DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Darwen - Stanley Park
Blackpool ascended to the top of the Northern Cricket League as they took full advantage of the inclement weather which swept through the northwest on Saturday morning.
When the rains relented on the Fylde Coast Blackpool were asked to bat by Mark Friend and he was soon rewarded as Shrikant Wagh 3-40 had Matthew Houston smartly caught at slip with the second ball of the day, things then improved further as Ciaran Johnson fell to David Bowden, leaving the Stanley Park outfit 9-2.
This brought LCCC Captain Steven Croft and Daryl Mitchell together and they began to rebuild the innings with some watchful batting, they added 46 before Croft 35 was caught at the wicket off Wagh, the Indian seamer then removed Twist for no score to place the Blackpool innings on a knife edge.
Fortunately for the Fylde Coast side stand-in skipper Andrew Furniss 44 and Mitchell 73 batted with great skill and determination as they added 78 for the fifth wicket to give Blackpool something of a platform.
This was built upon by a couple of enterprising knocks from Josh Boyne 32no and Tom Jefferson 17no as they scored runs with alacrity to move Blackpool to a sizeable total of 213-6 at the end of the 42nd over.
The Darwen response did not get off to the best of starts as Andy Furniss had Ammer Mirza caught at the wicket in his opening over, David Bowden 31 and John Cordingley 30 then went about rebuilding the innings as they took advantage of any loose deliveries from the Blackpool attack.
They had added 55 for the 2nd wicket when Cordingley was removed by Daryl Mitchell 2-25 as he was caught at Mid-Off, Bowden soon followed as Mitchell found his leading edge giving an easy catch to Josh Boyne at Extra Cover.
Furniss then showed little hesitation as he brought Josh Boyne 3-14 and Daniel Pile 4-22 into the attack and his decision was soon rewarded as wickets began to fall with pleasing regularity as the Darwen innings capitulated in the face of some excellent spin bowling from the young spinners who bowled with flight and guile to leave the East Lancashire side 124 all out in the 38th over.
Chorley v Kendal - Windsor Park
Match abandoned without a ball bowled.
Fleetwood v Barrow - Broadwater
Fleetwood took the lion's share of the points in a top of the table clash at Broadwater as they came perilously close to beating Barrow in the only other Division One fixture to beat the weather this weekend.
After winning the toss and electing to bat Fleetwood got off to a steady start as Adam Parker 62 struck a half century at the top of the order as wickets fell around him, he was ably assisted by Tom Wilson 41 before Patrick Ashton 28no and Adam Sharrocks 22no batted with some freedom to take Fleetwood to 194-5 at the end of the 42nd over.
In response Barrow were indebted to knocks of 97 from Kaustubh Pawar and 34 from Sam Dutton in what was otherwise barren scorecard as the Fleetwood attack bowled with persistence to take regular wickets with Travis Dean taking four for 61 from his 17 overs and Alex Ryder collecting 3-21 from 7 overs.
Although, it was not to be for the Fylde Coast side as the Barrow tail held out for a draw in the evening gloom as the Cumbrian side ended 155-9 to leave Fleetwood with 11 points which sees them move into joint second position with Leyland, 7 points behind leaders Blackpool.
Netherfield v Lancaster - Parkside Road
Match abandoned without a ball bowled.
Penrith v Morecambe - Tynefield Park
Paul Hindmarch's spectacular innings of 127 not out from 87 balls was in vain as the rains brought a premature end to the game which took place at Tynefield Park.
Earlier Penrith had won the toss and elected to bat, the Cumbrian outfit got off to a good start as they moved to 117-3 with Michael Hay 42 doing much of the damage in the early passages of the game.
When his wicket fell Hindmarch had reached 12 and he steadily accumulated runs as he brought up his 50 from 62 balls.
This brought a slight change in tempo from the former Unicorns and Cumberland CCC player when he moved to his century in a further 12 deliveries (striking which is on a par with the world record for the fastest 50) as he demolished the Morecambe bowling attack with a spectacular display of attacking batting, hitting ten sixes and ten fours to take Penrith to an imposing total of 270-5 from their allocated overs.
The rains eventually arrived as Morecambe had moved to 42-2 in the 12th over curtailing the game and leaving both sides with five points.
Preston v Leyland - West Cliff
Match abandoned without a ball bowled.

Division Two
Division 2 Round Up:
Barrow v Fleetwood
Fleetwood were the only side to take the field in Division Two as they took the majority of the points which were on offer at Ernest Pass'
After being asked to bat by Sam Henderson the Fylde Coast side did not get off to a prolific start as their top three were removed for a total of 16 runs with Sam Henderson 3-36 and Paul Riley 3-40 bowling with great accuracy and penetration to make life tough in the opening overs.
The only batsman to make any great headway was James Gregson who made a crucial 81 not out to take Fleetwood to 143 all out in the 31st Over.
The Barrow reply started poorly as they lost their opening bat, Jack Hill-Eades for a duck to Tom Clarke 4-34 before Ian Allington 22 and Lee Cosgrove 13 added some stability, both were eventually dismissed and wickets continued to fall regularly before the lower order dug in to prevent Fleetwood making up any further ground, this left the Cumbrian outfit at 71-7 in the 33rd over.
