Division 1 Action

There are new leaders at the top of The Northern League as Barrow shoot to the summit following their 72 run home win over Fleetwood

Barrow v Fleetwood

Barrow went into the game without their professional meaning that Werner Coetsee, deputized for the afternoon.
After Barrow were put in, they reached 167-7 off 50, a very good total, after a slow start to the game.
Liam Livingstone top scored with 41 off 69, whilst the lower order made crucial runs, with an unbeaten knock of 30 off 37 by Darren Collin, and an unbeaten 15 off 16 by Daryl Wearing.

Fleetwoods Mike Clinning returned the best figures, for Mat Clarks team with 3-45.

In reply,. Fleetwood lost 4 early wickets, however they recovered reaching 52-4, until a stunning catch on the boundary by Darren Collin,swung the game back in Barrows favour.
From that point on Barrow went on to bowl Fleetwood out for 95, with Gary Collins taking 4-45!. Daryl Wearing added more wickets to his name, after returning figures of 3-15

Netherfield v Lancaster

Netherfield are just 2 points behind Barrow, after a comfortable 136 run victory over Lancaster at Parkside Road.

Crucial first innings partnerships were the key for the hosts, as openers Marc Brown and Chris Parry put on a useful first wicket partnership of 92 in 19.1 overs.
Despite losing a couple wickets, another crucial partnership between John Huck and Marc Brown kept Netherfield on target for a more than comfortable total.
Marc Brown fell 9 short of a century as he was bowled by Iain Perrieman for 91. as Netherfield reached 238 for 6 off 50. Ben Simm was in the wickets for the visitors taking 4-91

The reply started in disasterous fashion for Lancaster as they lost Danny Welbourne for a 1st ball duck after being caught by Marc Brown off a Cobus Pienaars delivery.
Things got worse as further wickets fell leaving Lancaster on the brink, however Damian Gudgeon and Scott Littler put on a partnership of 24 as they faced 108 balls in 24 overs.
However Chris Williams broke the stubborn partnership when he bowled Scott Littler for 14. Professional Cobus Pienaar then grabbed the final wicket of Liam Moffatt giving Netherfield a crucial win.

Chris Williams (3-37) and Cobus Pienaar (3-34) returned the best figures, however crucial 2 wicket spells from Stuart Nixon (2-10) and Marc Hadwin (2-13) also came at a good time as Netherfield keep their good run of form intact

Preston v St Annes

At West Cliff St Annes struggles continue as they fell to a surprise 14 run defeat to Preston. The current league champions would have fancied their chances, after bowling Preston out for 82 in 42.1 overs. Professional Dinuk Hettiarachchi, taking an impressive 7-28.

However St Annes faltered in their reply as they were bowled out for 68, with Lukman Vahaluwala taking 7-21.

Chorley v Blackpool

Blackpools good run of form continued after their 22 run victory at Chorley, Richard Gleeson's 2nd taking 6-23, helped dismiss the hosts for 101. Gleeson has now taken 28 wickets in the league, and continues his good form for the season.

Earlier Blackpool made 123-9 with Professional Dale Deeb the top scorer with 43 off 91 balls, whilst Chorley got the most joy from Iain Critchley (3-30) and Gaurav Dhar (3-45).

Leyland v Carnforth

Leyland kept themselves in contention with the challengers, after a 78 run victory over Carnforth.

Henry Thompson hit an unbeaten 65-136 to help the host with a total of 136-8. Carnforth's Dickon Morris returned figures of 5-79 with professional Toby Bulcock taking 3-47.

Carnforth were out in double quick time for 58 thanks to a 7 wicket haul for Luis Reece who ended up with figures of 7-20.

The match between Morecambe and Darwen was abandoned without a ball being bowled

Division 2 Round Up:

St Annes v Preston

St Annes defeated Preston by 9 wickets, 4-26 by Jake Sunderland and 3-25 by Matthew Taaffe bowling Preston out for 114. In reply St Annes made 115 losing just 1 wicket, thanks to Mark Emsleys knock of 68.

Blackpool v Chorley

At Stanley Park, Chorley defeated Blackpool by 5 wickets,the hosts reaching 148-7, Richard Flood taking 3-47. Blackpool's Adrian Darlington (32 off 48) and Benjamin Heath (31-52) the main run makers.

Chorley reached their victory target, thanks to a knock of 64 off 100 by Captain Iain Mawdesley, as well as an unbeaten 39 off 35 by Kevin Howarth, as Chorley reached 149-6 in the 48th over.

Carnforth v Leyland

Leyland defeated Carnforth by 83 runs at Lodge Quarry,the visitors posted 250-6 off 50, 65- 91 by Karl Cross and 68-88 by Liam Hurt the main run getters.

Carnforth put in a spirited reply with Neil Dugdale hitting 52 off 76, however 3 wickets a piece from Steven Pallett, Liam Hurt and Karl Cross, bowled Carnforth out for 167 in 50 overs.

Darwen v Morecambe

Darwen picked up a much needed win after defeating Morecambe by 78 runs at Birch Hall.

The hosts made 174 for 6 off 50, Sam Munns making 40 off 72, James Rafferty the main bowler with 4-52

In reply Morecambe were all out for 89, Michael Horsfield taking 4 wickets, including a 3 wicket maiden.

Fleetwod v Barrow

Barrow won at Fleetwood, 4-18 by Anthony Ellison dismissed Barrow for 92. However 5-22 by Patrick Allington helped Barrow to victory bowling Fleetwood out for 75.

Lancaster v Netherfield

And finally Netherfield got the better of Lancaster at Lune Road,winning by 69 runs. Shane Dixon taking 6-21. Mike Dugdale also hit 48 for the visitors, with Philip Sparrow taking 6-34 for the hosts
