Fleetwood stun Blackpool whilst Kendal shock Netherfield in an afternoon of surprises in the Bank Holiday Monday Northern Cricket League action
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Fleetwood
Fleetwood ended Blackpool's unbeaten start to the season with a stunning 20 run win at Stanley Park.
Mat Clark's team started off on a positive note as they raced to 49 without loss with the opening pairing of Adam Parker and Australian professional David King.
However from a comfortable start came a collapse as Adam Parker fell for 12 off 47 balls as he was caught by Ben Howarth off the bowling of Christi Viljeon,
Fleetwood continued to lose wickets as they stumbled on to 69-4, with Viljeon taking the wickets.
The visitors though dug in through Mike Clinning (27 off 49 balls) and David King as the visitors pushed on to 145, before Viljeon completed his seven wicket haul as he returned figures of 7-68.
David King batting right through the innings as he ended up unbeaten on a century as he closed on 100 off 157 balls. Fleetwood setting the hosts a target of 171-7 off 50 overs.
Blackpool got off to a flying start in their reply as they raced to 55 without loss, with both Richard Gleeson and Matthew Houston looking in good touch.
However Fleetwood finally got the break through, when Richard Gleeson was caught by Joe Bell of the bowling Adam Parker for 24 off 62 balls.
From that point on further wickets fell as Blackpool were whittled down to 85-7, and despite a fightback through Michael Penneys 31 off 30 balls and Jake Muncasters 20 off 21, Blackpool fell by 20 runs.
The hosts all out for 151 in 44.4 overs, Ian Holland coming into the attack as he returned figures of 4-59. Adam Parker bowling well with figures of 3-46 and David King with figures of 2-40.
Morecambe v Lancaster
Morecambe won the derby with Lancaster by 7 runs at Woodhill Lane. The hosts battling to 160-9. Eddie Read the main stay with an unbeaten 67. Lancaster's Liam Moffatt returning figures of 4-29 and Iain Perrieman 3-70.
In reply, Lancaster fell just short on 153 in 48 overs, Rameez Raja lead the chase for victory with 56. but Suraj Randiv 4-67 and Tommy Clough 3-15 saw Morecambe home
Morecambe completed a good weekend with two 15 point victories and go top of the Division.
Netherfield v Kendal
Kendal finally got one over Netherfield as they defeated them by 1 wicket in a thriller at Parkside Road.
Netherfield winning the toss opted to bat, however Kendal bowled well especially in the early exchanges as they had the hosts toiling on 65-4. Professional Dieter Klein battled for a score of 45 off 41 balls.supported by Brad Earl 44 off 51 balls.
The hosts let loose near the end with Nathan Chambers 24 off 23 balls and Ryan Wilson hitting a quick fire 11 off 9 balls leaving .Netherfield all out for 172 in 38.3 overs.
JP Devilliers put in a fantastic performance with figures of 5-45 assisted by Saeed Bariwala returning figures of 3-60.
Kendal dug deep in their reply losing 4 wickets for 82 runs, with JP Devilliers scoring 30 off 31 balls.
The visitors kept the scoreboard ticking over before suffering a collapse where they went from 122-5 to 141-9. Shane Hyland scoring a crucial 20 runs in that spell.
Kendal looked down and out on 141-9, however Netherfield were left stunned as the last two in captain Chris Miller and former captain Stu Parkin guided Kendal over the line with 173 – 9 in 51.1 overs.
Miller and Parkin had a partnership of 33 runs. Chris Miller unbeaten on 24. And hit the winning runs leading to wild celebrations in the Kendal camp.
Mark Clarkson bowled well with figures of 6-44.
Penrith v Barrow
Penrith saw off Barrow by 7 wickets at Tynefield Park. Barrow struggled batting first and were all out for 135 in 44.4 overs. Tharanga Paranavitana top scored with 44 off 48 balls. With Liam Trevaskis 5-65 and Jake Fawcett taking 4-47 doing the damage for Penrith.
