League leaders Blackpool get a losing draw at Fleetwood, whilst Leyland close in with victory at Preston in a rain affected afternoon of Northern League action.

DIVISION ONE:

Barrow v Darwen:

Barrows game with Darwen was rained off in the 36th over. Barrow who were batting first made 130-3. Kaustubh Pawar unbeaten on 68 off 117 balls. Michael Wellings with an unbeaten 47 off 53 balls.

Kamran Anwar returning the best figures for the visitors with 2-39. Both teams taking 4 points each

Chorley v Lancaster

Chorley picked up a crucial victory after defeating Lancaster by 69 runs in a rain reduced contest at Windsor Park.

Andrew Holdsworth's team were keen to replicate their cup performances into their league form and knew how crucial the game was against a Lancaster team that have had a tough season compared to their efforts of last season where they finished third.

The hosts batting first, closed on 147-9 off 33 overs. Mohammed Jamal hitting a top scoring 51 off 50 balls. Andrew Holdsworth also batted well for 48 off 82 balls. Lancaster skipper Ben Simm returning the best figures of 4-30.

In reply Lancaster were all out for 78 in 28.2 over's, Chris Harty ripping through the visitors with figures of 6-34.

Fleetwood v Blackpool:

League leaders Blackpool had to settle for a losing draw at Fleetwood in a rain affected contest at Broadwater.

Fleetwood batting first closed on 183-6, South African Professional JP De Villiers hitting a top scoring 81 off 93 balls. His innings including 8 four's and 4 sixes.

When Blackpool batted an Over was lost due to the rain whilst the target score was reduced by 3 runs from 184 to 181.

Blackpool in reply fell just short as they closed on 180-8. Paul Danson with 48 and Richard Gleeson with 41. Naveed Yousaf returning figures of 6-38.

Morecambe v Kendal:

Darren Nightingale was the hero for Kendal as he bowled a triple wicket maiden to save the game for Kendal as they held on for a winning draw at Morecambe.

In a rain affected contest at Woodhill Lane, Kendal had set the hosts a competitive score of 173-3. Jamie How the top scorer with 66 aided with 43 from Terry Hunte. Yakub Bhamji 3-57, Kelly Smuts 3-75 and Tommy Clough 2-19 were the Morecambe wicket takers

Morecambe almost chased the total down with Kelly Smuts hitting a top scoring 60 with valuavle contributions from Ryan Pearson 45 and Lewis Edge 42.

With the game reduced to 38 overs, and with victory in sight for Morecambe, Darren Nightingale bowled a crucial last over spell with a triple wicket maiden as the hosts just missed out as they closed on 170-7. Darren finnished with 4-15

Netherfield v Penrith:

The Netherfield vs Penrith game never got started as rain prevented play. Both teams waited till 4pm, before the captains shook hands with both teams taking 4 points each.

Preston v Leyland

Luis Reece returned incredible figures of 8-39 as Leyland overcame Preston by 4 wickets at West Cliff.

The Lancashire star was in relentless form as his 8 wicket haul saw Preston all out for 81 in 32.3.

With a low score to chase, Leyland had to work hard for the win as Preston bowled well, with Andrew Starkie returning figures of 4-29.

However Leyland sealed the win, thanks to Jake Peakes unbeaten 24 as Leyland knocked the runs off in 22 over's, closing on 85-6.

Division Two Round Up

Leyland continue their dominance at the top. In an afternoon of Division Two action

Blackpool v Fleetwood:

Blackpool picked up 12 points following a 9 wicket win over Fleetwood. Fleetwood were restricted to 114-7, despite the best efforts of Nick Wall who top scored with 48.

In reply the rain reduced the target to 72 of 21 overs, Blackpool with the reduced total knocked the runs off in 15.2 overs. Tom Jefferson with an unbeaten 49 off 54 balls.

Darwen v Barrow:

Barrow got a winning draw at Darwen, the game was reduced to 28 overs aside with the rain. Barrow closing on 186-2. Rugved Insulkar with 69, and Tom Penny with an unbeaten 61.

In reply Darwen closed on 173-7, Paul Riley with 4-61. Scott Jackson the top scorer with 48 for the hosts.

Kendal v Morecambe:

Morecambe had to settle for a winning draw at Kendal. Morecambe closing on 155-7, Michael Fisher with an unbeaten 65. Andrew Dugdale returning figures of 6-26 for the hosts.

In reply Kendal closed on 134-7. Paul Dodd's with 46, Gulam Maje with figures of 4-21.

Lancaster v Chorley:

Lancaster defeated Chorley by 33 runs. Lancaster were all out for 115 in 23.1 over's. Ian Oakes with figures of 5-31 for the visitors.

Chorley were all out for 82 in 25 overs, an unsure player with figures of 4-36, Scott Sparks returning figures of 3-10.

Leyland v Preston:

Leyland extend their advantage at the top as they eased to an 8 wicket win over Preston. Steven Pallet 4-21 and Will Jacques 4-12, bowling Preston out for 49 in 26.1 overs.

The hosts knocking the runs off in 10 overs. Nathan McDonnell with an unbeaten 32, with Leyland finishing on 51-2.

Penrith v Netherfield:

Penrith's game with Netherfield rained off, no play possible, both sides with taking 4 points
