Leyland won The Northern League First Division title in a thrilling final day of Northern League Action.
DARWEN v LEYLAND
David Makinson's team won the league after a 116 run victory over Darwen and Barrow were Runners up for second consecutive season after their game at Blackpool was abandoned.
Leyland were put in by the hosts on what was a sunny afternoon at Birch Hall, David Makinson's side recovered from a relatively slow start at 63-3, which included the prize wicket of Luis Reece who fell for 33.
However Henry Thompsons top scoring 40 with 38 by Karl Cross enabled Leyland to declare on 201-6 in 44.5 overs. Neil Cordingley was Darwen's best bowler with 3-38.

Leyland skipper David Makinson was delighted by his teams success and said
"What a great feeling to win our second 1st Division Title in 4 years, The end of Saturday's game was a bit surreal, we were obviously trying to keep up to date with the scores from Blackpool, whilst ensuring we concentrated on beating Darwen. We were hearing tales that they were playing, then they were off, then back on again, so the instant we won the match, we were not sure if we could celebrate.
Confirmation came soon afterwards to the joy of all the lads and our loyal specators. I can only imagine how the Barrow lads must feel and I do have a little sympathy for their captain Daryl Wearing.
There is no doubt that the title win is a result of a great team effort. Many of the lads have contributed with either runs or wickets and we have not had to rely on one or two to win us the game.
Someone has always been willing to fight and the ability to win us games. Saturdays game was a perfect example of this. We raced to 200 in 44 overs, with no batsman scoring more than 40. we then used five of our bowlers to bowl them out.
It is great to play in a team where we all get as much pleasure out of seeing others succeed as we do ourselves. This runs throughout the club and will hopefully ensure that we can remain strong for many years.
The fact our 2nds have finished a close 3rd and won the cup with a very young team is a great sign for the future"
BLACKPOOL v BARROW
Whilst Leyland were left to celebrate, Barrow were left dissapointed as they missed out on the Northern League title after their game at Blackpool fell victim to the rain.
Barrow have now missed out on the Northern League title for a second consecutive season despite sitting at the top of the Division for a large part of the campaign.
