Morecambe win again needing one win for Title

Morecambe are on the brink of winning the Northern Premier Cricket League title following their victory at Lancaster and there was also derby day success for Netherfield and Fleetwood in an action packed afternoon in the Northern Premier Cricket League.

DIVISION ONE:

Barrow v Penrith

Inform Penrith continued their good run following a seven wicket win at Barrow.

Penrith won the toss and put Barrow in to bat, Barrow started steadily and were 24 when Dean William was out for 14, then the batting collapsed to 38-8 only Ryan Gilmour unbeaten on 14 enabled the innings to reach 52 in 22.5 overs.

The Penrith professional Paul Hindmarch was the Barrow destroyer with the stunning figures of 8-18 from 11.5 overs.

With such a low total to chase, Penrith eased home in 9.5 overs closing on 53-3. Ryan Carruthers with 26 and Paul Hindmarch unbeaten on 18.

Chorley v St Annes

Chorley picked up a much needed win after defeating St Annes by 7 wickets in a rain affected encounter at Windsor Park.

St Annes struggled to 104 in 34.1 cvers, Nathan Armstrong 25, Geeth Kamburugamuwe 24 and Tim Le Breton 12 were the only St Annes batsmen to reach double figures.

Keiran McCullagh removed both openers and finished with 2-39, Edwin Moulton took 2-13 and James Lee finished off the St Annes innings with 5-20.

A rain delay of 105 minutes followed, as Chorley were set a revised target of 61 from 34 overs. Will Moulton with 26 and Daniel Sartori unbeaten on 25 guided the host's home with ease scoring the 62-3 in 14.2.

Fleetwood v Blackpool

Fleetwood ended Blackpool's title hopes after winning by 9 runs in a dramatic game.

Fleetwood won the toss and decided to bat. Their innings started badly and were 18-3 when a stand between Tom Wilson 22 and James Wilson 17 took the total to 50 . They were both out on this score along with Declan Clerkin. Wayne Clarke came to the crease and his 32 enabled Fleetwood to reach 96 in 44.4 overs.

The wickets were shared by the Blackpool bowlers Andy Furniss with 3-19, Joshua Boyne 3-21, Richard Gleeson 2-21 and Christi Viljoen and Declan Fisher taking a wicket.

Seemingly out of contention after being bowled out for a low score Fleetwood professional destroyed the top order and Blackpool were reduced to 31-4. Richard Gleeson and Andy Furniss lead the fight back and they took the score to 62-5 when Furniss was out for 13.

Blackpool struggled on and Gleeson was out for 24 on 83-9. Declan Fisher soon followed LBW to Adam Parker with the total on 87 in 46.5 overs.

David King returned figures of 4-30, from 20 overs and Adam Parker and Keiran Mc Gann also weighed in with 3 wickets each.

Kendal v Netherfield

Netherfield claimed the bragging rights after defeating derby rivals Kendal by 86 runs at Shap Road.

Kendal won the toss and invited Netherfield to bat and all their batsmen contributed posting 177-6. Ben Barrow 36, Rick Potter 30, Marc Brown, 33, Dieter Klein 26, 23 from Brad Earl and unbeaten 13 by Joe Atkinson all helping in Netherfield to 177-6 in their 50 overs.

Chris Miller followed up his 7 wickets from Saturday with a return of 5-83 from 20 overs.

In reply, Kendal were all out for 91 in 40.4 overs with Shane Hyland top scoring with 26. Mark Clarkson, Tom Williamson and Matt Clinton took 2 wickets each.

Lancaster v Morecambe

Morecambe are one win away from winning the Northern Premier Cricket League title following a 9 wicket win over Lancaster at Lune Road.

Lancaster won the toss and decided to bat, After a bright start with Alex Metcalfe 31 and Charlie Swarbrick 21 the Morecambe professional took charge and only Ben Simm 16 reached double figures as Lancaster were 89-9 off a rain reduced 32 Overs.

Suraj Randiv took 5-15 from 11 overs with Tommy Clough taking 3-1 from 6.

Morecambe took only 11.5 overs to reach their target of 90-1 with Gareth Pedder unbeaten on 49 and Mark Woodhead with 26.

Preston v Leyland

Leyland eased past Preston by 164 runs.

Preston put Leyland in to bat and their batsman had a run feast with Richardt Frenz posting an unbeaten 101 off 71 balls, Luis Reece 69 off 93 balls and Karl Cross with 34 with Sam Oldham 27 not out enabling Leyland to make 252-2 in 34.3 overs.

