Lane to stay level on points with Fleetwood at the top end of the Northern League table.
On winning the toss and electing to bowl Leyland were soon in business as Karl Cross 2-33 and Will Jacques 4-44 removed the Lune Road top three for a combined score of 14.
Their progress was then reined in somewhat as Abhimanyu Khod 17 and Kieran Moffat 19 offered some resistance to the Leyland attack.
On the introduction of Ross Bretherton 3-10 things then changed as the seamer removed both of the aforementioned players and Rajat Agarwal 11 to pave the way for the return of then opening bowlers,
Cross and Jacques responded in kind as they removed the lower order to leave the Lune Road outfit 101 all out in the 41st over.
The Fox Lane sides reply was typical of the way that they have gone about their batting this season as the top order dominated proceedings.
Karl Cross 26, Henry Thompson 33no and Richardt Frenz 28no were the main protagonists as Leyland got home at a canter, passing the winning post in the 27th over for the loss of only two wickets.
Morecambe v Preston - Woodhill Lane
Preston claimed their fourth victory of the season as they claimed an uncomplicated victory over Morecambe at Woodhill Lane.
Morecambe won the toss and elected to bat making steady progress as Josh Dixon and Saeed Anwar Jnr both made 25 at the top of the order.
Although, things changed when Lukman Vahaluwala 3-48 was introduced into the attack and removed both Dixon and Lewis Edge.
This brought Ryan Pearson to the crease and the middle order man made comfortably the highest score of the innings as he hit 67 to take Morecambe to 184-9 at the 50 over mark with some assistance from the lower order.
Any momentum that was carried into the second innings by Morecambe soon showed itself as both Preston openers were removed without troubling the scorers.
With the response in tatters, Lukman Vahaluwala 24 was then joined by Safrazz Khan and the pair went about restoring the innings as they scored runs freely.
When Vahaluwala fell to Anwar Jnr there was little let-up for Morecambe as Mustafa Durrani 51no hit his maiden Northern League half century in support of Khan who batted without issue in a fine knock of 97 not out which saw Preston home in the 39th over for the loss of only three wickets.

Division Two
Division 2 Round Up:
Blackpool v Kendal
In Division Two it was very much business as usual for the clubs that are in with a chance of claiming the Division Two trophy this season.
Forerunners Blackpool claimed a comfortable victory over Kendal despite being made to work hard at points throughout the game.
After being asked to bat the Stanley park outfit made a steady start as Daniel Dixon 23 and Sam Owen 40 added 37 for the first wicket.
A partnership of 61 then followed as Owen and Dan Barling 40 made unimpeded progress in the middle overs.
The former was then dismissed by Alec Carradus who went on to claim two further wickets and figures of 3-37 as the Blackpool lower order attempted to build on the platform that had been laid with the Stanley Park outfit finishing on a below par 156-6 from their 45 overs.
Kendal made a very promising start in response as they moved to 67-1 with Paul Dodds 45 and Matthew Clarke 17 batting well.
However, it all began to unravel as Sam Owen bowled with accuracy and movement to reduce Kendal to 72-5.
The Shap Road lower order attempted to battle on but their efforts proved fruitless as they were reduced to 109 all out in the 38th over.
This victory allows Blackpool to remain 20 points to the good at the top of the table.
Fleetwood v Chorley
Chorley claimed victory in a tight game at Broadwater as they chased down 169 with two balls to spare, thus furthering their advantage over Fleetwood in the table.
Having won the toss and elected to bat the Broadwater outfit made good progress as Paul Willis 44 and James Wilson 29 added 74 for the first wicket.
With the introduction of Ben Milnes came the crucial breakthrough as the left arm spinner removed both Wilson and Willis to leave Fleetwood at 84-3 as he went on to claim 4-43 from 12 overs.
Joe Davis 43 and Andy Singleton 28 then added 55 for the fifth wicket to see Fleetwood to 169-4 at the 45 over mark.
