Nathan Chambers of Netherfield celebrates taking 5 wickets against Chorley

Leyland go top after winning the battle of the top two, whilst Blackpool close in with victory over Preston in an action packed afternoon of the Northern Cricket League.

DIVISION ONE:

Barrow v Lancaster:

Barrow bounced back from some bad results with a much needed 5 wicket win over Lancaster at Ernest Pass.

Lancaster all out for 120 in 39.4 overs, despite the best efforts of professional Michael Barry who top scored with 78.

However Barrow captain Daryl Wearing was in good form, returning figures of 5-24, Indian professional Kaustubh Pawar also impressed with figures of 4-36.

In reply, Barrow knocked the runs off in 36.1 overs, closing on 123-5.Ryan Brown with 45, Sam Dutton with 41, whilst Graham Dawson closed with an unbeaten 25.

Fleetwood v Kendal:

Fleetwood picked up a much needed victory after defeating Kendal by 54 runs at Broadwater.

Mat Clark's team, batted first and posted a more than competitive total of 193-9 off 50 overs. Adam Sharracks the top run getter with 77. Whilst Adam Parker also chipped in with 33.

Chris Stanhope also added 20 runs, whilst Kendal skipper Stu Parkin continued his good form returning figures of 3-37.

In reply, Kendal were in deep trouble at 97-8, before being bowled out for 139 in 39.2 Overs.

Kendal offered late resistance through Nick Lewthwaite with 32 and Chris Miller with 20.

Leyland v Darwen:

Leyland won the crucial battle of the top two defeating Darwen by 68 runs, leapfrogging the team from Birch Hall into top spot.

In what was dubbed as the game of the afternoon, David Makinsons team, batted first, and they posted 148-9 off 50 over's. Henry Thompson the top run scorer with 57 off 101 balls.

Andrew Makinson batting at number 8 also scored runs and he ended on 28 off 52 balls.

Darwens Professional George Linde the main wicket taker for Jordan Clarke's team as he returned figures of 4-27.

In reply Darwen were skittled out for 80 in just 29.2 over's. Karl Cross returning figures of 5-23.

Morecambe v St Annes:

St Annes cruised to a 6 wicket win at Morecambe in a low scoring encounter. Toby Bulcock ripping through Morecambes batting with figures of 4-23 as Tommy Clough's team are skittled out for 83 in 41.2 overs.

In reply St Annes knocked the runs off in 22 overs closing on 84-4. Lukman Vahaluwala with 41 off 32 balls.

Netherfield v Chorley:

Netherfield pick up 12 points after a comfortable 8 wicket win over Chorley at Parkside Road.

Chorley winning the toss opted to bat as they were bowled out for 137 in 49 overs, Nathan Chambers returning figures of 5-41.

Chorley's David Fisher the top scorer with 35 off 85 balls.

In reply, Netherfield knocked the runs off in 24.5 overs, closing on 141-2. Marc Brown hitting an unbeaten 52 off 67 balls, whilst John Huck scored a quick fire 33 off 16 balls.

Preston v Blackpool:

Blackpool's charge for the league title continues after winning by 69 runs at Preston. Paul Danson's team put themselves in at West Cliff, as they were bowled out for 172 in 49.1 overs. Matthew Houston the top scorer with 40. Preston skipper Saeed Bariwala returning figures of 6-30.

In reply Preston were all out for 103 off 40 overs, Richard Gleeson 4-24 and Christi Viljeon 3-25. Saeed Bariwala the top scorer with 53 off 103 balls.

Sunday 15th June
Kendal v Lancashire Colts

The Lancashire Colts got a winning draw at Kendal. The Colts put in by the hosts closing on 167-9. Chris Laker with 48 off 79 balls. Chris Miller returning figures of 5-54.

In reply Kendal were on the verge of losing before holding on as they closed on 113-9. Terry Hunte top scoring with 25 off 28 balls.

Callum Parkinson returning figures of 3-35 for the Colts.

Division Two Round Up

Netherfield strengthen their grip at the top after a dramatic win at Chorley,

Blackpool v Preston:

Blackpool wiped out bottom placed Preston by 171 runs at Stanley Park. Tom Jefferson with 66 and Joshua Boyne with 56, as Blackpool closed on 232-3.

In reply 5-12 by Ash Moreau and 3-13 by Sam Owen skittled Preston out for 61 in 28.5 Overs.

Chorley v Netherfield:

Netherfield remain top of Division Two after a dramatic 1 wicket victory at Chorley. Chorley batting first were restricted to 164-8. Alex Howarth with 68 for the hosts, Scott Clement the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 3-10.

In reply, Netherfield saw the game home with 3 balls to spare closing on 168-9. Matthew Goodall setting the platform with a top score of 39. Dan Gaunt (2) and Brad Airey (8), seeing Netherfied home. Michael Mead returning figures of 4-30 for the hosts

Darwen v Leyland:

Leyland dominated Darwen winning by 165 runs. Leyland declaring in the 39th over on 211-4. Tom Reece hitting an unbeaten 103, whilst James Rounding scored 51.

In reply Darwen were all out for 46 in just 18.3 overs, Steven Pallett returning figures of 6-3.

Kendal v Fleetwood:

Kendal defeated Fleetwood by 9 wickets at Shap Road. Fleetwood closing on 199-5. Wayne Clarke with 88.

In reply Ben Harrison's unbeaten 95, and Richard Herron's unbeaten 43, eased Mike Dugdales team home to victory in 39 overs, as they closed on 200-1. Paul Dodds also batted well for 52.

Lancaster v Barrow:

Barrow win by 65 runs at Lancaster!. Barrow scoring 158-5 off 45 overs. Toby Mowat with a top scoring 47..

Lancaster bowled were bowled out for 95 in 35.3 overs, Sam Henderson returning figures of 4-13

St Annes v Morecambe:

St Annes had a winning draw against Morecambe. St Annes closing on 231-6. Paul Wilks with 68 off 100,with Thomas Bradley scoring 53 off 61 balls.

In reply Morecambe held on closing on 156-8, Gareth Pedder with 44 off 60 balls. David Bartholomew returning figures of 5-26 for the hosts.

Netherfields 2nds progressed to the next round of The Readers Cup following with a 52 run victory over Lancaster. Preston defeated Kendal

Netherfield v Lancaster

Netherfield batting first closed on 169-7. Scott Clement top scoring with 46. In reply despite a good start by the visitors who were on 52-1, but were bowled out for 117. Scott Sparks making 43 and Tom Williamson returning figures of 6-10. for the hosts

Preston v Kendal

Preston pulled off a surprise 5 wicket win over Kendal in The Readers Cup. Kendal batting first were bowled out for 133. Ammer Abbas Kahn returning figures of 4-25. Richard Herron (62) and Shane Hyland (32), the main run getters for Kendal.

In reply Preston knocked the runs off closing on 134-5, Syed Ajmal Abbas Shah top scoring with 38
