Ben Simms 8 wicket haul helps Lancaster to victory

An afternoon of high drama as Leyland and Lancaster close in at the top, whilst both Barrow and Fleetwood suffer mixed afternoons

DIVISION ONE

Chorley v Barrow

Barrow were held to a winning draw at Chorley, a frustrating result for Daryl Wearing's team who are now only just a point ahead of Leyland.

The league leaders put themselves in at Windsor Park and posted a score of 196-8. Australian Professional Jonathan Wells top scoring on 69 off 102 balls.

Michael Wellings with 30 off 58 balls and Ryan Brown 28 off 30 balls made good contributions to the final total

Chorley's Professional Gaurav Dhar returned figures of 3-53

The hosts struggled in their reply being 118-8 at one stage, however Chorley's captain Andy Holdsworth lead from the front top scoring with 42 off 103 balls ably assisted by Iain Critchley 39 off 36 leaving Barrow frustrated as Chorley closed on 128-8 off their 50 overs.

The wickets were shared around, Daryl Wearing taking 3-21. Jonathan Wells 2-19,Gary Collins 2-39 and Greg Reynolds with 1-23.

Leyland v Netherfield

Leyland are now just one point behind Barrow after a 61 run win over Netherfield at Fox Lane.

Leyland were all out for 157 in 47.5 overs, Luis Reece top scoring with 39 off 75 balls, with Thomas Murray 29 off 50 balls and Nathan McDonnell 23 off 38 balls also posting notable scores. Netherfield Professional Colin Ackermann took 4-33.

With a low total to defend, Leyland bowled and fielded well and Netherfield were all out for 96 in just 28.4 overs. Dale Jones ripping through the visitors returning figures of 6-37

Darwen v Fleetwood

A Chris Wade hat trick inspired Darwen to a shock 92 run victory over Fleetwood at Birch Hall

Darwen batted first and made 191 - 9 in their 50 overs, John Cordingley with 58 and Christopher Clarke the main run makers. Ian Holland was once again in the wickets and took 4-46

Fleetwod struggled and only Ian Holland 60 and Adam Paker 17 reached double figures.

Chris Wade's hat trick included Ian Holland, Lee Jones and Keiran McGann and resulted in Fleetwood being all out for 99 in just 25 overs.

Lancaster v Blackpool

Lancaster are closing in at the top after a 83 run victory over Blackpool at Lune Road.

Lancaster won the toss and decided to bat and were all out for 168 in the 50th over. Jannisar Kahn scoring 51 off 96 balls and Alex Metcalfe 41 off 88 balls being the main contributors. Ash Moreau had the magnificent figures of 6-48 for Blackpool

Lancaster skipper Ben Simm had a great afternoon taking 8-24, as Blackpool were all out in reply for 85.

Kendal v St Annes

St Annes had a winning draw at Kendal, the visitors closing on 239-8, Nathan Armstong 80 off 86 balls and Lukman Vahaluwala with 65 off 83 the main St Annes run makers. Sub Professional Adil Raza took 3-42 for Kendal and Chris Miller with figures of 3-69.

Kendal replied with 188-7, Terry Hunte with 52 off 51 balls, Kendal holding on thanks to Darren Braithwaite 22no off 64 balls and Adam Cowperthwaite 25no off 56 balls

Matthew Grindley with 3-29 and Toby Bulcock 3-53 the main icket takers for Andy Kelletts team

Morecambe v Preston

Morecambe comfortably defeated Preston by 168 runs at Woodhill Lane. The hosts declaring on 264-2 off 43 overs.

Vishal Tripathi and Lewis Edge were devastating form against Preston, both were not out, Vishal Tripathi 121 off 119 balls and Lewis Edge 112 off 113 balls enabling Morecambe to declare after 43 overs.

Division 2 Round Up:

Here is a round up of all the action in Division 2 of The Northern Cricket League

St Annes v Kendal

St Annes remain 2nd in the league after a 6 wicket win over Kendal at Vernon Road. Kendal closing on 189-6, Richard Herron with 65 off 102 balls and Shane Hyland 65 off 74 balls were Kendal's top scorers. David Bartholomew taking 4-31 for the hosts

St Annes knocked off the runs in 31.1 overs, Luke Wilks with 51 off 74 balls setting the platform for Kushan Mirando with an unbeaten 55 off 32 balls to see St Annes home on 195-4

Barrow v Chorley

Barrow exrend their lead at top of the League after a 46 run win over Chorley at Ernest Pass.

Barrow were all out for 145 in 39.2 overs. Guy Heffernan saving the day with a top score of 48 off 74 balls and Glen Kermode also batting well for his 30 off 47 balls.

Chorley's Edwin Moulton taking 7 Barrow wickets for 36 runs

In reply Chorley were all out for 99 in 27.4 overs, Paul Riley taking 5-32 and Ryan Gilmour with 3-24.

Preston v Morecambe

Morecambe won at Preston by 13 runs, 33 off by Steve Mawson and an unbeaten 40 by Matthew Derham saw Morecambe close on 140-7 after their 45 overs

Preston made a magnificent effort thanks to Intekhab Alam with an unbeaten 42 but were all out for 127 in 38.5 overs, Gulam Maje taking 4-29 and Adam Derham 3-17 doing the damage for Morcambe

Blackpool v Lancaster

Blackpool eased to a 110 run success over Lancaster. Sam Owen 41 off 82 balls, Joshua Boyne with 41 off 50 balls and Tom Jefferson with 39 off 72 balls the main contributors as Blackpool closed on 172-6

Lancaster were all out for 62 in 35 Overs, Tom Williamson with 26 off 60 balls their top scorer. Sam Owen taking 5-16 and Michael Tidmas with 4-10 for Blackpool

Netherfield v Leyland

Leyland won by 7 wickets at Netherfield, Netherfield started the game well racing to 52-0 thanks to the partnership between Nathan Dixon and Stephen Jones. Nathan Dixon top scoring with 52 and Stephen Jones with 22.

However once Jones had gone the rest followed as Netherfield were all out for 123. Leylands Sam Oldham with 3-20 and Will Jacques 3-33 destroying the Netherfield innings

The visitors reaching 124-3 in 36.5 overs, Tom Reece with an unbeaten 45. Jonathan Mote 26 setting the hosts up for the win, with Sam Oldham also contributing with 28. Stuart Nixon taking 2-12 for the hosts

Fleetwood v Darwen

Darwen won by 8 wickets at Fleetwood. Fleetwood were bowled out for a lowly 86 in 38.2 overs. Mutib Ali taking 3-20 and Ronald Nairey with 3-26. Alex Ryder top scoring with 29 for the hosts

Reece Davies's unbeaten 46 and Scott Jackson's unbeaten 39 for the visitors saw them race home in 35.1 overs reaching their target of 87-2.
