DIVISION ONE:
Barrow v Preston - Ernest Pass Memorial Ground
Barrow's pursuit of silverware has been brought to something of a halt in recent weeks but the Furness Peninsula outfit managed to gain some traction this weekend as they picked up a comfortable victory over Preston at Ernest Pass.
Batting first, the Cumbrian outfit were indebted to knocks of 33 and 40 from Kaustubh Pawar and Michael Wellings as the batsmen found life a little tough in the face of some composed bowling from Lukman Vahaluwala 4-37 and Saeed Bariwala 4-46.
Former Cumberland CCC keeper Chris D'Leny then made 28 as he marshalled the lower order to see Barrow to 151 all out in the 49th over.
In defence of their total the Cumbrian side made two early breakthroughs as Daryl Wearing 3-24 and Javed Khan 3-24 made good use of the new ball.
Preston captain Sajid Patel 18 and Lukman Vahaluwala 34 then brought some stability to the chase but after the latter was removed by Gary Collins 3-23 the Ribble Valley side soon capitulated and were reduced to 102 all out in the 30th over.
The Cumbrian side 135 now sit in fourth position, two points behind Fleetwood 137.
Chorley v Penrith - Windsor Park
Chorley maintained pace with the chasing pack as they came out victors in a thrilling game which went down to the wire at Windsor Park.
In a rain affected game which was reduced to 34 overs per side, Chorley won the toss and elected to field.
A decision which they may have regretted as Chris Marrow 13 Ret and Greg Hall 62 batted ardently to rebuff the Windsor Park attack.
The latter was eventually removed by Nekoli Parris who claimed 3-39 as the Penrith middle order attempted to up the scoring rate in the latter overs of their innings with the Tynefield Park outfit finishing 124-6 from their allocation.
Chorley were then placed on the back foot as their chase began with the Penrith opening pair of Paul Hindmarch 4-50 and Zakhele Qwabe 2-49 making early inroads, this brought Parris and Will Moulton to the crease and they set about rebuilding the innings as Moulton made 30 in good time before being removed by Qwabe.
This brought something of a collapse as Hindmarch removed Jack Bentham and Joseph Tiffin but Parris remained firm as he hit an unbeaten half century.
However, the limelight was firmly on his partner Kieran McCullagh, Chorley required two from the last delivery to win the game, something which didn't seem to daunt McCullagh as he crashed the ball over the ropes to see the Windsor Park outfit to a four wicket victory and 15 valuable points.
Darwen v Fleetwood - Birch Hall
Blackpool and Leyland were the major beneficiaries of this weekend's results as Darwen pulled off something of a coup at Birch Hall as they trounced Fleetwood to leave them 22 points off the pace in third position.
Mat Clark won the toss and elected to bat first and few would have predicted what followed as the prolific Travis Dean was removed by Shrikant Wagh before he troubled the scorers.
Darwen's position then improved dramatically as David Bowden removed Dean Bell and Patrick Ashton in quick succession before Wagh picked up the key wicket of Adam Parker 25 to leave Fleetwood in dire straits.
The Broadwater outfit were eventually routed for 52 inside 23 overs with Wagh collecting 5-22 and Bowden 3-26 as both openers went unchanged.
In defence of their meagre total Fleetwood did manage to collect two early wickets but John Cordingley 19 and Shrikant Wagh 14no were on hand to see the East Lancashire outfit to their first victory of the season as they passed the victory target with 10 overs gone.
Lancaster v St Annes - Lune Road
St Annes leapfrogged Lancaster in the Division One table thanks to a well-earned victory in the pleasant summer conditions at Lune Road.
After inviting Lancaster to bat the Vernon Road outfit made early inroads as captain Matt Grindley 3-54 removed the Lancaster openers for a combined total of 12 runs.
Charlie Swarbrick 20 and LCC professional Abhhimanyu Khod 45 then began to resurrect the innings but the dismissal of the former by Tom Higson brought a shutter of wickets as no's 5,6 and 7 were removed for nought with Higson 2-27 and Mitchell Bolus 3-25 being the beneficiaries.
An enterprising knock of 35 from Ben Simm saw Lancaster reach a respectable total of 131 all out in the 49th over.
Lancaster made a useful start to the second innings as Gurman Bains and Nanthesh Kiruparan were removed cheaply by Iain Perrieman 2-24 and Liam Moffat 3-21.
Luke Wilks was then removed by Ben Simm 3-42 to give the Lune Valley side some hope of victory.
The St Annes professional, Shadley Van Schalkwyk then combined with Richard Staines 28 to bring a modicum of stability to the St Annes response.
