Division 1 Action
Barrow taste defeat, whilst Fleetwood, Leyland and Netherfield close the gap, At the bottom the problems continue for Lancaster as their captain resigns with Lancaster tasting defeat
Here is my review of a very eventful afternoon in The Northern Cricket League:
Barrow v Kendal
League Leaders Barrow suffered a surprise home set back after losing by 21 runs to Kendal at Ernest Pass.
It was a bizarre game which was reduced to 40 over's aside, due to a dangerous wicket,
The game started as a 50 over a side contest, Kendal batted and were 12-2, before the batsmen complained about the surface, which was deemed too be too dangerous.
It was then agreed that a new wicket would be cut, with the game reduced to 40 over's aside.
Kendal won the toss and second time and put themselves in, as they posted a score of 171-6.
Jamie How top scoring with 90 off 112 balls, Daryl Wearing with 4 for 85.
Liam Livingstone hit 51 off 38 in Barrows reply which included 5 consecutive sixes off of Jamie How
However Nick Lewthwaite was the hero as he returned figures of 5-17, as Barrow were bowled out for 150 in 31.1 over's. Chris Miller also returned good figures of 3-42.
Netherfield v Blackpool:
Netherfield Professional Cobus Pienaar hit his 2nd century of the season, in Netherfield's winning draw with Blackpool at Parkside Road.
Pienaar hit an unbeaten 114 off 110 balls, with a 3rd wicket partnership of 162 between the professional and Chris Williams who hit 93 in 60 balls,
Netherfield declaring on a commanding total of 299-4 off 48 over's

Blackpool got off to the worst possible start falling to 3-2, as Stuart Nixon claimed all 3 wickets.
However with Blackpool on the ropes Paul Danson and Andy Furniss formed a crucial partnership of 83 in 25.3 over's, with Danson top scoring on 46, whilst Furniss made 45.
Netherfield got back into the game however Simon Long's unbeaten 34 and James Smith's 36 steadied things for the visitors.
The hosts did put pressure on Blackpool with the visitors 9 wickets down going into the last over, however Ben Eckton and Simon Long saw the over out as they held on for the draw reaching 176-9 off 52 overs
Chorley v Leyland:
Leyland remain 4th after a comfortable 8 wicket win at Chorley, Professional Brett Pelser with figures of 5-33 as Chorley were shot out for 87.
The one bit of controversy was the dismissal of Chorley's Alex Howarth who was given out for obstructing the field
Leyland chased the target losing just 2 wickets with Adam Coates top scoring with an unbeaten 38 off 45 balls as they reached 88-2 in 23 overs.
Preston v Darwen:
It was all square at West Cliff as Preston tied with Darwen, the visitors all out for 187,Shaun De Kock top scoring with 67,with Lukman Vahaluwala returning with figures of 6-53 and
Andrew Starkie returning with 4-56
In reply Preston were also all out for 187, Mohsin Mohdi, hitting a top score of 62,with Chris Wade returning figures of 7-45.
St Annes v Carnforth:
St Annes defeated Carnforth by 3 wickets at Vernon Road, Ryan Nelson 68 off 121, Toby Bulcock hitting 47 off 91.
Dinuka Hettiarachchi was in the wickets again taking 5-67, as Carnforth made 198-8 off 50.
