Division 1 Action

Barrow extend their lead at the top as Netherfield go 2nd following their derby day victory. At the bottom Ben Simms first game as captain ended in victory as Lancaster win at Morecambe

Heres a full round up of all the Bank Holiday Monday action in The Northern Cricket League:

Kendal v Netherfield:

Netherfield defeated Kendal by 9 wickets to move up to second in The Northern Cricket League.

In front of a jam packed crowd at Shap Road, Kendal won the toss and opted to bat, starting relatively well as they moved on to 19-0 off six overs.

Netherfield bowled well, as five consecutive maidens from Stuart Nixon and Chris Williams, slowed the hosts run rate down.

With John Mason's team getting on top they got the break through when Jamie Heywood was caught by John Huck off the bowling of Chris Williams for 4 as Kendal fell to 19-1

Jamie How came to the crease and started too look menacing, however Netherfield struck again Donovan Du Plessis was caught by John Huck off the bowling of Cobus Pienaar for 24

Kendal struggling started to gain some momentum and showed their improvement in the 29th over, scoring 15 runs off Cobus Pienaar as they raced to 78-2, as both How and Terry Hunte started to take control.

Netherfield kept going and broke the How and Hunte partnership as both succumbed with in 3 overs of each other. How was first to go on 64 as he was caught by Huck off John Mason, and then Terry Hunte fell for 37 after being caught by Chris Williams off the bowling of John Mason who returned with figures of 2-47.

Kendal added another 37 runs in the remaining eight overs to make a below par score of 179-6.

Four leg byes were conceded by Kendal in the first over, and Netherfield kept the run rate at a healthy gallop of just over five an over to close out the victory.

Marc Brown was the only casualty after being caught by Graham Baker off Jack White for 19.

John Mason opted to open and it was a decision which paid diviends as he top scored with an unbeaten 97 (13 fours and two sixes)

Pienaar also continued his impressive form for the club as he went on to an unbeaten knock of 57, with Mason and Pienaar making a partnership of 151. Netherfield reaching 183-1 in 35 overs.

Carnforth v Barrow

At Lodge Quarry, Barrow defeated Carnforth by 10 wickets to stay top of the Division.

Carnforth were all out for 172 as Gary Collins ripped through the hosts with figures of 7-49. Ryan Nelson the hosts main run maker with 47 off 93

In reply Barrow cruised to victory with Jon Miles hitting an unbeaten 111 off 91, with Ryan Brown unbeaten on 60 off 101 balls, as Barrow reached 175-0 off 35 overs.

Darwen v Chorley

Darwen defeated Chorley by 57 runs. Professional Shaun De Kock with an all round performance 65 off 96 in a 1st innings where Darwen made 217-5.

Chorley were all out for 160 in 38 overs. Shaun De Kock with 4 -37 supported by Niall Burke 3-33.

Leyland v Preston:

Leyland had to make do with a winning draw with Preston, Leyland's Henry Thompson posted an unbeaten 124 off 144 as the hosts made 246 for 5 off 50.

Preston frustrated the hosts in their reply as they batted well ending on 200-3 off 50, Yasin Patel unbeaten on 86 off 107.

Morecambe v Lancaster:

Their was a shock at Woodhill Lane as Lancaster defeated Morecambe by 5 wickets. Lancaster went into the game following the shock resignation of captain Damian Gudgeon. Ben Simm was appointed as the new captain as his team got off to the perfect start in the local derby.

Professional Timyacen Maruma putting in an all round performance as he returned with figures of 4-14, with Morecambe all out for 114.

In reply Maruma struck as he ended unbeaten on 50 with Lancaster reaching 115 for 5 off 45 overs.

Blackpool v St Annes

St Anne's struggles continue after falling to a 5 wicket defeat at Blackpool, Dale Deeb's 6-63 bowling the visitors out for 150. Andy Kellett the main batman with 42.

The hosts replied with 51 by John Mounsey and 51 by Dale Deeb as they reached 153 for 4 in 45 overs.

Dinuk Hettiarachchi the pick of the S Annes bowlers with 3-53.

Netherfield v Kendal



Mike and Liam Dugdale of Netherfield v Michael and Andrew Dugdale of Kendal

It was to be a special afternoon at Parkside Road as it Brother and son v Brother and Son.

Mike and Liam Dugdale who play for Netherfield played against Kendal's Andrew Dudale and Michael Dugdale. In an entertaining encounter, Netherfield came out on top, winning by 49 runs.

Steven Wilson hit a top scoring 126 off 145, with Robbie Lambert hitting 55 off 106 in a 170 run partnership, as Netherfield made 225-4.

In reply the 6-40 by young 14 year old leg spinner Liam Dugdale helped Netherfield to victory as Kendal were bowled out for 176 in 47 overs. Paul Dodds top scoring with 60.

Chorley v Darwen

Chorley got a winning draw with Darwen, Chorley making 146-9, 4-28 by Darwen's Andrew Cook.

Darwen reached 129-9, Sam Munns with 41 off 112, Richard Flood 3-46 and Chris Harty 3-34 for the hosts

Barrow v Carnforth:

Barrow stay top after an 87 run win over Carnforth,The hostsmaking 155-7 off 50, Greg Reynolds with an unbeaten 58 off 57. Darren Nelson with 5-44 for the visitors.

Carnforth all out for 68 in 29.5 overs, Glen Kermode 5-7 and Patrick Allington 4-25.

Lancatser v Morecambe:

Morecambe defeated Lancaster by 73 runs, Gulam Maje with 47, Lancasters Phil Sparrow with 3-41 and Adam Derham 3-29 as Morecambe were all out for 139 in 49.1 overs.

In reply Lancaster were all out for 66 off 28 overs, Nick Milner 5-26.

Preston v Leyland:

Leyland won by 117 runs at Preston an unbeaten 71 off 87 by Tom Reece as the visitors made a first innings total of 232 for 6. Salman Nasser with figures of 3-85.

Preston were all out for 115 in 28 overs, Chris Kelly with 6-53.

St Annes v Blackpool:

St Annes defeated Blackpool by 3 wickets,Blackpool all out for 168, Jake Sunderland taking 3-65.

David Bartholomews unbeaten 42 off 69 and Nathan Bolus's 40 off 63 easing the hosts to 169-7 off 46.2 overs.
