Morecambe make it two in two

Only four games survived the rain in the Northern Cricket League on a miserable Saturday afternoon of action.

DIVISION ONE:

Chorley made light work of Preston in a ten wicket win at Windsor Park. Preston batting first were skittled out for 69 in 28.3 overs. James Lee returning figures of 5-23. Yasin Patel scoring 33 of Preston's 69 runs.

Chorley raced home in 12.4 overs as they finnished on 71-0. David Fisher scoring 39 off 44 and Andrew Holdsworth 24 off 30 balls.

Morecambe battled through the rain to defeat Penrith by 82 runs on a rain affected afternoon. Penrith were set a revised total of 168 off 32 overs.

Josh Dixon's side had posted 198-9 off 46overs. Phillip Dennison batted well for a top scoring 82 following his 65 last weekend. Paul Hindmarch the Penrith professional had figures of 4-39.

Rain swept in again with the second innings commencing again at 6.10pm and the overs reduced to 32. Penrith chasing the revised total of 168.

However a stunning spell of 6-47 by Eddie Read and 4-55 by Suraj Randiv saw Penrith's hopes of victory dashed as the host were bowled out for 116 in 28.3 overs.

Division Two

Division 2 Round Up:

Division Two saw a first win of the season for Preston as they defeated Chorley by 3 wickets, the rain coming into play with Preston set a revised target of 101 to chase in 43 overs.

Chorley batting first declared on 125-3 off 27, Max Harper with 57. Preston chasing the revised total down thanks to an unbeaten 32 by Yasin Boda and 30 runs by Mustaffa Durani. Preston reaching their target of 101-7 off 33 overs.

The final game saw defending Division Two holders Leyland who defeated Kendal by 9 wickets. Kendal were all out for 69 off 27.1 overs. Elliot Boardman returning figures of 5-8, with Steven Pallett returning figures of 3-22.

Leyland easing home in 14.1 overs as they closed on 72-1, Tom Reece with an unbeaten 46.
