Morecambe extend their lead and Darwen falter

Morecambe extend their advantage,as Chorley go second, meanwhile Darwen taste defeat as all Northern League Teams avoid the rain in a crucial afternoon of action.

DIVISION ONE:

Barrow v Kendal

A rain reduced game saw Barrow take a winning draw with Kendal. The game was reduced to 33 overs aside. Batting first Barrow closed on 174-8 thanks to Michael Wellings with an unbeaten 51 off 47 balls and Tharanga Paranavitana with 34 off 38 balls.

Kendal's Saeed Bariwala was the pick of the bowlers with 3-38 and Chris Miller took 2-66.

Kendal started badly as they found themselves struggling on 70-5, however 52 off 42 balls by Eldred Hawken helped Kendal to a recover. Richard Herron and Joseph Dodds saw the game out as Kendal closed on 127-6.

Chorley v Lancaster

Chorley moved up to second in Division One after a crucial 84 run win over Lancaster. Chorley who remain undefeated since 4th May batted first as they closed on 191-7 off 36 overs.

Opening batsman David Fisher with 70 off 72 balls and Ian Dickinson 37 off 59 balls laid the foundations and captain Andrew Holdsworth scored a late flurry with 37 off 31 balls.

For Lancaster Ben Simm had figures of 3-81 and Iain Perrieman 2-55

Lancaster were all out for 107 in 35 overs with Alex Metcalfe with 49 off 66 balls top scoring., Brenton Mcdonald took the last 6 Lancaster wickets and finished 6-27.

Leyland v Penrith

Leyland picked up a much needed win after defeating Penrith by 3 wickets at The Stanning Memorial Ground. The hosts posting a dominating 263-7. Richardt Frenz 83 and Tom Reece 54 gave Leyland the momentum to a commanding total with Sam oldhan chipping in with an undeafted 30

Michael Slack had figures of 4-100 off 21 overs and Paul Hindmarch taking 3-67 off 16

Penrith were all out in reply for 166 in 43.2 overs, Michael Slack the main run scorer with 62. David Makinson returning figures of 4-24

Morecambe v Preston

Morecambe remain on top of Division one after a routine 137 run victory over Preston at Woodhill Lane.

Another rain reduced game saw Morecambe post 130-4, Lewis Edge the main run scorer with 74. Preston were blown away for 43, in 28 overs, Suraj Randiv continuing to lead the way with most wickets taken after returning figures of 7-15.

Tommy Clough with 2-13 and Gareth Pedder with 1-5 were the other Morecambe wicket taker

Netherfield v Darwen

Mark Clarkson returned figures of 8-49 for Netherfield in the shock defeat of Darwen by 119 runs at Parkside Road. Yet another reduced overs game, saw Netherfield recover from 80-4, to close on 244-5.

Brad Earl and John Huck putting on 145 in 16.4 overs. John Huck scoring 87 off 67 balls and Brad Earl was unbeaten on 82 off 58 balls.

Mark Clarkson ripped through the Darwen innings with Jordan Clarke's team all out for 125 in 28 overs. Clarkson finished with 8-49 off 14 overs

St Annes v Fleetwood

Fleetwood eased past St Annes by 8 wickets at Vernon Road. Ian Holland returning figures of 6-68, and David King with figures of 4-56 as the hosts are all out for 139 in 40.3 overs. Andy Kellett with 56 off 92 balls offered the main resistance along with a last wicket partnership of 35 from David Watson 21 and Jake Woods 11no

Fleetwood knocked the runs off in 27.3 overs closing on 140-2, David King with 47 and Adam Parker with 42 putting Fleetwood in a strong position before Michael Clinning finished the game off with an unbeaten 37 off 39 balls.

Division 2 Round Up:

Netherfield stumble and Leyland capitalise

Darwen v Netherfield

Darwen shocked league leaders Netherfield after defeating them by 7 wickets at Birch Hall. The game starting at 4pm saw Netherfield all out for 91 in 23 overs. Nathan Jackson with figures of 8-49.

John Painter's unbeaten 44 and Gary Jackson's unbeaten 22 saw Darwen home in 22 overs as they closed on 93-3.

Fleetwood v St Annes

Fleetwood edged past St Annes by 19 runs. The hosts closing on 179-8 off 35 overs, Andy Singleton with 66 and Nick Wall with 54 enabled Fleetwood to set a defendable total. Richard Thomas returned figures of 6-62 from his 12 overs

St Annes were all out for 160 in 31.4 overs, Neil Bradley top scoring with 67 and Geeth Malinda with 59 gave St Annes hope but Alex Ryder 4-55, and James Amor 3-22 see Fleetwood to victory.

Kendal v Barrow

Barrow edged past Kendal by 2 wickets in a close game at Shap Road. Kendal closing on 108-9 off 35 overs Sam Henderson with figures of 4-34 for the visitors

Robin Adams unbeaten 38 off 75 balls with the help of the middle and late order saw Barrow home in 34.5 overs, closing on 111-8. Toby Tyson returning figures of 4-39

Lancaster v Chorley

Chorley won by 35 runs at Lancaster. Chorley were all out for 155 in 36.3 overs. Max Harper with 31, and Michael Mead with 24.

Steven Armstrong 3-50 and Nathan Baxter 3-23 were Lancaster's main wicket takers

Lancaster were all out in reply for 120 in 33.5 overs, Paul Dawson was their main run scorer with 46. Joseph Tiffin took 7-13 off 6.5 overs which also included the Hat-trick Peter Cummins took the other 3 wickets and finished with 3-22.

Penrith v Leyland

Leyland return to the summit of Division Two following a 54 run win over Penrith. Leyalnd were all out for 191 in a rain reduced 41 overs. Lloyd Tennant with 45. There werw 3 wickets each for Jamie O Brien and Ted Stamper.

In reply Penrith are bowled out for 137 in 40.2 overs. The Leyland wicket takers being Michael Birchall 4-28, Steven Pallett 3-39, Will Jacques 2-29.

Preston v Morecambe

Preston picked up a good win after seeing off Morecambe by 5 wickets in a rain affected contest at West Cliff. The game reduced to 35 overs aside saw Morecambe close on 145-8, Phil Thomson with an unbeaten 37.

The wickets were shared about with Yasin Patel, Mustafa Durrani and Ammer Abbas Khan getting a brace, with Hamza Ahmed and Abdullah Kadva getting 1 each.

Preston chased down the score for the loss of 5 wickets closing on 146 in 32.5 overs.thanks to Mustafa Durrani with 39,Yasin Patel 33 and Ammer Abbas Kahn with an unbeaten 30.

Irfan Qayyum had the best bowling figures of 3-37 for Morecambe
