Only few games survive as rain sweeps through the Northern League:

Division 1 Action

Chor;ley v Morecambe

Chorley survived the rain to defeat Morecambe by 39 runs at Windsor Park. The game was reduced to 40 overs aside as play commenced at 2.10pm.

After the hosts opted to bat, they were bowled out for 109 in 39.3 overs, with Richard Cupit returning figures of 5-37 and Umar Amin also impressing with figures of 4-35.

In reply Morecambe were all out for 70, with Iain Critchley (4-19) and Gaurav Dhar (4-19), the main wicket takers

Blackpool v Lancaster

At Stanley Park Blackpool just about survived the weather, in their winning draw with Lancaster.

Blackpool were put in by the visitors and made 147-4 off 42 overs, in a reduced overs encounter. South African Professional Dale Deeb, getting the most runs with 64-86 balls.

In reply Lancaster made 65-3 off 22 overs, as more overs were reduced following more rain

For everyone else they had to make do with 4 points each after seeing their games abandoned, here is a run down of the action that did occur in those matches:

Carnforth v Preston:

Preston's S Dukinwala hit 115 in 93 balls, with Carnforths Toby Bulcock taking 4-110, in the 1st innings which saw Preston post 266-8 off 46

In reply Carnforth were struggling on 60-3 off 16 with Lukman Vahaluwala taking 3-2, before rain brought an end to the afternoon

Fleetwood v Netherfield:

At Broadwater the top of the table battle between Fleetwood and Netherfield, was also washed out.

Fleetwood batted a full 50 overs and posted 183-7, Adam Parker making 60 off 59 balls.

Netherfields Chris Williams was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-52, with Marc Hadwin (2-19) and John Mason (1-35).

The visitors made 40-2 off 17 before the rain brought an end to the afternoons play

Kendal v Leyland:

Their were two breaks for rain before a terminal 3rd break in the encounter at Shap Road.

Jamie Heywood was unbeaten on 36, with Leyland's Dale Jones taking 3-37 in the 1st innings with Kendal on 91-4 off 27 when the rain ended the afternoon

St Annes v Barrow:

In a rain affected game, Barrow made 144-9 off their 44 overs. After an opening stand of 55, the visitors regularly lost wickets. Jonathan Miles (46 off 60 balls), whilst St Anne's Dinuka Hettiarachchi returned figures of 6-39.

St Anne's replied with 33-0 off 4 before a rain break came losing a further 8 overs, Play resumed for a further 3 overs (50-0) before rain came in again.

Division Two (2nd XI)

Division 2 Round Up:

Lancaster v Blackpool

At Lune Road, Blackpool defeated Lancaster 2nds by 8 wickets,Lancaster all out for 132 in 45.4 overs. Dinesh Ranga making 78 off 128, whilst Blackpools Ben Eckton took 4-13.

The visitors replied making 133-2 off 26overs, with Nicholas Wall making 60 off 24 balls!. The match was reduced to 49 overs, then 43

Leyland v Kendal

Leyland defeated Kendal by 4 wickets, in another rain affected game, with the overs reduced to 43.

Kendal made 106 for 6 off 43, Andrew Dugdale unbeaten on 28, with Leyland's Steven Pallett taking 3-22.

The hosts replied with Tom Reece's unbeaten 44, as they reached victory with 107-6 off 30.5 overs. Mike Dugdale (3-37) and C Vicars (3-20) returning good figures for the visitors.

Preston v Carnfirth

Preston 2nds home game with Carnforth also survived with Preston coming out on top by 2 wickets. Usman Alam taking 5-42 for the hosts as Carnforth were bolwed out for 132.

In reply Preston made 134 for 8, with Zahoor Ahmed making 41, Carnfoth's Mark Bradley returning figures of 5-38.

All the other games were rained off:

Barrow v St Annes:

Rhys Studt made 47 for the hosts, St Annes Jake Sunderland with 3-44, as Barrow made 156-4 off 40.

They were rained off twice between 1.18 and 2.08 and then rained off again at 4.15 pm, before the game was abandoned at 5.45pm

Morecambe v Chorley:

Barrie Smith returned figures of 6-37 for Morecambe as Chorley made 204-9 off 50. Ian Oakes (81) and John Hotham (51) getting most of the runs for the visitors.

In reply only 13 overs were played as Morecambe reached 41-2, before the rain

Netherfield v Fleetwood:

The match was rained off at 5.15. Netherfield opened and were 100-7 off 23, as Brad Earl top scored with an unbeaten 47. Anthony Ellison taking 4-32, various rain delays, brought an end to proceedings at Parkside Road.
