DIVISION ONE

Barrow fall to Fleetwood as both Leyland and Lancaster close in at the top in another action packed afternoon of Northern League action

Barrow v Fleetwood

League Champions Fleetwood closed in on the top 3 with a dramatic 1 wicket win at Barrow

Barrow batting first struggled as they were all out for 115 in 48.5 overs. Ian Holland doing the damage taking 4-47, Sam Bell 3-25 and Joe Bell 3-15 also impressed. Ryan Brown batting in vein with 36 off 94 balls

In reply to Barrow's total, Fleetwood were pushed all the way, mainly thanks to the bowling of Jonathan Wells who returned figures of 5-58

Ian Holland's unbeaten 62 off 110 balls came at a vital time as he kept things ticking over as Fleetwood edged home in 47.2 overs reaching 116-9

Morecambe v Leyland

Second placed Leyland closed in on Barrow with a comfortable 9 wicket win over Morecambe at Woodhill Lane.

Leyland who could close the gap even further on Sunday when they host the Lancashire Colts restriced Morecambe to 160-5.

Andrew Makinson bowled well with figures of 2-18 off eleven overs, whilst Dale Jones had figures of 2-52.

Morecambe captain Lewis Edge offered the most resistance with an unbeaten 47 off 60, Tom Barnfield also batted well with an unbeaten 37 off 30 balls.

Leyland eased home in 38 overs reaching 162-1, Luis Reece with an unbeaten 72 off 112 balls.

Henry Thompson setting the platform with 42 off 56 and Nathan McDonnell contributed with an unbeaten 35 off 61 balls.

Lancaster v Darwen

Lancaster's good season continues following a 52 run over Darwen at Lune Road. The hosts were all out for 142 in 42.5 overs, Charlie Swarbrick with an unbeaten 75. Darwen Professional Alan Kruger took 6-72

Darwen were bowled out for 90 in 38.5 overs, Iain Perrieman taking 4-19 and Scott Sparks with 4-15.

Chorley v Kendal

Stu Parkins reign as captain got off to a stunning start as Kendal won by 10 wickets at Chorley.

Former captain Chris Miller playing his first game after standing down from the role, ripped through Chorley's batting with figures of 6-17, as the hosts were all out for 89 in 35.4 overs.

Kendal eased home in 21.4 overs racing to 91-0. Darren Moore unbeaten on 52 off 65 balls with Ryan Nelson scoring an unbeaten 33 of 65 balls.

Netherfield v St Annes

St Annes won by 56 runs at Netherfield. The visitors setting a score of 229-8 off 50 overs. Toby Bulcock with 59 off 54 balls and Matthew Taaffe batted well for 41 off 75 balls.

Sajid Nalbandh batting down the order hit 30 off 29 balls. Scott Clement taking 3-43 for the hosts.

In reply Netherfield were all out for 177 in 44.3 overs, Colin Ackermann top scoring with 79 off 85 balls. Toby Bulcock in red hot form with figures of 5-55, with Lukman Vahaluwala taking 4-51.

Blackpool v Preston

Blackpool got back on the winning trail following a 10 wicket win over Preston at Stanley Park.

Preston were all out for 90 in 46.1 overs, Richard Gleeson with 3-37 and Steven Mercer 3-27.

When Blackpool batted John Mounsey replied with an unbeaten 51 off 75 balls, with Matthew Houston unbeaten on 39 off 82 balls, reaching their target of 102-0 in 26.3 overs

Sunday 30th June

Leyland v Lancashire Colts

The Lancashire Colts pulled off a surprise 8 wicket victory over second placed Leyland at Fox Lane.

Leyland who opted to bat first were restricted to 164-9 off 50 overs. Luis Reece top scoring with 60 off 82 balls. Daniel Lamb also contributing with 37 off 84 balls with Matthew Critchley taking 4-32 for the Colts

In reply Haseeb Hameed's unbeaten 62 off 143 balls and Logan Weston's unbeaten 48 off 61 balls saw the Colts home in 46.4 overs reaching 166-2.

Division Two (2nd XI)

Division 2 Round Up:

Barrow, St Annes and Darwen battle it at the top of Division Two, whilst Netherfield and Preston's struggles continue.

Fleetwood v Barrow

A Joseph Allington hat trick at the end of the first innings was one of the main highlights for Barrow as they defeated Fleetwood by 5 wickets at Broadwater.

Fleetwood were bowled out for 128 in 40.3 overs, Joseph Allington 3-22 and Lee Hogg with 3-15

Barrow easing home in 41.4 overs reaching 129-5, Lee Hogg with 37, Ian Allington unbeaten on 27, with Joshua Allington unbeaten on 28.

St Annes v Netherfield

St Annes kept up the pressure on league leaders Barrow after a comfortable 9 wicket win over Netherfield at Vernon Road.

Netherfield were all out for 133 in 39.2 overs, Charles Boucher taking 3-7. Richard Thomas, Mitchell Bolus and Ben Willis taking 2 wickets each, whilst David Bartholomew ended with 1 wicket.

Steven Wilson top scored with 29 off 45 balls and Stephen Jones made 23 off 61 balls.

St Annes raced home in 22 overs, Mark Emsley with an unbeaten 81 and Nanthesh Kiruparen unbeaten on 45, reaching 136-1.

Darwen v Lancaster

Darwen were left frustrated as they had to settle for a winning draw against Lancaster.

The hosts declaring in 44 overs on 162-6, Gary Jackson with 56 and Darius Ainslie with 31. Robert Dunstan taking 3-45 for the visitors.

Lancaster were hanging on at the close on 120-9, Steven Armstrong's unbeaten 35 the main resistance. Graham Ainslie taking 4-21 and Zac Whalley with 3-29 were the main Darwen wicket takers.

Preston v Blackpool

Blackpool defeated Preston by 55 runs at West Cliff. Blackpool closing on 177-5, Simon Long with 44 and Benjamin Heath 37. Amer Abbas Kahn taking 3-28 for the hosts

Preston were all out for 122 in 40 overs (further details to follow)

Kendal v Chorley

Chorley won by 9 wickets at Kendal. The hosts closing on 124-9. Darren Nightingale top scoring with 36 and the returning Graham Baker ending on 32 off 49 balls.

The visitors sharing the wickets,through Adam McCullagh, Ian Oakes, Michael Mead and Ian Mawdesley all taking 2 wickets.

Chorley easing home in 26.2 overs closing on 125-1.

Leyland v Morecambe

Leyland ended with a winning draw against Morecambe. Jake Peake made 40 as Leyland closed on 138-8 off 45 overs. Morecambes Jake Smith took 3-29 and Gulam Maje 3-28.

The visitors closed on 115-7. Steve Mawson and Gert Maartens with 27. Leyland's Steven Pallet taking 3-19.
