The sun was shining in the Northern Cricket League on Saturday afternoon, in what was another interesting day of Northern League action

Here is my round up of what went on through both the First and 2nd divisions of The Northern League

DIVISION ONE

Fleetwood v Kendal

Kendal managed to hold on as they came away from Broadwater with a losing draw. Chris Miller's team had to go without a professional as their were last minute problems with their Sub pro.

Fleetwood took contol of the game declaring on the huge score of 270-8, Adam Parker and Ian Holland both hitting centurys. Parker scoring 113 off 146 and Ian Holland scored 108 off 96 balls.

Kendal to their credit kept going, and got wickets through Adam Cowperthwaite with figures of 4-83 and Jack White taking 3-59.

Kendal in reply lost Ryan Nelson in the first over and their recovery was indebted to Terry Hunte who top scored with 63 off 97 balls, ably supported by Jack White with 33 off 36 balls and a unbeaten 31 off 90 balls by Gary Baker.

Ian Holland took 4-63, as the hosts tried to pile the pressure on, Kendal closing on 172-6.

Blackpool v Morecambe

Morecambes good run of form continues after a 4 wicket win at Blackpool. Blackpool have been going through a poor run of results in recent weeks, batted first and made 152-8. Captain Paul Danson with a half century scoring 50 off 99 balls and Stephen Twist contributing with 36 off 60 balls.

Morecambe main wicket takers were Tommy Clough 3-41 and Richard Cupit 3-26.

The visitors easing home in 39.5 overs, Vishal Tripahti with 34 off 28, whilst the runs were shared through Mark Woodhead 23 off 53,Suman Shrestha 27 off 51

The unbeaten Gareth Pedder 15 off 18 and Lewis Edge 13 off 27 saw the visitors home.

Leyland v St Annes

Leyland got a winning draw with St Annes, the hosts without Luis Reece called upon the services of Church CC profressional Kasun Bodhisha.

Bodhisha made an instant impact scoring 54 off 47 balls, Nathan Mc Donnelll scored 55 of 76 balls with Chris Parkinson top scoring with an unbeaten 84 off 77 balls, as the Leyland declared on 265 for 3 in the 45th over.

St Annes held out due to Nathan Armstrong's unbeaten 76 off 117, Tayyab Afsar taking 4-59 was Leyland's best bowler as St Annes closed on 186 for 9 off 55 overs.

Barrow v Lancaster

Barrow remain top of the league after a 56 run victory over inform Lancaster. Batting first and closing on 185-9.

Jonathan Wells scored 53 off 72 balls and Rhys Studt impressed with an unbeaten 57 off 88 balls.

Liam Moffat returned figures of 3-55 for Lancaster.

Lancaster were bowled out for 129 in 44.3 overs, Daryl Wearing taking 4-22 and Jonathan Wells 4-40.

Netherfield v Chorley

It's 3 straight league defeats for Netherfield as they lost by 6 wickets to Chorley at Parkside Road.

Netherfield were all out for 178 in 49.4 overs. Ben Barrow with 43 off 80, John Huck 42 off 64 and Chris Parry unbeaten on 41 off 53

Gaurav Dhar taking 4-65 and Billy Smith taking 3-50 were the leading wicket takers for Chorley

In reply Chorley eased home in 46 overs reaching 170-4 thanks to Iam Dickinson's unbeaten 66 and with David Fisher setting the platform with 40 off 80 balls.

Preston v Darwen

Darwen got a winning draw at Preston, the visitors reaching 218-7 with Ammer Mirza 62 and Gareth Cordingley 57 their main run scorers

Preston were 161-7 at the close, Chris Wade taking 3-44 for Darwen and Soyeb Dukanwala with a top scoring 46 for Preston.

Division Two (2nd XI)

Division 2 Round Up:

Lancaster v Barrow

Barrow had to settle for a winning draw at Lancaster, the visitors battered first and made 182 for 8 off 45 overs.

Lee Hogg scoring 75 and Steven Armstrong 3-56 and Scott Sparks 3-42 for the hosts.

In reply Lancaster held on for the losing draw reaching 101-8. Scott Sparks making 40 off 72 balls and Michael Armstrong the saviour seeing out 66 balls. Ryan Gilmour was the leading wicket taker with 3-18 for the visitors

St Annes v Leyland

League Champions Leyland got a winning draw at St Annes, the visitors reaching 237-6. Tom Reece with an unbeaten 72 and Jonathan Mote with 69.

St Annes were 165 for 8 at the close, David Watson top scoring with 27 and James Rounding taking 3-45 for Leyland

Morecambe v Blackpool

Blackpool defeated Morecambe by 5 wickets at Woodhill Lane. Morecmabe were all out for 153 in 44 overs. Damian Gudgeon scoring 38 off 57 balls. Danny Gilbert had figures of 3-44 and Matthew Middlehurst 3-35.

Craig Brown's 68 off 70 balls guided Blackpool home reaching 153-5 in 42.3 overs. James Law taking 3-21 for Morecambe

Kendal v Fleetwood

Fleetwood won at Kendal by 92 runs, Fleetwood scoring 173-6 in their 45 overs with Adam Sharrocks top scoring with 57 off 93 balls.

Kendal all out for 81 in 31.5 overs, Anthony Ellison taking 4-12 for the visitors.

Darwen v Preston

Darwen overcame Preston by 112 runs at Birch Hall, Lee Thompson with 40 and Graham Ainslie with an unbeaten 40 allowing Darwen tp declare on 205-7.

Murtaza Hussain was preston's best bowler with 4-48

Preston were all out for 93 in 36.3 overs, Graham Ainslie returning figures of 4-5, and Greg Lawrenson 3-16

Chorley v Netherfield

Netherfield held on for a losing draw at Chorley, Chorley were 246-3 when their innings closed, Jack Bentham with an unbeaten 108 off 133 balls.

In reply Netherfield closed on 176 for 8, Brendan Herron saving the day with a top scoring 80 off 100 balls.