When Preston batted they were all out for 88 in 30 Overs, Only Gurman Bains with 36 made any impression. Karl Cross took four Preston wickets for no runs and finished with figures of 5-15.

Division Two

Division 2 Round Up:

Netherfield, Leyland and St Annes continue to do battle for the Division Two Title.

Blackpool v Fleetwood

Blackpool defeated Fleetwood by 159 runs.

Fleetwood invited Blackpool to bat and on 36-2 Sam Owen joined Tom Myerscough and they had a partnership of 95 when Myerscough was out for 59. Jake Muncaster replaced Myerscough and he and Sam Owen with a partnership of 95 took the score to 208-4, Owen out for 65.

Stuart Ashford and Jake Muncaster remained unbeaten as Blackpool were 260-4 off 45 overs, Jake Muncaster 83 and Ashford 15.

When Fleetwood batted they lost wickets regularly with James Gregson top scoring with 32 as they were all out for 101 in 42.4 overs.

Sam Owen took 3-21 supported by Tom Myerscough 2-14 and Joel Wilson 2-20.

Morecambe v Lancaster

Morecambe cruise to a 78 run victory over Lancaster.

Lancaster won the toss and invited Morecambe to bat and after openers Gulam Maje 18, Steven Fisher 13 and Adam Derham 45 the innings collapsed and thanks to No 9 Michael Fisher with an unbeaten 47 enabled Morecambe to the score of 177-9 off 45 Overs,

Phillip Sparrow 4-32, and Dakshina De Silva 4-28 did the damage for Lancaster.

In Lancaster's reply Philip Sparrow and Geoff Orr 24 top scored as they were all out for 99 with Muhammed Patel taking 4-25 and Uzair Shah 3-25.

Netherfield v Kendal

Netherfield beat Kendal by 115 runs.

Put into bat Netherfield recovered from 60-6 thanks to Nathan Dixon's unbeaten 100 supported by Mike Dugdale with 40 enabling them to a total of 183-9.

Toby Tyson removed the top three and finished with figures of 5-23.

Kendal were blown away for just 68 in 28 overs, only Mike Dugdale 22 and Alex Carradus 11 showing any resistance.

Captain Scott Clement with 4-18, Stuart Nixon 3-18, Marc Hadwin 2-19 and Joel Bibby with one took the wickets for Netherfield.

Penrith v Barrow

Barrow won a rain reduced game with Penrtih by 5 wickets.

Penrith were 163 all out in 44.3 overs thanks to runs from Ted Stamper 59 not out, Mark Osnorne 31 and Samuel Hall 27.

Cliff Wilson and Jordan Nicholson with 3 wickets each.

The visitors needed 153 off 39 overs in a revised total due to the rain.

Barrow reached their target in 37.5 overs closing on 153-5 with Jordan Nicholson with 52 and Sam Fell seeing them over the line with an unbeaten 21.

Sam Hall took 3-13 for the home side.

Preston v Leyland

Leyland won by 45 runs at Preston.

Leyland putting 130-8 on the board due to the rain. Hamza Kahn with 28 James Rounding 22 and 22 from Alex Willims enabled Leyland to put an defendable score on the board.

Syed Shajjar Shah with 4-38 was Preston's best bowler.

Preston were all out for 85 with Mustafa Durrani top scoring with 27.

Michael Birchall with 4-20 was the main Leyland wicket taker supported by Steven Pallett 3-15, Will Jacques 2-21 and one wicket for Alex Williams.

St Annes v Chorley

St Annes defeated Chorley by 28 runs.

St Annes were invited to bat and scored 168-5 in their 45 overs.

The St Annes innings was tied down by Rex Purnell and Ben Milnes, When Ricky Parmar was out for 44 the St Annes Captain Paul Wilks joined Jake Higson and they set about the Chorley bowling.

With controlled hitting and good running between the wickets the pair took the total to 168 with Jake Higson 50 not out and Paul Wilks 32 not out.

Rex Purnell had figures of 2-17 off 12 overs.

In their reply Chorley were all out for 140 in 40 overs. Rob Gardner 52 off 78 balls and Joe Barker 48 off 67 balls put Chorley in with a chance which faded at the fall of their wickets.

Thomas Bradley with 5-22 was St Annes best bowler supported by David Bartholomew 2-39 and Kevin Reid 1-38 with two run outs.
