Lukman Vahaluwala shines as St Annes avoid the rain to defeat Kendal

A rain affected afternoon didn't prevent St Annes and Morecambe from winning, whilst Barrow and Fleetwood had to settle for winning draws in the latest round of Northern Cricket League action

DIVISION ONE:

St Annes v Kendal:

St Annes defeated Kendal by 9 wickets at Vernon Road in a game reduced to 45 overs aside.

Kendal made 146-8 in their 45 overs, Terry Hunte top scoring with 57 off 77 balls, Lukman Vahaluwala with 3- 27 and Mitchell Bolus 3-37 the best performances for St Annes.

In reply St Annes reach 147-1 in the 34th Over, Lukman Vahaluwala 63no off 73 balls) and Matthew Taaffe 51no off 105 balls had an unbroken partnership of 108 to win the game

Nick Lewthwaite took the only wicket of Andy Kellett, Adam Cowperthwaite taking the catch.

Preston v Morecambe:

Morecambe made light work of Preston at West Cliff, with an 8 wicket victory, Jono Gates taking 7-16 as Preston were all out for 40 in 25.2 overs.

The visitors reaching their target of 44-1 in only 9 overs, Vishal Tripathi with an unbeaten 20.

Barrow v Chorley:

Barrow had to settle for a winning draw with Chorley at Ernest Pass. The game reduced to 38 overs, with Barrow posting 168-7, Ryan Brown with 67 off 80, and Sub Professional Ben Dunk with making off 78.

In reply Chorley closed on 82-7, Andrew Holdsworth with an unbeaten 27 off 85 balls and Iain Critchley with 20 off 37 balls for the visitors.

Fleetwood v Darwen:

There were 9 overs lost during the second innings in Fleetwood's winning draw with Darwen at Broadwater

Fleetwood posting 178-6 off 50 overs, Adam Parker with 72 off 106 balls, and Ian Holland with 35 off 68 balls.

Darwen replied with 145-8, Alan Kruger with 53 off 72 balls and Christopher Clarke with 43 off 74 balls.

Ian Holland taking 5-49 and Adam Parker taking 3-54 were Fleetwood's best bowlers

The matches between Blackpool and Lancaster and Netherfield and Leyland were abandoned without a ball being bowled

Sundays league clash between Darwen and the Lancashire Colts also rained of, both sides receiving 4 points each

Division 2 Round Up:

Chorley v Barrow:

Barrow defeated Chorley by 25 runs at Windsor Park, Michael Wellings top scored with 25 as Barrow set the hosts a target of 120-6 off 32 overs in another rain affected contest.

Chorley were all out for 95 in 27.3 overs, Joseph Allington with 6-28 supported Paul Riley taking 3-32.

Morecambe v Preston:

Morecambe dismissed Preston for 66 in 28.2 overs, James Law doing the damage taking 5-14 and Morecambe won by 9 wickets at Woodhill Lane

Morecambe cruised home reaching 67-1 in 6.2 overs, Phillip Dennison making 31 off 14 balls and Michael Fisher with an unbeaten 21 off 15 balls.

Leyland v Netherfield:

Leyland got a winning draw with Netherfield, the game reduced to 32 overs, before Netherfields innings was reduced to 27 overs.

Leyland reaching 108-9 in their 32 overs, Jonathan Mote with 40, Matthew Clinton took 4-20 and Nathan Chambers 3-39 for the visitors

Netherfield reaching 68-6 in reply, Shane Dixon with an unbeaten 24 and Steven Wilson with 21, Steven Pallett taking 4-32 for the hosts

The matches between Darwen and Fleetwood, Kendal and St Annes, and Lancaster and Blackpool were abandoned without a ball being bowled
