Kendal moved one point above overnight leaders Blackpool at the top of the 3D Sports Northern Premier League table after defeating Carnforth by five wickets in a low-scoring game in which professional Ross McMillan was again their hero.
The South African all rounder exploited a green pitch superbly taking 5 for 21 as Carnforth were bowled out for just 72. McMillan won his professional showdown with fellow countryman Ryan Bailey hands down, clean bowling the Carnforth professional for a first-ball duck. Off-spinner Ben Simm weighed in with 3 for 24.
Carnforth battled hard in the field, Adam Cowperthwaite taking three wickets and Gareth Denwood bagging the prize pair of Terry Hunte and McMillan but skipper Ikram Ullah's patient 30 not out steered Kendal home soon after 4 o'clock.

Kendal's Sunday opponents Blackpool were inactive but third-placed Leyland had to settle for a winning draw at Darwen. Tom Reece made 50 and Ian Farrington 43 as Leyland overcame a poor start and battled to 176 for 9 at Birch Hall, teenaged seamer Michael Clarkson bagging 4 for 34. Darwen closed on 148 for 7 with another of their promising teenagers Kamran Anwar top-scoring with 43 as Leyland's leg-spinning pro Ameer Khan took 6 for 59.
Defending champions St Annes were frustrated at Chorley, the home side holding on for a draw with nine wickets down. The prolific Atiq Uz-Zaman hit 95 (including three sixes and ten fours) as a depleted St Annes side reached 184 for 9, sharing a stand of 77 for the third wicket with Stephen Twist (31). Veteran Rex Purnell bowled unchanged to record 5 for 86 with his left arm spin.
Chorley closed on 162 for 9, last pair Billy Smith and Jim Lee salvaging a draw despite a battling 70 from Will Moulton (including six fours and two sixes) who shared a stand of 80 for the sixth wicket with Andy Holdsworth (24) after the home side had been reduced to 51 for 5. Twist and pro Mansoor Ahmed each took three wickets.
Morecambe's title challenge faded after they lost by 40 runs at home to Preston. Bilal Asad, the Preston pro, top-scored with 36 in his side's 128 (Graham Lee 4 for 29) and then took the first five Morecambe wickets to fall in a superb spell of 5 for 12 from 12 overs. Despite a battling 35 from Phil Dennison the home side were dismissed for 88, Lukman Vahaluwala weighing in with 3 for 7.
Netherfield's Australian professional Callum Ferguson hit his third successive century as his side recorded an 80-runs victory over bottom club Fleetwood at Parkside Road. The league's leading run-maker hit 107 not out off 111 balls including one six and ten fours, sharing a third wicket stand of 127 with Ben Haddrick (62). But Netherfield skipper Chris Parry declared the home innings closed with Ferguson marooned on 999 league runs for the season.
James Ellis battled hard for 50 but his dismissal, to a smart caught-and-bowled by Cumberland off-spinner Chris Miller triggered a Fleetwood collapse. Miller collected 4 for 43 as Fleetwood were bowled out for 137.

Michael Latham's Featured Match of the Day
Kendal v Carnforth
Kendal went back to the top of the 3D Sports Northern Premier Cricket League as a result of their five-wicket win at Carnforth on Saturday.
Ikram Ullah's side leapfrogged overnight leaders Blackpool by just one point after collecting a 12-points haul from a game that was completed in under three hours.
Heavy overnight rain had crept under the covers and contributed to a green pitch at a ground that used to be renowned as a batting paradise and it proved to be a good toss to win for Ullah.
Despite missing the services of Kevin Howarth, whose wife had given birth overnight, Kendal exploited the conditions superbly as their in-form South African pro Ross McMillan won his battle with fellow countryman Ryan Bailey hands down.
Carnforth pro Bailey was dismissed for a first-ball duck, bowled by McMillan after Darren Moore had become McMillan's first victim, caught by Oliver Killiner at short leg.

When skipper Adam Hornby was caught at slip by Terry Hunte to become McMillan's third victim Carnforth had slumped to 10 for 3.
Things got worse for the home side as Richard Forsythe was run out following a breakdown of communications with Tom Barnfield.
And when Barnfield was bowled by McMillan for a confidently-made 20 Carnforth had mustered just 35 for 5.
Off spinner Ben Simm added to the home agony, replacing Stuart Parkin and contributing a typically productive spell.
Simm bagged 3 for 24 and Nick Lewthwaite contributed the wicket of Adam Cowperthwaite before McMillan returned to the attack to bag last man John Denwood.
Carnforth had been skittled out for just 72 despite a battling unbeaten 27 from Lewis Bradley.
McMillan took the bowling honours with 5 for 21 off 12.3 overs of hostile and accurate seam bowling.
Kendal did not have things all their own way as Cowperthwaite bowled superbly at the same end as McMillan.
Cowperthwaite bagged the wickets of Gareth Ashburner, Killiner and Dominic Du Plessis as he recorded 3 for 31.
Gareth Denwood bagged a prize pair having Terry Hunte adjudged LBW before bowling McMillan for 24.

But Kendal opening batsman Ikram Ullah played a captain's innings, hitting the winning runs off Cowperthwaite with a mighty six over long on.
Ullah finished 30 not out and together with Paul Dodds (6 not out) steered his side to victory with five wickets in hand.