In reply Penrith eased home with 140 – 3 in 34.3 overs, Sub Professional Jake Fawcett guiding his team with an unbeaten 58 off 57 balls. Fawcett was well supported by an unbeaten 23 from Alex Atkinson as well as the earlier knock of 34 by Ryan Carruthers.
Preston v Leyland
Leyland defeated Preston by 9 wickets in a short game at West Cliff, Preston were all out for 88 in 39.5 overs. Karl Cross with figures of 4-25, Will Jacques 3-46 and David Makinson 3-6 taking the wickets
The visitors knocked off the runs off scoring 89 - 1 in 17 overs, Chris Parkinson with 54 off 42 balls, w Ross Bretherton finishing it off with an unbeaten 22 off 49 balls.
St Annes v Chorley
Chorley's good run continued as they defeated a struggling St Annes by 3 wickets. Chorley innings was anchored superbly by opener Dave Fisher who crafted 85 from 155 deliveries with 5 fours and 3 sixes.
The Chorley batsmen played well around him. most notably Jack Bentham with 32 not out from 36 deliveries. Chorley closed on 204-7 in their 50 overs
In reply, St. Annes pro Xander Pitchers made an undefeated 67 but was the only home batsman to show any meaningful fight.
Brenton Mcdonald went through the hosts with figures of 6-34, whilst Edwin Moulton weighed in with figures of 3-22. bowling St Annes out for 130 in 39.5 overs.

Netherfield remain top whilst Leyland close in
Barrow v Penrith
Barrow defeated Penrith by 76 runs, The hosts closing on 201-6 with Peter Deeks unbeaten on 98 supported by Sam Fell with 48. Dan Morland returning figures of 3-39 for Penrith.
Penrith were all out in reply for 125 in 38.4 overs due to the efforts of Joe Stamper top scoring with 58. Patrick Allington with figures of 5-35 was Barrow's best bowler.
Chorley v St Annes
Chorley got a winning draw with St Annes at Windsor Park, Chorley closing on 157-8, Alex Weetman with 32 off 53 balls top scored for Chorley and St Annes's Thomas Bradley returned figures of 3-41.
St Annes held on in reply on 136-9, Thomas Bradley with 30, The bowling of Michael Mead 4-28 and Lewis Saunders 3-34 nearly saw the host home.
Fleetwood v Blackpool
Blackpool defeated Fleetwood by 8 wickets, Fleetwood closing on 105-9, Nick Wall scoring 27 off 85 balls and Matthew Siddall was Blackpool's best bowler with 4-29.
Blackpool knocked the runs off in 31.2 overs, closing on 108-2 thanks to.Tom Jefferson with an unbeaten 42 off 68 balls.
Kendal v Netherfield
Netherfield remain top of Division Two after a 6 wicket win at Kendal. Scott Clement with figures of 5-13 restricted Kendal to 118-9.in their 45 overs Oliver Tyson with 58 off 124 balls was the host's top scorer
In reply Nathan Dixon's unbeaten 62 off 88 balls, guided the seconds home in 36,1 overs as they closed on 121-4. Toby Tyson had figures of 3-33 for Kendal.
Lancaster v Morecambe
Lancaster defeated Morecambe by 3 wickets at Lune Road, Morecambe were all out for 117 in 37.2 overs. Due to the bowling of Matthew Liver 3-32 and Daniel Chambers 3-28.
The hosts romped home in 25.5 overs as they closed on 118-7, Craig Heywood top scoring with 31. Andy Bird with 3-19 and Farood Mughal 3-31 lead the Morecambe fight back.
Leyland v Preston
Leyland were made to work hard as they saw off a resilient Preston side by 47 runs. Leyland were all out for 123 in 42.3 overs thanks to captain Ian Farrington with 42.
Syed Shajjar Shah with figures of 7-11. and Rowan Dunbabin 3-10 doing the damage for Preston.
In reply Preston were all out for 76 in 38.1 overs, Michael Birchall returning figures of 3-30
