It was another afternoon of drama in The Northern Cricket League, as Terry Hunte scored his 20,000th Northern league run in the defeat to Netherfield, whilst league leaders Barrow go 12 points clear at the top of Division One following their win at St Annes.
In other news Darwen announced that they would not be retaining the services of Professional Alan Kruger for the 2014 campaign as Darwen crashed to defeat at home to Chorley.
DIVISION ONE
KENDAL v NETHERFIELD
It was a special moment at Shap Road for Kendal's Terry Hunte who has now scored more than20,000 Northern League Runs. Hunte required just 10 runs for this fantastic achievement reaching this landmark when Kendal batted first.
Terry Huntes exploits were somewhat spoiled as Kendal lost by 4 wickets to Netherfield in the local derby.
Netherfield, who were keen to push on from their last two results had Kendal in trouble at 34-4. Nick Lewthwaite started the recovery with 56 off 75 balls , then Adam Cowperthwaite and Chris Miller frustrated Netherfield with a crucial 49 run partnership, as Cowperthwaite scored an unbeaten 36, with Chris Miller chipping in with 15 runs.

The hosts ending up on 186-8 off the allotted 50 overs. Perhaps more runs than what Netherfield wanted to concede as the Kendal innings came to an end.

In the reply, Netherfield started steadily and despite Kendal putting the pressure on, Colin Ackermann remained composed with a top scoring 65 off 92 balls, putting the visitors in a good position at 155-6.
Craig Walmsley's unbeaten 14 off 14 balls and Brad Earl's unbeaten 17 off 25 balls seeing Netherfield home in 47.3 over's as they closed on 189-6.

ST ANNES v BARROW
Barrow go tweleve points clear at the top of Division One following a massive 9 wicket win at St Annes.
The league leaders have certainly been the dominant force this campaign and proved their worth as league leaders with a very good display against an improving St Anne's team.
Barrow putting the hosts in had them 12 for 5 before stands between Nanthesh Kiruparan 56 off 107 balls and professional Toby Bulcock 28 and then Callum Jones 28 saw St Annes reach 138 in 44.4 overs, Patrick Allington impressed with figures of 3-31 and Jonathan Wells proving his worth as professional returning figures of 3-60.
Barrow replied in style winning the game in just 27.2 overs, Dean Williams with an unbeaten 50 off 77 balls and Ryan Brown with an unbeaten 45 off 27 balls seeing the leaders to another win.
MORECAMBE v LANCASTER
The local derby between Morecambe and Lancaster ended in Morecambe getting the better of a winning draw.

Morecambe skipper Mark Woodhead opened with a top scoring knock of 80 off 144 balls and with contributions from Vishal Tripathi 34 off 49 balls, and Tom Barnfield scoring 32 off 88 ballssaw them closing on 185-9 off their 50 overs

Lancaster bowled well, with Jannisar Kahn, Liam Moffat and Scott Sparks taking 3 wickets each,

In reply Lancaster had to settle for a score of 162-8, their runs were shared about, Danny Welbourne with 25 off 48, Jannisar Kahn with 23 and Jamie Heywood with 20.
Tommy Clough with 3-56 was the home sides best bowler and Morecambe will feel the happier of the two sides.

PRESTON v LEYLAND
Leyland remain in contention at the top with a convincing 120 run win at bottom side Preston.
The visitors closed on a convincing 204 for 5 off 50 overs Henry Thompson with a dominant 92 and Daniel Lamb with 68. Preston's Imtiaz Matak taking 4-67.

