Chorley hit top-spot in the Furness Building Society Northern Premier Cricket League (in association with 3D Sports) after a convincing derby day Bank Holiday win at Darwen to take advantage of overnight leaders St Annes having a day-off. Jack Catterall's side lead the table by seven points but have played one game more than St Annes.
Blackpool, who travel to Chorley in the game of the day next Saturday, are third with Preston and Leyland making up the top five after a tense draw at Fox Lane despite Preston pro Bilal Asad taking eight wickets.
Elsewhere there was an inspirational performance with bat and ball from Barrow skipper Daryl Wearing while Morecambe pro Mandla Mashimbyi took the season's first hat-trick.

Josh Tolley hurried Chorley to a convincing win at Birch Hall with an undefeated 57 as the visitors eased past Darwen's total of 99 with nine wickets to spare. Tolley shared an unbroken second wicket partnership of 94 with Australian professional Chris Hartley.
Chorley's all-amateur bowling attack again came up trumps, spinners Ian Oakes and Rex Purnell each taking three wickets and seamer bowler Jim Lee two as only three Darwen batsmen managed double figures, stand-in skipper Chris Lowe, deputising for the injured Andrew Cook, top-scoring with 31. Leg-spinner Oakes grabbed the vital wicket of Darwen's South African David Wiese, bowled for 23.
Barrow skipper Daryl Wearing led from the front to inspire his side to their first win of the season at Ernest Pass.
Wearing promoted himself to opener and anchored the Barrow innings with 70 in 45 overs that proved the cornerstone of their 146 for 9. Carnforth slow left-arm bowler Warren Quinn again impressed with his flight and guile as he took 5 for 47. Wearing then came on as first change bowler and decimated the visitors' batting line-up with a spell of 6 for 20. With pro Pasan Wanasinghe weighing in with three wickets Carnforth were bowled out for 90, only Ryan Nelson (33) providing prolonged resistance.

Blackpool had the better of a draw with Fleetwood at Stanley Park after an intriguing game of fluctuating fortunes. The home posted 171 for 7 after winning the toss, Andy Furniss top-scoring with 53 off 77 balls as Fleetwood's West Indies U19s player Chesney Hughes took 5 for 66 off 19 overs of left-arm spin. Hughes and Fleetwood's South African professional Henrik van der Dussen then gave their side a solid platform but once Hughes was lbw to Blackpool pro Saj Weerakoon for 45 off 62 balls, the home side spied their chance. The Sri Lankan spin ace wheeled his way through 25 overs, eventually bowling van der Dussen for a patient 60 off 112 balls and taking 5 for 75 but the visitors hung on with eight wickets down.
Lancaster had the better of a drawn derby game at Lune Road as visitors Morecambe finished 23 runs short of victory with three wickets intact. Lancaster's regular sub-pro Luke Proctor, the Royton CC professional, again impressed with a determined and classy innings of 72 to provide the backbone of his side's 169 for 7, skipper Tim Barry hitting an undefeated 41.
Morecambe were skippered by Phil Dennison in the absence of Mark Lomas and with Graham Lee pulling out through illness just before the match pressed Tommy Clough into a long bowling stint, the off-spinner returning impressive figures of 4 for 39 off 19 overs while South African pro Mandla Mashimbyi took a late innings hat-trick, the first in the Northern League this season. Mashimbyi bowled Proctor and then had Jamie Hirst and Brendan Hetherington both caught behind by Damian Gudgeon. Though Morecambe batted consistently down the order none of their batsmen came up with the big innings needed, Mark Woodhead top-scoring with 34 as Lancaster spinner BV Raghavendra took 3 for 23 from 16 overs.
Preston professional and captain Bilal Asad bowled his side to the verge of victory at Fox Lane but was frustrated by a combination of the weather and the obdurate Leyland captain David Makinson. Leyland hung on for a draw at 86 for 9 after two separate rain interruptions knocked a total of 10 overs off their innings,
Makinson batting thrrough 81 balls for an undefeated 18. Bilal Asad took 8 for 29 off 20 overs of sustained and accurate pace bowling, five of his victims being bowled, two adjudged lbw and the other caught behind. Earlier Bilal Asad had top-scored with 35 off 52 balls as Preston struggled to 119 on a slow and low pitch, left arm spinner David Makinson taking 3 for 24 off 17 overs, medium pacer Peter Cummings 3 for 35 and Lancashire 2nd XI player Luis Reece 3 for 34.
Defending champions Netherfield enjoyed a convincing eight wickets win over Kendal at Parkside Road with over 32 overs to spare as experienced opener Craig Walmsley led their charge towards a modest target with an undefeated 57. Kendal had struggled to 100 in 49.5 overs, relying on Nick Lewthwaite's undefeated 20 to see them to three figures. Cumberland county off-spinner Chris Miller took 3 for 19 off his 14.5 overs, and pro Glen Batticciotto, Stuart Nixon and Marc Hadwin each took two wickets. Kendal are hoping that captain and professional Ross McMillan will arrive from South Africa on Thursday as they bid to kick-start their season.

Rounding denied in Division Two
Lancaster lead Chorley by four points at the top of division two after both sides recorded derby day victories on May Bank Holiday Monday.
Lancaster recorded a six wickets win at Morecambe after restricting the hosts to 146 for 7, Nick Milner hitting an undefeated 54. Luke Phillips with 48 led Lancaster's reply.
Chorley relied on half centuries from the experienced pair of Dave Catterall and Ian Mawdsley as they reached 219 for 6 and then bowled out Darwen for 173 at Windsor Park.
The outstanding individual performance of the day came from James Rounding for Leyland at West Cliff. Rounding hit an undefeated 50 as the visitors declared after reaching maximum batting points and then took 8 for 56. But in a match interrupted by rain Preston hung on for a draw at 105 for 9.

Blackpool skipper Steven Mercer bowled his side to victory at Fleetwood with a spell of 5 for 36. Andrew Singleton hit an outstanding 78 in his side's 140 which Blackpool passed with just two wickets in hand thanks largely to Luke Melville's undefeated 41. Melville had earlier taken 3 for 30.
Kendal's Sam Cooper took four wickets to help defeat Netherfield at Shap Road by 25 runs after Wazir Zaman has top-scored in the home side's 143 for 9 with an undefeated 40.
In a high-scoring game at Lodge Quarry Carnforth hung on for a draw with one wicket remaining to deny visitors Barrow. Adam Cartmell (60) and Greg Reynolds (56) helped Barrow reach 219 for 6 despite John Denwood's four wicket haul. Carnforth closed on 179 for 9, Ryan Gallagher (47) and Ben Hornby (41) the major contributors.
