The top three won but Fleetwood drop points in a losing draw and the Chorley challenge fades away in an action packed afternoon of Northern Cricket League.
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Barrow
The current League title holders batted first at Penrith CC and recovered from 30-3 to close on 196-8 off 50 overs.
Blackpool were indebted to the batting of Stephen Twist who top scored with 78 off 91 balls which included 7 fours and 2 sixes.
Alex Smith made 38 off 82 balls and with Twist took the score from 30 to 122, Andy Furniss joined Twist and they moved the total to 161 when Twist was out.
Barrow Skipper Daryl Wearing returned the best bowling figures of 4-44.
In reply Barrow were blown away by Richarde Gleeson who returned 8-61, Barrow were all out in 37 overs for 130. Sam Dutton with 38 off 36 balls was their top scorer with contributions of 22 from Michael Wellings, 21 form Ryan Gilmour and 13 from Paul Riley.
Andy Furniss took the other two wickets and had figures of 2-38 to see Blackpool home by 66 runs
Darwen v Lancaster
Darwen batting first closed on 214-6 with John Cordingley making 68, Ammer Mirza 63, Mark Friend 26 and David Bowden unbeaten on 24.
Ben Simm with 4-70 and Liam Moffat 2-75 were the Lancaster wicket takers.
Lancaster were all out for 164 in 44.3 overs and partnerships between professional Rameez Raja 60, Charlie Swarbrick 33 and Iain Perrieman 48 gave them hope but the return of Neil Cordingley swung the game in Darwen's favour.
Neil Cordingley finished with figures of 4-37 and David Bowden 3-26.
Fleetwood v Leyland
Fleetwood dropped points at Broadwater in a high scoring game.
Fleetwood won the toss and invited Leyland to bat, Luis Reece and Chris Parkinson opened the batting and were 79 when Parkinson was out for 34.
Richardt Frenz joined Reece and they were in a partnership of 189 when Luis Reece was out for 113 off 140 balls Richardt Frenz was 119no off 104 when the innings closed on 273 - 2 in their 50 overs.
Fleetwood putting up a magnificent effort in reply as they closed just ten runs short on 263-7 off 50 overs,
Professional David King once again lead from the front with 101 off 147 balls and fellow opener Adam Parker 46 off 62 Balls
The crucial wicket was when Ian Holland run out for 69 off 49 balls.
Leyland captain David Makinson returning from injury had figures of 3-96 and Nathan McDonnell 2-51
Morecambe v Chorley
Morecambe continue to lead the way at the top of Northern Cricket League Division One following a seven wicket win over Chorley.
The victory pushing Chorley further adrift in their pursuit for the League title.
Chorley batting first were all out for 99 in just 28.3 overs, Will Moulton 20, Kieran MC Cullagh 20 Peter Cummins 14 and Jack Catterall 11 the only Chorley batsmen to reach double figures.
The Morecambe professional Suraj Randiv had figures of 5-25.
Morecambe knocked the runs off in 26.5 overs, closing on 100-3, After losing Mark Woodhead early, a stand between captain Josh Dixon and Suraj Randiv put Morecambe in charge. Randiv scored 43 off 50 balls and Josh Dixon was unbeaten on 37 off 77 balls.
Netherfield v St Annes
St Annes won only their second game of the season as they defeated Netherfield by 7 wickets at Parkside Road.
The visitors recovered from a bad start at 29-4 to reach a credible 218-9, Geeth Malinda top scored with 70 off 67 balls, Matthew Taaffe after a bad run of form held the innings together with 69 off 123 balls and No 7 Tom Bradley 21 and No 8 Matthew Grindley 22 helped St Annes to a respectable total
Nathan Chambers with figures of 4-64 and professional Dieter Klein 2-37 were the Netherfield wicket takers.
The Netherfield reply started disastrously Ben Barrow bowled by Matthew Grindley for 0 0-1, Mark Brown and Richaed Potter took the score to 30 when Brown was run out quickly followed by Richard Potter 36-3.
Dieter Klein steadied the ship and on 78-6 was joined by Nathan Chambers and they had a partnership 0f 54 when Chambers was out for 20. 144-8.
Klein's valiant attempt ended shortly after and he was out for 76 off 94 balls and the Netherfield innings closed on 145 in 39.5 overs when Ryan Wilson was run out by Matthew Taaffe.
The St Annes wicket takers were Matthew Grindley 3-59 off 15.5 overs, Xander Pitchers 3-64 off 19 0vers and Matthew Taaffe 1-18
Preston v Kendal
Preston's troubles continue as Kendal won by 146 runs at West Cliff.
Kendal were all out for 232 in 49.3 overs with some steady scoring throughout the innings. Saeed Bariwala made 22 opening and Paul Dodds 44 before Shane Hyland with 63 consolidated the innings.
