The title race heats up as Blackpool continue to falter, in a high scoring afternoon of action in the Northern Cricket League:
DIVISION ONE:
Blackpool v Darwen
Blackpool's bad run of form continues as they slipped to a 5 wicket home defeat to inform Darwen. Darwen are now up to second in the table following on from what was a big victory for Jordan Clarke's team.
The defending League Champions batting first, posted 178 for 9 off 50 overs, Stephen Twist holding the innings together with 75 off 90 balls ( 6 fours and 1 six). David Bowden having the best figures of 4-49 for the visitors.
In reply Ammer Mirza laid the foundations for victory scoring 55 off 94 balls, before a partnership of 92 between Mark Friend and John Cordingley saw Darwen home in 46 overs as they closed on 179-5. The partnership lasted 53 minutes facing 74 balls scoring 13 fours and 1 six.
Mark Friend top scoring with 59 off 41 balls and john Cordingley 29 off 36 balls.
Christi Viljeon and Richard Gleeson took two wickets each
Chorley v Barrow
Sri Lankan Professional Tharanga Paranavitana and Michael Wellings both scored centuries as Barrow had to settle for a winning draw at Chorley.
The Sri Lankan all rounder made his ton off 98 balls before being dismissed by Brenton Mc Donald, whilst Michael Wellings remained unbeaten on 100 off 111 balls. (10 fours and 4 sixes) which resulted in Barrow closing on 261-4.
In reply Chorley held on at 198-9 off 51 overs thanks to Ian Dickinson with 71 off 91 balls and opening batsman Ian Oakes with 41 off 54 balls.
Tharanga Paranvitana was Barrow's best bowler with 4-59.
Morecambe v Leyland
Morecambe pull clear at the top of Division One following a 67 run victory over Leyland at Woodhill Lane.
The hosts posting 150-9 off 50 overs thanks to No 6 Phillip Dennison 37 and No 8 Eddie Read with 32 giving the hosts a respectable total to defend
Sam Oldham with figures of 3-14 and Nathan McDonnell 3-28 doing the damage for Leyland
Leyland were d blown away by Eddie Read who returned figures of 5-12, and Leyland were all out in 40.3 overs for 83. Suraj Randiv returning figures of 3-21 for Morecambe
Netherfield v Fleetwood
Netherfield won their first home game of the season as they shocked Fleetwood in a seven wicket win at Parkside.
In a high scoring game, Fleetwood posted 213 for 6, Australian Professional David King hitting a century as he made 118.
Netherfield professiona Dieter Klein returned figures of 4-67.
Despite losing Rick Potter for 0, it was left to Netherfield captain Marc Brown with an unbeaten 120, to guide Netherfield home as they chased down the score closing on 217-3 in 47 overs.
Penrith v Lancaster
Lancaster came away from Tynefield Park with a winning draw, Ben Simm's team were all out for 227 off 50 overs. Rameez Raja top scoring with 77 off 98 balls ably assisted by Charlie Swarbrick with 54 off 40 and opening batsman Jamie Heywood with 46.
Paul Hindmarch with figures of 4-55 and Greg Hall 4-50 were Penrith's best bowlers
Penrith closed on 180-9 thanks to No6 Greg Hall with 59 with contributions of No 7 Alex Raybould 24 and No 8 Jonathon Osbourne 22.
Liam Moffat removed all three batsmen and finished with figures of 4-49
St Annes v Kendal
Kendal won a thriller as they won at St Annes by 1 wicket. St Annes were all out for 157 Adam Holt with 49 off 77 balls.
Kendal captain Chris Miller bowled through out and returned figures of 6-72 from 25 overs
In reply Kendal recovered from 94-8, to seal it on the last ball with 2 byes as they closed on 158-9. Oliver Field's 43 and and Chris Millers unbeaten 31 seeing the visitors home.

Barrow v Chorley
Chorley pulled off a one wicket win at Barrow, The hosts were restricted to 134-9 off 45 overs, Patrick Allington scoring 47 and Joe Barker returning figures of 3-37 for Chorley
The visitors edging home on 135-9 in the 43rd over , contributions of 41 by M Richardson, and H Barclay helping Chorley to victory.
Matthew Studt 4-23 and Jordan Nicholson 3-14 battled in vain for the hosts
Darwen v Blackpool
Blackpool overcame Darwen by 4 wickets. Matthew Siddall's 4-44 restricting Darwen to 141-8. John Painter making 46 for the hosts.
Ciaran Johnson guided Blackpool home with unbeaten 69 in 44 overs, closing on 142-6.
Fleetwood v Netherfield
Netherfield remain unbeaten and top of Division Two after a 4 wicket win at Fleetwood.
Fleetwood were all out for 124 in 41.4 overs. Matthew Clinton returning figures of 4-29.

St Annes eased past Kendal by 119 runs, Nathan Armstrongs 88 off 69 balls and Matthew Taaffe's 49 off 103 balls setting Kendal a chase of 206-8. Sam Dyson had figures of 3-32.
Kendal were all out for 87 in 44 overs thanks to good bowling from Jake Higson 4-9 and Richard Thomas with figures of 4-23.
Lancaster v Penrith
Lancaster won by 1 run against Penrith. Lancaster were all out for 126 in 39 overs, Lee Marshall top scoring with 31 and Jamie O'Brien returning figures of 4-45.
Penrith fell just short as they are all out for 125 in 40.2 over. Mark Osborne top scoring with 30.

Leyland v Morecambe
Leyland are closing in on Netherfield at the top after a 4 wicket win over Morecambe.