In response Chorley were soon on the back foot as Max Harper was removed by Luke Wilkinson 3-37, from then on partnerships began to develop as the top order all chipped in to keep the scoreboard moving despite some accurate bowling from Charlie Clark 3-50.
Crucially it was the partnership between Nigel Eastham 33no and William Harvey 25 which got Chorley to within sight of the winning line and skipper James Lee was on hand to finish the job as the Windsor Park outfit claimed a two wicket victory in the final over of the game.
Leyland v Lancaster
At Fox Lane, Leyland put in a fine all round performance to claim victory over a Lancaster side which only had 9 men.
Batting first Ian Farrington's side took advantage of some wayward bowling from the Lune Road attack as Hamza Khan 79 and Tom Reece 57 both hit half centuries to get the innings moving in the right direction.
Their early work was then supported by Dale Vardy 38 and Kurtis Watson 24 as the remaining top order men scored with freedom to take Leyland to 242-5 declared at the 40 over mark.
The only Lancaster bowler to make any real impact on the day was Reuben Orr who claimed 4-54 from his nine over spell.
In defence of their total Leyland were made to work hard for their wickets as the Lancaster top order batted with great care.
Kurt Heaven 2-24 and Michael Birchall 3-12 were the pick of the bowlers as Danny Welbourne 38 fought tooth and nail to keep the Leyland attack at bay.
In the end it was not to be for Lancaster as they were reduced to 104 all out with 45 overs gone.
Netherfield v Darwen
In the Kent Valley, Netherfield made short work of Darwen as they dismissed the East Lancashire side for 83 in 34.4 overs.
The Parkside Road outfit were indebted to the services of Mark 4-5 and Michael Curran 3-15 who claimed 7 wickets between them as they tore the heart out of the Darwen batting line up with only Zac Whalley 22 and Christian Davies 22 making any real impact with the willow in hand.
In response the Cumbrian side wasted little time in getting past the total as Craig Walmsley hit 44 not out with assistance from new signing Geeth Malinda 20 and Brendon Herron 15no to see Netherfield home in the 16th over for the loss of only two wickets.
These results mean that Leyland now sit on 184 points with Netherfield breathing down their necks on 182 as we head into the final two months of the season.
Preston v Morecambe
In the other game of the day Morecambe made short work of Preston at West Cliff as they bowled the home side out for 79 in the 40th over.
Lloyd Smith 4-14 and Muhammed Patel 3-21 were the pick of the bowlers as the Preston batsmen struggled to make any real impact in the face of some tight bowling from the Woodhill Lane attack.
In response Morecambe went about their business in an efficient manner as Matt and Adam Derham hit 27no and 35no respectively to see Morecambe to a 9 wicket victory in the 23rd over.
St Annes v Barrow
Barrow claimed the lion's share of the points in another high scoring game at Vernon Road as the Cumbrian side hit 192 in a fine first innings batting performance.
Matt Wall 33 and Chris D'Leny 20 forming a platform before Adam Hunter 38 and skipper Sam Henderson 59 took advantage of anything loose from the St Annes attack to see the Furness Peninsula side to 192 all out in the 44th over
Jake Higson 4-42 and Matt Yeadon 2-14 being the pick of the bowlers for the Vernon Road side.
In defence of their total Barrow made excellent progress in the early stages of the 2nd innings as Sam Henderson 2-55 and Paul Riley 3-19 bowled with precision to demolish the St Annes top order.
All looked lost before Andy Drake 66 and Nathan Bend 46 came together to begin rebuilding the innings for the Vernon Road side in what was rapidly becoming a tight finish.
38 were required for victory with four overs left and Kevin Reid 19no was on hand to take it down to the wire with a number of lusty blows reducing the deficit to two to win from the final ball, which was hit for a single leaving the game as a draw with St Annes finishing 192-8 at the 46 over mark.
