The Northern Cricket League Season for 2014 came to an end and despite their being very little to play for the final day proved to be a very competitive afternoon in Division One and Division Two
Here is a roundup of all the final day action:
DIVISION ONE:
Barrow v Morecambe:
Barrow signed off with a 62 run victory over Morecambe at Ernest Pass. Barrow posted a very competitive total of 256-9.
Sam Dutton with the most runs as he top scored with 53 in 50 balls, there were also good contributions from Dean Williams, Greg Reynolds, Ryan Brown, Mike Wellings, Graham Dawson and Daryl Wearing. Kelly Smuts returning figures of 3-71.
In reply a second wicket partnership of 90 between Kelly Smuts and Jordan Willoughby got Morecambe off into a good position, however when they were dismissed within two overs of each other the visitors struggled.
Yakub Bhamji offered some resistance with a an unbeaten knock of 38 off 48 balls, however Barrow eased home thank to Gary Collins who returned figures of 6-62. Morecambe all out for 194 in 42.4 overs. Kelly Smuts signing off with a top score of 46 off 42 balls.
Blackpool v Darwen:
Blackpool fresh from winning The Northern League title, defeated Darwen by 5 wickets at Stanley Park.
Darwen bowled out for 188 in 46.1 overs, Richard Gleeson returning figures of 3-57. Reece Davies top scoring with 69 off 86 balls and Christopher Clarke with 50 off 77 balls.
In reply Blackpool edged home in 46.5 overs closing on 189-5, Gurmandeep Bains top scoring with 87 off 135 balls. Joshua Boyne with 48 off 97 balls.
Lancaster v Penrith:
Lancaster won the toss and elected to bat and were bowled out for 160 in 37.4 overs. Michael Barry was once again top scorer with 50. Penrith captain Kriss McLean took 5-54
Greg Hall 25 and Nicky Burns 29 gave Penrith a good start but the introduction of Michael Barry and Ben Simm saw a steady fall of wickets until Ryan Carruthers 48 and Will Tyson 20 put the visitors on the road to victory.

Netherfield v Leyland
Netherfield held Leyland to a winning draw at Parkside Road. Netherfield closing on 218-8. Saliya Saman signing off with 74 runs whilst Brad Earl made 52. David Makinson had figures of 3-59.
Leyland got off to a good start in reply with Luis Reece top scoring with 78 and Henry Thompson with 77. The visitors looking likely to win, however Netherfield dug in as Mark Clarkson returned figures of 3-68 as Leyland just closed on 215-8 in a dramatic final day game.
Preston v Fleetwood:
Fleetwood went on the rampage as they sauntered to a 156 run victory at Preston. Fleetwood posting 273-9. The sub professional made 69 and Adam Parker 57. Afzal Kapadia returning figures of 3-85.
Preston were all out for 117 in 24.5 overs. Naveed Yousaf returning figures of 5-21 and the sub professional had figures of 5-27. Jibran Kahn top scoring with 74
St Annes v Kendal
St Annes defeated Kendal by 4 wickets at Vernon Road. Kendal were all out for a lowly 109 in 41.4 overs. Mikey Harling returning figures of 3-22. Kendal's Graham Baker and Ryan Shepherd with 22 runs each.
In reply St Annes won in 16.4 overs, despite Stu Parkin returning figures of 4-58. Adam Holt top scoring with 31 off 30 balls as the hosts closed on 110-6.

Sunday 14th September
Lancaster v Lancashire Colts
Lancaster won the toss and batted and were bowled out in 16.4 overs for 43. Kieran Moffat 14 and Charlie Swarbrick the only batsmen to reach double figures
John Dotters with 6-19 did the damage aided by Ben Saunders with 3-4
The Colts had no problems in gaining the victory knocking off the runs in only 7.1 overs ending on 48-1

Blackpool g0t a winning draw at Darwen. Sam Owen with 63 as Blackpool close on 193-7. Graham Ainslie returning figures of 5-59.
Darwen held on at 119-9, Sam Owen returning figures of 4-23, Zac Whalley top scoring with 32.
Fleetwood v Chorley
Played at Chorley:
Jack Bentham hit an unbeaten 107 as Chorley hed to settle for a Winning Draw at Fleetwood. Chorley posting a huge score of 285 for 6 off 45 overs. Joseph Tiffin with 85. Declan Clerkin returning figures of 3-58.
In reply Fleetwood close were 155-9, James Wilson with an unbeaten 60. Richard Flood had figures of 4-7.
Kendal v St Annes:
Kendal pulled off a surprise 36 run victory over St Annes, Kendal closing on 108-8. Sam Dyson with 18. Martyn Burnett returning figures of 4-28.
St Annes were all out for 72 in 35.1 overs, Toby Tyson with figures of 3-11 and Sam Dyson 3-19.
Leyland v Netherfield:
Leyland overcame Netherfield by 41 runs. Leyland closing on 189-7. Jake Peake with 73. Stuart Nixon and Isaac Medhurst with 2 wickets apiece.
Netherfield all out for 148 in 40.3 overs, Craig Walmsley with 54. Ian Farrington returning figures of 4-32 and Alex Williams with figures of 3-53.
Penrith v Lancaster:
Lancaster won at Penrith by 67 runs. Lancaster ending their innings on 166-8, Michael Armstrong with 44 and Lawrie Atkinson with 40. Dan Morland returning figures of 3-29
Penrith were all out for 99 in 27 overs, Philip Sparrow returning figures of 5-17. Nick Hall top scoring with 25

Fleetwood v Preston
Played at Chorley
Fleetwood won the toss and batted making 219 - 6 in 45 overs. Andy Singleton was the mainstay of the innings with 80no. Syed Shajjar Shah took 3-37.
In reply Preston were bowled out for 102 in 34.3 overs. Ammer Abbas Khan 43 and Syed Shajjar Shah 20 were the only Preston players to reach double figures. Anthony Ellison took 4-6 in 5.3 overs
