Barrow strengthen their grip at the top, as both Leyland and Lancaster dropped points in the latest round of Northern League action.
DIVISION ONE
Barrow v Preston
Barrow extended their lead at the top of Division One following a 9 wicket win over bottom side Preston.
Preston put up an improved performance and they made 182-6 in their 50 overs.
They got off to a bad start losing both Ben Harrison and Yasin Boda as they struggled to 5-2, Jonathan Wells bowling Harrison whilst Daryl Wearing dismissed Boda out LBW
Barrow then grabbed a third Preston wicket when Jonathan Wells bowled Sajid Patel. Preston were now 73-3 and fought back through Soyeb Dukanwala (81 off 88 balls) and Yasin Patel (29 off 38 balls) as they pushed on to 140.
Barrow broke the partnership when Dukanwala was caught by Tom Milligan off the bowling of Greg Reynolds. From that point on Barrow got on top and with Jonathan Wells taking his third wicket as Miya Ahmed Lunat was caught for 9 by Dean Williams, Yasin Patel was bowled for 29 by Greg Reynolds with Preston closing on 182-6.
In reply Barrow's Jonathan Wells hit an unbeaten 103, easing the hosts to the victory target only losing Dean Williams for 25 off 33 with Ryan Brown coming in and scoring an unbeaten 42 seeing Barrow home on 181 -1 in 27.2 overs.
Lancaster v Kendal
Inform Lancaster suffered a surprise defeat as they lost by 6 wickets to Kendal at Lune Road.
Lancaster put in by the visitors struggled as Sub Professional Pieter Malan ripped through the hosts batting returning figures of 6-16.
Lancaster got off to the worst possible start at 0-1 losing Charlie Swarbrick, with Malan striking first blood. Jamie Heywood fell for 6 with Adam Cowperthwaite bowling him, Lancaster falling to 8-2.
The wickets continued to fall as Pieter Malan dismissed Billy Swarbrick, Jannisar Kahn, Alex Metcalfe and Danny Welbourne as Lancaster were left stunned on 30-6 Lancaster then lost further wickets, as Keiran Moffatt fell to Chris Miller whilst Samuel Moorby was run out, Lancaster in dire straights at 40-8

Ben Simm did hit a top scoring 20-29 balls but that was only a brief respite with Malan striking for his sixth wicket before Liam Moffat was caught by Oliver Field off the bowling of Chris Miller and Lancaster were all out for 66.
In reply Kendal lost Darren Moore and Pieter Malan as they struggled a little on 19-2 as Jannisar Kahn and Liam Moffat struck. Ryan Nelson followed bowled by Ben Simm and Darren Braithwaite was caught by Kieran Moffat off Liam Moffat.
Terry Hunte who is now 10 runs short of 20,000 Northern League Runs hit an unbeaten 39 off 27 balls as Kendal picked up a good 12 point win reaching their target of 70 - 4 in 14.2 overs

Leyland v Blackpool
Leyland had to settle for a winning draw with Blackpool at The Stanning Memorial Ground.
The hosts batting first closed on 203-8 off 50 overs, Daniel Lamb top scoring with 89 off 124 balls, whilst Sub Professional Brett Pelser scored 48 off 90 balls. Blackpool's Ben Eckton had figures of 4-30 whilst Steven Croft returned figures of 4-96
In reply Blackpool held on closing on 176-9. Alex Smith batting down the order hit an unbeaten 68 off 78 balls with Steven Croft scoring 43 off 56 balls, Andrew Makinson returned with figures of 4-18 for Leyland
Netherfield v Fleetwood
Netherfield Captain Marc Brown and Fleetwood Professional Ian Holland both hit Centuries as Netherfield got a winning draw at Parkside Road.

The hosts batting well and closed on 269-4 withMarc Brown 147 off 158 balls, Colin Ackermann hitting a half century as he scored 52 off 56 balls and John Huck hitting an unbeaten 36 off 29 balls. Ian Holland took 2-82 for the visitors.
In reply Fleetwood closed on 212-8, Ian Holland with 100 off 109 balls and Mike Clinning with 34 off 60 balls the main contributors to the Fleetwood total. Nathan Chambers was Netherfields best bowler taking 3-48

Chorley v St Annes
St Annes won by 3 wickets at Windsor Park, Chorley batting first made 173-9 in their allotted overs Iain Critchley top scoring with 31 off 58 balls, Matthew Grindley took 5-48 off 18 overs for St Annes.
St Annes got over the line in 47.4 overs reaching 175-7, Lukman Vahaluwala top scoring with an unbeaten 97 off 138 balls. Chorley's Billy Smith returning figures of 4-35.
Darwen v Morecambe
Darwen got the winning draw with Morecambe at Birch Hall, Christopher Clarke top scoring with 68 as Darwen closed on 185-7. Tommy Clough taking 3-49 for Morecambe.
Morecambe were 152-8 at close of play, Mark Woodhead top scoring with 48 and Vishal Tripathi with 33. Alan Kruger and Chris Wade with 2 wickets each for the hosts.

Morecambe, Barrow and St Annes continue to battle it out for The Division Two crown with all 3 getting wins in what is a close race for the Division Two title
Morecambe v Darwen
Morecambe eased to a comfortable 113 run over Darwen to remain top of the league.
The leaders closing on 222-3 off 45 overs, Gareth Pedder with 86, Adam Derham 76 and Kallum Ahmed with 40.
In reply Darwen were bowled out for 109 in 39.5 overs, Irfan Qayyum with 3-14 and Gareth Pedder with 3-23 doing the damage for Morecambe
Preston v Barrow
It was also an easy afternoon for Barrow as they won at bottom side Preston by 131 runs. Barrow declaring on 212-5 in the 42 over. Toby Mowat with 74, Lee Hogg 56 and Rhys Studt scoring 47 their leading scorers.
Preston were all out for 81 in just 29 overs, Patrick Allington in red hot form returning figures of 7-27. Javaid Hussain top scoring with 40 for the hosts
St Annes v Chorley
St Annes remain one of the contenders for the title following a 6 wicket win over Chorley at Vernon Road.
Chorley were all out for 119 in 43.2 overs. Alex Weetman top scoring with 42 off 118 and David Bartholomew with 4-23 the most successful St Annes bowler
St Annes in reply knocking off the required runs in 28.4 overs closing on 123-5, Paul Wilks with 27 off 35 balls and David Bartholomew 24 off 34 balls seeing St Annes home
Kendal v Lancaster
Kendal make light work of Lancaster at Shap Road, winning by 9 wickets. A depleted Lancaster were all out for 60 in 22.3 overs. Mike Dugdale taking 3 wickets.
The hosts racing home in just 11.4 overs closing on 61-1, Graham Baker top scoring with 38 no and Joseph Dodds unbeaten on 18
Fleetwood v Netherfield
Fleetwood had to settle for a winning draw with Netherfield. Scott Richardson hitting an unbeaten 108, with Wayne Clarke scoring 67 as the hosts closed on 238-3 off 45 overs. Brad Airey taking 2-63 for the visitors.