The pair made good progress as Van Schalkwyk 51 took the initiative away from the Lancaster attack with a well-timed half century.
However this stability soon disappeared as Liam Moffat returned to remove Staines and Tom Higson, before Van Schalkwyk was removed by Perrieman to expose the St Annes tail.
Ben Simm claimed two more victims but his efforts were not rewarded as Josh Taylor 5no and Mitchell Bolus 7no batted with composure to see St Annes to a two wicket victory in the 47th over.
Leyland v Netherfield - Fox Lane
For much of the season Leyland's raison d'etre has been to post a score and defend it using an accurate and unrelenting bowling attack, little changed this weekend as Leyland once again batted first at Fox Lane in the typically tough batting conditions which have prevailed this season.
Chris Parkinson 11 and Karl Cross 28 added 38 for the first wicket before Tom Bruce 2-27 removed both openers in quick succession to leave the Fox Lane side in a spot of bother at 41-2.
Fortunately Richardt Frenz 18 and Henry Thompson were on hand to steady the ship.
Thompson has been one of the most consistent batsmen in the league this season scoring 403 runs at an average of 40.3 and he was again watchful as he made 32 with assistance from McDonnell 16 and Andrew Makinson 19no as Leyland made 139-5 from their allocation of 44 overs.
In response Netherfield got off to a good start as Ben Barrow 18 and Nathan Dixon 16 negotiated the Leyland openers to see the Parkside Road outfit to 32-0.
Both then fell in quick succession as the Leyland change bowlers made their mark, things deteriorated further when the Cumbrian side were reduced to 39-4 as Ross Bretherton 6-24 removed the dangerous Tom Bruce and John Huck for nought and two respectively.
Netherfield wickets then continued to fall as the Leyland bowlers turned the screw to reduce run scoring opportunities to a minimum, James Park-Johnson 12 and Tom Williamson 15 attempted to steady the ship but their efforts came in vain as Makinson 4-12 removed Johnson and Ross Bretherton cleaned up the tail to claim his maiden first division five wicket haul and guide Leyland to victory by 55 runs at the end of the 39th over.
The result means that Leyland 152 remain seven points behind Blackpool 159 and now sit 15 points ahead of Fleetwood in third position.
Morecambe v Blackpool - Woodhill Lane
At Woodhill Lane, Morecambe also won the toss and elected to bat and they found life tough as the Blackpool openers bowled with precision to limit run scoring opportunities.
Saeed Anwar was the first to fall as he was caught at the wicket off the bowling of Jamie Thomson 1-14, Josh Dixon 38 and Ryan Pearson 41 began to create something of a platform for Morecambe as they batted watchfully to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Eventually Blackpool managed to make a breakthrough as Joshua Boyne 3-44 and Daniel Pile 2-52 turned the screw with Boyne removing both Dixon and Pearson before he removed Lewis Edge for 31.
A few lusty blows from the Woodhill Lane lower order saw Morecambe to 156-6 at the 50 over mark.
In defence of their total, Morecambe got off to a good start as Read 3-46 removed Houston for nothing, then in a similar vein to the first innings Ciaran Johnson 59no and Daryl Mitchell 37 began to make progress as they picked up runs at a steady rate.
Mitchell was then removed by Read which saw a mini collapse as Morecambe picked up two more quick wickets. Fortunately, Johnson remained firm at the other end as he brought up his maiden first division half century.
He was assisted in his task by Boyne who scored runs with panache as he made 42 not out in good time to see Blackpool to a six wicket victory in the 44th over.

Division Two
Division 2 Round Up:
Netherfield v Leyland
A number of significant results in Division Two sees the title race take another turn as Leyland became the first side to beat Netherfield this season with the Fox Lane outfit picking up a resounding victory at Parkside Road.
Bowling first, Leyland made early inroads as Steve Pallett 2-20 removed the dangerous Walmsley for five, Netherfield then made it to 24-1 without further damage but this soon became 29-4 as the change bowlers entered the attack.
A second rebuilding effort ensued but this could do little to stem the flow of wickets as Kurt Heaven 3-9 despatched the lower middle order to reduce Netherfield to 82 all out in 31 overs.
In response, Leyland were nothing but efficient as Tom Reece and Hamza Khan negotiated the early overs, Khan was removed with the score on 30 but this made little impact as Reece scored at a Strike rate of 100 in hitting an unbeaten 62 to see the Fox Lane outfit home in 18 overs, therefore allowing them to leapfrog Netherfield (152) and move into second place on 154 points.