Captain Chris Miller 24, Richard Herron 24 and 14 from Lewis Richardson saw Kendal to their winning total of 232
The wickets were shared amongst the Preston bowlers with Mohmedrafik Patel with 4-52 having the best return
The Preston innings became a procession and after Sajid Patel 10 it was left to No 8 Omer Sabir with 29 and No 10 Afzal Kapadia 15 to enable Preston to be all out for 86 in 25.2 overs
Chris Miller with 5-33 was the Preston tormentor supported by Eldred Hawken with 3-13

Netherfield win the big game but Leyland are top
Barrow v Blackpool
Blackpool came away from Barrow with a winning draw.
Barrow won the toss and asked Blackpool to bat, Blackpool struggled and Ciaran Johnson with 41 steadied the ship when on 105-8 Declan Fisher and Chris Baines came together and took the total to 167-9 before the innings closed on 188-9 off 45 overs,
Joshua Allington was the pick of the Barrow bowlers with 4-32.
Barrow in reply reached 53 -4 when Tom Penney was out for 21. Joshua Allington was joined by Sam Henderson and they took the total to 115 - 5 when Allington was out for 42,
Quick wickets fell and Henderson held the innings together before he was out for 50, Barrow held on and finished on 156-9. It was notable that there were 21 extras in the Barrow innings
Chris Baines took 3-23 and Joel Watson with 3-24 nearly gave Blackpool victory.
Chorley v Morecambe
Morecambe win by six wickets at Chorley.
Chorley were invited to bat and after the loss of an early wicket 10- 1. Mark Richardson and captain Alexander Howarth took the total to 99 when Richardson was out for 38.
Howarth was unbeaten on 108 from 147 balls scoring 13 fours and 2 sixes, he received support from Ian Mawdesley who unfortunately had to retie hurt on 30. The innings closed on 205-2 in their 45 overs.
Morecambe made a brilliant start in reply to the Chorley total with an opening partnership of 133 between Gulam Maje and Lewis Smith when Maje was out for 43.
William Fraser-Gray was Smith's next partner and made 25 when he was out on 168.
Smith was third out on 181 for 99 off 98 balls leaving the visitors in a strong position and an unbeaten 21 from Barry Smith saw Morecambe home reaching 208 - 4 off 44.1 overs
Kendal v Preston
Kendal defeated Preston by 4 wickets at Shap Road.
Preston scored a respectable 187-8. Mustafa Durrani 49 off 86 balls was their top scorer ably supported by Abdullah Kadva 29 off 23 balls. Moshin Patel 27 off 39, and Akmal Shah 27 off 29.
Marcus Hill returned figures of 3-42 for Kendal
Kendal reached their winning total of 188-6 in the 41st over,
After a poor start both openers going cheaply Paul Hodgson 43 off 35 and Finlay Richardson put Kendal in a strong position. Richardson was unbeaten on 44 and an unbeaten 24 off 18 balls by Marcus Hill saw Kendal home.
Abdullah Kadva 2-28 was Preston's best bowler.
Lancaster v Darwen
Darwen chased down an imposing score of 251 to defeat Lancaster by six wickets.
Lancaster were all out for 251 in 43.1 overs.thanks to Lee Sparks 102 ably supported by Dakshina De Silva 48 , Matthew Liver 30, Danny Welbourne 23 and 21 extras.
The wickets were shared amongst the Darwen bowlers but Andrew Cook 3-49 and Sam Painter 2-47 had the best return.
Darwen had a good start in chasing down the big score with Andrew Brown 35 then Mark Emery joined Zac Whalley . They put the visitors in a strong position when Whalley was out for 48,
Reece Willets made 34 and it was left to Mark Emery 100 not out and Mark Bennett 10 not out to see Darwen home on 252-4 in 45.1 overs.
Lawrie Atkinson returned with figures of 3-33.
Leyland v Fleetwood
Leyland remain a point clear at the top of Division Two after a comfortable 103 run win over Fleetwood.
Leyland won the toss and batted and put 201-8 on the board thanks to James Rounding with 57 ,Ross Bretherton 52 and Lloyd Tennant 33.
Tom Clarke took 4-49 from his twelve overs
Fleetwood were all out for 98 in 38.5 overs, Nick Wall 24 and an Unbeaten 23 from Alex Ryder the main contributors to the Fleetwood total.
Elliot Boardman with figures of 4-9 ripped through the middle order supported by Michael Birchall 3-30. James Rounding 2-19 polishing off the tail
St Annes v Netherfield
Netherfield go to within a point of after a dominating the leaders 125 run victory at St Annes,
St Annes won the toss and asked Netherfield to bat, they made 200-4 in their 45 overs. The innings dominated by a partnership between Matthew Goodal 73 not out and Nathan Dixon 49.
When St Annes batted the opener Luke Wilks 21 and Ricky Parmar 11 were the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Marc Hadwin ripped through St Annes with figures of 7-16 from 10 overs as St Annes were all out for 75 in 33.1 overs.