DARWEN v CHORLEY
It was a dramatic afternoon at Birch Hall where Darwen announced that Professional Alan Kruger would not be retained for the 2014 season as the hosts crashed to a 5 wicket defeat to Chorley.
Things were looking very bleak when Darwen were whittled down to 22-8 the Chris Wade added a little bit of respectability to the score with a top scoring 57 batting down at number 10 and Darwen were all out for 116 in 46.3 overs
Chorley bowled well through Billy Smith as he returned figures of 5-33, supported by Chris Harty with figures of 4-22,
In reply Chorley reached their target 117-5 in 43.5 overs, David Fisher was unbeaten on 68 winning the game for the visitors, Darwen's best bowler was Chris Wade with 3-33.
FLEETWOOD v BLACKPOOL
Blackpool defeated Fleetwood by 25 runs in the Fylde coast derby, a victory which looked unlikely when the visitors were all out for 118 in 48.2 overs. Gurmandeep Bains and Luke Smith with 27 runs. Fleetwood 's professional Ian Holland once again in the wickets with 7-42.
In reply Fleetwood were stunned as they were all out for 93 in 33 overs, Ben Eckton taking 3-29 with Jamie Thomson and Andy Furniss weighing in with 2 wickets each.

Division 2 Round Up:
Morecambe remain top, whilst St Annes won the big game with Barrow, Bottom of the table Preston held high flying Leyland to a draw at Fox Lane and Netherfield defeated Kendal.
BARROW v ST ANNES
St Annes defeated Barrow by 4 wickets at Ernest Pass, the host side restricted to 119-6 off 45 overs. Phil Renney top scoring with 30, and Joshua Allington made an unbeaten 24.
The visitors wickets shared around, David Bartholomew and Richard Thomas taking 2 wickets each with Ian Baldwin and Thomas Bradley taking 1 wicket each.
In reply, David Bartholomew top scored with 42 as St Annes eased home in 38 overs, closing on 122-6. Liam Walker taking 3-21 for the hosts
CHORLEY v DARWEN
Chorley overcame Darwen by 24 runs, the hosts all out for 126 in 43.3 overs, Adam Peacock with 58 off 133 balls. Nathan Jackson and Ronald Nairey with 3 wickets each for Darwen

LEYLAND v PRESTON
Leyland were left frustrated as they were held to a winning draw against bottom side Preston.
The hosts in command declaring on 205-6 in 44 overs, Jonathan Mote with 72 and Hamza Kahn with 32.
Preston hanging on in reply closing on 124-9, Amer Abbas Kahn with 29, Syed Ajmal Abbas Shah with 24 and Murtaza Hussain with 27. Alex Williams doing his best with 5-32 to achieve a Leyland victory
LANCASTER v MORECAMBE
Morecambe remain top of Division Two after a 42 run win at Lancaster. The visitors closing on 127-6 off 45 overs, Stuart Errington scoring 37 off 102 balls.
Lancaster were all out for 85 in 34.5 overs, Joe Atkinson with 45 for Lancaster and Richard Cupit taking 5-13 for Morecambe
NETHERFIELD v KENDAL
Netherfield defeated Kendal by 4 wickets at Parkside Road. Kendal all out for 211, Darren Nightingale top scoring with 90. Stuart Dixon with 3-37 was Netherfield's best bowler.
In reply Mike Dugdale top scored with 93 and Matthew Goodall hitting the winning runs in the last over was unbeaten on 15 as Netherfield reached their winning target of 214-6.
BLACKPOOL v FLEETWOOD
Blackpool won by 8 wickets against Fleetwood at Stanley Park. Fleetwood closing on 131-6 off 45 overs. Andy Singleton unbeaten on 76 off 129 balls. Michael Tidmas returning figures of 3-30 for the hosts
Blackpool knocked the runs off in 41 overs, reaching 132-2, Daniel Dixon unbeaten on 79 off 125 balls and Sam Owen unbeaten on 27 off 62 balls.
SUNDAY 11th AUGUST
BLACKPOOL v LEYLAND
Blackpool made it two wins in two days following a 6 wicket win over Leyland at Stanley Park.
Leyland closing on 130-8 off 45 overs,Tom Reece top scoring with 46 off 88 balls. Jamie Thomson taking 4-33 for the hosts.
Blackpool achieved their winning total of 133-4 in 43.4 overs thanks to an unbeaten knock of 50 off 110 balls by Sam Owen