Blackpool v Morecambe
With a keen eye on events at Parkside Road, Blackpool took to the field against Morecambe.
The Stanley Park outfit were asked to bat first and Morecambe soon made their mark as they reduced Blackpool to 45-4, fortunately opener Daniel Dixon remained calm as he hit a stoic 82 not out in stands of 77 with Stuart Ashford 28 and 48 with Ben Heath 28no to see Blackpool to 169-5 at the 45 over mark.
In defence of their total, Blackpool made good early going as they claimed two early wickets but Michael Fisher 41 and Uzair Shah 21 had other ideas as they batted watchfully to keep the Woodhill Lane outfit in with a shout.
However, the outlook began to change rapidly when Sam Owen introduced himself into the attack as the medium pacer claimed 6-34 to leave Morecambe teetering at 102-9.
The tail remained resolute to see Morecambe to the relative safety of a losing draw as the Woodhill Lane outfit finished 110-9 at the close, leaving Blackpool as the only unbeaten team in the league with a 20 point advantage at the top of Division Two.
Fleetwood v Darwen
It turned out to be chastening weekend for Fleetwood on both fronts as Darwen showed great tenacity to beat the Fylde Coast outfit in a low scoring encounter at Broadwater.
Greg Lawrenson won the toss and showed no hesitation as he asked Fleetwood to bat and the Broadwater outfit made a steady start before they were reduced to 27-2 with Andrew Cook 3-34 claiming the prized wicket of Wayne Clarke for just one.
The introduction of Lawrenson saw a further improvement for Darwen as Fleetwood slumped from 46-2 to 47-6 leaving their innings in tatters, although, something of a resurgence occurred as the lower order managed to get Fleetwood over the 100 mark as they finished 102 all out in the 41st over.
After reducing Darwen to 3-4, Fleetwood may have felt that 102 would be more than enough, however, they hadn't counted on the restorative powers of Mark Bennett 33 and Gary Jackson 21no who got the Darwen response moving in the right direction.
Contributions of 10 and 21 from Ben Hall and Greg Lawrenson got them within sight of the winning post and Andrew Cook 10no was on hand to see Darwen to a miraculous victory as they moved to 104-7 in the 48th over.
Penrith v Chorley
Chorley were the major beneficiaries of Fleetwood's demise as they consolidated their position in the table with a comfortable victory at the northern most outpost of the league, Tynefield Park.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl the Windsor Park outfit made early inroads as Penrith were reduced to 17-3 with James Lee 4-11) claiming two early wickets.
Jamie O'Brien 20 set about recovering the innings but his efforts proved futile as wickets continued to fall around him, Lee was then on hand to clean up the tail as Penrith were 72 all out in the 33rd over.
In response Chorley batted watchfully as Penrith caused concern for the Windsor Park outfit as they claimed a number of early wickets.
When Ben Milnes arrived at the crease the tempo changed somewhat as the number five hit 21 from 17 deliveries to see Chorley home in the 26th over.
The Windsor Park outfit now sit in fourth position, 21 points ahead of Fleetwood and four behind Netherfield.
St Annes v Lancaster
In the other fixtures of the day St Annes closed the gap on Fleetwood to just one point as they made short work of Lancaster at Vernon Road.
Bowling first the Fylde Coast side were soon into their stride as Matthew Yeadon 3-17 and Max Livesey 3-27 made life difficult for the Lancaster batsmen, there was some resistance from the Lune Road outfit with a number of batsmen making between 15 and 23 but it was not enough as they were reduced to 101 all out in the 33rd over.
In response St Annes wasted little time as Geeth Malinda Kamburugamuwe 50 and Matthew Yeadon 51 made short work of the target as they scored runs with ease to see the Vernon Road outfit to a nine wicket victory in the 20th over.
Preston v Barrow
At West Cliff Barrow claimed the lion's share of the points as the scores finished level, batting first Barrow made 115-7 with Peter Deeks 25, Sam Fell 20 and Matthew Wall 33 all making starts but failing to go on.
Preston took advantage of this and picked up regular wickets with Abdullah Kadva claiming 3-14 to restrict the Cumbrian outfit to 115 in 34 overs.
In defence of their total Barrow made a fantastic start as Paul Riley 3-33 made life tough for the top order.
However, captain Syed Shah dug in to make 32 and he was supported by those around him as Preston crept ever closer to victory, however the West Cliff outfit could not cross the line as Ralph Cairns 12 was run out on the last ball of the game to leave Preston 115-7 at the close of play.
