The latest round up of all the weekends Northern Cricket League Action

Kendal v Darwen:

Jamie How tops the early season batting charts after scoring a second consecutive century in Kendal's winning draw with Darwen at Shap Road. The test star, who now has 288 runs from just 2 rounds ended unbeaten on 128.

How's 128 came off 100 balls. Whilst Jamie Heywood also impressed hitting 64 off 148. Darwen were struggling to get both How and Heywood out as they put on 157 for the 2nd wicket, as Kendal made 228-2!

6 over's were lost in the second innings due to the rain as Darwen posted 155-8, with Stu Parkin taking 4-36. Kendal piled on the pressure but just couldn't get the final few wickets as Darwen held on for the draw

St Annes v Chorley:

Chorley picked up a winning draw at St Anne's, after posting a 1st innings score of 241 for 5, Will Moulton top scoring on 58 off just 40 balls. Moultons fifty came off 37 balls. Jack Caterall also hit 47 off 87 balls, whilst St Anne's sub pro Martin Walters took 3-55.

In reply St Anne's reached199-6 with Atiq Uz Zaman hitting a century as he made 109 off 129 balls. Play was stopped in the 42 over for several minutes after an Injury to Charles Boucher. Chorley's Ian Critchley was the top wicket taker taking 4-47 as St Anne's closed on 199-6.



Will Moulton hits out against Martin Walters

Fleetwood v Carnforth:

At Broadwater, Fleetwood defeated Carnforth by seven wickets; Sam Bell took 4-17 bowling Carnforth out for 80.

In reply Fleetwood cruised home to 81-3 with Mike Clinning top scoring on 31!

Morecambe v Netherfield:

At Woodhill Lane, Netherfield lost by 3 runs to Morecambe in a thrilling encounter!

Morecambe opened and posted 148-8, with Tom Barnfield top scoring on 38, for Netherfield the wickets came with 3-36 by former Morecambe player Chris Williams and 3 for 31 by John Mason.

In reply Morecambe Professional Umar Amin took 6-24, as they bowled Netherfield out in 47.4 over's for 138!. John Huck (33), and John Mason (36), the main run makers for the visitors.

Barrow v Blackpool:

It was a low scoring encounter at The Ernest Pass as Barrow defeated by 3 wickets. Sub professional Travis Townsend took 5-20 in the first innings to bowl out for 85.

In reply Barrow reached 86-7 with Blackpools Richard Gleeson taking 5-39

Lancaster v Preston:

In the game at Lune Road Preston captain and Professional Lukman Vahaluwala put on stunning display as his side defeated Lancaster by 48 runs.

Vahaluwala made 76 runs in the 1st innings helping his side to 149-9 off 50, and then went on to take 5-25 in the 2nd innings, bowling Lancaster out for 101!

Iain Perrieman was the top bowler for the hosts taking 4-36!

Sunday 22nd Arpril 2012:

Leyland vs Lancashire Colts:

On Sunday Leyland went top of the league after a 145 run victory over the Lancashire Colts

Batting first they posted 229-7 in a game reduced to 47 over's due to rain!. With good contributions from Brett Pelser 45 off 41, Henry Thompson 44 off 56 and Luis Reece 36 off 52.

In reply the Colts were bowled out for 84 in 37.1 over's, David Makinson the stand out bowler with figures of 5-6 and Henry Thompson 3-13.

In The Lancashire Cup, Blackpool advanced to the next round, following a 99 run victory over Baxenden at Stanley Park.

Professional Dale Deeb hit an unbeaten 114 off 113 in just 120 minutes ( 7 fours and 1 six)

In the 2nd innings Andy Furniss got 3-26, and Steven Mercer 3-11, with Gurman Bains taking 2 fine catches in the deep.

Division Two (2nd XI)

Division 2 Round Up:

In Division 2, Barrow and Kendal are the early season pace setters! With both remaining undefeated.

Barrow won by 120 runs at Blackpool, with Barrows Lee Hogg hitting 85 setting the Blackpool a target of 212 for 8, with Ross Parker taking 4-75 for the hosts.

In reply Blackpool were bowled out for 92 with Patrick Allington taking 6-24.

At Birch Hall Mike Dugdale topped the bowling with 6-20 as Kendal defeated Darwen by 5 wickets. Dugdales 6-20 came in the 1st innings as Darwen were bowled out for 65.

Darwen's Michael Horsfield took 5-24 in the 2 innings but Kendal saw the game home reaching 69-5 in 38.2 overs.

In the other games Carnforth picked up an 8 wicket home win over Fleetwood Fleetwood were bowled out for 112 Darren Nelson taking 6-53. In Carnforth's reply Neil Dugdale 64 not out and Gary Baxendale 40 not out saw them home.

Chorley defeated St Anne's by 49 runs at Windsor Park Chorley making 124 and bowing St Annes out for 75 with Chorley's Richard Flood taking 7-30.

Morecambe picked up a winning draw at Netherfield, Gulam Maje (59), Reg Cupit (28, in Morecambes total of 206-7 off 50.

In reply 4 wickets by James Law put Morecambe in with a chance of victory however an unbeaten 64 by Robbie Lambert frustrated the visitors as Netherfield held on!

And Finally at West Cliff Lancaster defeated Preston by 29 runs, Lancaster reached 117 in their innings Preston's Salman Naseer taking 4-16, Lancaster's Phillip Sparrow took 6-43 to bowl Pre4ston out for 88.
