Lancashire Colts enjoyed their second win in as many days in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier League (incorporating Readers Cricket Balls).
After their exciting win over Fleetwood at Broadwater the Colts pulled off an outstanding performance to defeat defending champions Leyland by eight wickets with 20.1 overs to spare before a large crowd at Fox Lane.
Spin twins Mattie McKiernan and Greg Butterworth collected eight wickets between them as Leyland collapsed from 101 for 2 to 154 all out. Pro Brett Pelser made 45 before he was leg before to Butterworth who went on to claim five for 35, while McKiernan took three for 24.
Ammer Mirza hit an undefeated 76 off 101 balls with 15 fours; he saw the Colts home in an unbroken third wicket partnership of 136 with Danny Pawson whose 64 came off as many balls and included ten fours and one six.
Netherfield top both Divisions One and Two at this early stage of the season. Their first team won a thrilling game against Fleetwood at Parkside Road in the last over.
Marc Brown hit his maiden Northern League hundred and reached 108 before being run out as Netherfield amassed 282 for 5. Brown, the Cumberland County batsman who played previously for Carlisle, added 139 for the third wicket with deputy pro Dieter Klein who made 81 off 72 balls including seven fours and four sixes. Unfortunately Klein, the pro for Rochdale, was injured while batting, need a runner and did not bowl.
Brown made his runs off 143 balls and hit12 fours and one six. John Huck hit 44 off only 34 balls including four sixes. Ryan Smith took three for 81 off 19 overs.
Half-centuries by Chris Stanhope (57), Adam Parker (56) and pro Smith (58) kept Fleetwood in the hunt but Marc Hadwin again bowled superbly to take six for 62. The veteran leg-spinner captured the last wicket of Fleetwood no 11 Kieran McGann caught by skipper Chris Parry with just three balls remaining.
Chorley earned their first win of the season defeating Morecambe at Woodhill Lane by 57 runs. Will Moulton made 69 with six fours and three sixes in the visitors' 179 for 7 after captain Andy Holdsworth and Jack Bentham posted 57 for the first wicket. Usual opener Jack Catterall was unable to bat after injuring his thumb in the warm-up. Jono Gates took four for 43 for a Morecambe side without skipper Mark Woodhead who was ill.
Ikram Ullah hit 47 off 49 balls in Morecambe's reply before he became one of Billy Smith's three victims. Leg-spinning pro Gaurav Dhar then captured four for 41 as Morecambe were dismissed for 122.
Darwen fell 16 runs short of victory as their home game with St Annes was drawn. Atiq Uz-Zaman hirt his first century of the season, a sparkling 122 off 139 balls including 13 fours and two sixes in St Annes' 210 for 5. He shared an opening stand of 99 with Nanthesh Kiruparan who made 28. Darwen pro Mohammad Zaman Khan took 52.

Zaman Khan made 51 off 72 balls and Chris Clarke 45 off 69 balls in Darwen's reply before both fell victims to Matthew Grindley. Earlier Jake Sunderland captured the wickets of openers Alex Davies and Niall Burke who posted 51. With pro Dinuka Hettiarachchi bowling a miserly spell of 25 overs for 74 runs Darwen just failed to get the added impetus needed to see them over the line.

Cumberland County opener Jonathan Miles hit his first century for Kendal as the visitors recorded a resounding nine wickets win on a superb batting track at Lodge Quarry. Miles and sub-pro Werner Coetsee added an unbroken 210 for the second wicket, Miles making 132 not out and Coetsee becalmed on 99 at the close. Miles hit 18 fours and three sixes, Coetsee ten fours and five sixes as Kendal reached their target with 13 overs in hand.
Carnforth pro Gareth Pedder hit 77 including five fours and four sixes in Carnforth's challenging 246 for 9. Openers Ryan Nelson (53) and captain Adam Hornby (50) had posted their second century opening stand of the summer, adding 103 before Hornby was caught behind. Stu Parkin bowled superbly amid the batting mayhem to capture five for 62 off 17 overs.
Lancaster pulled off their second win of the season in a low-scoring affair at Lune Road. Captain Mike Stevens, Tim Barry and David Heywood all battled into the 20s as Lancaster made 139 - 8 against Preston, whose pro Saeed Bariwala took four for 39 off 19 overs.
Iain Burstow was Lancaster's match-winner with a spell of four for 25 as the visitors were dismissed for 120 in reply. Ben Simm wheeled through 17 overs to take three for 28 and Liam Moffat captured the vital wicket of Preston opener Sajid Patel for 47.
Blackpool were frustrated by Barrow at Stanley Park and had to settle for a winning draw. Despite lacking injured pace bowler Richard Gleeson, Blackpool had the visitors eight down for 166 at the close after South African pro Pieter Malan hit 59. The consistent Alex Smith made 86 in Blackpool's 219 for 8 as spinners Liam Livingstone and Gary Collins each took three wickets.
